Another Classic 5 out of 5 stars.

As for what is now and forever be classic television, the Simpsons are on the top. The first season was a bit choppy and underdeveloped and with this season it is easy to see that things are starting to come together and that the writers and animators are working the bugs out.

The high point of season two, the real reason to make sure that you own it is that this seasons begins the annual tradition that is the "Treehouse of Horror" specials that have always been amazingly done. This particular episode gives us the amazing creation of the Simpsons doing "The Raven" as read by the great James Earl Jones. It is worth the price if just for that.

Editorial Review:

Fans can continue to build a complete Simpsons DVD collection with the specially packaged, four-disc The Simpsons Season Two DVD Collection, where the evolution of The Simpsons is marked by the introduction of new characters (Ralph Wiggum; Groundskeeper Willie; Professor Frink; Dr. Julius Hibbert; Kang & Kodos; Blinky, the three-eyed fish; Comic Book Guy; Lionel Hutz; Kent Brockman), more celebrity guest stars (Jon Lovitz; Danny DeVito; Tony Bennett; Ringo Starr; Larry King and others), the debut of the Treehouse Of Horror Halloween specials, and the Billboard-topping song "Do The Bartman."

this is a really funny TV serie but with intelligent dialogs and interesting cases.
Spetial mention for the performance of the two main actors!

Boston Legal season 2 5 out of 5 stars.

Season 2 is even better than season 1. The writers find their stride in Allan's character, using him to argue cases for modern issues. Denny balances him, offering the opposite opinion but both show how you can be friends with someone who has differing viewpoints. Humorous, engaging, and intelligent.

Great Guest Stars!! 5 out of 5 stars.

Of course any Boston Legal fan will love this, however people with just an interest in the show will also love it because of all of the wonderful star power they brought into Season 2. One of my favorite seasons to date.

Editorial Review:

Created by television mastermind David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Picket Fences) and featuring an Emmy Award-winning cast including William Shatner, Candice Bergen, and James Spader, Season Two of Boston Legal is socially relevant, wickedly funny, and infectiously fresh...It's an open and shut case! Boston Legal Season Two features 27 episodes on a 7-disc set for $59.98 & $89.98.

One of the Best Shows on TV 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I really like this show. It is well written. I like all the seasons tie in together. The acting is great. The 5th season is great. The storyline is awesome, the action and drama are intense, and the conflict between Mackey & Kavanaugh is explosive. I definitely recommend this season as well as the rest.

Why No Widescreen? 4 out of 5 stars.

This was an incredible season of a show that just gets better and better every year.

However please be warned that this is not in widescreen as specified. I have no idea why the US DVDs are continually released in P&S, so I recommend going to Amazon UK where these are released in full widescreen aspect ratio.

One of the greatest shows in television history 5 out of 5 stars.

The fifth season of "The Shield" is on par with the previous four, which means instant greatness. Forest Whitaker brings some added acting muscle as the Internal Affairs agent out to get Vic and the rest of the Strike Team. This is essential viewing.

Excellent Series. 5 out of 5 stars.

Damn fine television. Not appropriate for young ones obviously. They have done a great job painting in shades of grey for this entire series.

M*A*S*H 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is one of those television drama/comedy-series that not only are a chuffing great watch, but truly an important part of telly history. Many people have been given something to think about in re war, civility, cruelty, and kindness through the thoughts, actions, and antics of Hawkeye, Trapper John, BJ Hunnicut, Radar, and all the rest of the cast. There is not only comments on the meaninglessness of war and chauvinism to be found here, but also on existence in general. And lets of course not forget some clever acting along the way, too.

The series pretty much picks up where the film left off. The characters are roughly the same, and the idiosyncratic directional style that Altman brought to the film is mimicked (to a point, of course) in the first series. As time goes by the series changes from being exclusively a comedy series to including quite a bit of drama, which, in my opinion, is just fine. It keeps the series 'fresh', for lack of better words. There is a clear evolution in the way that subject matter is treated. We get to see war and despair treated humoristically as well as dramatically.

The packing, as so many reviewers have noticed before yours truly, is not the best in the world. Two of the disc in my set was actually scratched out of the box. Seems a shame that such a great set of DVDs should suffer such bad packing, which is the reason for my rating it at 4 and not 5 stars. That, and the fact that the image quality is, to put it mildly, not very impressive. In these days of digital clean-up, it shouldn't be hard to make it better than this edition.

Still highly recommendable, though.

Widescreen 3 out of 5 stars.
14 of 22 people found this review helpful.

To be clear, this is the DVD set of Season 1 re-released in 2008:

I broke down & bought the new Sony release of Season 1. Here are my nitpicks about the differences with the original release:

The new set is in widescreen, which is a night & day difference from the old set on my HDTV.... The "Previously on The Shield" segments absent on the original Season 1 set are here. But, the 1st chapter stop is after the opening credits, not the recap. What a bunch of duki! Also, there are no chapter selection menus. All the original extras are here, minus the original script of the Pilot. The credits all replace the Columbia-Tristar logo with the Sony logo....

The menus use the same design as the original R1 set. The cover is also the same, without the gold reflective effect the original had.

Overall, the technical presentation is much better on this set. Plus, since they're a slim cased set, getting these Seasons will save me space on my shelf....

I sent it back as soon as I got it. It was missing the booklet that comes with the package. That is just as important to me as the dvd's. I may seek out a different source in the future.

This was to be a gift - I returned my order and the replacement order to Amazon because neither had the book with the set. I obtained this product from another source and received everything Amazon's picture shows - including the BOOK. The person to whom this was a gift is an avid Simpsons fan and the book was important to her.

I start my review this way because The Simpsons is approching Season 20 as I write this review. And only in the last several years has the show started to show serious signs of age!I am 28 now and this is a Simpson season I fondly remember one of my fathers' co-workers dubbing off of cable for us because we didn't have it;it was on right before "Married With Children" at the time if I recall. I cannot watch this season without images of "Don't Have A Cow Man" T-Shirts and even McDonalds offering a line of Simpson dolls;for a time they were as big a marketing item as The Beatles were in the 60's. It's funny how irreverant,witty,anti-authoritarian figures such as The Beatles and The Simpsons could have any capitalist angles but they did. But these 13 shows have a lot of special meaning to me. In this season Bart cheats on a test and ends up branded a genious,Marge has a near affair with a hursuit bowling teacher,Lisa jams her blues away with local jazzman Bleeding Gums Murphy (am I the only Simpson fan out there who liked this character?) and the entire family give each other electroshock treatment. Of course being when this is this season sometimes seems like the Bart Simpson show;Bart goes to France,Bart fights a bully,Bart outsmarts the babysitter bandit,Bart reveals Sideshow Bob had framed Krusty The Clown, etc. But before Homer became the breakout character Bart was the star vehicle. But that doesn't matter.Neither does the difference in the animation;the main characters have very rubbery movements,a lot of the backround characters are either horrible mutants or just look like blobs with faces in the crowd scenes. Not only that but Bart isn't as full of clever quips as he would be later,Homer talks more like Walter Matheau then he would later on and Ned Flanders hasn't yet become a religious fanatic;he was just the Simpsons yuppie neighbor at this point. But as a later Simpsons episode pointed out sometimes TV show change after a pilot or first season;some characters are baught upfront or pushed into the backround and sometimes you can change them almost entirely. Interestingly enough this would be the last of The Simpsons I'd see for another five years;I caught seasons 2 and on through network syndication. I have since diligantly purchased the DVD sets and will continue to do so but still this stands out as really one of my favorite Simpson seasons.

I thought The Shield season 2 was a very good season and especially how it ended. One very intresting thing that happend during the end of this season was Vic and his strike robbing a money train that contained millions. To find out why this occured, buy this season and discover other shocking happenings. You will not regret buying this season.

After I watched Season 1 I thought that maybe I shouldn't buy Season 2. There is no way Season 2 could top the first season. Well it did. Season 2 is great! A must buy for a fan of the Shield!

Tedious and Overhyped 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 6 people found this review helpful.

First off, let me start of by that ANYTHING with ron howard's involment is ment for average-to below average white people, who fancy themselves as being cultured or deeper than they really are. With that being said, I am not suprised that Arrested Development is a show that only hipster doofuses seem to enjoy.

To be fair, it's not the worst thing I've ever scene (family guy wins that distinction), but it is very boring, very lame and above all else, it's tedious. All the family memebers are so over the top, that they get annoying too quickly. The narration is really nasaly and annoying, the flashbacks occur way too frequently and really don't add to the hilarity--- for any situation.

I know there are many Arrested Development apologists who think that this is greatest thing ever, and if you don't like the show, you simply "don't get it". Oh, I got it okay. What is there not to get? It's a family of douchebags who have no redeeming qualities... BUT they're like totally quirky and they're running gags and stuff and blah, blah, blah. It just sounds like a piss-poor rip off of the royal tennenbaums to me.

Spend your money on 30 Rock, don't let the hipsters win!
...If you feel compelled to watch this show, my response would be "don't". But if you really must, then rent it first.
