Editorial Review:

Dean Martin stars as the original swinger agent, Matt Helm, in this four-disc set including: THE SILENCERS, MURDERERS ROW, THE WRECKING CREW, and THE AMBUSHERS.

THE SILENCERS: The first of the series of Matt Helm films, the big cheese of Big O, an organization that wants to sabotage the American atomic missile system. It's up to secret agent Helm to save the day.

MURDERER'S ROW: The handsome top agent Matt dies a tragic death in his bathtub - the women mourn about the loss. However it's just faked for his latest top-secret mission: He shall find Dr. Solaris, inventor of the Helium laser beam, powerful enough to destroy a whole continent. It seems Dr. Solaris has been kidnapped by a criminal organization. The trace leads to the Cote D'Azur.

THE AMBUSHERS: A government space saucer is hijacked mid-flight by a powerful laser beam under the control of Jose Ortega, who then proceeds to rape the female pilot, Sheila Sommars. ICE sends agent Matt Helm to Acapulco with Sheila to recover the saucer, under the guise of Matt taking fashion photographs of beautiful models. Matt is temporarily sidetracked, falling prey to the seductive charms of enemy agent Franceca Madeiros.

THE WRECKING CREW: The count has stolen enough gold to cause a financial crisis in the world markets so I.C.E. sends in ace spy Matt Helm to stop him. As Matt works alone, the British send in Freya to aid Matt, but it seems that Freya causes more problems than she solves.

Bewitched -The Complete Third Season 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The quality is excellent. We love Bewitched, I have almost all the seasons. My husband runs a million dollar business and I literally consider him close to being a genius and he very much enjoys watching this show with me as he finds it to be a great stress release, an escape to a different era, when life was simple.

Brings back great memories 5 out of 5 stars.

Obvious Plot Device in Hippie... 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Plot devices are used in sitcoms all the time and most can be overlooked if a sitcom is funny enough, but in Bewitched, season 4, one particular episode doesn't quite cover itself enough. The plot device in "Hippie, Hippie, Hooray" is much too obvious for my taste. In this episode, Sam's cousin Serena decides to play a "hippie" musician and gets her picture put on the front-page of the local news during a local "sit-in" which is busted up by a motorcycle gang and cops. It's not enough, however, that Serena is the twin-cousin of Samantha, she also decides to make her hair "blonde" for the event. Serena, in all past episodes, has always been a brunette and from every indication, prefers being a brunette.

So, why does Serena decide to be a blonde in this particular episode? Well, for one thing, if Serena had preferred to stay brunette for this episode, then she probably would not have been confused with Samantha by Darrin's boss, Larry Tate, and his wife Louise. That's the basis for the whole situation in this episode. We're suppose to believe that Serena simply decided she didn't mind being blonde after all, even after expressing distate for it in several earlier episodes. We're also suppose to think that Serena's "hippie" event had to happen in Connecticut (The fictional location of this series), even while California is the more likely stage, and Serena could have just as easily staged this thing anywhere in the world (she is a witch, after all).

But forget about the location because its the simple fact that Serena decided to be a blonde for the event which is the obvious plot-device. Why deliberately cause her cousin Sam so much bad publicity? That isn't her style. That's more her mother's style, because she likes anything that hurts Darrin's position. The point is, in a more reality-based fiction, the chances are Serena would have simply chosen to be a brunette for the event, but that probably would have prevented the whole situation.

I know sit-coms are over-flowing with plot-devices, but they're funnier when the plot-devices aren't so damn obvious. Bewitched is generally good for goofy laughs, but this particular episode didn't quite do it for me. As for the rest of the season, aside from the warm and fuzzy holiday episodes, which are obviously made for kids, it was okay.

Toys in Babeland has a perfectly mad-cap ending, Cheap, Cheap is a nice twist of humor, Big Ears is nice social commentary with some good laughs, Once in a Vial is a good backfire on Endora's manipulations, Snob in the Grass is another good social commentary with laughs, and Man of the Year is a minor gut-buster that makes big fun at the expense of Darrin's vanity.

This season is obviously one of the best, despite the fact that it doesn't rely so much on the nosey neighbor Gladys Cravits (no longer played by the original).

Editorial Review:

Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York and Agnes Moorehead return for more spellbinding comedy and magic in BEWITCHED: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON. Join a harried Darrin while he watches helplessly as Samantha, Endora and their extended family of witches and warlocks conjure up love potions, space visitors, Leonardo da Vinci and even Prince Charming himself. Paul Lynde and Emmy Award Winner Marion Lorne are back as well in this extraordinary four-disc DVD collection, featuring 33 episodes of side-splitting laughter, enchantment, and fun.

The Carol Burnett Show (2) disc Special 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This item was a birthday gift for my wife since she loves Carol Burnett. She was terribly disappointed when both dvds were only clips and cast discussion regarding their most memorable years. What my wife wanted was the seasons dvd starting with Season 1 or any season episode available. None of the season dvds are able to be purchased.

Too little of the actual shows 2 out of 5 stars.

I bought this hoping that it was mostly excerpts from the show, but it was mostly Carol and others talking with not enough of what we all loved so much back in the day.

Item was as described 5 out of 5 stars.

Bought this DVD as a gift for my grandparents--they love it, it arrived very quickly.

Very little comedy 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I was very excited to receive two Carol Burnett DVDs thinking that they were comprised of just outtakes from the regular show. They turned out to be a series of interactions between Carol and her cast and a live audience. Very boring and dissappointing. I loved the show and was repulsed by the fawning fans. Very little comedy.

Laughter is good for the soul 5 out of 5 stars.

The combination of Carol Burnett, Vickie Lawrence, Tim Conway, Harvey Korman is hilarious. The fun they create will make anyone laugh.

if you have the first 2 seasons then I'm sure you will end up getting this one. like all this type of T.V. non-sense to sit and watch the entire DvD
in one sitting will get pretty old fast but for a occasional evening of a episode or 2 this makes for a great distraction.

I really liked the two season's in color. My grand daughter who is six really liked Gilligan's Island bringing in a younger audiance to the older shows her grandmother enjoyed as a child.

Love The Show, Hate The Release Format 1 out of 5 stars.
16 of 19 people found this review helpful.

Gunsmoke - The Third Season, Volume 1 continues the release schedule for one of television's alltime greatest television series. Beloved and revered, this series will always be considered one of the alltime best. Yes, because of its' longevity, but also because of the great acting, directing, and writing displayed on the series.

But still, I cannot recommend these sets. There is no excuse, no justification the studio can make for splitting a 20-season series up and dividing each season into multiple sets. It's greed, shortsighted, fear of producing full season sets that won't sell - maybe one or more or all of these things. But the Western lover, loyal as we are to our favorite stars, our favorite movies and series, are being made to pay a price that is way too high to pay. To think how long it may be before the entire series is released is too painful. Suffice it to say that it will be WAY TOO LONG at the current rate.

At this point, it is probably too much to expect the studio to come to its senses. But it is worth it to say that they need to come to their senses, and soon.

Editorial Review:

HOGAN’S HEROES: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON focuses on a group of American soldiers, led by Colonel Hogan (Crane), who are confined in a Nazi prisoner of war camp called Stalag 13 during World War II. While trapped in Stalag 13, the inmates conduct an espionage and sabotage campaign right under the noses of their warders. Because the Germans, led by the bumbling Colonel Wilhelm Klink (Emmy Award™-winning actor Klemperer), are often gullible, the real strength of Hogan’s men are the elaborate ruses and sometimes dangerous lengths they will go to complete their mission.

The last classic year of MI 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Sadly, this review site has become a hang-out for disgruntled "Fugitive" fans with a never-ending grudge against CBS/Paramount. Get a life!
This 5th series of MI is one of my favorites. They finally grow there hair/sideburns a little and start swinging with the '70's! Really strong writing, and a good variation of plots. Too bad Leonard Nimoy wasn't happy with his role, but he is a team-member of equal importance, and really shines in several episodes. Sam Elliott as a doctor is not a good replacement for strongman Willie in 10 episodes, but he is not as bad as I expected, just generally useless. Lesley Anne Warren is very young and new to acting, but she is gorgeous and wears some incredible mini-dresses & mini-skirts (and never wore a bra). Yes, I admit, pure eye candy, but she is effective in the mod episodes where Barbara Bain would have seemed, well, out of place. The next years are good too, but this seems like the last classic team, and the least repetitive with plots. (I mean, how many Eastern European or South American jails do they have to infiltrate, then escape?)

Editorial Review:

The hit series Mission: Impossible™ returns to DVD, featuring all 23 Season Five episodes! By the fifth season, the show's changing times meant changing crimes, as the emerging drug culture forced the IMF to spend more time in America, battling organized crime and drug czars. But the winning formula stayed the same: Jim Phelps (Peter Graves) gets his assignment, Barney Collier (Greg Morris) makes the required special effects, and Willy Armitage (Peter Lupus) supplies the muscle. And while Paris (Leonard Nimoy) has the makeup skills to become any character required, it's the team's newest member — the gorgeous Dana Lambert (Lesley Ann Warren) — who gives this season an added boost, and makes this set of Mission: Impossible™ the most thrilling DVD experience yet!

Well Put Together 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Season 3 of "The Andy Griffith Show" is perhaps the best constructed season of a continually well put together series. Additionally, Paramount did Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Opie, and the rest right by this very professional box set.

It seems like most of the time when one buys a DVD set the frills are gone; some do not even have a list of the programs included (except in the DVD itself). This not only has a list of titles, but a description of each episode. Furthermore, instead of easily broken compartments, the DVDs each rest in three individual cases (there are five DVDs for 32 episodes).

Season 3 has some of the most memorabilia "Andy Griffith" episodes, here is a brief rundown of eight favorites...

Mr. McBeevee-Opie tells tales of an extraordinary friend, but is he fact or fiction?

Man in a Hurry-This episodes features a man who is stunned by the slow-paced life of Mayberry; this installment has an almost-"Twilight Zone" feel to it.

Class Reunion-Andy and Barney organize a High School Reunion and Andy reaffirms the decisions he's made.

Opie and the Spoiled Kid-Opie pushes Andy's parental limits after a spoiled kid preaches entitlement to him.

Andy Discovers America-Andy makes history lessons fun after Opie's teacher blames the man for his son's lack of interest in the subject

Aunt Bee's Medicine Man-A charming salesman cheers a depressed Bee, but how?

Barney's First Car-Barney is duped by a seemingly sweet-old-lady in this hilarious episode.

The Rivals-Opie develops a puppy-love crush on Barney's girlfriend and the Deputy is NOT amused.

Good 4 out of 5 stars.

If you remember watching these reruns in the 70's and 80's and have not seen them since - this is a treat... Just don't expect to sit down and watch more than 3 or 4 in a row... They are good, just a little repetitive.

Still Funny After All These Years 5 out of 5 stars.

The Addams Family hasn't lost anything since I first saw the show as a kid.

I highly recommend the set to any fans of the show.
