This season rocked!!!! I love the episode when, Samantha can't stop speaking in rhyme it was hilarious! I also liked the episode when Serena and Arthur get a job at an Ice Cream Shop! I can't wait to see what's in store in the Sixth Season!

missing information 1 out of 5 stars.

In this set it does not contain any information on Dick York even though this is his last season on the series as Darrin. However, they did put in an informercial in Spainish before each show on the later disc's with no english translation at all.A little back ground on Dick Yorks years as Darrin would have been a great bonus but alas not to be.

Editorial Review:

The magic on Morning Glory Circle continues as Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery), Darrin (Dick York), and Endora (Agnes Moorehead) return in Bewitched - The Complete Fifth Season. Join the Stephens family as Samantha takes a trip back to 1868 New Orleans (with guest stars Jack Cassidy and Isabel "Woozy" Sanford), Endora shrinks Darrin down to size, Serena tries her luck at computer dating, and Tabitha wreaks havoc in nursery school. This four-disc DVD collection contains all 30 episodes of season five, marking the final season with Dick York as Darrin.

Love Sesame Street? 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I love this as much, if not more, than my kids. Not only do I feel nastalgic for the good ol' days, but it reminds me of why Sesame Street was created. Some of the greatest and most memorable segments are in here. I haven't watched the first season because I think this is closer to the time when I was a kid and all the kinks from the first season would have been worked out by the second season. I just love Grover and Prairie Don, Bert and Ernie. You can see that some of these characters have just about disappeared these days through the inclusion of Elmo's world and all the things they do with new characters. While I don't mind them, I miss the guys I grew up with. This is great to break out when you've watched re-runs too many times! I end up sitting down and watching the show with the kids, and they like that as well!

Editorial Review:

Can you dig it? Sesame Street: Old School Volume 2 picks up right where Volume 1 left off, including all the grooviest Sesame Street memories from 1974 to 1979! You’ll see cats like Don Music and Roosevelt Franklin, Guy Smiley and Fat Blue. Break out your boogie shoes for far out classics like "What’s the Name of That Song?" and "Telephone Rock!" Rediscover the Sesame Street of the 1970s -- the place where you learned about letters, numbers, and loveable furry monsters. Catch you on the flip side!

Four of Five Possible Stars 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The Andy Griffith show is a classic, but Disc One forces you to sit through several minutes of commercials. There is no way to avoid them with the set up that I have. I pushed the next button on my DVD remote and nothing happened. The forced commercials are a disappointment. Manufacturers need to reconsider their marketing.

Season 2 5 out of 5 stars.

Andy Griffith was one of my favorite TV shows. I wasn't around back than but it's a great show for being that old. Barney was the heart and soul of the show especially when he quit being a deputy to become a vaccum cleaner salesman. It's funny that a picture of Warren was placed on one of the disc menu. You can even get a little from Warren in a black and white season.

Editorial Review:

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW - THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, is a comedy about a North Carolina widower named Andy Taylor who divides his time between raising his son, Opie (Ron Howard) and being sheriff of the small and virtually crime-free town of Mayberry. With next to no crimes to solve, Andy spends time philosophizing and trying to calm down his cousin, Deputy Barney, played by Don Knotts.

I love it, but Ramond Burr is the whole show in this first season 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I'm old enough to have watched the last couple of seasons of Perry Mason when they were first on, but not old enough to have seen the first season. Many of these episodes were not familiar from my having watched episodes in the syndication package over the years, which made it more interesting to watch them now. Compared with later seasons, Perry seems to take things a bit more into his own hands in these episodes. He's as much a private detective as a defense attorney. Burr was a superb actor and this was the part of a lifetime for him. In fact, given how strained many of the plots are and how sudden and implausible the finales are, without Burr to put it over, I doubt this show would have lasted more than one season. With respect to implausibility, for instance, in the episode on which Barbara Eden guest stars, what was the killer's motive? Mason ends up establishing opportunity and catches the killer in a contradiction on the witness stand, but, unless I missed something, neglects to establish a motive.

One other fun thing: Count how many episodes where Mason is working at night. Not only is he often in the office at midnight or later, but so are Lt. Tragg and Hamilton Burger! Clients think nothing of calling him up at all hours asking to meet him and he invariably obliges. The script writers must have been real night owls to believe it would be plausible to show people working those hours.

A final note: These DVDs contain absolutely no extras. No commentaries, no "Making of" feature, nada. It's a shame after all these years they couldn't have come up with something.

Editorial Review:

Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) is an attorney who specializes in defending seemingly indefensible cases. With the aid of his secretary Della Street and investigator Paul Drake, he often finds that by digging deeply into the facts, startling facts can be revealed. Often relying on his outstanding courtroom skills, he often tricks or traps people into unwittingly admitting their guilt. The series began in 1957, running until 1974, and later revived in a series of TV movies. In over 270 episodes, Perry never lost a case!

THE INVADERS #2: The Believers come out! 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 10 people found this review helpful.

You are about to witness the second and final season (1967-1968) of Quinn Martin's sci-fi series "The Invaders", produced by Alan Armer and whose new associate producer named David W. Rintells revises the series' original concept by introducing a team of experts called "The Believers", led by financier/industrialist Edgar Scoville (played by Kent Smith) who support the struggle of architect David Vincent (played by Roy Thinnes).

A new team of composers popsup under the direction of jazzman Duane Tatro who writes six scores. A fine writer named Laurence Heath (former "Mission: Impossible" writer and story consultant) puts to pen four scripts: the mind control intrigue "Condition: Red" (guest starring Jason Evers, Antoinette Bower and Mort Mills), the Soviet-oriented plot "The Captive" (guest starring Fritz Weaver and Dana Wynter), "Counterattack" (guest starring Anna Capri and Lin McCarthy) and perhaps' the season most challenging story "The Life Seekers" (guest starring Barry Morse and Diana Muldaur) in which David Vincent meets a couple of pacifist invaders willing to reform the politics of their society.

Find a selection of shocking episodes dealing with mental cruel acts as "Valley of the Shadow" (an entire town is reprogrammed to forget the presence of the invaders, guest starring Nan Martin, Harry Townes and Joe Maross), "Dark Outpost" (in which four students are brainwashed to see one of them executed in different ways, guest starring William Sargent, Andrew Prine and Whit Bissell), "The Possessed" (in wich an alien conditions the brain of a scientist to kill at will as a Pavlov's dog, guest starring Michael Tolan, Michael Constantine and William Smithers), "The Pit" (in which the invaders fashion a dream machine to turn scientists into madmen inside a Research Center, guest starring Charles Aidman, Joanne Linville and Donald Harron) and "The Pursued" (the unofficial sequel to "The Mutation" in which a female invader is the victim of a failed experiment and cannot control her wild impulses, guest starring Suzanne Pleshette, Dana Elcar and Will Geer). Two episodes try to depict the true form of the invaders: "The Spores" (guest starring Gene Hackman) which makes a veiled reference to alien seed pods from Don Siegel's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "The Enemy" (guest starring Richard Anderson).

I Love Lucy - The Complete Third Season 5 out of 5 stars.

Non-stop laughter. My 12-year-old son is now a "Lucy" fan! Whenever he gets a break from homework he watches an episode and fills the room with his infectious laugh (which causes my husband and I to roar with laughter as well). What a fun way to have the entire family enjoy television watching (like the good old days days were back in the 50s, 60s and 70s). It's a must have!

from 1956-2008 nothing changed!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I Love Lucy needs no review ..... it is a timeless classic that exceeds anything on a scale from 1 to a million and then some!!!! This is comedy which should be emulated today. Its very important that we have an alternative to the base, shocking, condescending, vulgar toilet humor of today!!! I own the first 7 years and rate them all the same...........a treasure!!!!

Editorial Review:

I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE THIRD SEASON continues to follow the wild and wacky comical adventures of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo and their infamous neighbors Fred and Ethel as they embark on even more madness in season three. The first disc did not work. I tried it in two different DVD players and it still didn't work, even though all the other discs worked. I wasn't satisfied. This may not happen to everyone, but I'm just telling my experience. Adivice: Buy it from the Dark Shadows website.

Takes Me Back 5 out of 5 stars.

This collection takes me back to the time when life was carefree, still too young to be aware of the war in VN. The memories of rushing home from school to see Dark Shadows made me warm inside.
It is really surprising that after all these years, this series was actually still spooky. They were able to convey it without gore and sex! I will be ordering 1 collection per month until my Dark Shadows is complete.
I recommend it to all that grew up in the late sixties.

Editorial Review:

EPISODE SYNOPSES Pilot: Ginger, Maryann and the Professor are different people. Mary-Ann's name is Bunny and her character is more like the current Ginger. Ginger is more like Mary-Ann but still called Ginger. The Professor is very much a ladies man. Since the episode never aired, the show was drastically altered, characters were replaced and so was the now, unforgettable theme song. Episode 1: "Two on a Raft" - The castaways find themselves marooned on the island. Gilligan and the Skipper set sail on a home-made raft in an attempt to find help. After sailing for days and battling obstacles such as sharks and Gilligan's unending hunger, they land back on Gilligan's island without realizing it. Episode 2: "Home Sweet Hut" - A hurricane is coming, so the Castaways must quickly build one large community hut in which to weather the storm. However, they soon get on each-others nerves, so they later decide to branch out and build individual huts. Episode 3: "Voodoo Something to Me" - The Skipper fears that the island is full of 'voodoo' when he thinks that Gilligan has been turned into a monkey. Episode 4: "Goodnight Sweet Skipper" - The castaways hear on the radio that a plane is going to be flying over their island, but they will be unable to contact them because their transmitter is broken. Episode 5: "Wrongway Feldman" - When Gilligan finds an old airplane hidden in the jungle, the Castaways discover a long-forgotten aviator living on the island. Episode 6: "President Gilligan" - The castaways decide that they need someone to be the leader on the island, and so they hold elections. Episode 7: "The Sound of Quacking" - The Castaways are faced with running out of food, when a blight threatens to destroy many of their plants. When Gilligan finds a duck in the lagoon, a difficult decision must be made. Episode 8: "Goodbye Island" - Gilligan discovers a special tree sap that can be used to make a good tasting pancake syrup. Then the professor discovers that the same tree sap also makes a super glue, that may allow the castaways to repair the Minnow. Episode 9: "The Big Gold Strike" - Mr. Howell discovers a gold mine on the island. He then hires Gilligan to work in the mine. When gold fever strikes the castaways and Mr. Howell is unwilling to share the gold, they begin to charge outlandish prices for the supplies and food that Mr. Howell needs. Episode 10: "Waiting for Watubi" - While digging, the Skipper uncovers a carved statue of a Tiki God. He then believes a curse has fallen on him for disturbing the resting-place of Watubi, and that his days are numbered. Episode 11: "Angel on the Island" - Mr. Howell decides to put on a play, staring Ginger, after she begins to suffer from home sickness. Trouble begins, however, when Mrs. Howell decides she wants to play the starring role. Mel Blanc is the voice of the parrot. Episode 12: "Birds Gotta Fly, Fish Gotta Talk" - During Christmas, the Castaways get homesick and remember the first day they were shipwrecked. When Santa Claus "appears" on the island, many suspect he is the Skipper in costume. However, just as Santa departs while wishing the Castaways a Merry Christmas, the Skipper appears from the other direction. Episode 13: "Three Million Dollars More or Less" - Mr. Howell loses $3 million to Gilligan in a golfing contest. Mr. Howell then tricks Gilligan into trading for a worthless oil well that he owns. Episode 14: "Water Water Everywhere" - Talk about a painful irony: though surrounded by water, the Castaways suddenly discover that their supply of fresh drinking water is running out. Episode 15: "So Sorry, My Island Now" - The Castaways are captured by a Japanese sailor who thinks that WWII never ended. When the other castaways are captured, it is up to Gilligan to save them. Episode 16: "Plant You Now, Dig You Later" - While working for Mr. Howell, Gilligan unearths a chest. The castaways think it must contain a pirate's treasure. Episode 17: "Little Island, Big Gun" - A mob leader and his henchmen, fleeing from the police, land on the island. Episode 18: "X Marks the Spot" - In a test of a deadly new missile, called "Operation Powder Keg," the Air Force chooses an "uninhabited island" which just happens to be Gilligan's Island. Episode 19: "Gilligan Meets Jungle Boy" - Gilligan discovers a jungle boy living on the island. He shows them a hole in the ground that causes objects to float, and the professor theorizes that it is expelling either helium or hydrogen. Kurt Russell is the guest star. Episode 20: "St. Gilligan and the Dragon" - Angry because the men haven't kept their promise to build them private houses, the women decide to move to the other side of the island in protest. Episode 21: "Big Man on Little Stick" - Handsome surfer Duke Williams rides a giant tsunami to the island. At first, the castaways are excited as Duke thinks he will turn around and surf back to Hawaii (and send help). However, after seeing Mary Ann and Ginger, he decides he may want to stay for a while. Episode 22: "Diamonds Are an Ape's Best Friend"- A gorilla is enchanted by Mrs. Howell's perfume and kidnaps her. After Gilligan accidentally spills the perfume all over his shirt, the gorilla decides to release Mrs. Howell and exchange prisoners. Episode 23: "How to be a Hero"- After Gilligan is unable to save Mary Ann from drowning in the lagoon, the Skipper must jump in and rescue both of them. The Castaways then devise schemes to boost Gilligan's ego, and help him feel like a hero. Episode 24: "The Return of Wrongway Feldman" - The castaways are revisited by 'Wrongway' Feldman. Episode 25: "The Matchmaker" - Mrs. Howell decides to engineer a romance between Gilligan and Mary Ann. Episode 26: "Music Hath Charm" - Mrs. Howell decides to form a symphony orchestra, to make up for the lack of culture on the island. Gilligan's drum beats, as they drift across the water, hold special meaning to angry natives on a nearby island. Episode 27: "New Neighbor Sam" - The Castaways overhear the voices of gangsters discussing buried treasure and threatening their lives. The voices turn out to belong to a parrot, who then leads the castaways to the "treasure." Episode 28: "They're Off and Running" - Mr. Howell wins all of the Skipper's possessions betting on turtle races. Even when he feels bad and switches the turtles so that Skipper will finally win, he still wins! Episode 29: "Three to Get Ready" - The Skipper insists a stone found by Gilligan will grant the finder three wishes before sundown. The professor, of course, insists it is just superstition. Episode 30: "Forget Me Not" -The Professor tries to cure the Skipper's amnesia by hypnotizing him and taking him through time. Episode 31: "Diogenes, Won't You Please Go Home" - The Castaways discover that Gilligan has been keeping a secret diary. When they read it, they all seem to disagree with how certain events unfolded and tell their side of the story. Episode 32: "Physical Fatness" - Gilligan and the Skipper plan to join the Navy when they are rescued. However, when weighing themselves, they discover that Gilligan must gain weight, while the Skipper must diet. Episode 33: "It's Magic" - Gilligan finds a raft, oh wait, no, the Great Raftini's magic trunk. Ginger knows how to use the magical tricks and the castaways plan to use the magic to scare away angry natives if they ever got to their island again. Episode 34: "Goodbye Old Paint" - A famous painter who has renounced civilization, Dubov, visits the island (with a short-wave radio, of course). The castaways are hopeful that Dubov will give them his transmitter, but soon discover he does not wish to go back to civilization. Episode 35: "My Fair Gilligan" - After Gilligan saves Mrs. Howell's life, Mr. Howell decides to make him his son. He immediately puts Gilligan through basic training to be a millionaire's socialite son (dream sequence), changing the way he walks, talks and dresses. However, Gilligan and the rest of the castaways miss the "old Gilligan." Episode 36: "A Nose By Any Other Name" - A fall from a coconut tree gives Gilligan an inflated nose and a deflated ego. When Gilligan decides he wants the Professor to perform plastic surgery on his nose, the Professor pretends to perform the surgery, and instead, relies on the recuperation time behind the bandages to allow the swelling to go down. When the bandages are finally removed, Gilligan decides he is happy with his old nose!

Early Doctor Who 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Smith, the Daleks, et.al. have become my favorite weekend fare. In the interests of finding out where it all started I purchased a DVD set of the first Doctor Who stories. I was not disappointed. What has always fascinated me about the Doctor Who series is that all the stories are interrelated and each episode has at least one tidbit that serves to knit the tales together. The question of why the Tardis always looks like a police call box is neatly answered in the original Doctor Who. I love it!

The Beginning of a Legend 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

These are the very first three adventures of the Doctor, witch aired all the way back in 1963 as such some elements are completely and totally out dated but one thing remains the FUN! It's three fun adventures that are very different in style to the modren adventures, there are a total of 13 episodes plus one unaired pilot, and more then enough interveiws to keep you happy. If you can enjoy these oldies then go for it! However if you need the latest and newest these adventures will bore you. For thoses intreasted the second serial in this collection includes the first apperence of the Daleks.

Best TV western Ever 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is it. The real Gunsmoke. This is the half hour broadcasts heavy on drama and character acting and in glorious black and white. The series picked up right from the radio program that was so popular in the early fifties. John Wayne even introduced the series with a brief introduction.

These are beautiful short morality tales of the kind that have gone with the wind. Tough stuff with a heart.

THE KING OF ALL TV WESTERNS 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The television series ran from September 10, 1955 to March 31, 1975 on CBS for 635 episodes. Until 2005, it was the longest run of any scripted primetime series with continuing characters in American primetime television.

Conrad was the first choice to play Marshal Dillon on TV, having established the role, but his increasing obesity led to more photogenic actors being considered. Losing the role embittered Conrad for years, though he later starred in another CBS television series, Cannon (1971-1975). Denver Pyle was also considered for the role, as was Raymond Burr who was ultimately seen as too heavyset for the part. According to a James Arness interview, John Wayne was offered the role, but wouldn't do it; Wayne was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and at that time, working in television was seen as a huge step down in prestige for a star actor.

In the end, the primary roles were all recast, with James Arness taking on the lead role of Marshal Matt Dillon upon the recommendation of John Wayne, who also introduced the first episode of the series; Dennis Weaver playing Chester Goode; Milburn Stone being cast as Dr. Galen "Doc" Adams; and Amanda Blake taking on the role of Miss Kitty Russell, owner of the Long Branch Saloon. MacDonnell became the associate producer of the TV show and later the producer. Meston was named head writer. Arness, in his role on Gunsmoke, achieved what no other actor at the time had ever matched: he played the same character on the same scripted series for 20 years - at the time the longest uninterrupted period a primetime actor had played the same role in the same show.

In 1963, singer/character actor Ken Curtis did a guest role as a shady ladies' man. After Weaver left the series to venture out as the lead in his own TV series, Kentucky Jones, Curtis was added to the show's lineup. He played the stubbornly illiterate Festus Haggen, a character who came to town (in an episode titled "Us Haggens") to avenge the death of his twin brother, Fergus Haggen, and another brother, Jeff Haggen, and who decided to stay in Dodge when the deed was done. Initially existing on the fringes of Dodge society, Festus Haggen was slowly phased in as a reliable sidekick to Matt Dillon and was eventually made a deputy. Interestingly, his twin was never again mentioned on the show. In the episode "Alias Festus Haggen," he is mistaken for a robber and killer whom he has to expose to free himself (both parts played by Curtis). In a comic relief episode ("Mad Dog"), another case of mistaken identity forces Festus to fight three sons of a man killed by his cousin. Other actors who played Dillon's deputies for two and a half to three-year stints included Roger Ewing (1966-1968) as Thad Greenwood and Burt Reynolds (1962-1965) as Indian/white Quint Asper. Buck Taylor, who played gunsmith Newly O'Brien from 1967-1975, also served as one of Dillon's deputies.

While Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty clearly had a close personal relationship, the two never married. In a July 2, 2002 Associated Press interview with Bob Thomas, Arness explained, "If they were man and wife, it would make a lot of difference. The people upstairs decided it was better to leave the show as it was, which I totally agreed with." The nearest that Matt and Kitty had to a romantic encounter was in a comic episode ("Quiet Day in Dodge"), where Matt, tired from a long day of settling disputes, was about to have dinner with Miss Kitty. However, she was distracted and found poor Matt sound asleep. Kitty ended up storming out of the room, furious. In another episode ("Hostage!", Season 18, Episode 13, December 11, 1972) Kitty was gravely injured. Matt spent hours at Kitty's side in Doc's office, holding her hand before she stirred and he knew he would not lose her. The Marshal took off his badge to pursue the bad guy as a personal vendetta. When Kitty awoke and Doc told her of Matt's mission she feared for his safety. As Doc reassured her, "The sun hasn't come up on the day that Matt can't take care of himself," Kitty answered, "I couldn't live without him."

In an episode ("Waste") featuring Johnny Whitaker as a boy with a prostitute mother, her madam questions Dillon as to why the law overlooks Miss Kitty's enterprise. It appears that bordellos could exist "at the law's discretion" (meaning the Marshal's).

The character Miss Kitty was written out in 1974, when Blake decided not to return for the the show's 20th (and final) season.

Editorial Review:

Marshall Matt Dillon is responsible for keeping the law and respectability in Dodge City in this western action-drama. Gunsmoke captured the courage, character and spirit of the Western Frontier.
