Shoves too much political views down your throat. 2 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I own all family guy seasons so far and i have to say Vol. 6 has been the biggest disappoint of them all. There are still plenty of laughs to be found here but i think Vol. 6 like the last few volumes is slowly providing less and less laughs. At least for me.

The biggest annoyance i had with Vol. 6 is it seems to be VERY heavy in left wing politics. I'm a big believer in if you can laugh at other people you should be able to laugh at yourself but this Volume REALLY seems to shove their political view points down your throat and i think it takes a lot away from the show. Insinuated all conservative sates are horrible places, Insinuating we need more gun control, Insinuated school are under funded, Insinuated religious people are crazy, Bush is friends with the devil.. I could go on and this is just from the first three episodes.

Sure some of it was funny but there becomes a point when you're not making a comedy and you're really just shoving your political views on other people.

Please Come Forth, Fourth Season! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Being a naive 8-year old in a late-30s body, I tend to forget the business aspect of releasing Happy Days seasons. I know it's about money. That said (if I'm not mistaken), Season Three ranked much, much higher in terms of sales on Amazon's ranking system than Seasons 1 and 2. I thought for sure Season Four would come along in quick fashion. It hasn't... and no explanation, anywhere.

I had the thrill of meeting Henry Winkler at a Hank Zipzer book signing in May (2008). He was as electric, and gracious, as everyone has said he is (although I think he was somewhat cautious around a delirious fan who was neither female or a kid). Whatever the case, one of his handlers (for lack of the right word) said he would not be signing Happy Days merchandise (so much for bringing my Season 1 along), and it got me wondering just what is going on behind the scenes (granted it might simply be for the reason Mr. Winkler was there for the purpose of his book). I also wonder if all of us who are die-hard fans who criticized the DVD releases for lack of obtaining music rights from original episodes, lack of any "extras", and occasional poor print quality have done a disservice to the whole thing. We can't have everything the way we'd like it, but if CBS/Paramount pulls the plug on this, we might never see Happy Days in a home-playable form again in our lifetimes (so, yes, I would take what I can get in this case!).

After watching Season Three, I had forgotten how funny the show was at that point (and wildly electric and live). There is a palpable energy that is unmistakable. Yes, the "film" effect of one-camera/no-audience Seasons 1 and 2 are admirable, but Season 3 is like watching Elvis on Ed Sullivan. Pandemonium. And, Season 4 is probably the last "laugh-out-loud-funny" season of all eleven. Don't get me wrong: HD had many layers, but some of the later seasons are heavy on sentiment (like a video Valium pill for the mind) and high 70s TV drama (who can forget a blind Fonzie shaking his fists at God while crying in a Brando-esque way, "How could you do this to ME? I thought I was your favorite person."). But, even as a little kid I remember thinking, "HD that opens with Ron Howard's Richie in his blue high school letter jacket meant "funny"; HD that opens with Ron Howard's red college jacket meant, well, cleaner and often more schlocky fun." Season 4 is that classic "high school senior" season. No Fonzie black t-shirts here. Just edgy, often risque humor.

This was the height of Fonzie Mania before they felt the weight of little kids. Before episodes were built around Fonzie saying smoking wasn't cool, and eyeglasses were. Before the great Garry Marshall went all P.T. Barnum ("see the Amazing Fonzie Battle with the Woman of Catmandu!). ... Hey, it was the 70s. Everyone gets a free pass there.

I'm just pleading with Paramount (hell, anyone): tell us why the hold up? I'll buy five Season Tens (arguably the only really questionable season, whereas the final Season Eleven was brilliant, I think) if we can just get to the classic Season Four! Let's put it this way: Happy Days Season Four was the #1 show of ALL of American television in that 1976-1977 season (yes, above everything; MASH, All in the Family, you name it). And for great reason!

An answer, please. Somebody. Anybody! I'll be the guy trying to burn his 1984 Happy Days finale ("Passages") to DVD in the hope the tape doesn't unravel after 24 years if you're looking for me.

Please keep it going CBS/Paramount and TV gods that be...

Todd

I had never seen Mork and Mindy before receiving this DVD set. We invited a few members of the family over and watched the complete season. I'd never heard so much laughter from them. I was nicely impressed by Robin Williams's earlier work.

what a classic 4 out of 5 stars.

This show is it for classic comedy who doesnt like Robin Williams, got this free with my pepsi points, would love it if the other seasons were available too.

Robin Williams as Mork - funny even then.. 5 out of 5 stars.

We have all of the DVDs - our only regret is that the Mork show was only on tv for a few seasons. Robin William in his early days - extremely funny from the beginning and Pam Dauber is wonderful as Mindy too!

Great show for all times! 5 out of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed watching this now as an adult, more so than when I was a teenager. I was able to catch a lot of things I didn't get back then, and needless to say that this is one zany show. Robin Williams was brilliant and there couldn't be a better counterpart than Pam Dawber to handle the crazyness in her own sweetness. I particularly enjoyed the episodes featuring Exodur (did I spell that right?). Only Mork would understand Exodur's mission so well! The sound and overall quality of the DVD is excellent and my recomendation goes to both the old Mork & Mindy's fans as well as the upcoming generation. This is truly good entertainment.

Still some good episodes but definitely some clunkers. I would only buy if you're a hard core fan (which I am).

Krusty's Head is filled with wonder! 5 out of 5 stars.

Simpsons Season 11 is a gem! There are some great episodes in there. My only complaint is how difficult it is to remove the discs from the packaging and the overall flimsiness of the packaging. I foresee it all falling apart after a handful of viewings.

The Packaging Wasn't THAT Bad! 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

While this season marked a certain downward trend in the comedy styling of the cartoon series I so love to this day, there were still some gems this go round.

The 'Behind the Laughter' episode, which was a take on the popular VH-1 'Behind the Music' for starters is probably the most hysterical of all the episodes on here. 'Eight Misbehavin'' when Apu and his wife give birth to the octuplets is a close second. 'Last Tap Dance in Springfield' and 'Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner' are also up there.

Then there were the sillier ones that I turned my nose up at like the episode where Bart takes the meds for having ADHD (Brother's Little Helper) and the Spring Break episode where Homer has a nervous break down and they take him to Spring Break (Kill the Alligator and Run).

Now the packaging: I must admit, I was like what in the world when I received this, but it's really not that bad like some have made it out to be. None of my discs were scratched or skipped. They were packed in extremely tight and you did have to fiddle with the cardboard a bit.

I would say the other packagings were better, and this was kinda cheap, especially with the fact that the collectible head was not the case, but glued onto the regular version.

Best Unknown Show On Television 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Where would I start with this show? There hasn't been too many shows I've waited for to come on week by week in my life, but this is definitely one of them. Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dea, and Frank are the funniest combination of people on TV since Seinfeld; and this show is pretty much "Seinfeld on crack". If you like shocking, bizarre humor, please buy this DvD or at least tune in Thursday nights at 10:00pm to FX and watch an episode! Also, you can watch any episode through the website.

Season 3 was/is hilarious. You have Mandy Moore and Britney Spears both making an appearance at some point, you have a reference to Doogie Howser, and you have Robins Sparkles. Awesome.

Obviously, I had already seen season 3 so I knew I was buying something I wanted. MOST DEF recommend it to ALL HIMYM fans or fans of any of the actors in it. Or, if you are interested in buying a great comedy, go right ahead! You will love it!

Hilarious 5 out of 5 stars.

This series revolves around 4 friends who run a bar in Philadelphia and who go through a variety of difficult but extremely funny and often extravagant situations. I had heard of the series previously but was only convinced of buying it after seeing an intervewi with the actress. What a suprise: this is a somewhat lesscorrect version of Friends meets My Name Is Earl. I agree that this may not be correct at all since this series has no respect for conventional moarl issues such as lying about having cancer, discovering a friend's grandfather was a nazi. It also tackles the strange love men sometimes has for guns ets... In some ways it is difficult to describe and understand if you have not seen this gem of comedy.

Editorial Review:

The Addams Family - Volume One
If The Munsters was a traditional family sitcom as reimagined by Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, The Addams Family is a macabre twist on Father Knows Best. The Munster and Addams clans made their TV debuts in 1964 and lasted two seasons before the networks buried them. The Addamses are now gloriously resurrected in this three-disc set that digs up the series' first 22 episodes (oddly, 12 shy of the complete first season). Inspired by Charles Addams's New Yorker cartoons, The Addams Family is fiendishly funny, with a dead-on cast that indelibly embodies Addams's characters. John Astin brings a demented glee to eccentric, frighteningly wealthy Gomez Addams. Carolyn Jones is bewitching as his pre-goth wife, Morticia, whom the Beatles might have had in mind when they sang, "Baby's in Black." Jackie Coogan is the electrifying Uncle Fester, with Ted Cassidy (who famously took a kick in the groin from Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) is the monstrous butler Lurch, whose "You rang?" entered the pop culture lexicon.

The Munsters was family friendly. The Addams Family is more sophisticated and wickedly funny. As Gomez notes at one point, "There's a touch of madness" in the Addams household, where "every day is Halloween." Bear rugs growl, a disembodied hand, Thing, delivers the mail, and a torture rack is good for what ails you. The children, Wednesday (Lisa Loring) and older brother Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax), enjoy such hobbies as playing autopsy or exploding model trains. Gomez and Morticia were one of television's most passionate couples, with Gomez being driven to arm-kissing ecstasy whenever Morticia spoke French. The last episode included in this collection, "Amnesia in the Addams Family," is a classic in which Gomez is rendered "normal" following a conk on the head. The look of disgust on Morticia and Lurch's face when he asks for a glass of milk is priceless. The "altogether ooky" extras include three episode commentaries, a featurette on Charles Addams, reminiscences from cast members Astin, Loring, and Weatherwax, a segment on the creation of the classic snap-snap theme song ("They're creepy and they're kooky...."), and the inevitable theme song sing-along. The Addams Family at last on DVD? As Gomez might exclaim: "Capital!" --Donald Liebenson

The Addams Family - Volume Two
Based on the original Goth cartoons by Charles "Chas" Addams that ran for decades in the New Yorker magazine, The Addams Family television sitcom portrayed a monster family whose moribund physical appearances were counteracted by each family member's exuberance for passion and adventure. This Volume Two DVD contains twenty-one episodes, including the last of season one and the whole of season two, plus commentaries, and a featurette about the cinematic impact The Addams Family had on American television culture. Premiering the same year as The Munsters, this short-lived series was one of the first two shows to take issue with the Leave It To Beaver aesthetic that dominated television throughout the 50s, in which perfect families narrowly defined normality in the American home. Instead, it starred a family feared by neighbors, who within the boundaries of their haunted Victorian mansion invented their own thriving, not to mention fun, culture. The Addams Family proved that outsiders could be extremely gracious, educated, and interesting, even if eccentricities rendered their looks a threat.

These episodes include the original cast: Gomez (John Astin) and Morticia (Carolyn Jones), Uncle Fester (Jackie Coogan), the two children Wednesday and Pugley, butler Lurch, hairy Cousin Itt, and the enigmatic hand, Thing, who plays castanets for the married couples' cha cha parties, and looks up things in phone books. Macabre humor in each episode reverses average, expected logic. Flower arranging, for Morticia, involves de-budding and stripping roses of all but the thorns. In "Morticia, The Sculptress," Gomez bribes a local art dealer to buy Morticia's hideous art at the Addams Family's own expense, revealing Gomez to be a strange but loving husband. In most episodes, such as "Lurch, The Teenage Idol" and "Cousin Itt and the Vocational Counselor," The Addams' aim to help their loved ones succeed, in these cases Lurch, as a harpsichord-playing pop star, and Itt, on a career search for an unintelligible, hair-covered little person. The Addams Family house interior still looks exquisite forty years later, full of taxidermied animals, antique furniture, carnivorous plants, and medieval charm. One watches this show not only for its sets and costumes, but also for its refreshingly wide take on what successful families can look like. --Trinie Dalton

The Addams Family - Volume Three
Product description: The Addams Family is not your typical family: they take delight in most of the things that "normal" people would be terrified of. Relive the misadventures of America's favorite frightfully funny family.

Technical Information vs. Season One 3 out of 5 stars.
11 of 17 people found this review helpful.

Brothers & Sisters Season Two is listed as having a Run Time of "1 minutes" as I write this review; this is clearly wrong. (The Season One DVD set is listed as having a Run Time of 988 minutes.)

Season One had 23 episodes. Season Two had only 16 due to the writers' strike. The Season One collection was on 6 discs. Season Two is on 5 discs. There's no advance information about what extras they added to the Season Two set, but logically you'd expect the price to be about 2/3 of that of Season One. That's not the case.

I won't go into details about the Season Two plot lines involving the faux Walker sibling; others can cover that. But based only on the amount of content versus the price of the set, I've got to say I'm disappointed.

I'm Falling in Love With This Show! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The second season of Brothers & Sisters offers the same elements that were present in its first, only better. After this second season, I quickly realised that I'm completely in love with these characters and their storylines. Anyone who's close to their siblings will find many similarities in the plot of this show.

The show continues where the last season left off. Kitty is still with the Senator and he is still trying to take his seat at the head of his party. Sara's marriage is still in trouble. Justin is still at war and will become more troubled than before. Kevin is still looking for love and hiding his aloneness with cynicism. And Norah... well she's still the matriarch with so much goodness she causes more harm than good. The family business is in trouble, and many of their relationships as well.

These characters are going through real situations that I found myself indentifying with. There are many gripping moments in this series that just brings you closer to these characters because they often reflect our own. Sure, the show is about a rich Californian family that seems to have all that they want. But the characters are never overzealous, which makes them real.

What I find amazing about this show is the dialogue. When the entire family is together, the dance that takes place back and forth between these characters is so realistic that it sends shivers down my spine. The performances are all strong, even more in this second season. The actors are truly empersonating their characters and they seem much more at ease with one another.

Brothers & Sisters is a real gem. I wish more people would be able to watch and enjoy this show about family relationships and family secrets. I can garantee that after just a few episodes, you'll be completely hooked.
