Tom Selleck portrays a man at the end of his rope until having relocated he sees a possible redemption that turns out to be a real nightmare. His divorce and the loss of his job as a LAPD Detective forces him all the way accross the country to a New England small town and they want to hire him as their new Chief of Police; but, all is not well in Paradise as he soon learns to his utter dismay.

These Jesse Stone series are a great vehicle for Tom Selleck, its good to see him back in action - the stories are great, and suit him to a tee. He has that ability to convince the viewer that he is Jesse Stone - very much a tortured soul. He is very believable in the role.. it seems like it was written for him. I have all three episodes and enjoy watching them very much - keep wanting more.

I lucked into this movie and immediately began a search for any others in this series. I've since purchased all that are available and have not been disappointed on any aspect of each movie. Tom Selleck is excellent as the aging small town Police Chief complete with the quick wit we remember from him in his Magnum series. The plot was thorough, suspenseful and well written; each actor was cast perfectly for his/her role and the entire production well above todays standards. I found it suitable to view with my grown children and grandchildren, in mixed company, etc - no gratuitous obsenity, violence, sex, etc. A welcome relief from the mostly trash that the movie industry is projecting on us today. Simpley a good, well acted, well written 2 hours of entertainment showing much of the beautiful New England setting and one that I will watch again many times.

Good movie, very true to Robert Parker's books. Tom Selleck is perfect as Robert Parker's Jesse Stone. I have purchased the whole collection.

Tom Selleck excells at showing this very human, but tough cop, who has relocated from LA to the small town of Paridise MA. It's a second chance on his new life, while dealing with his own flaws and struggles. Robert B. Parker's character jumps from the novels as good as "Spenser for Hire" was in the 80's. Jesse Stone is todays man always trying to get better while doing the right things along the way. Four of these movies are available and a fifth is in production.

This is a great mystery without all the gore, violence, and sexual overtones of a lot of movies! Older kids can watch this movie and I love the development of the plot and characters in this movie. I highly recommend this movie and all the other Jesse Stone movies that are out there!

Tom Selleck is a great choice to play the part of Jesse Stone. I haven't read the books the movie series is based on, and movies are seldom as engrossing as novels, but the movies each have great storylines, enriched by capable actors and actresses. It is interesting to watch the series in chronological, storyline sequence; Mr Selleck is allowed to develop the character little by little in each episode. Exposing his character's past is as interesting as the mystery of the day. Love the sound score, the piano melody reflects an introspective spirit.

3 discs in collection 2 played ok and third one (STONE COLD)kept being kicked out of 2 different players so in order to watch it I had to play it on my computer.

If you are a Tom Sellec or Jesse Stone fan these are a must see. We found them in a local BlockBuster and enjoyed them so much we had to have them. Good story line and Tom Sellec does a fantastic job as a alcholic police cheif.

The Jessie Stone series is the best collection of crime stories I've seen. Tom Selleck has this character nailed down perfectly, and the writing is top notch, with great characters that you really care about, and plot twists that will knock you out!
The cinematography effectively captures the dark mood and the seaside location is perfect. The producers have a HUGE winner here, far and away the best cop shows available on DVD, right up there with the phenomenally successful BBC detective series "A Touch of Frost", which I consider to be the best drama collection of all time.
