Very interesting 5 out of 5 stars.

I find it very interesting and entertaining watching and hearing what two amazing people have to say. David Letterman is in a class by himself and I enjoy everything he does.

Editorial Review:

ABC News' Ted Koppel interviews late-night talk-show host David Letterman on his success and his decision to not bring his show over to ABC.

Great Fun 5 out of 5 stars.

Highly recommended, especially for the technically inclined. Dean Kamen is an interesting individual; great example of what we are capable of doing for ourselves.

Editorial Review:

Dean Kamen holds more than 150 patents and some of his inventions have been truly revolutionary. Among Kamen's better mousetraps are a wheelchair that climbs stairs called the IBOT, the Segway Human Transporter, and a portable, wearable drug infusion pump that is in wide use. But it's not so much the inventions that distinguish Kamen, it's his enthusiasm for solving problems and the circuitous way he gets there. Dean Kamen sheds a little light on the creative process from his New Hampshire workshop.

A revealing interview with Barbara Cook 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

It is nice to hear Barbara Cook tell a little about herself. We do not know as much about America's greatest living singer as we would like. I hope this leads to her writing her memoires. She makes her brilliant successes in several fields (musical theater, nonmusical theater, cabaret singing, concert singer, and recording artist)sound achievable to others. This interview makes me want to know more!

Editorial Review:

When Barbara Cook began her professional singing career more than 50 years ago, she was a Broadway ingenue with a silky soprano. Today, at 75, she's still packing them in on the concert and cabaret circuit. But along the way, she gained weight, struggled with the bottle and disappeared from the limelight. It was in "Candide," "The Music Man," and later, the show "She Loves Me" that Broadway turned Cook, a singer who started out with a bad case of stage fright, into a star. Her comeback began 20 years ago, and, based upon her Sondheim concert tour that completed in 2003, which drew raves from the critics, Barbara Cook is like a fine wine -- better with age. Anchor: John Donvan.

Ferdinand Starbuck's Review 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Not as enjoyable as Stewart's show. Still, loved the satire enjoyed the visuals could live without the rampant vulgarity. I'd planned to leave the book out for my two teenage children to enjoy, but concluded they're too young for it.

Editorial Review:

He's not only funny, but he manages to weave the news of the day into a topical humor that doesn't easily offend. It's not an easy trick, but Jon Stewart pulls it off on "The Daily Show," a satire of a daily news broadcast that borders on parody. What you'll immediately learn from Stewart's interview with ABC New is that the road to comedy stardom is paved with an assortment of odd jobs -- shelf stocker at Woolworth's, bakery worker, puppet master and, believe it or not, mosquito sorter.

Editorial Review:

You think it's easy being a multi-millionaire NBA star? Before you answer that question, you need to know the back story. Stephon Marbury grew up in Apartment 4G in the Coney Island projects of New York with his four brothers, two sisters and parents. They were called the first family of basketball in Coney Island. For a variety of reasons, the brothers' dreams of making it to the NBA were never realized. But after a year of college, Stephon was drafted at age 19. He made it to the big show. It's a long way from the New York projects to his sprawling mansion and the third of a million-dollar Bentley convertible Marbury drives outside of Phoenix. He not only takes care of his parents, brothers and sisters, as well as his two daughters and wife, he has poured a lot back into the community he grew up in -- with charity events, summer tournaments and a basketball camp where he brings needy kids to Upstate New York. There's also the arrest for drunk driving. And he's fathered children out of wedlock. Marbury calls himself "a role model and a human being." Correspondent: Michel Martin.

Don't bother/not worth the money! 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This DVD was less than 40 minutes TOTAL on two DVD's. I kept waiting for the "overview" to stop and the actual program to start. It never happened:(

The WHOLE show seemed to be just an overview of the subjects/interview with the journalists that did a series of articles about the subjects. I am very annoyed that I spent $20.00 on this dvd set. I won't be buying anymore of these shows. Don't waste your money!!!

Editorial Review:

So much of what passes for journalism is shaped by constant deadlines that don't allow reporters the time to dig deeply enough to truly enlighten the reader or viewer. Every once in a while, a news organization makes a commitment to a story that permits its reporters to demystify a complex social issue. A writer and photographer from the Los Angeles Times, Phil Willon and Gail Fisher, devoted more than a year to see how three kids just out of the foster care system would cope. ABC News, Willon and Fisher discuss what they discovered by following Monique Luna, Janea Barton and Jesse Equihua. All three of the teenagers the reporters shadowed either graduated from high school or got a G.E.D, an indication of some success after foster care. Correspondent: Judy Muller.

NightLine Up Close: Interview with Nadia Comaneci 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I haven't heard much of anything about Nadia Comaneci since she defected to the USA back in the late 1980's, so I was glad this DVD was available for purchase. Though Nadia is one of those kinds of people who will always remain a mystery, in this interview you will discover that she is married to Bart Conner and co-owns a gymasium in Norman, Oklahoma. She and the interviewer watch a video clip of of her 1976 Olympic performance on the uneven bars and she provides her analysis of that as well as her floor exercise routine. There's also a bit where she reads an excerpt from her childhood diary where she discusses how hard she trained.
She also touches on her life behind the iron curtain and her escape. Though this DVD is less than an hour long, I thought it provided some good information about Nadia (since there's not much out there anyway) but I think Nadia will always be the kind of person who will leave you feeling as though you want to know more about her. That's just who she is.

Editorial Review:

In the 1976 Summer Olympics, Nadia Comaneci, then a 14-year-old Romanian gymnast, did something no one else ever has done. She was awarded the perfect score of 10, not once, but a total of seven times in seven different events. But eventually the little girl who captured the Gold and the hearts of millions slipped into a life of mystery behind the iron curtain. After years of hardship, she defected to the US in 1989 and eventually married fellow Olympic Gold Medalist Bart Connor. They now run a gymnastics school in Norman, Oklahoma.

Editorial Review:

Sometimes dreams do come true. From the time she was a young British schoolgirl, Jane Goodall dreamed of visiting Africa, called "the dark continent" in her day. But it was just after World War II, her family had little money, and people just laughed at her musings about Africa. "'Jane, dream about something you can achieve,'" she recalls them saying. "Except my mother. She'd say, 'Jane, if you really want something, you work hard, you take advantage of opportunity, and you never give up. You find a way.' So, that was the kind of encouragement that led me to do what I did."

Editorial Review:

For mountain climber Erik Weihenmayer, scaling the tallest peak on each of the seven continents is the kind of milestone mountain climbers like himself usually only dream of. Conquering the seven summits can take a lifetime. Two months ago, Erik Weihenmayer achieved his goal and he's only 33. And, he's been blind since he was 13. Correspondent: Don Dahler.
