Excellent show about OCD 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great segment of a show about OCD. It is current and provides a good idea of how people with this disorder and those who care about them are affected by OCD.

Editorial Review:

Whenever Lois Pile hits the road, she also thinks she's hitting people on the road. She truly believes this. Lois is constantly looking around, checking the mirrors, anticipating a catastrophe that never happens. Lois' real problem is not her driving. Instead, Lois suffers from an illness, a form of obsessive compulsive disorder 'harming obsession,' and in her case, Lois is afraid she's going to run someone over. ABC News speaks to several OCD sufferers who have a chemical imbalance that manifests in intrusive thought patterns.

Roberta 4 out of 5 stars.

My son has mental illness and the National Alliance of Mental Illness
recommended this 16 minute segment from a 20/20 television show as a good way to try and understand how the mind of a mentally ill person perceives things.
A group of scientists at Yale University developed a visual reality device that one puts on their head to see and hear as if you have schizophrenia. It is an intense video showing a very extreme case of delusional processing. There are schizophrenic persons explaining their form of this illness.
This CD is informative and worth viewing. It, in itself, is not enough of an education if one is seeking answers about this terrible disease. It does, however, add a greater clarity to what it does to a person.

Editorial Review:

It's all in their minds: visions, voices, taunting, never ending, driving them crazy or worse. It's hard to imagine, but now, an amazing device lets you feel their pain. The technology lets you go inside the mind of a schizophrenic. See what they see. Hear what they hear. Using the technique of virtual reality, Janssen Pharmaceuticals has developed a device to stimulate the visual and auditory hallucinations of a schizophrenic patient. Dr. Timothy Johnson explores the world of people struggling with the voices within. This "20/20" show contains the following additional stories: Victim's Comp Windsheilds

Editorial Review:

Typecast, label, pigeonhole & it doesn't matter what word is used, they all mean the same thing -- to stereotype. As John Stossel reports, many people say it's natural to stereotype, and psychologists say we still categorize by things like age and race and gender because our brains are wired to do it automatically. Topics covered include: Stereotypes and tolerance -- it possible to overcome racial hatred? The power of stereotypes -- Is there really a "stereotype effect," and if you are aware of it, can you overcome it? The psychology of stereotyping -- If we don't want to stereotype, then why do we do it? The race game -- Are there truly differences between the races that make one race superior in sports? Gay stereotypes -- Is it possible to tell someone's sexual orientation? Are gay people more likely to be in certain professions?

ONLY 16 MINUTES !! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This DVD total run time is only 16 minutes!. It talks about an approach for curing panic disorder called intesive exposure therapy. Search about this subject on google I think you will find more information. You don't need to buy this DVD!!

Editorial Review:

There is a kind of pain that is invisible and terrifying -- panic attacks. In their most extreme form, people are so paralyzed with fear that for years they are unable even to leave their own homes. Psychologist David Barlow and Director of the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University says a number of factors, including heredity and stress can make a person vulnerable to panic attacks. But there is a pioneering therapy that, in many cases, could be an alternative to drugs or months, even years of therapy in treating panic attacks with agoraphobia. The idea behind this therapy is to have the patient confront their fear in a controlled setting.

Editorial Review:

ABC News correspondent Bob Brown profiles the remarkable Bill Porter of Portland, Oregon. Born with cerebral palsy, Porter nonetheless became a door-to-door salesman in Portland, struggling up to 10 miles a day on foot while selling household products for the Watkins Company. Friendly and persistent, in time Porter became the top grossing Watkins salesman in the United States. His story was told in the 2002 TNT cable movie Door To Door, with actor William H. Macy as Porter and Kyra Sedgwick as Porter's friend and assistant, Shelly Brady.

In a Nutshell 3 out of 5 stars.

It was okay, it did a good job outlining the philosophy and exposing some of the unfortunate things that have happened to some of the practioners. However, I found it to be somewhat shallow and lacking in depth, especially the interviews. They were too short and lacked substance. In its infancy Scientology was a very good thing which was preverted. There are some things that have merit, but were not considered. I think it would of been better if it had been a little more objective. Moreover, I don't think that anyone would disagree that what it has become is not acceptable.

Editorial Review:

It's unlike any mainstream church. There is no worship of or any bible containing God's word. Yet the Church of Scientology inspires a passion in its members -- some say so strong it's dangerous. Includes interviews with members John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.

ABC News investigates the lavish lifestyle of the Saudi royal family and talks to those who say the Saudi princes at play in the Riviera, St. Tropez, Cannes, and Monte Carlo are making a mockery of their faith and have enraged critics who seek to overthrow the kingdom's rulers. ABC also reports on the alleged involvement of some Saudi princes in cocaine smuggling, prostitution rings and suspected efforts to fund terrorists. In the program, ABC News interviews Prince Al Walid Bin Talal and investigated prostitution charges against Prince Abdel Azziz bin Fhad and drug smuggling charges against Prince Nayef bin Fawwaz al Shaalan.

Very important information for parents/teachers alike - very well presented - we need to address this problem early on - great for college classroom, too!

Not worth the money 2 out of 5 stars.

I am a K-8 School Counselor and purchased this thinking the entire DVD was about Bullies. It actually is only a 10 min. segment which is somewhat outdated (didn't even mention the impact of the internet). I also purchased 20/20 DVD The 'In Crowd' and Social Cruelty which is better.

Editorial Review:

ABC News looks at the lasting and tragic consequences of being bullied and the daily torture that bullied children suffer. School violence specialist Glenn Stutzky tells us that the consequences of school bullying today may even include revenge killings and an epidemic of suicides.
