Charming people, charming place! 5 out of 5 stars.

One can only imagine what it would be like to live in Dibley. I have watched the Christmas special 8 or 9 times this week. Still funny, even ten years later. They haven't lost any of their charm or wit and each character is funny and unique in their own way. You will find yourself waching over and over as I have. It's like visiting old friends, you never get tired of them. The Vicar of Dibley is simply one of the best british comedies ever to grace the small screen. You will instantly fall in love with everyone. Start with the original series and work your way up to the specials and the wedding, you won't be dissapointed....I promise!

Editorial Review:

The holidays are usually an eventful time for the eccentric residents of Dibley and their chocoholic female vicar, Geraldine. This year proves to be no exception. Alice gets "the wrong end of a very, very long stick" when she spots a supermodel in her undies in the vicarage. It isn't long before the entire village believes that Gerry is not only one of the first female vicars in England, but also one of the first lesbian vicars! In the New Years special, Gerry is determined to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, but the villagers are determined to give her a birthday present she'll never forget - a blind date with one of them!

The Vicar of Dibley - The Complete Series 3 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I enjoy this DVD as I know I can have a good laugh and have watched it several times. It appeals to my sense of humour. Each of the characters have their own individual brand of humour - but the cake must go to Alice, with her deadpan face, followed by Geraldine. The fact that the "swearing" is minimal is a nice change.
I didn't get to watch the complete series on TV and borrowed a few "Dibley" DVD's from the local library. My daughter suggested I try ordering from Amazon - it was actually quite simple to do, once I got the hang of it! I'm sure that I'll be ordering others in the future.

Editorial Review:

The sleepy village of Dibley has a new vicar, but it's not your standard order bloke with beard, bible and bad breath - it's Dawn French, of the hilarious comedy duo French and Saunders. Armed with a sharp wit, a double dose of double entendre and healthy supply of chocolate, she brings the town's lovable - though rather eccentric - inhabitants a hysterical new outlook on life, love and the Church of England that will leave audiences in stitches!

Should stay lost. 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 7 people found this review helpful.

The only reason i am reviewing this is because there are some reviews here that are wrongly giving Deep Space Nine a bad time! Voyager is dull and boring and the worst in the Star trek family it had so much potential and failed miserably.

Deep Space Nine is light years ahead and still stands up welll with todays Sci-Fi TV. It is deeper and tells a story it does not simply push a reset button each week and move on.

Voyager will not leave a lasting impression like DS9.

Great series. Cheaper @ Amazon UK. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've been a Star Trek fan for some time and still believe Voyager to be the best (though many may disagree). There's something about being lost in space and finding ones way out which makes this series attractive. Not being close to Starbases or Starfleet Command adds an interesting twist to the adventure where sometimes, rules or protocols may be twisted (albeit slightly) to serve a greater purpose.

I won't drone on about the series (the other reviewers have done an excellent job already). What I will say, however, is that the cost of these DVDs are way too high. The series is not new and therefore, shouldn't demand such high prices. It's unfortunate since it's a good series and should be owned and appreciated by everyone.

Separate from that and the point of my review is that Amazon UK is now (as at Dec 9th '08) selling each season of the series (as well as The Next Generation and Deep Space 9) for approx. GBP15 each. This works out to be about GBP105 for the entire season (or only US$154). Standard shipping is another GBP10. All in all, you can own the series for GBP115 or US$170. This is half off the price Amazon US is selling it. Note also that you may need to pay a small surcharge if you use your US credit card due to the currency conversion/forex issue.

Before you jump on this deal, some issues to note:
- This is from Amazon UK (it is legit, NOT bootleg).
- Because it's from Amazon UK, the discs are Region 2 (NOT Region 1 which means that those of you who do not have multi-region DVD players will not be able to watch the DVDs). I repeat, the discs are REGION TWO (2).
- Shipping is inter-continental so be warned that the package would suffer greater stress coming to the US.
- You need to buy all the seasons individually, rather than as a bundled box etc. Therefore, if you're looking for some fancy bundled bonus, there's none here. Also, no special bundled box / fancy packaging.
- This is the slim packaging version. I'm not sure why it's of any importance but I thought it best to highlight it anyway.
- I'm not sure how returns would work as it is from Amazon UK (but it's still Amazon so we should be able to expect some level of reliability).
- I'm not sure how long the offer will last. It typically retails for GBP35 per season so there's a savings of almost 60% right now.

Anyway, given the substantial discount, I still think it's a worthwhile offer to consider. Not everyone would agree but for hardcore Voyager fans who do not yet own the series (and have a multi-region DVD player), this is a good buy.

The shows great but you can buy seasons 1 and 2 on this site separately for half the price of what it cost to get the two shirk wrapped together.

Go Team Venture!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Buy this and you will not regret it! Friends and family who ahd not heard of the venture brothers before were absolutely amazed at how hillarious these two dvds really are. I love the rediculuos take on super hero/villany and Brack Sampson pwns! These are not seperate episodes, they go in order, and they tell a captivating (and very silly) story. Supposedly Season 3 ties it all togather in some true realizations! Suspense! Intrigue! Scooby Doo dies painfully! Johnny Quest is addicted to smack! Why is that women's voice so low? All can be yours when you own these DVDs. Where the heck is season 3!!!??

awesome 5 out of 5 stars.

What a classic! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is one funny dvd! I haven't laughed so much since I don't know when! What a crazy gang, and Don Vito is hilarious - I laugh everytime I see him!! If you like these kind of shows this is a must have!

Wannabe Jackass... Sadly just crap 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 21 people found this review helpful.

Jackass was a great show, and if you haven't seen it - buy it now! Viva La Bam is simply lame in comparison. It's not funny at all, and neither is Bam. He is supposedly a pro skater, but does nothing that any average kid can do on a skateboard.

It's almost sad when he & his drop out Jackass crew are trying to make stupid jokes look funny, & laugh hysterically - it doesn't work. There is large part of an episode where they cover their house with lights (4 trucks worth), for Christmas. Nothing funny about that. Majority of all skits consist of his parents as victims. Don't know how they put up with it (guess money goes a long way).

Do not buy this, specially if you've seen Jackass, as it'll make it seem even worse.

Editorial Review:

Based on the premise of reality television, VIVA LA BAM centers on the fanatical and often extreme life of pro-skater Bam Margera and his fascination with amusement at the expense of his family and friends. With an almost contagious energetic persona, Bam is able to instigate his friends into lavishly planned tricks plotted against his loved ones. From turning his parents' house into a skate park to putting an alligator in his mother's kitchen, catastrophe and emotional abuse has never been so funny.

An average show that can get old after a while. 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

First of all reviewers say that this is a must own DVD for any Viva La Bam fan. I went to the network website (which all of you should know is MTV) to buy season one when I was a big fan at the time. I enjoyed it and also enjoyed it with the commentarry. I then bought seasons 2 and 3 at the same place and later also bought the second season of Punk'd. I enjoyed the other two seasons as well but before I bought season one it was told to me by my dad that I would only see it once and then it would be sitting on the shelves for a while. I still went on and bought the show on DVD. It was funny on MTV and it was funny on DVD. One of my favorite episodes was the prank war with Johnny Knoxville that I would watch over and over again but sooner or later my dad predicted this moment that I would stop watching it and the DVD would end up sitting on the shelf with other DVD's. Now I have lost intrest in watching Viva La Bam for a while. But it never sits on the shelf sometimes because my brother loves to watch it. So is it really worth buying an MTV show? Is it?

Is it staged? Another intresting question about the show. Bam doesn't care about much and enjoys destroying Don Vito's cars. Of course every time this occurs he is mad. Of course. I don't really know anyone who spends thousands of dollars on a car and doesn't get mad when it is destroyed. Except Bam. Once Bam and the CKY crew wreck Vito's house Vito strikes back and steals Bam's H2 hummer. Don Vito destroys it and Bam responds by saying I am proud of you. But if you think about the situation a little bit but still. Bam also wrecks his parents house and he doesn't care. He ruins old furniture from the old house by burning it after moving it to the new house. He doesn't care. Bam makes his parents extremely crazy. Phil seems to lazy to care but April just yells yet Bam doesn't listen. Bam doesn't care. But Bam has the talent to sure entertain the teens and others who love his show on MTV.

Earns a well deserved three stars because it was good while it lasted. But Bam should lighten up a little bit. His actions carry on too far. He is a decent person on Jackass (I wonder why) but on Viva La Bam he pushes the limits. While reading the above paragraph please don't think that I get offended by his actions because I don't. It is just the fact that Bam needs a little bit of therapy along with his family. Don Vito is funny and I will give props to him. The episodes included on the set are funny (but not extremely funny) but like I said it gets a well deserved three stars if not two and a half. This is one of those average shows that can get old after a while still.

Editorial Review:

The poster boy for how not to treat your parents is back with two more seasons of pranks, stunts and ridiculous displays of family love. In other words, we’re not sure how they can still love him. With his entourage of agitators, Bam puts April, Phil and Don Vito through even more hell as they set out to do nothing but make themselves, and all of us, laugh our asses off. From hosting a Slayer concert in his backyard to putting Phil and Don Vito through a Fatboy Face-off, turning the driveway into a skate park and setting sail to a deserted island, Bam and his boys do whatever they want.

Where, oh where, have my other seasons gone? 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This show is great fun to watch. It is one of the best entries in the "girls with guns" genre, mostly because it doesn't try to take itself too seriously.

The only thing missing are all the other seasons that came after this one. I can't believe that after all this time they still aren't out on DVD!

Editorial Review:

A campy syndicated series about Vallery Irons, a girl working at a hot-dog stand who accidentally saves a celebrity and is mistaken for a bodyguard. She and a team of beautiful bodyguards form a bodyguard agency called V.I.P. which stands for Vallery Irons Protection.

When Vallery Irons first comes to California, she has no idea that her big break will come from a date with a famous action star. While attending a Hollywood premiere, a crazed fan pulls a gun - but her movie hunk turns into a coward, and it's Vallery who becomes the hero. Suddenly, she's thrown into a world of action and danger as owner of a Hollywood protection agency (V.I.P. or Vallery Irons Protection), taking the risks to protect others at a price few are willing to pay.

Well-chosen episodes, but why allow repeats? Where are the Enterprise Episodes? 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

These fan collectives are a brlliant addition to the Trek family of DVDs. Surely only the most rabid and rich fans (rich in money AND in time!) could afford the thousands of dollars required to gather and watch all 5 series of Trek. For those of us unblessed by such qualities, these fan collectives are most welcome. Because Trek fans are among the most knowledgable (and most opinionated!) fans as a group, their populist choices to appear in these groupings of shows will represent the best episodes of each series. It also allows the viewers to see many of the 2-part episodes together without having to buy separate seasons of the shows. The only drawback is that these sets have been left entirely to the audiences' whims, without any overarching control. Thus, "City on the Edge of Forever" is in the Captain's set too; "Endgame" is in the Borg Collective. Finally, I'm disappointed that this set does not include anything from Enterprise: much of the 3rd season involved battle with a species with temporal weapons - were none of these shows more worthy that "Little Green Men"? Or worth putting on instead of "Endgame" that was already on the Borg Collective? I'm also not sure about "Tomorrow is Yesterday" as the second ToS choice - I prefer "All Our Yesterdays" and even "Assignment: Earth" is about the same level.

This set includes:

Tomorrow is Yesterday (ToS) (3.5/5) - a damaged Enterprise accidentally travels to 1960s Earth. In defending themselves, they destroy an airforce fighter and capture its pilot, who has a critical role in history. How can the crew get home and restore the timeline?

City on the Edge of Forever (TOS) (5/5) - McCoy accidentally passes through the Guardian of Forever into 1930s Earth. The timeline is changed and Kirk and Spock must right the timeline. Guest-starring Joan Collins as an idealistic soup-kitchen missionary with whom Kirk falls in love.

Time's Arrow (TNG) (3.5/5) - In its original run, I remember being quite disappointed with this cliffhanger/premier combo. It's certainly not as compelling as "The Best of Both Worlds" or "Redemption". Archaeologists on Earth discover Data's head, which has been buried in a cave for 500 years. In the course of their investigation, they discover time-travelling alien soul-sucking vampires (?!) on Earth at the end of the 19th century.

Cause and Effect (TNG) (5/5) - The precursor to the feature film, "Groundhog Day" - the Enterprise experiences the same day over and over after being stuck in a time-loop following collision with another ship. Features the most compelling "teaser" segment of all Trek shows: the Enterprise is destroyed with all hands before the opening credits!

Yesterday's Enterprise (TNG) (5/5) - during the battle that destroys her, the Enterprise C is thrown into the timeline of the Enterprise D, altering the future so that the Klingons and Federation are at war, Tasha Yar is still alive (and obviously Worf is not a member of the Enterprise D's crew). Only Guinan can sense the original timeline, and she must convince Picard to allow the Enterprise C to return to the battle (and sure destruction) to repair the timeline. This episode is supurb, but sets the stage for the very unfortunate subplot of the half-human/half-Romulan Sela who plagues future Romulan-based episodes.

All Good Things (TNG) (4.5/5) - The series finale of Next Generation. Q teleports Picard between three timelines - the "present" (season 7 of TNG), the past (Encounter at Farpoint, i.e. the beginning of Season 1), and the future, where Admiral Riker is in command of the Enterprise, the Klingons and Federation are no longer allies, and Picard is suffering from an Alzheimer-like disease. Picard is set a puzzle to solve that will save humanity if he succeeds, but destroy the entire race if he fails. A very interesting idea, but the solution is somewhat contrived, and the episode suffers on repeated viewings.

Little Green Men (DS9) (2/5) - the weakest show in the set. Nog, Quark, and Rom become the Roswell aliens after an accident with their warp drive sends them to 1950s Earth.

Trials and Tibbleations (DS9) (5/5) - taking a page from "Forrest Gump", the crew of the Defiant chase a Klingon agent back in time. The agent is trying to kill Kirk for interfering with Klingon plans during the TOS episode "Trouble with Tribbles". One extremely clever and seamless special effect has Kirk questioning Chief O'Brien about his involvement in a fight on the space station.

Year of Hell (Voy) (3.5/5) - a species tries using a time-travelling weapon to wipe out its enemies and make itself all-powerful in its region of space. Unfortunately, its "incursions" in space-time always have unintended consequences. The Voyager is caught in the middle by virtue of its temporal shielding, and attempts to find and destroy the temporal weapon while simultaneously taking on different iterations of the enemy species' conventional warships.

Endgame (Voy) 4/5 - The season finale of Voyager. Admiral Janeway, 30 years in the future, returns to "present time" Voyager with technology and a plan to get the Voyager home 25 years early, thus saving the lives of those she knows will die (or, in Tuvok's case, go insane) before Voyager makes it to Earth in the normal way. The plan involves a risky confrontation with Janeway's old nemesis, the Borg Queen, who is guarding a Borg-controlled wormhole-infested region of space.

As usual, this collective is bare-bones - text commentaries on "Tomorrow is Yesterday", "Yesterday's Enterprise", and "Little Green Men" are the only extras. But for those not wishing to purchase many Trek shows/seasons, this is a great "primer" full of worthy episodes.
