Second Season Smallville 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The year two is a continuation of the first. It reveals more and more about the Kent's and the town in general. It is of course a little hoaky and unrealistic, but entertaining.

Excellent Continuation to an Excellent Series! 5 out of 5 stars.

I love Smallville... Simple as that. Every time I hear Remy Zero belt out "Save me!" I get warm fuzzies. lol No, but this is a WONDERFUL show. I don't know if I've ever seen a show that blends great characters, great stories, great music and great acting as deftly as this show does.
A must buy for the smallville watcher!

Clark's "saved" count, season 2 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I like this season for the same reasons as the first season. Clark's discovering new powers, and it hasn't turned into a hopelessly complicated soap opera yet. And, to prove I have no life, I watched the season with a checklist in front of me, and here's what I counted as far as who Clark saved this season, and how many times.

Classic old-school Sesame Street 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

First off, viewers must be aware that this is Sesame Street from the 1970's. Many of your child's favorite characters weren't "born" yet. Also, remember that back then Sesame Street was a little edgier in that Oscar was seemingly being a little mean to Big Bird, teasing him about Santa Claus and how no one would get presents. He also didn't hesitate to talk about Santa's weight in a not very "PC" manner. Once those two facts are accepted, this is classic Sesame Street fun and sentiment. Bert and Ernie find themselves acting out The Gift of the Magi, with Mr. Hooper providing the most heartwarming moment of the film. I Hate Christmas, sung by Oscar, harkens back to what Sesame Street was back then in that it is just plain funny, but also shows what they (sadly) would never get away with in these ultra-sensitive days.

Editorial Review:

Its christmas eve on sesame street and everyone is joining in the excitement until a question from oscar throws big bird into a tailspin. I watched Sesame Street from the time I was really small and I always liked it. In fact, I can remember watching well past the "target age" of the show. However, in the last 14 years or so, I had become extremely disapointed with how much the show had been dumbed down, and the advent of a few new characters (especially Baby Bear) really messed things up. Baby Bear has the most annoying, whiny voice ever! While reading the reviews on here, I noted that several people had mentioned a speech impediment. The odd thing is that I'd never really noticed that, or cared. It was just his whole attitude that drove me up the wall. We don't having "streaming" TV (aka cable or sattelite) so my children haven't been growing up watching this as I did for which I am profoundly grateful. The show centering around Elmo is nothing like the show I remember and the few times my kids have seen it, they've wandered off within a few minutes! And they're all between 2 and 6. So I have few Sesame Street vids and they're rarely watched.

However, that being said, I was ecstatic when I discovered this at a friends house and got to borrow it. I hauled it home and prepared for a nice nostalgic journey (even if said episodes were aired over the decade before I was born), with the hopes that the kids would enjoy it as much as I. They loved it. They beg to watch it, and considering they know we only watch TV on the weekends, they don't usually ask. I also noted that several people mentioned the grainy quality and that their children wouldn't even watch it because of that. My children haven't had a problem with it, and have never mentioned it. Then again, that may be because we watch lots of old movies, including really old movies from the 30's (I mean, come on, what modern child actually likes watching the Marx Brothers? [besides mine that is]), so that may be a reason that they haven't noticed the quality. They've learned how to get around that aspect and enjoy the show for itself.

I too was a little disappointed at first when I found out there were only one episode from each season, but I quickly got over it. I enjoyed seeing how it evolved over those years (an orange Oscar?!) and I also really liked the little out takes. I was excited to see the little video of the boy fishing for the alphabet. That's one that's always stuck with me, and reminds me of my oldest now. If ever a whole collection is offered, it would be well worth it and I hope someday to be able to add it to our rather extensive collection. This is one of those rare instances where I would make an exception to the "NO TV" rule during the week.

Being a big Smallville (Superman) fan, I have enjoyed the series. Amazon always offers DVD's at such a wonderful price! I especially like the free shipping for orders over $25.00. I always receive confirmation of order placed, and shipping date. In all the years of ordering from Amazon I have only had to return 2 DVD's because they skipped. Looking forward to ordering the 6th, 7th and when available, the 8th season.
I have ordered other items as well from Amazon and have never been disappointed.

By far the weirdest season of SATC, but still good. It isn't at all what you find in season 6 but the essence of all the girls is there. The first season is more about Carrie doing research for her column by interviewing people and talking straight to the camera. The series definitely gets much better with passing seasons.

Good service 5 out of 5 stars.

Its the sopranos, its #1, its perfect. Amazon is the only place to get a good deal on it.

Just watch it! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Season 2 of the Sopranos is much like season 1, filled with a lot of character development. We also get to see more about Tony's career choice and how it affects him. We also get introduced to some new characters, the least of which is his memorable sister Janice.

Season 2 the cast and writers seemed to hit a groove, a familiarity and the show just flows along much more naturally. By season 2 I was fully addicted to the show. Getting to watch an episode or two each night was what I looked forward to all day long.

One of the best TV shows of all time. A stellar cast. Don't miss out! Buy it, rent it, borrow it from a friend...just watch it!

The DVD Value...You Already Know the Show is Great 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Each season of The Sopranos has many fine merits, and the second season is one of the best. It has the break-the-mold elements that separated it from other television fare with the betrayal by Pussy and the unexpected hit on Christopher. It has one of the darkest characters ever on television in Richie Aprile and one of the best narcissistic psychos in Janice Soprano. It also features some of the best Sopranos comedy in From Where to Eternity (when Christopher tells Tony and Paulie Walnuts that hell is an Irish bar where it's St. Patrick's Day every day and the Irish patrons win every throw of the dice in the eternal craps game happening there).

The DVDs do add a lot of value for a committed Sopranos fan. The directorial commentary is uneven, with some directors really telling you detail you'd find riveting and others just giving a basic play-by-play that you could get just by watching the show. I found about half of the commentary really interesting. For me, a strong fan, that was enough to warrant buying the DVDs. For the less committed fan, use Netflix and rent the discs.

Excellent, but wait for the Blu-Ray releases of the series ! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Well, this may be good quality --- for DVD--- but I say, 'Wait for the Blu-Ray sets of the original series to come out' ! Unlike many people think, just because a show is 'old' does NOT mean that it can not be in HD ! ANY old TV show from the 1950s or 1960s that was shot on 35MM film (like the original Star Trek, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Batman, etc.) has an original camera-negative resolution far sharper than any 1080p Blu-Ray image. It would be exactly the resolution of a theatrically projected feature film in 35MM. (Same for any feature film from the dawn of motion pictures to present day that was shot on 35MM.) 35MM is the ORIGINAL HD ! (In fact, it is three times the resolution of present 1080p HD.) (These old shows from the 1950s and 1960s were completely assembled and edited together in 35MM, and a finished 35MM print was what was delivered for broadcast to the network. Sitcoms and variety shows like ALL IN THE FAMILY, THE JOHNNY CARSON SHOW, & Soap Operas were all shot on Standard Definition Videotape.) THUS, any company releasing a Blu-Ray release of one of these old shows shot in 35MM, that goes back to the original camera negative and does an HD transfer from it, will be releasing a TRUE HD-quality version of the show on Blu-Ray (and it WILL look MUCH better than the standard DVD). The shows that WON'T benefit from Blu-Ray release are the ones shot on Standard Definition VideoTape (from say the mid-70s on up through the late 1990s, when the first HD VideoTaping of shows began). The irony is : STAR TREK NEXT GENERATION, VOYAGER, and DEEP SPACE NINE were all 'shot-on-film' (16MM, I believe; to give it the film 'look'), but the raw footage was then transfered at Standard Definition to videotape (and later digital-video) and assembled and edited on VIDEO ! So, the only complete, assembled, finished Master one can transfer these shows from are all 'Standard-Definition' Video Masters. (To create a true HD transfer of these shows would require going back to the original, uncut, raw-footage and transfering it all; then re-editing and re-assembling each and every episode from scratch once again to end up at the completed episode as we know it !) In conclusion, I expect the only 'true' Blu-Ray releases of STAR TREK that will be released will be THE ORIGINAL STAR TREK SERIES and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE (which was actually shot on HD-video). Beginning to fade 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Upon the suggestion of my soon to be father-in-law, my fiancée and I embarked upon the Odyssey that is The Sopranos. He loved it to such an extent that he began to emulate specific cultural traits of the characters. While my fiancée and I will incorporate certain "catch phrases" into our conversation we didn't take it that far.
At this point we're at the beginning of Season 5 but all the seasons' are starting to blend together. This may be high praise in the sense that the overarching storylines are so well entwined that seams are non existent or this may be damning in the sense that it's all the same and nothing stands out.
Whichever the case may be, this can be said; for these two viewers the series started off great, got better with season 2 when we admitted our commitment to it, stalled with season 3 or at least maintained itself but began to boor a bit with season 4. Of course, the outrageous highway robbing, price gouging cost of the later seasons jumping to $100.00 dollars a pop in stores has left a bad taste in my mouth just for the principle of the issue. Even Amazons discount, as good as it is, is still pricey for a series that boasts only 13 episodes per season, most of them under an hour. Don't even get me started on the price of the 6th season which has been divided into 2 boxed sets. The DVD distributors certainly took a page from the playbook of the characters being depicted in this series.

1 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I am sick of everyone telling me they like scrubs. I watched about six episodes, and didn't even smile. This the same trendy, inside-joke comedy that now rules the airwaves. Unclever, conformist jokes and mindless viewers do not equal a good show. Bottom line: Cliche beyond beleif.

excellent 5 out of 5 stars.

Witty, ironic, sarcastic, hilarious, but at the same time touching and makes you reflect on your life and relationships.

Truly amazing 5 out of 5 stars.

This is easily one of the best shows out there. I'm about to finish Nursing school and easily relate to just about everything on screen. Being dumped on, working through relationship stuff, doubting yourself, everything. Mucho kudos to the writers for making me laugh and then giving me reassurance and perspective. The series only gets better as it goes as far as I'm concerned.

Anyone that can watch My hero, My philosphy, and My lunch and not tear up isn't human. And these are just a few of the episodes over the years that have don it for me.
