Well worth your time... 4 out of 5 stars.

Viewing Rockford after all these years, I realize that my own nostalgia and an appreciation for the groundbreaking aspects of this show is much of its appeal. Pre-Rockford TV heroes typically swaggered and talked tough and never failed. Supporting characters were shallow "yes men/women" who were present to make their hero look good. Rockford, however, is surrounded by much more richly drawn and quirky characters--some true and loyal, all of them very human and many with questionable ethics and hidden agendas. Human weakness is often an important part of the plot and, occasionally, our hero fails. Clients lie, don't pay their bill and sometimes don't appreciate Jim's (clever and fruitful) efforts. In other words, Jiim's life can be just a little bit like ours--and we relate to him because of it. It's worth watching every episode.

Editorial Review:

James Garner returns in his Primetime Emmy®-winning role as detective Jim Rockford, an ex-con whose instinct for solving cases is as cool as his Pontiac Firebird. From his mobile home in Malibu, this wisecracking private eye takes on the cases of the lost and the dispossessed.

The Rockford Files, Season 2 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

James Garner absolutely shone in this role. Twenty-two episodes here prove why he is considered one of this country's greatest actors. Garner could do it all; romantic leading man, tough guy, western hero & his comedic abilities were, perhaps, his strongest area.

This series was practically tailor made for Garner being, essentially, an update of the Maverick character he had portrayed fifteen years earlier. When Stephen Cannell pitched this series to Roy Huggins (creator of Maverick & The Fugitive), Huggins told him the same thing: This is Maverick updated! Get Jim Garner to play the role.

Bonus features include the original Rockford Files pilot which ran as a Movie of the Week. It's about 72 minutes long & full of vintage Rockford, There are some subtle differences from the subsequent series, the most notable being another actor portraying his father. Also included is a short interview with Cannell discussing the creation of The Rockford Files.

Editorial Review:

Jim Rockford is back and better than ever in all 22 Season Two episodes of the celebrated detective hit The Rockford Files. Join James Garner in his breakout Emmy-winning role as the cool, calm and collected ex-con-turned-detective who loves to mouth off but avoids using his fists at all costs. He takes his time, but always solves the crime - whether it be blackmail, theft, scams or murder! Along for the ride on this five-time Emmy-winning series are such stellar guest stars as Rob Reiner, Louis Gossett Jr., Linda Evans, Isaac Hayes and Dick Butkus. Also included for the first time on DVD is the original series pilot. With his no-nonsense approach and wisecracking wit, it’s no mystery that Rockford always gets his man.

A message from Red Green

OK, SO YOU GOT A PROBLEM in that your anniversary—which you seem to recall is coming up—it’s gone by. It was yesterday and you pulled a complete blank. Total amnesia. So you need help digging your way out of this ‘cause you are now in the deep stuff. The main thing is, don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault.

WE CAN’T HELP IT—WE’RE MEN!

A lot’s been written about the differences between men and women. In fact, way too much. That’s why I’ve decided to tackle the subject on video. With help from the men of Possum Lodge (and also from my nephew Harold), I’d like to lead us to a better understanding between the various sexes. Remember, we’re all in the same boat, and women are on the shore, laughing.

I love that this came in a bulk package. Reba was one of my favourite shows, so I really enjoyed watching the first 4 seasons back-to-back. The price was also quite good considering the price for 1 DVD these days. I recommend purchasing this product!

SUCH A CLASSIC! It's Life Was Cut Too Short! 5 out of 5 stars.

Shows like "Reba" should last much longer than 6 years. Everything about it was PERFECT...the casting, the script, the humor, the realism. Everything was PERFECT, except for its life span. This is truly a "one in a million"! Can't wait to receive the 5th season, I just pre-ordered it. Hopefully #6 will come soon after.

To the REBA Cast & Crew, if you happen to read this, I want to personally thank each and everyone of you for all that you contributed in creating such a GEM! All of you have been blessed with incredible talent!

Reba, Season 1-4; Received in new condition, are still viewing DVD's.. 5 out of 5 stars.

Enjoyed "Remington Steele" when first broadcast, Boxed Set a Hit! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed this show when it was originally on TV! It was nice to be able to see it all again on high quality DVD! Some of the included special feature interviews and commentaries touch on the controversy back then, when apparrently the show had already been CANCELLED, but NetWork exersized last minute contractual options to do several special TV Movie episodes over that summer, thus pulling the rug out from under Pierce Brosnan, who's agent reportedly had already negotiated a James Bond deal! (Pierce Brosnan didn't get James Bond role until years later) Stephanie Zimbalist was great it this, her signature role. I was a bit disappointed with plot twist in last few episodes where they have Laura Holt marry Remington Steele in sham marriage to prevent his deportation, & handsome I.N.S. agent assigned to discredit marriage becomes competitive love interest romancing Laura Holt! They perpetuate continueing theme of them never really getting together! (though last scene in final episode hints that they finally do) I have quarrel with quality of DVD DISKs in set I recieved! In 3 or 4 of the disks, there were sections that would not play (picture/sound disintigrated during Doris Roberts Interview, etc) In the last season ONE OF THE DISKS WAS completely MISSING! Then the VERY LAST DISK there was TWO of them (one on top of the other -BOTH had a defect in playing at same spot on each!) Fortunately, Amazon replaced set, and on replacement set, ALL disks WORKED PERFECTLEY, with NONE missing!!

great but WAY too short--why didn't they release it all ??? 3 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

The Best of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968) is very good--but only as far as it goes. This three DVD set wastes space on the discs; we only get a few episodes and even then I strongly suspect that one or two of these episodes were trimmed down a little. The picture quality is excellent, admittedly; and the sound is good. We get three bonus interviews (one on each of the three DVDs) with Gary Owns, Ruth Buzzi and Arte Johnson.

The jokes are very funny; Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In took huge risks for its time to make audiences howl with laughter. I remember it was a big deal if we children were allowed to watch it! These episodes give us the famous Lily Tomlin act as Ernestine the telephone operator, the swinger's party were jokes with many innuendos were told ostensibly off the cuff; and the dialogue between Rowan and Martin themselves is very well written and performed.

There are several celebrity sightings on these DVDs; I liked Tiny Tim despite the fact that his act was rather bizarre; and the episode on DVD number three includes the full show that guest starred Jack Benny. Jack Benny fits in perfectly on this show; he tells jokes and gets set-up by the regular cast of Laugh-In with hilarious results.

The regular cast never fails to pitch out those jokes that even today have some very funny punch lines. Look for Goldie Hawn, Alan Sues, Judy Carne, Jo Anne Worley and Lily Tomlin (among others) to make the shows here on DVD very entertaining and funny.

Unfortunately, my main gripe (and it's a big one) is that there's just not enough here. Where are all the other shows from the first two seasons? Why do we get only four or five episodes at the most here? This is very disappointing and I will take off two stars for this flaw to make this a three star review.

Overall, Laugh-In was hilarious. This three DVD set proves it. Unfortunately, what we get is so good it can frustrate me--and others--that we didn't get so much more from the first season or two. Hopefully Rhino will eventually see the light and produce a proper retrospective of this fine series complete on DVD. This is even too short to be called a "best of" Laugh-In DVD set. Sigh.

The best show of it's time 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The year was 1974 and Rockford hit the small screen on NBC at 9pm on Fridays. From day one I was hooked. I never ever missed an episode. I also often watched the reruns on the "midnight double feature" on ABC.I have a great love for the program. I met James Garner at an airport in New York in 1990. I was working the security check point and he just walked through like it was no big deal. I was speechless. I spent my whole dinner break talking with him. People were looking at him, recognizing him, but couldn't place who he was. He got a big kick out of that. It was a day I'll never forget. He is a very nice guy. The show deserves every accolade that it gets. They just don't write 'em likey used to. 1977 was the breakthough year for the Firebird. Liked it so much I bought a '77 Firebird in 1999 and restored it to look just like Jim Rockford's. I did a reverse 180's or "J" turn in my car once and only once. It was fun. Hats off to the cast and crew of the show. I will ALWAYS be a Rockford Files fan.

Route 66 disc ease of operation 3 out of 5 stars.
8 of 12 people found this review helpful.

Each of the four season 1 volume 2 discs does not display time elapsed or remaining as they should. Menu is also confusing because you have to click on "play all" rather than "episodes" in order to access the episodes individually...they got this backwards...and it does this on all three dvd players I have. At first, I thought you could only access subsequent episodes only by advancing through chapter stops, but this fortunately is not the case. Finally, last episode on disc one stops during the end credits before they're done playing all the way through. Checked the same episode on the previous release of volume 2 of season 1 (with the goofy aspect ratio) and it does play all through the end credits like it should. Where is the quality control? The authoring needs a bit more TLC. But I'm happy all the episodes play. But three star rating for imperfect formatting.

Editorial Review:

One of the most brilliant dramas to emerge from the 60s, Route 66 was famous for its catchy Nelson Riddle theme song, intriguing characters, top-drawer writing and stellar guest star appearances. The original road trip drama, this classic television series was one of the most highly rated of the era, also establishing the Corvette as an American icon.

Now, this special collector s set including all 30 episodes of season one (1960-61) is digitally remastered and available on DVD for the first time since the original airing. Due to support from fans of the series all episodes are now in their original aspect ratio!

So with Martin Milner and George Maharis at the wheel and a new adventure around every corner, come along for the ride and get your kicks on Route 66!

"If it was easy to be good at law enforcement, wouldn't we be?"---Junior 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Season 4 is not as good as Season 3, but there are still some excellent episodes here, especially the last one but also episodes 8, 9, and 10. Also there are a couple of familiar characters from Season One who show up. The cliffhanger looks like it's going to be an interesting Season 5!

Disc 1:
Episode 1--Cliffhangers from last season are resolved. Let's just say skin-to-skin contact is the best way to guard against hypothermia. Wiegel comes back from her personal leave with, as Clemmy calls it, a "gargoyle" in the oven. Dangle tries out for Westside Story...sort of. Carrot Top goes berserk at a hotel. Highlight: Garcia and Jones use a common interrogation tactic called "Good Cop, Black Cop."
Episode 2:--"There's going to be a full set of teeth in the Junior household," as Travis's 3 brothers come for a visit. Garcia works undercover in an illegal worker sting. Wiegel starts Lamaze.
Episode 3--Kimball tricks the guys with a phony race riot. A deputy dies and the officers do what any caring co-workers would--argue over who gets his jet ski. Junior and Dangle look for guns turned in for the "Guns for Toys" drive that Wiegel spilled across the road.

Episode 4--A deputy panty raid goes horribly wrong. The Sheriff's Department has to compete with the citizen's patrol, played by Paul "Pee-Wee Herman" Reubens, to solve crimes. Garcia is visited by the hooker he tried to help in Season One. Dangle and Junior try to get free tacos from Terry.
Episode 5--"Spanish Mike" Alvarez, who tricked the Reno Sheriff's Department in Season One posing as a representative from Home Land Security with a fake training program, returns to Reno to be held before being turned over to the FBI. He tries to get into the officers' heads in his attempts to escape. Will any officer give in? Also, Clemmy choreographs a street dance at a sobriety checkpoint.
Episode 6--The Sheriff is killed and his last words to Lt. Dangle are to avenge his death. Dangle suspects the sheriff's hot wife and her foreign driver and, later, discovers something about the sheriff that may help break the case wide open. Also, the Renaissance Fair guy gets stuck in a toilet.
Episode 7--The Sheriff's Department attend the Sheriff's funeral where Dangle, Wiegel, and Junior have dream sequences. They then solve the case on how he died. The pallbearer scene is hilarious.

Disc 2:
Episode 8--The Reno Sheriff's Department is sponsored by "Hotty's"--a sports bar with well-endowed waitresses--which controls what the officers drive, wear, even how they give the Miranda Rights. The officers, also, can only eat food from Hotty's. Let's just say the partnership was a gas. Those Hotty's girls make Trudy Wiegel seem like a Phi Beta Kappa.
Episode 9--Kimball invites Clemmy to a get-together which turns out to be a church social (which follows Kimball's personality--remember how enthused she was by the singing drug dealer who sang religious/drug songs on the street in season 3?). Kimball is happy for Clemmy "showing up as she is: a woman soiled, a woman with a whorish, sinful past." Later, Clemmy gets baptized wearing nothing under her baptismal gown. Churchgoer: "Babies are naked when they get baptized, I think it's all right." Kimball: "Well, babies don't have Double 'D' hooters." Good one.
Episode 10--One of my favorites. It's election day, and Proposition C will determine whether the Reno Sheriff's Department gets a 3% raise. Garcia and Jones work with an undercover female detective who's trying to bust a meth cartel and they keep getting beat up by her to make her involvement with the drug dealers look convincing.
Episode 11--Jones and Garcia join the mounted patrol but Garcia is allergic to horses. Jones won't give up his mounted status to rejoin Garcia. Kimball discovers that Junior's been shot and, at his dying request, kisses him and swears she will make whoopie with him if he pulls through. They then find out they have a connection in other ways.

Episode 12--Kimball tries to arrest a modern-day Houdini. Jones talks to a school about feelings of inadequacy in the shower--"especially some of you--probably the white boys." There is a murdering/rapist kid. Otherwise, it's just the usual stuff. There is no main storyline to follow.
Episode 13--The officers try out the jaws of life. Williams, Wiegel, and Kimball watch a stakeout like a soap opera. Dangle goes to his ex-wife and her husband's anniversary party--and he's the only guest. Weird and this will have ramifications later.
Episode 14--We finally find out who is wearing the mascot getup at the school--and he asks Dangle to be his life partner. Dangle tries to prepare his "bridesmaids"--Jones, Garcia, and Junior--for the commitment ceremony. Even the cameraman gets dressed up. Trudy gets stuck naked in a cake...and her water breaks! Hilarious with surprises and cliffhanger for the next season.

Editorial Review:

The officers of the Reno, Nevada Sheriff's department are back with a fourth season of Reno 911! that's full of murder intrigue, and a disturbingly (and mysteriously) pregnant Officer Wiegel. From committing election fraud to donning hot pink uniforms and blowing up various large items, the officers give their all in every episode after gloriously inept episode.

Whats the diff?? 2 out of 5 stars.
5 of 9 people found this review helpful.

What different from this box set and i one i already own. There is no mention of any extras. So I guessing it just the cover art?Love Roswell, love Kate Heigl but i won't be buying new sets just for some new cover art with her more to the front and telling me she's an emmy winner!

5/5 for the set, 1/5 for the useless repackaging 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Of all 3 seasons of Roswell, the second is my favorite. The first was more of Dawson's Creek with a sci-fi twist and the third just got too weird, but season 2 was near perfection. The story arcs are wonderful, and the addition of Emilie de Ravin to the main cast might have been the best thing to happen to Roswell. Plus, the widescreen presentation gives a great theatrical feel to the show. The only thing that bugs me is that I don't get why Fox had to re-release these sets, other than being another way to suck money out of loyal fans.

I Never Could Have Believed This Show Could Improve This Much 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

*NOTE ON EDITION*
I like that this series is being re-released on DVD with a new look, but I think it's absolutely preposterous that Fox is trying to make it look like Katherine Heigl was the star of the show. It's disrespectful to the rest of the cast, to the writers, and even to Katherine Heigl fans, because even the producers said that she was the *least* developed of all the main characters. This season of Roswell gets a 9/10, but this edition gets a 1/10.

I have never witnessed a television show improve so much. Season One of Roswell was average at best with many, many problems, but all of that changes in Season Two. The series became much more dependant on story arcs and developing the characters. These changes are mostly due to Ronald D. Moore joining the staff as co-executive producer and co-show runner, and what he brings to the table is brilliant.

The episodes we get here are leagues better than I expected. Each of these episodes (some of which are very experimental, particularly "Summer of 47") are better than any episode from the first season. Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr, who star as the central characters Max and Liz, get a lot less screen time here, and that's for the better. The supporting cast is phenomenal, delivering some of the best acting you'll see in serialized television. Shiri usually delivers--I apologize, Liz fans--an awkward performance and, while she is still credited first, is no longer the main character. Max, Michael, and Isabel have become the main characters, and Maria (rightfully so) has as many scenes as Liz does.

The story arcs were probably the best addition. From the threat of the Skins, the Sherrif Valenti being fired/Laurie Dupree story, and the mystery of the death of a main character, this season has a much more focused feel to it. There are certainly standalone episodes here as well, though. "Summer of 47" is the first "perfect" episode of the series, and the experimental nature of this episode is the thing that made me realize I was watching something special. "A Roswell Christmas Carol" is as good a Christmas special as any I've seen, and "Viva Las Vegas" was a chance to let the characters and audience get away from the darkness of the season without ignoring the weight of what has already happened. As far as other positives, I also loved the addition of Brody and the family dynamic between Sherrif Valenti, Tess, and Kyle.

I'd love to dub this a "classic" season, but though this season is astoundingly good, there are a few errors. The threat of Nicholas was dropped, the "dupes" of Michael and Isabel were badly written, and "The Departure" was pretty much a character assassination in the form of a Roswell episode. However, those problems--big as the latter is--won't take away from the overall enjoyment this season will give fans and newcomers alike. If I were to recommend this series, I would say to start at Season Two. It is an improvement from Season One in every way imaginable.

9/10
