Reno-911 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I am disappointed with my purchase- I ordered at the same time I ordered 4 other porducts and received everything else within the week. Although it did say up to 14 days- In today's world I have a hard time understanding why a DVD would take 2 weeks to deliver. It was a Christmas gift and of course I received after Christmas. I would not buy from this distributor again!

Don't let low production values fool you 4 out of 5 stars.

The look of the show is low end, but the laughs are top notch. I've missed many episodes, yet whenever I see one they are hysterical. The laughs come in unexpected places so don't eat or drink while watching. What happened to network comedies? Why are they so mediocre in comparison?

Laughed so hard 5 out of 5 stars.

If you have a sophisticated sense of humour then this probably isn't for you. But I laughed til I cried. Some of it is subtle, some of it will make you cringe but well worth watching

Corny comedy - some love it, some don't 3 out of 5 stars.

My husband and I bought this DVD set for his brother, who is a police officer. Both my husband and his brother absolutely love this series. They think it is so funny. On the other hand, my mother-in-law and me think its totally corny and doesn't impress us one bit. To each his own, I guess. I admit it does have some funny parts in it, though. I just didn't appreciate some of the rude and/or immoral comments and scenes that are portrayed. This is NOT a series for the young ones, or anyone who gets disgusted at the sight of a man kissing another man, etc. Even my husband didn't think scenes like that were necessary to make this a funny series.

Editorial Review:

A clown with a heart of gold, Red Skelton's mission in life was to make people laugh. A first-class comedian, Skelton won the world over with his legendary alter-egos including Junior the Mean Widdle Kid (famous for the expression, "I dood it"); country bumpkin Clem Kadiddlehopper; clown hobo Freddie the Freeloader; con man San Fernando Red; henpecked husband George Appleby; drunkard Willie Lump Lump; boxer Cauliflower McPugg; and the not-so-honest lawman, Sheriff Deadeye. These characters and more made appearances on his popular television series The Red Skelton Show--the second longest running TV show in history at twenty years of broadcasting. For the duration of this time, Skelton's series maintained top ten and top twenty ratings and won several awards. Packed with celebrity guests, pratfalls, pranks, and silly sketches, The Red Skelton Show continues to delight audiences time and time again, proving that Red Skelton is indeed "America's favorite funnyman."

Editorial Review:

It takes a lot of heart to keep a family like this one together. Country music superstar Reba McIntyre is back as Reba Hart, and as always, keeping the peace in her household is one hilarious challenge after another. Amid Brock and Barbara Jean's marital troubles, Cheyenne's personal struggles, Van's career crisis, and Kyra's growing pains, Reba somehow manages to keep the whole family functioning at a level just above dysfunctional. A little love, it turns out, goes a long way. Vibrant, touching, and laugh-out-loud funny, Season Four of Reba has it all!

Yet another great season of Roseanne-I just love this show and when the series took a turn and the family won the lottery, it all went downhill from there. So I will be stopping my collection at that point. However, this is a great season.

Another Great Season 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

If you own the first four seasons, then I highly recommend adding this one to your already growing collection. There are tons of guest apperances threw out this season, if you didn't watch this season when it aired on tv, and are seeing it for the first time on this dvd set, then you'll be surprised, like I was. This set is packed with 16 great episodes, over 40 min. of extended scenes and lots more

They're at it again!!! 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Another satisfying entry in the "Reno 911" saga. Our usual gang of inept cops do their awkward best to keep crime off the streets in their fair city. By now, devout fans are probably able to predict how scenes will conclude given 4 seasons worth of similar material, but there are some fresh ideas and fun new exploration here. Be sure to add it to your collection!

"It's like 'Weekend at Bernie's' except you're alive and you'd rather be dead."---Trudy 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I was really looking forward to season 5 because the cliffhangers from season 4 were so good. I'll admit, I was disappointed in how the cliffhangers turned out. Still, this is a good season. I like the addition of the animal shelter public service announcements. They were very funny. The hypothetical guy was used a little too much, though. I didn't find him all that funny. There are several laugh-yourself-to-tears moments in this season, including the lottery misprint, the talking stuffed bunnies, under-age groping sting, and the clown car. The bonus material is very good, too. Is it just me or is Trudy becoming more normal as the series progresses (well, relatively speaking).

Disc 1:
1. Season 4 left some awesome cliffhangers--Lt. Dangle is about to marry the man of his dreams only to have Garcia steal his man away and Wiegel has a baby courtesy of a sperm bank with the donor being one of her co-workers. The former is resolved but the latter only partially so. I was disappointed that one question will never be answered. We also get to meet Terry's fiancee--a surprisingly respectable woman. Highlight: Clemmy's lizard psa.
2. Wiegel participates in the Neighbors and Friends program. The guys get on the Tommy Hawk Bounty Hunter TV show and look like, well, what you'd expect (their revenge is very funny, though). The sheriff's dept. hires a former sex slave to run dispatch.
3. According to the commentary, this was the highest rated episode. The women get more form-fitting vests which they wear without shirts with beneficial results. Dangle finally asks Junior why he wears his vest over his shirt. An ex-con, who Dangle and Jones do not remember, comes back from prison for revenge. Question--Junior is seen with a ring and checking his breath in the bar with his co-workers. Was he going to propose to Kimball before he shot her?
4. George Lopez plays the mayor who is involved in 7 felonies. As Wiegel puts it, "His breath smelled like my Uncle Carl before he told me, 'let's keep it between the two of us.'"
5. It's coconut nut cluster selling time and Kimball and Jones find this job to be more dangerous than their regular jobs.
6. Dangle's father, who had abandoned him to start a black family in Chicago, dies and Dangle's half-siblings arrive in Reno to settle the will. Dangle gets Raineesha to pretend to be his girlfriend. Highlight: A ransom note is over-steamed and the gang has to piece together the cut-out letters to read the message.
7. Seth Green guest stars posing as the manager of a frequently-robbed fast food restaurant and makes life miserable for his new employees--Jones and Garcia working undercover.

Disc 2:
8. Junior and Garcia participate in "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors" which Dangle describes as "Burning Man for right-wing rednecks." Under-age groping sting in conducted with Trudy dressed like a school girl--that sketch brought tears to my eyes.
9. Junior conducts health inspections of brothels. A popcorn machine is set up in the precinct. Jackie the prostitute (played by Trudy Wiegel's Kerri Kenney-Silver, or course) is in the hospital. I find it strange that Garcia did not visit her as he once tried to help her. The sheriff's department becomes a safe baby surrender site.
10. The Reno sheriff's dept. trains a Iraqi police unit. Clemmy tells a group of young people the correct way to drive drunk. Dangle and Wiegel score a coke bust involving talking stuffed bunnies.
11. Trudy, Clemmy, and Jonesy think they've won the lottery and it turns into one of the funniest Reno 911 sketches ever. At the end of the episode, we see that another officer didn't hear about the lottery misprint, too, but reacts in a very uncharacteristic way. Dangle has a bad experience with a tanning bed.
12. Raineesha is featured in Strong Sister Magazine. The guys need to enforce the 6-foot from strip dance law. Trudy works undercover in a strip club.
13. An American Indian shows up looking for his daughter "among the warriors"--Trudy Wiegel. Junior tries to bust a prostitution ring running through a Thai take-out and keeps getting taken out by angry delivery girls.
14. Junior runs for Department of Animal Carcass Removal Commissioner. You get to see Junior take off his dark glasses in his campaign commercial and understand why he always wears them!

Disc 3:
15. An acting coach trains the Reno Sheriff Dept to improve their undercover work. There is another reunion between an officer and father which is even more puzzling than the previous one. Highlight: tragedy inside a clown car.
16. The dept. designs a float for the Law Enforcement Parade in Carson City which leads to a cliffhanger. Trudy gets extra friendly with a police dog.
Extras: Psychological evaluations of all the officers and extended scenes.

I really love this show. It is so funny. Beware of language - not for children or those offended by crude talk. It's comedy you dont really have to think about.

Great Season! 5 out of 5 stars.

Reno 911 is by far one of Americas funniest parody TV shows. I enjoyed Season 2 and episode 2 "Wiegel's New Boyfriend" is one of the best episodes yet. The episode revolves around Deputy Trudy Wiegel having a new boyfriend who isn't all there but neither is she... The others soon realize he's The "Truckee River Killer" and attempt to do some "recon" work when invited to his house for dinner. Lt. Jim Dangle once again makes this season extra good with his short shorts and flamboyant personality.

I was extremely happy with Amazon's service. You can not purchase Reno anywhere in Australia so Amazon was the first place I looked and I will defiantly be a returning customer :)

Rawhide - The Complete First Season 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Rawhide was an excellent Western that ran on CBS 1958-1965. This wouldn't have been my first choice for a TV Western though, that would've been Maverick if Warner Bros. will ever release it. Rawhide is a CBS/Paramount product so it's not their fault. Rawhide was the launching pad for Clint Eastwood's career. He had been around for several years acting in movies ranging from bit roles to substantial roles but never actually being in a major featured role. Some of his credits from the fifties include the movies Tarantula & Francis the Talking Mule. Clint Eastwood learned many things while on Rawhide: acting & directing being the main two. It was unfortunate though, Hollywood wouldn't give Eastwood an opportunity to be a leading man, he had to go to Italy & star in three spaghetti Westerns for Sergio Leone before he would get his chance in America.

The TV series actually stars Eric Fleming as Gil Favor, trail boss. Fleming wasn't a household name either, he had also been around Hollywood for a while, not really getting somewhere either. He had starred in some grade C movies but stardom eluded him. It's unlikely that anyone remembers Fleming other than viewers of Rawhide or movie buffs. It's for that reason that Eastwood is more featured on the covers, he is, after all, the most recognizable face from the series.

The DVD set features all 22 episodes of the first (actually a half) season of Rawhide. The picture quality is excellent but bonus material is scant. The bonus material consists of production notes for each episode & a short Clint Eastwood biography, one per disc. Rawhide also featured Paul Brinegar as Wishbone & Sheb Wooley as Pete Nolan, both were good friends of Eastwood who would later use them in a few of his movies. Robert Cabal is in one episode as Hey Soos (which just goes to show that Hollywood was ignorant and/or extremely scared they would offend somebody, it's spelled J-e-s-u-s.). The one thing I found to be odd occured in the final episode. Sheb Wooley had the starring role for that particular episode, "Incident of the Roman Candles". Producers nowadays wouldn't ever have a featured cast member starring in the final episode of the season.

"Head 'em up! Move 'em out!" Rollin', rollin', rollin'....

Hilarious sitcom about an unlikely family... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Reba McEntire stars as Reba Hart, a mother of three whose husband Brock (Christopher Rich) has recently left her for his pregnant dental assistant. Meanwhile, another blow struck as Reba discovered her 17-year-old daughter Cheyanne was also expecting.

Now, the second year focuses upon teenage parents Cheyanne (Joanna Garcia) and Van (Steve Howey), who live in Reba's house with their baby daughter Elizabeth. The two are truly unequipped for the real world, and constantly come up against blows from the workforce and college.

There's also little Henry, the son of Brock and Barbra Jean. While Reba would love to forget the very existence of the baby -- as well as his clueless, ditzy mother -- for some inane reason Barbra Jean is determined to become her new best friend.

Meanwhile, Reba's youngest, Jake, is only eight; and smart, sarcastic middle child Kyra (Scarlett Pomers) acts out from the pressures of being the only sane person around.

What's a woman to do? Most in Reba's situation would fall apart, but not her. Even when things are at their darkest, Reba's wit allows her to laugh and see the good -- though in no way is her character, or the show, sappy or sentimental. Rather, the imperfect Hart family strives to live each day to the fullest, making the best of each day however they can.

Particularly memorable Season 2 episodes include "A Moment in Time," where various family members end up quarreling over the things they reveal in a video they're making for baby Elizabeth; as well as Reba's first forays into dating; a more introspective look at Van's upbringing; and Kyra's increasing unhappiness with living in her mother's house.

Give this show a try -- I guarantee you'll be hooked instantly!

Editorial Review:

Country legend and recent Broadway sensation Reba McEntire stars in Reba, a hilarious and spirited look at the "perfect" American family gone awry. The perfect holiday gift for every Reba fan.

As good as television sitcoms can get. The high point for this iconic series. Every episode in this season is well-written, expertly directed, and beautifully acted. With a strong story arc and Roseanne's confident vision, this season feels like one long movie. Each episode paints a picture of a loving, modern-day family trying to survive in a difficult and challenging world. As a whole, it is a masterpiece of storytelling.

Editorial Review:

For the Conner household, it was the year of Lanford Custom Cycles and Rodbell’s Luncheonette, Roseanne’s breast reduction and bingo addiction, Becky’s birth control, Dan’s bowling team, Darlene in black, a Las Vegas wedding and even an alien abduction. There’s an unforgettable Halloween, an outrageous Thanksgiving, one very surprising mall Santa, a Mother’s Day surprise and much more, all in this classic season of the comedy series that changed television forever. Martin Mull, Bonnie Bramlett, Sandra Bernhard, Natalie West and Tom Arnold co-star in these 25 uncut episodes featuring such guest stars as Bob Hope, George Clooney, Wayne Newton, Shelley Winters, David Crosby, Neil Patrick Harris, Rick Dees, Estelle Parsons and more.
