THE MUSIC!! 3 out of 5 stars.

Ladies and Gentlemen, take my advice... go to amazon.co.uk and order the British releases of these DVDs, if you have a player that will support them. They use the ORIGINAL music, not the stuff on the DVDs released in the U.S. Also, if you do the conversion, they cost the same if not less even with shipping. Please also do not order the British complete package, as you cannot play the final episode, according to several posters. Get each season separately. It adds up to about the same. I live in VA and it was only 12 GBP to ship all five seasons. Well worth it, if you want the series the way it was intended. My two cents...

Putting right what once went wrong... 5 out of 5 stars.

I have been striving to see them put right what has been wrong for so very long, what with Quantum Leap not being released on DVD. Now that it is finally out, my next leap will be a leap home, so I can sit in front of my TV and watch all five seasons. :)

Play it again, Sam 5 out of 5 stars.

Theorizing that he could time travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the quantum accelerator and onto dvd. Years later after the series ended Quantum Leap still has that spark that drew me in when i was younger. i watch each episode now with the same wonder in my eyes as i did many years ago. As many fans of this show know Sam never made it home but at least he will have a home in my dvd collection.

Great, but not one through four 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

We have the first four seasons and obviously if you have four...you gotta' make the series complete. The acting is, as you'd expect, on par with the first four seasons, but some of the story lines were a bit weak.
Loved this show, but season five WAS a good place to end it...though Al's ending seemed appropiate, Sam's ending was---What??
But hey, it's just a TV show.

Quantum Leap does not disappoint 5 out of 5 stars.

I have always loved the show Quantum Leap. But I must have missed some of the shows in the final season or I just don't remember them. I loved the final season DVDs because it gave me a chance to watch and re-watch. I was thoroughly entertained.

I love Quantum Leap 5 out of 5 stars.

I have watched Quantum Leap when it was on NBC.I have fallen in love as one gentleman wrote in the review for this dvd and I think I understand why cause it is so well written, the acting is top rated and the shows deal with issues that move me.
Some of my favorites are all on this one and on season 2 and three.
I do not think there will ever be such a wonderful written and acted show like this in this lifetime.

I got this as a gift for my husband. He enjoyed it immensely. Very pleased.

Isn't worth buying. 2 out of 5 stars.

My main complaint is the double sided DVDs.
So far the first ep doesn't work right. Around 32 mins in, it stops working. I usally try to put movies on my Zune Media player. So with this problem with the DVDs, it's not possible. From reading other reviews, other people are having this problem. So far the music edited isn't a huge thing for me, since I can't remember much about the show with the music. I do think the music editing was a very bad idea though.
I hope in the future, they will release the seasons on one sided DVDs, and with the music included.
I'd buy them in a heart beat.

Sometimes, TV shows start to lose their magic and their stride during certain seasons. Friends was always my favourite TV show, and that lost it during the third season. But that's the only one I can really comment on, unless I talk about Lois & Clark etc :)

This season starts off with the emotional The Leap Home part one and two. I'd previously seen them before, some random time they were put in, but I don't really connect with them at that point, because it was really my first introduction to Quantum Leap. But with seeing the first two seasons, and actually loving it, I was glad to revisit The Leap Home episodes. I'd stupidly asked when I first started the first season, does he ever leap back into himself? And I got my answer in the first two episodes of this season. He leaps into his sixteen-year-old self, with a dad who's spookily played by Scott Bakula too, who's about to die in a few years, and a brother who's away fighting the war in Vietnam. I did kinda hate this first episode, as Scott plays his own character AND his Dad, which was quite surreal to watch. Very creepy. The second episode, where he has to save his brother from dying was very weird, especially when one of the photos that is taken! I did actually have to rewind this point, to believe what I was actually seeing. Tia Carrere stars in this episode.

The rest of the episodes are quite good, and Sam leaps into different people, from a priest who meets the future Sylvester Stallone; to a magician; beauty pageant contestant; to a black man in love with a white girl; an aging motorcyclist (didn't like this episode); an eight and a half months pregnant girl (VERY interesting episode); to a man on Death row and many others.

Some of my favourite episodes included 8 & A Half Months, Private Dancer (which features the excellent deaf actress Rhondee Beriault) and a couple of others. Look out for Lauren Tom in Southern Comforts, you will recognise as playing Ross's girlfriend Julie in early episodes of Friends. ALSO look out for Jane Sibbett, who played Ross's ex wife Carole in Friends.

The last episode again is very emotional. Sam leaps into a patient at a mental hospital, with a sadistic nurse who gives him electro shock treatment, causing him to get his past leaps muddled and shows Scott's excellent ability to master accents. But it starts to affect his link with Al, who discovers he can also be seen by the other patients in the hospital, and makes up the Alphabet Song. Dean Stockwell rapping? Yes, it has to be seen to be believed! But just as I thought Quantum Leap was starting to get a tad repetitive - well, I won't spoil it for you, but the last scene ends series 3 on a totally different note, and should lead to some laughs in the next series.

Speaking of the songs, Scott gets to sing a song in this called "Somewhere In The Night", which although not on par with his version of "Imagine", is still excellent, and equally haunting.

A great season, and I can't wait to see the next series. Shame I've only got two more seasons to go, and I'm dying to find out what happens at the end, but I'll get there eventually.

Gay or Straight 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

If you've never watched it, you should. If you've watched it before, you should watch it again. This is Showtime's greatest series by far- the edgy, gay Sex in the City.

Vivid portrayal of Gay Lifestyle 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Even tho I am Gay and against drug use, it is a fact of life. The use in this video is a realist view of gay life. The developement of Brian Kinney's personality, and that of all of the characters is an eyeopener to all. Sex, drugs, and booze!! the three "musts" of gay life, as perceived by outsiders. The reality of it is: we are no different than our straight counterparts. Some of us (straight and gay) use drugs, sex, and booze as a means to finding a better life. QUEER AS FOLKS follows both guys, and the gals in their quest for love, and happiness. It was a laugh, and a cry, to watch the 7 main characters as they went thru life.
I reconmmend this as a "Must View" for all gay, and straight, people.

Good series - bad case design. 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This comment is for the box set. The series is great but the case design is crappy. All the dvd's are lose in the set. Every time you open a season the dvd's fall out. Mine wasn't scratched but I can see how that can happen.

quantum leap fans take note 5 out of 5 stars.

anyone who is a fan of quantum leap would want to buy this. It has the stories of when scott was a kid, a goood halloween episode and some others.

"Running For Honor" episode is worth value of the whole set 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My brother told me about the episode "Running For Honor" when it aired in Australia in the early nineties - but I had to wait for the DVD (in 2007) to see it myself. I'm impressed with how entertaining this episode is, while also dealing with a wide range of the issues around homophobia (including internalised homophobia).

I particularly appreciate that Sam is totally at ease in his temporary new skin as naval sports jock Tommy - readily accepting Ziggy's strong prediction (86%) that Tommy is gay.

Previous seasons of Quantum Leap have informed us that Sam Beckett is honest, compassionate and refreshingly free of prejudice. And so in this program Sam quickly pulls Al back into line for making ill-informed value judgements about Tommy's natural mannerisms.

This show has relevance to gays to the military - but it's really a universal statement that homophobia is everyone's problem.

I've always had a crush on Scott Bakula (and a boyhood crush on Dean Stockwell). I now have even more respect for these two fine actors.

This episode alone is well worth the purchase price of the 4th season DVD set. The quality of the video and stereo audio on the DVDs of all five seasons are first class.

Quincy, M.E. - Seasons 1 & 2 5 out of 5 stars.

Quincy, M.E. was the original CSI. Each show was unique and Quincy always added the personal touch to each crime investigation. I am a big fan of the Quincy TV series and I highly recommend to all those CSI fans that they look into buying seasons 1 and 2. TV charactors like Quincy only come along once in a lifetime.

Quincy DVD

Excellent. This is NOT a CSI show. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I see a lot of comparisons to CSI, but let's face it - Quincy is not that. CSI is an entertaining show, but it's filled with two-dimensional men with bulging muscles, women with low-cut blouses, and labs that are lit with dramatic lighting & lots of pretty decorations. When was the last time you walked into a lab that looks like that?!?!? In a word, CSI is T&A and pretty sets - Shallow.

Quincy is all heart.

Quincy works in a boring, sterile, white-colored laboratory that is dull in appearance, but Jack Klugman pours his heart into the character and makes the show exciting. As Quincy says to a bunch of college students, "You may not have any interest in forensics, but I do, and I am passionate about my work. If you have no interest in this class, leave now so I can go back to doing what I love." Quincy loves solving the mystery, loves overcoming obstacles, and loves catching the bad guy.

Passion. Dedication. Morality. That's what sets Quincy above the CSI clones and made it one of the most successful series on television (8 years worth of episodes). Don't mistake this for CSI - Quincy is better than that.

Sizzling Hott Finale 5 out of 5 stars.

The Gang is back and this time more trendy, hotter, sexier and irresistable......

I wish the show was never ending but nevertheless having a Collector's Edition makes me feel special..

The show is groundbreaking and has certainly changed my life in some ways.

Sublime series 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Since QAF 's not out yet here in Belgium (got the pun??), I ordered it for the fifth time at Amazon and I must say, the combination of daring erotics, drama, suspense and classical soap elements makes this series a real must-have for all queers and their friends.
Every character is well taken care of, nice stories, real-life plots, excellent acting, great score and typical music.
Stopping after 5 seasons may be good, because we really don't want this cult series to degenerate into hollow, brainless entertainment just because there's a market for it.
Great job. Snifffff ..

A fitting end to a landmark series 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The fifth & final season of "Queer as Folk" did not disappoint. If anything, the producers, writers & cast met their subject matter dead on, with an unfaltering eye. Notable was the ongoing (and incredibly messy) custody battle between Lindsay, Melanie & biological father Michael; the creators smartly realized that situations such as this are not neatly resolved within an episode or two. Repercussions linger long after, and friendships/relationships are put to the test.
There were wonderful guest appearances from Rosie O'Donnell & Cyndi Lauper, the latter's participation signalling a bombing at Babylon which changed many lives forever. Most shocking was the 360-degree turnaround of Brian, who changed his ways, rejected promiscuity and made an announcement which made all jaws drop: He was marrying Justin & settling down for good. But as with the custody battle storyline, there are no easy answers as things take a complicated turn.
Emmett (who took a fun whirl aa a gay celebrity) helped closeted football player Drew deal with a scandal & embrace his homosexuality; unlucky-at-love Ted (who also boosted his confidence with plastic surgery) got a much-deserved ending by hinting at a possible romantic rekindling with old boyfriend Blake; Debbie flirted with retirement from the diner to spend more time with live-in boyfriend/policeman Karl; and Hunter faced HIV prejudice at school and accepted Michael & Ben's proposal to become their son for good. Concluding this all was an appropriate, heartwarming fadeout as Michael philosophizes that "we all follow the 'thumpa-thumpa' of life's dance beat. It's what drives us".
There is not a weak performance from anyone in this series, leading or supporting roles alike. It's sad to see this series exit the airwaves. However, it has made such a deep impression in portaying the gay lifestyle with such frankness that other future series will be hard pressed to meet its levels of quality.

Edgy and Sexy -- not for those uncomfortable with either 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I was first exposed to this show on the tv channel LOGOS this summer but I knew they were cutting out language and scenes. The DVD has everything so if you are uncomfortable with same sex action, male-male or female-female stay away. That said this is not pornography in that the sex while highly suggestive does not show penetration and rarely full frontal. The show is also not for anyone who has tender ears because the characters swear up a storm. If you like to see characters struggle with their everyday lives, society, and a solid dose of hot male bodies then I highly recommend season 1 on DVD. I most also commend the writers and producers for doing a lot of foreshadowing for later seasons which bespeaks of quality work and committee to the project from everyone.

A co-worker of mine told me that back in the day, people used to run home to watch this show. Now, I know why!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

And after watching this show, to add to what my co-worker told me, I would've taken the WHOLE day off in anticipation to what was in store for me for what was going to happen next on this show!!!

'Cause that's how you start to feel once you get into this show. I mean, I was totally hooked after watching the first episode--if not, after watching the first minute!!!

I found myself liking all of the characters instantly and I liked how most of the characters are all connected to each other in one way or the other, like how Emmett and Michael are roommates. Ted is secretly in love with Michael. And how even though Michael and Brian are best friends, Michael, in his own way has a thing for Brian and Brian, in my opinion, has a thing for Michael--even though Brian's never going to admit that.

I also liked the overall tone of the show. And how it could somehow balance itself with having a scene go in one direction towards the outrageous (insert Brian here) and then how it could go in a very down to earth, very human and touching direction (also, insert Brian here.)

I guess I just have a thing for the Brian character and though how on the surface, he might be plotting and making everything be all about him--you just have to wait for the moments when it's just him and Michael and you get a glimpse that there's a whole lot more cooking with him.

To get an example of this, please see the episode wherein the fellas are heading out to New York to find Justin, who's run away. There's a moment, when the car gets a flat and Emmett and Ted have to fix it and Brian and Michael sneak away to share a joint.

As the scene unfolds, Brian tells Michael how much he means to him. And then before you know it, the two of them are kissing.

But that's not the part, that gets to you. It's how when Ted & Emmett start telling them that the car is ready, it's like Brian holds onto Michael maybe a little longer than he has to and while doing this, Brian at this point kisses Michael on the forehead. That one little scene tells you just how human Brian really is. (Incidentally, those were always my favorite scenes throughout the show--the little moments that were quiet and unassuming--you might have to really look for them, but man are they worth it!) :)

Anyway, I can't say enough about this show. I hope everyone out there who hasn't watched this show, will give it a try. I think you'll be very surprised in more ways than one.

I know I was!

(Also, a BIG shout out to the phenomenal Hal Sparks!!!) What he gave to the character Michael was truly amazing!!! I can't imagine the WHOLE world not falling in love with him. (I know I did!!!)

I loved the second season!!! It's a bummer that I bought the first two season and then realized that the whole series would be out soon! But all in all for all of you QaF fans this is a must have!

A strong, gripping second season of what is becoming one of the best shows on television 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

A pitch-perfect first season of a TV show is a rarity, and Queer as Folk - The Complete First Season was just that. Here comes season two, which is just as strong, but more watchable as we don't have to deal with necessary explanations and are able to get into the drama easily, since we care so much for these characters.
And what a drama it is! After the shocking season finale of the first season (the best season finale I've ever seen, and the one that made jump out of my seat and ring a friend so we could discuss it), we find our favorite TV "family" dealing with various issues of acceptance, stereotypes, life and death. Justin (Randy Harrison) and Brian (Gale Harold), around who the first season centered, are in the spotlight again, with Justin dealing with the shock and trauma of his past experiences, and Brian basically just trying to ignore the fact how much their relationship has developed and how much he cares for that kid. Jealousy grows, especially after Justin's questionable career choice. Emmett also gets a shocking job, and a bigger role, which leads to a new relationship, heartbreak and genuine drama. As for Michael (Hal Sparks), the "narrator" of the show and the character off whom all the problems bounce off finds a new boyfriend Ben (newcomer Robert Gant) and needs to deal with his own issues that develop in their relationship. Ted (Scott Lowell) keeps being somewhat of a marginal character, although the last couple of episodes provide him with a chance to not only deliver a strong performance, but also take part in some highly unexpected and entertaining plot developments. Michelle Clunie and Thea Gill who play the lesbian couple Melanie and Lindsay provide shoulders to cry on, but still deal with their own personal struggles, especially when Melanie's old friend decides to drop by.
The second season of "Queer as Folk" is everything you could have expected it to be. The show has evolved from being a controversial soap-opera, and it now has a life of its own. The direction is always strong and inventive, performances are stellar (especially that of Randy Harrison) and the soundtrack is pitch-perfect (Queer as Folk: The Second Season). What more could you ask for?
