Top quality DVD video 5 out of 5 stars.

If you liked this TV series, it's great to watch the "reruns" without commercial interruption. The video quality is great on my Panasonic plasma HD TV.

TV Series defunded. 5 out of 5 stars.

I really enjoyed all four seasons of the Pretender. I fell it is a shame that in the last show we see a set up for season five, and then they didn't get a renewal for season five. Where is the integrity of the network? If you are going to cut funding to a program that has had a four season run, don't you think it would be nice to have a special to close all the loops? I think there should be a 2 hours special to close out the series, before all the actors are any older. I think this should be a requirement for all TV series programs.

Great Show! 5 out of 5 stars.

The Pretender is the best show I've come across in a long time! Michael T. Weiss is talented and drop-dead gorgeous!! The characters are endearing and Angelo and Broots are fast becoming favorites.

Second one on the second side of this DVD is damage 1 out of 5 stars.

Second one on the second side of this DVD is damage, because it was moving around in the case before I got it opened up.
Now I don't know how the series ends.
So ya I am not happy about it

Editorial Review:

The first season of Profiler gives fans and newcomers a fresh opportunity to view this popular TV series at its best. Premiering on September 21, 1996, the series lasted four seasons as part of NBC's Saturday-night "Thrillogy" lineup, attracting a predominantly female audience drawn to its lead character, FBI profiler and single mother Samantha "Sam" Waters, played by Ally Walker. As the pilot begins, Sam's living with her daughter (Caitlin Wachs) and roommate (a thankless role for Erica Gimpel), still traumatized by her encounter with Jack (a.k.a. "Jack of all Trades"), a psychotic genius who killed Sam's husband three years earlier. Sam's mentor and leader of the Atlanta-based Violent Crime Task Force, Bailey Malone (Robert Davi), convinces Sam to rejoin the Bureau, where her VCTF colleagues include former cop John (Julian McMahon), computer ace George (Peter Frechette), and forensics expert Grace (Roma Maffia). Taking a cue from The X-Files' "mythology," Profiler tracked Jack's killing spree for two seasons, challenging Sam in an extended subplot as the VCTF pursued weekly cases of murder and mystery, aided by Sam's uncanny ability to "profile" unidentified killers.

Profiler borrowed heavily from The Silence of the Lambs and The X-Files while cribbing its title sequence from Seven, but the series established its own dark identity through slick production values and gruesomely plausible plots. The miscasting of Walker reportedly troubled NBC executives despite her growing fan base, but Profiler earned respectable ratings, building its popularity on a compelling escalation of tension and terror. Walker's DVD commentary on the pilot episode repeats the official reason for her departure after two seasons (she'd grown weary of the show's humorless tone), while Davi's is refreshingly frank, citing on-set squabbles and network mismanagement as reasons for first-season hardship. Still, he's quite correct in stating that later, more successful shows (C.S.I., Without a Trace, and others) would not have existed without Profiler's stylishly trendsetting example. (Note: episode #4, "I'll Be Watching You," was omitted from this set due to prohibitively expensive music rights for the Police hit "Every Breath You Take," which featured prominently in that episode's plot.) --Jeff Shannon

Fans of Mysteries and Old Hollywood Stars Will Enjoy This Set 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

If you are as big a fan of mysteries and of old Hollywood stars as I am then this set is a must for you. You get Peter Ustinov, Jean Stapleton, Faye Dunaway, Bette Davis, Lesley Anne Down, Tony Randall, Tony Curtis, and my personal favorite--Helen Hayes--just to name a few! Some of my favorites are "Murder with Mirrors with Helen Hayes and Bette Davis, and "Dead Man's Folly" with Peter Ustinov and Jean Stapleton. Jean Stapleton is a riot in this one. She really steals the show!

But I must admit that the stars are probably the best part of these Warner Bros. productions. It's just a shame that with such great actors the producers didn't get better scripts and directors. The weakest of the lot is probably "Murder in Three Acts", with Tony Curtis. The dialogue is weak and the scenes very choppy and hard to follow. Some of these stories like "Sparkling Cyanide" have been messed with so much that there is very little resemblance to Christie's original story! But if you like mysteries and want to see some great old Hollywood stars (especially Helen Hayes) then you will enjoy this set.

Who slipped poison into the cocktail of kindly old Rev. Babbington?... Why is a mysterious brown-suited stranger trailing a young woman through exotic lands?...What is the secret behind the malevolent deeds at palatial Stonygates? Discover the answers and much more in this star-packed collection of murder most foul, mystery most fun. All eight movies are on DVD for the first time. And all are from novels by the mistress of mystery, Agatha Christie. It'd be a crime to miss them!

A roommate of ours has season 2. SO I was bored one day and watched alot of movie and said heck...I'll watch this. OMG was it a great choice. i am in the process of ordering the other 3 seasons and starting from the begining. But wow.....it gives me a CSI type fix with a very cool twist. I am upset that he was missing disk 3 of thew season 2 set. pissed me off actually! I love the fact jack found a jill and has made her at least look like sam. Best show i have seen in a long time. LOVE IT!!!!!

PROFILER Season 2 is a must -have DVD set! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is an excellent follow-up to the show's first season. Characters are well rounded, and some episodes even rival the quality of a an "X-Files" episode (and that's saying a lot). There are too many surprises to go into too much detail, but if you're a fan of this series, it is absolutely crucial that you own Season 2.

Great Show, Lousy Price! 5 out of 5 stars.

Season 2 is a MUST have for anyone who loves drama, suspense, and a bit of noir. Unfortunately, this price is so incredibly stupidly high that I will not purchase it off of Amazon until it is at least under $50, or will purchase it from another site/store when it is under that price. Amazon, lower the price!!! Even Star Trek: TNG doesn't cost this much per season!!!

Great Poirot 5 out of 5 stars.

This movie is great. My family loves to watch it all the time. It grabs your attention and never lets it go.

David Suchet is #1 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Out of all the movie/TV adaptions of Agatha Christie's stories, I think David Suchet does the most justice. It's as if he has been playing the role his whole life.

All three episodes in this dvd are wonderful, but this is coming from a die-hard fan (there isn't one thing that Agatha Christie writes that I don't love).

Summer Movies 5 out of 5 stars.

Agatha Christie Enthusiast 4 out of 5 stars.

DAVID SUCHET captures the personage of Poirot exactly as Christie characterized him. He is excellent. Though the series can deviate sometimes from the written stories, they are the next best thing to reading the books that you can get.

I highly recommend them. I have almost all of the series and I continually watch them repeatedly. They are a worthy investment.

Best Poirot : David Suchet 5 out of 5 stars.

Excellent British Mysteries Series:
David Suchet is the best Poirot ever, an extraordinary adaptation of Agatha Christie's mystery novels.

As seen on PBS, a BBC, A&E, & Granada production.

Want More! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

What a great concept! Profit is a dangerously wounded man who is exactly what we all want to be. How's that for a conflict?
Characters are rich, and some very bizarre, without any of them falling into the trap of being more or less than who they are for the convenience of the story.
In order to pull this off, the casting had to be perfect, which it was. I've since seen the man who played Jim Profit in "Heroes" and, while he is a talent, the comparison shows just how great an actor can be with challenging material. In "Profit" you're left with just knowing that no one else could have played the part.

I imaagine it didn't last because that first 2-hour pilot was the grabber, and it would have been hard to come in late. It was also one of those shows you actually had to pay attention to, which I'm sure reduced the viewers even further.
I never even heard of this show before someone recommended it to me, so it must have been one of those "brilliant but cancelled" series that never got a chance to find an audience. I recommend an audience find it, keeping in mind that it ends too soon and you'll be wanting more when it's over.

Editorial Review:

Jim Profit works for a multinational company, and isn't above using any means necessary to get ahead, and that includes bribery, blackmail, intimidation, extortion, and even murder. Now everyone at the company, including the president, Charles Gracen are oblivious to his dark side, as a matter of fact, Gracen thinks of him as a golden boy. But Joanne Meltzer, the company's security chief looks into his eyes, she sees something sinister. And when her boss, Jack Walters is looking into some irregularities at the company, he asks Joanne to look into and initially, the person she cornered said it was Profit who was behind it, but when Profit learned of this, he convinced this person to change the story she told Joanne. But Joanne knows that Profit is evil and so she tries to get the goods on him, at the same time, Profit tries to find a way to neutralize her and anyone else who might believe her.

a truly delightful season, and probably "Punky's" best 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The release of this classic children's series has undoubtedly delighted many "1980's kids" who remember watching the show. Just as sweet and engaging as it always used to be, "Punky Brewster" is great to introduce to a whole new generation of children (but, of course, those of us who are still "kids at heart" will probably enjoy it just as much, if not more!)

Season 1 focused mainly on the shocking impact that Punky's sudden appearance had in the life of Henry Warnimont, an originally grumpy old man who was used to living as a hermit in his own little apartment. Punky gradually decorated his life, but she herself was also going through insecurity and fear of abandonment.

While Season 1 was mostly about Henry and Punky seeking to create a whole new family dynamic for themselves, Season 2 zooms in on Punky, her friends and her 4th grade teacher. Henry is now a warm and devoted fatherly figure to this little girl, and it appears that the writers used this season to really take off with the storyline. Issues pertaining to CPR and drug use are presented with an innocent "Punky" touch, and the season ends with an incredible bang when Henry finally adopts Punky as his own. The 5-part episode "Changes" is beautifully done and perhaps the biggest success in the show's 4-year run. Here, you get to see how much this old man and little girl love each other and how difficult it was for them to finally get to that glorious end result of being adopted as father and daughter. I often wonder why they didn't save that for the series finale, where it may have fit in on a much more emotional level, but I guess there could have been a variety of reasons for that.

I have loved having Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and cannot wait for Season 3 to come out in the summer. It is, however, a whole different experience to watch this show as an adult. You may be surprised to find how cheesy and silly the storylines are, but as another reviewer here has said, it's important to remember that the series was written for kids. It was not geared to be a family show, but rather something for the young crowd. The jokes are a bit goofy and it is clearly a very youthful rendition of innocence in childhood. In any case, it has all the fun and cutesiness to attract young viewers and is innocent and sweet enough to reel in older crowds, as well.

Soleil Moon Frye did a terrific job with this series--for a little kid, she sure had a lot of talent and was capable of transferring a lot of childlike spirit to the screen. She and George Gaynes worked very well alongside one another, and that little Cherie Johnson was always a wonderful asset to the show. Sweet, funny and irresistably charming, she had the most adorable presence. Then, of course, there was Susie Garrett, who was very funny and also brought some great humor to the episodes through her interactions with Gaynes.

Good acting, a very sweet plot, and genuinely clean 30-minute fun for everyone. What more can you ask for??

Editorial Review:

Supersleuth Hercule Poirot bets his beloved mustache that he can solve a murder more quickly than a truculent French detective in this excellent collection of four movies based on Agatha Christie mysteries. The bet takes place in Murder on the Links; a body found on a golf course points to a crime committed years before--but the real question is, has Poirot's good friend Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) found true love? Similarly, though the twisty plot of Hickory Dickory Dock revolves around diamond smuggling and a death in a student hostel, for many fans it's the story in which Poirot's ever-precise secretary Miss Lemon (Pauline Moran, nowhere near as ugly as Christie's description of the character) makes a rare mistake. In Dumb Witness, a fox terrier gives Poirot the final insight to catch the killer of a wealthy woman, cutting through the seance-crazed antics of a pair of eccentric old sisters. But perhaps the best of the quartet is Hercule Poirot's Christmas, featuring a sexy Spanish spitfire, a vengeful marked woman, and one of the most unsavory victims in all of Christie's work. Through it all, fastidious and scrupulously observant, Poirot sifts through the slippery details and comes to his unerring conclusion. As the Belgian detective, David Suchet has taken a character who could easily be a cartoon or a cardboard cutout and made him three-dimensional and sympathetic. One starts to wonder, what is his home life like? Does he grow lonely? Such musings are the mark of a truly vivid performance; Suchet never fails to drive each movie forward, step by irrevocable step. (The extras are meager; filmographies, sketchy biographies, and odd bits of trivia.) --Bret Fetzer
