teenage renewal 5 out of 5 stars.

I was a teenager when this show came out and had a crush on David Cassidy and still enjoy watching the TV shows over and over again. I enjoy the music as it was simple, easy to understand.

A New Generation For Pee Wee 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I myself never watched Pee Wee Herman although my daughter did as his popularity soared back in the 80's??
Correct the timing if I'm wrong.
I had been looking for a movie to rent one evening while spending the time with our grandson who is 41/2. It really was a fluke that Pee Wee's Big Adventure fell into my hands and I said "why not". I knew nothing of him or what the DVD would be like but luckily I took a chance. My grandson loved it! I watched it with him and I was amazed at how clever and creative Pee Wee was. Since then I have purchased Pee Wee's old TV shows which have delighted my grandson and he tells everyone that he meets at the park all about Pee Wee Herman. The kids don't know who he is talking about but the parents all remember him fondly. All I can say is that he is a very funny guy with a great imagination!

Perfect! 5 out of 5 stars.

Full length episodes, all original Curt Massey music. 5 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I almost didn't purchase this set due to the negative comments before the release, but really wanted the 2nd half of the first season that wasn't on the other DVD set. After watching the first 8 episodes, I thought I'd let other skeptics know that these episodes are full length with Curt Massey's original music score. Also, in the episodes I've seen so far, there are no
product placements on the end credits. Don't worry, there isn't a black box
covering up that bar of soap; it's just not there. If you select special features on the main menu, you can select play all episodes with a brief intro by Linda Kaye Henning (Betty Jo) or Pat Woodell (Bobby Jo) or both of
them in some cases. Now let's not keep the Petticoat Junction fans waiting, please release the rest of the seasons in a timely manner!

Classic 1960s TV 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

"Petticoat Junction" was commissioned by CBS-TV in 1963, following the success of "The Beverly Hillbillies" in the previous year. Producer Paul Henning reproduced the formula of his hit, except instead of having hicks come to the big city and lock horns with smarmy city-slickers, in "Petticoat" the city-slickers came out to the country and got charmed or bamboozled by the locals. The comedy wasn't as broad as on "Hillbillies," and the show was greatly enhanced by an ensemble cast that included great character actors such as Edgar Buchanan, Frank Cady, Charles Lane and Roy Roberts. (Old-school country music fans might also appreciate the presence of cowboy singer Smiley Burnett in the role of train engineer Charley Pratt...) "Petticoat Junction," which ran seven seasons and lasted for years in syndication during the next decade, isn't what you'd call great art, but it was a fun, well-produced show, and you might be surprised by how well it stands up, several decades later. This first collection, with five discs worth of vintage episodes, will give you a glimpse of what television comedy was like, way back in the Kennedy era. It was a simpler time, and looking back at it can be a fine tonic. (Joe Sixpack, Slipcue film reviews)

I love it, but Ramond Burr is the whole show in this first season 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I'm old enough to have watched the last couple of seasons of Perry Mason when they were first on, but not old enough to have seen the first season. Many of these episodes were not familiar from my having watched episodes in the syndication package over the years, which made it more interesting to watch them now. Compared with later seasons, Perry seems to take things a bit more into his own hands in these episodes. He's as much a private detective as a defense attorney. Burr was a superb actor and this was the part of a lifetime for him. In fact, given how strained many of the plots are and how sudden and implausible the finales are, without Burr to put it over, I doubt this show would have lasted more than one season. With respect to implausibility, for instance, in the episode on which Barbara Eden guest stars, what was the killer's motive? Mason ends up establishing opportunity and catches the killer in a contradiction on the witness stand, but, unless I missed something, neglects to establish a motive.

One other fun thing: Count how many episodes where Mason is working at night. Not only is he often in the office at midnight or later, but so are Lt. Tragg and Hamilton Burger! Clients think nothing of calling him up at all hours asking to meet him and he invariably obliges. The script writers must have been real night owls to believe it would be plausible to show people working those hours.

A final note: These DVDs contain absolutely no extras. No commentaries, no "Making of" feature, nada. It's a shame after all these years they couldn't have come up with something.

Editorial Review:

Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) is an attorney who specializes in defending seemingly indefensible cases. With the aid of his secretary Della Street and investigator Paul Drake, he often finds that by digging deeply into the facts, startling facts can be revealed. Often relying on his outstanding courtroom skills, he often tricks or traps people into unwittingly admitting their guilt. The series began in 1957, running until 1974, and later revived in a series of TV movies. In over 270 episodes, Perry never lost a case!

Fourth and Final Season of The Partridge Family 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The Partridge Family finally came to an end in 1974, in their fourth and last season. The writers knew the show was coming to an end, as they introduced child actor Ricky Segall in the first episode of this fourth season. The Brady Bunch had the exact same ending, when their writers ran out of things to build a show around, they added a child actor to the show, cousin Oliver. Of course adding these cute little children did not save either of the shows, but it did keep the shows going for one more season. ABC television network also moved The Partridge Family to Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. opposite CBS' All In The Family. All In The Family was a show that no one wanted to be up against, as it was always in the number one ratings, so this move just added to this fourth season definitely being the final of The Partridge Family.
The Partridge Family was based loosely on The Cowsills, a real life pop music family in the late 60's. The Cowsill's children were actively approached by the producers of The Partridge Family to be in the show, but the Cowsill children rejected the offer when their real life mother Barbara would not be included in the cast. The casting for The Partridge Family was then put together in the same style The Monkees were, "created" by the studio. Although the studio wanted professional singers and musicians used for The Partridge Family's songs, David Cassidy proved to the studio heads that he and his step-mother Shirley Jones really could sing the pop tunes. The studio did allow them to do their own singing, and the songs always made it to the pop charts, many in the top ten, propelling David Cassidy to being an instant pop idol. In this last and fourth season the following were The Partridge Family regulars:
Shirley Partridge (mother)......Shirley Jones
Keith Partridge (son)......David Cassidy (Shirley's real life step-son)
Laurie Partridge (daughter)......Susan Dey
Danny Partridge (son)......Danny Bonaduce
Chris Partridge (son)......Brian Forster
Tracey Partridge (daughter)......Suzanne Crough
Reuben Kincaid (manager and family friend)......Dave Madden
Ricky Stevens (4 year old next door neighbor)......Ricky Segall
The Fourth Season Shows:
75. Hate Thy Neighbor (Introduces Ricky Segall) 9/15/1973
76. None But The Lonely 9/22/1973
77. Beethoven, Brahms and Partridge 9/29/1973

Editorial Review:

More musical adventures with TV's favorite rock 'n roll family! The family tries (unsuccessfully) to conserve energy. Laurie poses as Keith's date to make other girls jealous, but the plan backfires. Danny wants to impress a girl by telling her rabbi father that the Partridges are Jewish - and the whole family is invited to dinner. Shirley tries to hire a maid, but it's all in the family when her mother shows up to apply.

Tony Award-nominee David Suchet is Hercule Poirot - dressed to the nines, impeccably mannered and infuriatingly arch, he is a detective like no other. Adapted from Agatha Christie's celebrated mysteries, each film features beautiful settings and an impeccable cast.

Now, for the first time, twelve of Suchet's feature-length Poirot mysteries are available together in this collector's set. Produced by Brian Eastman (Traffik, Jeeves & Wooster), these exquisitely crafted tales of death and deception were filmed on location around the world, and features enough murder and mystery to test the mettle of our inimitably beloved Belgian sleuth.

AGATHA CHRISTIE S POIROT: THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION contains all twelve A&E feature-length Poirot films:
THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD: Poirot's retirement in a quiet country village ends abruptly with the death of his disagreeable neighbor.
LORD EDGWARE DIES: Intervening in a sticky marital situation, Poirot suddenly finds himself in the midst of murder.
MURDER IN MESOPOTAMIA: Poirot visits an ancient site in Iraq just before the head archeologist's unpopular wife is killed.
EVIL UNDER THE SUN: Death intrudes on Poirot's island holiday, and only he can determine who is responsible.
DEATH ON THE NILE: A pleasure cruise down the Nile turns deadly when a murder is discovered on board. Thank goodness Poirot is along for the ride.
SAD CYPRESS: The solution to a double-murder case appears to be cut and dry, but Poirot's impeccable instincts eventually lead him to the real truth.
THE HOLLOW: A weekend retreat where all the guests appear to despise one another finds Poirot hard at work doing what he does best.
FIVE LITTLE PIGS: Poirot agrees to help a young woman prove her mother's innocence, 14 years after being sent to the gallows.
THE MYSTERY OF THE BLUE TRAIN: When the daughter of an oil magnate is found dead on the famous Blue Train to the French Riviera, Poirot must investigate the past to reveal the killer.
TAKEN AT THE FLOOD: Mystery surrounds a young woman after her new husband is killed in the London Blitz, and the mystery deepens when a man who may be her first husband shows up dead.
AFTER THE FUNERAL: Following the murder of a wealthy patriarch, Poirot is called upon to begin an investigation. The case takes a wild twist however, when his prime suspect turns up dead.
CARDS ON THE TABLE: When a woman is found dead at a card game, four investigators--including Poirot himself set out to discover which guest is the killer.

More Creativity in Season 2 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This show really captured my attention the first time I caught it on TV; so much so that I bought all of the seasons that were available (including Project Runway - The Complete First Season and Project Runway - The Complete Third Season). Season 2 is basically the same format as its predecessor. Heidi Klum & Tim Gunn are back on board as hostess and advisor, respectively. The show begins with 16 designer hopefuls and narrows down to the final 3 who get to execute a complete line of designs for NYC Fashion Week. As before, what I enjoyed the most was the creativity. This season, watch the designers create a dress manufactured completely out of plants, lingerie for Heidi, an evening gown for model superstar Iman (to be worn on the red carpet at an event), an outfit for My Scene Barbie, and an outfit for Olympic skating silver medalist Sasha Cohen. There are other challenges as well through the season.

It is extremely interesting to hear what the judges have to say about each designer and their creations. Michael Kors & Nina Garcia (Elle Magazine) are back again giving their sometimes cutting but accurate critiques. This season, the designers are much more vocal and sometimes talk back with disrespect to the judges (would you dare to question or sass back at Diane von Furstenberg?!?). The designers are not quite as loveable as the first season, but there are still many "characters" which are interesting to watch, most notably Santino Rice, the insensitive loudmouth and sometime "villain" of season 2. Debra Messing of "Will & Grace" joins the judges for the NYC Fashion Week critique of the Final 3.

Extras on the 4 DVD set include: outtakes & bloopers (do we really need to see André's crying scene unedited or Santino verbally sparring with Nina?), WEAR Are They Now (for the Final 3 contestants only), Cast Audition Tapes, Tim Gunn's Blog (which is an interesting episode-by-episode blog of Gunn's thoughts), and an Exclusive Season 3 Casting Call shot at LA's Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. Naturally, this particular featurette focuses on the freakier contestants!

Overall, another great set that will test your creativity and increase your fashion knowledge!

SEASON 3 IS THE MOST ENTERATINING! THE BEST! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I bought all three seasons and Season 3 is the best for me. I love to see it over and over. Why? Because of . . .
Uli's smooth flowing prints
Laura's sophisticated and finely made dresses
Stacey's cool professional composure
Malan's laugh
The dog, rip your apartment, make gown for Miss USA to wear for Miss
Universe. These challenges are so fun to watch
Kayne's sense of humor and he talks like a powerful machine gun
Robert's funny punch lines like, "I believe in recycling even with
boyfriends."
Robert and Kayne's screeching
Contestants constantly fighting verbally with each other as early as the second episode. Some were even back-stabbing one another even during the initial presentation.
No over-acting crying dramas just to attract attention and sympathy like Andre from PR2 and that very annoying and horrible designer Ricky of PR4.
Amanda, the model who wouldn't shut her big mouth
Marilinda and Amanda - the fainting mannequins
And last but not the least . . . BRADLEY BAUMKIRCHNER! His dance moves, his humor, his punchlines, "I'm a squid with no ocean. I'm a fish out of water. When is the pants gonna be done? (4X repeatedly), Laugh now Bradley! You'll be thrown into the pit! I am so happy I almost cried! I made a toy and they kicked me out . . .POP!" Plus the sounds he makes (chicken, being electrocuted) and his different expressions (strangling himself) . . . a stand-up comedian with a great heart! Plus he's a talented but humble designer who wore a fantastic dress, getting a high score in just one hour!!! Go, Bradley, go! Audition for the next seasons! You have a lot of support from your fans!

Buy Season 3 now from Amazon! You will never regret it!
