Editorial Review:

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) a former Marine gunnery sergeant whose skills as an investigator are unmatched formerly led this troupe of colorful personalities. Gibbs a man of few words only needs a look to explain it all. The team includes NCIS Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) an ex-homicide detective who may come off as the world's oldest frat boy but whose instincts in the field are unparalleled; forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) a talented scientist whose dark wit matches her Goth style and eclectic tastes NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) an MIT graduate whose brilliance with computers far overshadows his insecurities in the field and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) a former Moussad agent who shares a bond with Gibbs over the death of his arch nemesis Ari the terrorist who killed former NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd. Assisting the team is medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum) who knows it all because he's seen it all and he's not afraid to let you know. Rounding out the team is NCIS director Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly) who has a romantic history with Gibbs. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines these special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.System Requirements:Running Time: 835 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre: TELEVISION/SERIES & SEQUELS UPC: 097361375540 Manufacturer No: 137554

The best season of "Night Gallery" also gets exceptional bonus features and has all the original music 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

"Night Gallery" would often be dismissed by critics because it was the younger brother of "The Twilight Zone". That was unfair. Each series had its own unique flavor and sensibility. "Night Gallery" benefited from both Rod Serling (who hosted but didn't want to produce any longer due to how overwhelmed he was on "The Twilight Zone")and Jack Laird (who did produce the series). As Guillermo Del Toro ("Pan's Labrynith", "Hellboy") points out in one of his commentary tracks the unique blend of their tastes made "Night Gallery" a unique fantasy/horror show on TV. There's an odd perception that Serling didn't write many of the epsiodes as well. That's not ture. He wrote well over a third of them and wrote the introductory monologue for every single episode.

You'll note that "The Sixth Sense" isn't included here as part of the package and that's because that series was packaged with "Night Gallery" for syndication ONLY to flesh out the amount of episodes and make the series something that could be sold for syndication. Serling wrote new introductory pieces for these segments.

Image quality is extremely good although you must keep in mind this is a 30 plus year old show. There wer some minor compression artifacts but on the whole the series makes a smooth and nice transition to DVD. Colors are strong throughout and the mono soundtrack sounds extremely good with the music sounding quite nice as well (and since music WAS an important part of some episodes, this is important as well particularly on key episodes like "The Caterpillar" with Eddie Sauter's creepy atonal, percussive music score).

Universal deserves kudos for putting together this deluxe package for "Night Gallery" as do Scott Skelton and Jim Benson (co-authors of the definitive book on the series and Benson also hosts the website TV Time Machine--well worth checking out for his insightful interviews)for putting together such a comprehensive package. We get an excellent 30 minute documentary on the series featuring directors such as Jeannot Swarc (Serling's favorite director on the show), John Badham and others discussing the genesis and impact of the series, what Serling and Laird brought to the series as well as what it was like to work on the show. We also get an excellent featurette on Tom Wright's paintings for the show with Wright discussing his approach (he always tried to service the story but focused on the "feel" of the script itself). We also get an interactive gallery of about 33 surviving paintings from the show with Wright discussing the inspiration for each. Rounding out the extras are the original season one and season two promo reels. It should also be noted that the packaging states that "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and "Witches Feast" aren't included but"Satisfaction Guaranteed" was found in time to be included in this set (the packaging couldn't be revised in time to get this out). "Witches Feast" will be included in a third season set should this sell well because it was too late to be included here.

The six commentary tracks with three by Skelton and Benson discussing episodes 4 ("A Fear of Spiders", "Junior", Marmalade Wine", "The Academy"), 12 ("Cool Air"- where the duo point out a modern Universal services truck very clearly visible in the back window of a car in the episode "Cool Air" which is set in 1923-"Camera Obscura", "Quoth the Raven"), 16 ("Lindemann's Catch", "The Late Mr. Peddington", "A Feast of Blood")and director Del Toro on episodes 5 ("The Phantom Farmhouse", "Silent Snow, Secret Snow")13 ("The Messiah of Mott Street", "The Painted Mirror")and Del Toro's favorite episode--and mine--22 with "The Caterpillar" (and "Little Girl Lost" as the "B" episode as Del Toro refers to it).

Fans will want to snatch this up immediately and all I can say is that I am looking forward to season three in hope that Universal will spent as much time and effort on the extras as they did here on this excellent set. I hope to see "Witches Feast" as a bonus episode on the third season set and--for those fans who grew up watching this in syndication--perhaps Universal COULD include one or two episodes of "The Sixth Sense" (the two best episodes perhaps)along with Serling's introductions as part of that set. Highly recommended.

Wonderful characters. I would not watch all in the same two week period or you will lose the uniquness of each episode.

Good, but sad 5 out of 5 stars.

We've watched all the numb3rs. These are typical, but with a touch of sadness. As usual, the math is slipped in with little explanation. I always wished there was a little more math and a little less gun work, but no, the emphasis is on the fighting. Luckily, the personal lives of the characters continues to be important, as that is what has lifted this above the rest of the CSI wannabes. It'll be missed, but hopefully, someone will make something new to fill the gap.

Crazyred 5 out of 5 stars.

This TV series is GREAT, makes you think, digest info and try to come up with conclusions. Never thought how much Numbers are in every part of everyday life. This show's math is way over my head but very interesting as it is explained. The actors n actress are a very good fit for the series, hope this show stays on as long as JAG, Stargate, Atlantis, Saving Grace too name a few. So far have all 4 seasons on DVD, waiting for 5th won to come out.........Yahoo

Nip/Tuck - Season Five (The Saga Continues) 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

First, let me say that in all honesty, I honestly thought that this season of "Nip/Tuck" was going to fail, simply because Seasons 3 & 4 were huge disappointments. I was shocked at the new level that the writers/producers of this show has taken it to and I enjoyed every bit of it.

The doctors and their families, friends and colleagues all move to California, where they not only continue their practices, but they discover a large multiple of ups and downs. I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen this season, but I'll just add that this season covers a "new" sexual phenomenon in white suburbia (which is called "Cuckoldry"), reality TV, female stalkers, Julia exploring her sexuality, characters Matt & Julia hitting rock bottom, Kimber going back into her old ways by becoming a porn starlet and an 18-year-old temptress named "Eden" causing friction in Sean and Julia's life. In this season, things go downhill for just about everyone and just when you think things are going well for the characters in this story, things get uglier and uglier! In this season, there are special guest appearances by porn-star Lexington Steele, Boris Kodjoe, "New York" (from the "Flavor of Love" show), Tia Carrere, Rosie O'Donnell, etc...

While Season Two was my most personal favorite season for "Nip/Tuck", this season is equivalent to that particular season, because Season Five was so damn entertaining, just like Season Two and I loved it! I just hope that Season Six (the final season, maybe?) will be as great as this one.

The second season of NCIS ends badly for fans of the first season (don't worry, I won't spoil it) but paves the way for the drama to grow even deeper and more thought out in subsequent seasons.

Trust me, if you buy these DVDs, you won't be leaving your TV set anytime soon!

One of the greatest tv shows of all time 5 out of 5 stars.

With all of the mindless reality shows that exist on tv today, it is so great to have a truly great show like NCIS still on the air. The cast is incredible, with memorable character portrayals by everyone on this show. Best of all, it has great rewatchability, especially season 1. It is difficult not to absolutely adore every character on this show!!!

NCIS Naval Criminal Investigative Service - The Complete Third Season

Great show, there is so much more you pick up watching it this way.

NCIS great 5 out of 5 stars.

The third season NCIS arrived right away, in excellent condition, and it has been very entertaining. We especially like the added features (visiting with the cast, etc.) in addition to the series itself.

NCIS - Third Season ( it rocks) 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

NCIS Naval Criminal Investigative Service - The Complete Third Season I ordered this set of tv DVDs on July 15. It came to me in quickness like I have never seen. I have watched the set so often I have them memorized. The quality of the discs are great, the story lines have been written and performed superbly and the team works together like none other on television. Having watched the previous seasons I have discovered that by season three each actor and actress has become part of a family and they work smoothly together to get the job done. There is trust, humor, dependency, pain in loss of a team member, and like any family, there can be competetion with touches of jealousy, but also pride in other team members' successes. I highly recommend NCIS season three (and all other seasons as well)the drama will keep you on the edge of your seat, the humor will uplift you; death of a team member and the others' reactions will make you cry; injury to another team member will keep you wondering what will become of him. Finally I especially like the special feature - the round table -- where the actors and actresses sit around the dinner table answering fans' questions and displaying the compatabliliy of this special family of friends and co-workers.

Superb crime scene show 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My wife has become incurably hooked on this show and the eclectic cast of characters. It is entertaining to watch as a result of clever writing and convincingly portrayed characters. The plots are extremely varied even though they all boil down to the same crime scene investigation theme. There are both ongoing story lines as well as satisfactory resolution of crimes in each episode. The person who dreamed up the character of Abbey deserves a gold star and the role is convincingly as well as entertainingly played.

NCIS Season 4 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the best tv series I have watched in a long time. I was never a "Jag" fan so I missed the first three seasons. The cast gels so well together, they look like they enjoy working and being together. The series is well written and after being hooked on this 4th season, bought the first three seasons. Great entertainment, love the smart remarks and jabs.

Wow, what happened? 2 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

For some reason, I never watched this show on television, this summer I've gotten the box sets and played catch up

Season 1 and 2 were great, 3 was tedious, but I still had hope for the 4th.

What in the world happened? The storylines in this season were so weak, you could drive a Mack truck through the holes!! I found myself wishing episodes would be over and looking at the clock, something I never did before.

I haven't seen season 5, here's hoping it can improve

Great! 5 out of 5 stars.

I love "Nip/Tuck"! I've already seen season 4--I bought this so I could watch the episodes with my boyfriend. The DVD set came sooner than expected, which was a nice surprise.

What About The Music 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I really think the music always makes the scene but what bothers me is that they have great music that I hear for the first time and they never put the artist or song in the credits. Like in the season finale I heard at least 3 songs I liked but dont know who the artist is. Where can I get that information?

Caveat: There is NO official announcement from WB, thus the deal is not sealed; caution is advised. However, I've found "tvshowsondvd" to be a very reliable source, and feel optimistic you'll be able to pre-order Season 2 on Amazon within a few months. Hang in there gang ...
