More changes for the characters 5 out of 5 stars.

Things keep changing for the characters, which is a good thing for any tv series; it helps the show to evolve. The captain's marriage crumbles, Julie tries modeling, Randy speaks up for himself, and Monk has several breakthroughs with the help of Dr. Kroger, although the main character's tragic core remains, and is central to the show.

I still have to say that I miss Bitty Schram tremendously; Howard just doesn't quite fill the void, although she does her best.
I also wish we could see Monk's troubled brother more frequently.

Editorial Review:

Return to the scene of the crime with Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub in all 16 Season Four episodes of the quirky and amusing series Monk. Private detective Adrian Monk has brains, instincts, a photographic memory and more than a few Obsessive Compulsive Disorder’s. These traits, his ever-present handy wipes and his devoted assistant, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard), help him as he solves cases involving amnesia, betrayal, first-loves, true loves, and of course, murder. Along with Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and Lieutenant Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), Monk is on the case and more germ-phobic than ever in this fresh and funny 4-disc set.

Editorial Review:

TV’s most brilliant detective is back, and he’s ready to battle any crime… as long as it doesn’t involve germs, heights or other people! Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub returns to DVD in all 16 third season episodes of the funny, fresh and quirky series, Monk. Rejoin Adrian Monk, the defective detective, who must overcome his obsessive-compulsive disorder and investigate the death of his wife, Trudy. Still hoping to be reinstated in the San Francisco Police Department, Monk continues to use his sharp intelligence, photographic memory and ever-present hand wipes to solve even the dirtiest cases. At his side are Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine), Lieutenant Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram) and newcomer Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard), and together they take on some daunting opponents, including the Mafia, the FBI and a possibly murderous chimpanzee. Monk’s back on the case and better than ever in this hilarious third season, which includes five obsessive brand-new featurettes!

Mystery Science Theater 3000 5 out of 5 stars.

Just the way we remember the series when it was still in production.
Funny, witty, classic commentary by the "bots".

The Worst! But That's Good! 5 out of 5 stars.

Two classic stinker movies made watchable by Joel, Mike, Tom, and Crow. "Manos" is truly awful with the whole movie being re-dubbed (I encourage you to read IMDB.com's Trivia section on this movie). "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" is only a few steps lower on the bad movie scale because it had a higher production value. So just sit back and watch the crew slice these movies up. The "Poopie" blooper section also has some great outtakes.

So much fun! 5 out of 5 stars.

I was a die-hard fan of this show back in the day. I ordered this to introduce my 11-year old son to the series. He is now a fan too. Sooo funny!!

wow 5 out of 5 stars.

Have to agree with most reviewers that 'Santa Claus' is worth the price of the box. 'Manos' is indeed awful, so badly photographed, badly paced, and just plain off, it creates a black hole of badness from which little humor can escape - though the MST crew give it a credible try, and do produce some laugh-out-loud moments. The director of 'Manos' must have been a silent movie buff, as there are many scenes and settings evocative of 1920s films (and the sound is about as good). 'Santa Claus' on the other hand is campy-bad, and the boys make the most of it. Recommended.

Editorial Review:

Join Joel and his "robot friends" as they're forced to endure two of the worst movies ever made. To maintain their sanity, they hilariously skewer the films' performaces, special effects and dialogue.

5 stars? Are you kidding? 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Okay, remember when we were in school (or still are?) and you'd "half-azz" a paper, and BS your way through it, and finally turn it in. Remember what would would happen? You'd get a "lousy grade" maybe a C, if you were lucky. Didn't matter how well certain parts were, which may have been stupendous!

Well, that's how I felt watching this season. Sure it was the best, and "smashing" in many parts. Yes, the storylines were brilliant! But, it had only around 16 episodes! Come on! And at least 4 of them started off with joke premises of the show being delayed for weeks and weeks. I think around two, near the end, actually had footage from prior shows, adding up to five minutes per episode (some even being repeat footage, from the "repeat footage" of the prior show!) Ridiculous!!!

Sorry, I demand my money's worth! I won't give 5 stars to shoddy, incomplete seasons! Shame on those who will give lousy star ratings to DVD sets like WKRP in Cincinattie for the changed music, but then let this one slide under the radar! This was a shoddy season, and was incomplete! Deserves less than a 5 star perfect rating, and you know it!!!

MC White said: Excellent in many parts, but incomplete overall!

as good as ever..... 5 out of 5 stars.

Is it possible that "my name is earl" gets better & better...yes it is...the characters are hillarious & the script & storylines very entertaining...if you like "it's always sunny in philidelphia" you will like this...it is tamer though!

In perfect Jason Lee fashion!! 3 out of 5 stars.

The third series is great. It ventures deeper in to the lives of the cast and gives some rousing humor. Great gift for Earl lovers everywhere.

Not really good 2 out of 5 stars.

While the first two seasons were very successful, the third season is awful. THe idea of changing the format slightly is understandable and the creators were probably aftaid of getting in a rut. The problem is that the show was really very good. Until, at first Earls goes to prison, during which time he stops crossing things off his list and then he goes into a coma and it gets worse, a lot worse. Also, while previously the storylines were funny now the want to shock also slightly and the whole concept does not work anymore really.

The three-disc set features all 26 episodes of the classic 1980s sitcom parody, starring the less than loveable and most unforgettable Bundys - Ed O’Neill (TV’s John from Cincinnati), Katey Sagal (TV’s 8 Simple Rules), Christina Applegate (TV’s Samantha Who?), David Faustino (National Lampoon’s Pucked), Amanda Bearse (Give or Take an Inch), and Ted McGinley (TV’s Hope & Faith), along with guest stars Danny Bonaduce (TV’s The Partridge Family), Gary Coleman (TV’s Diff’rent Strokes) and Dom DeLuise (Blazing Saddles).

Highlights of this season include Peggy switching seats with Al at a basketball game and ending up being chosen for the $10,000 free throw contest, while Kelly and Bud buy a car to share and then are forced to double date. Everyone thinks Bud has flipped out when they overhear him speaking with his "cool" alter-ego, and in a hospital mix-up, Al is accidentally circumcised after he’s injured playing baseball. Finally, Al could get a brand new car as his old Dodge nears 999,999 miles, but it remains to be seen if he can hold out.

What evil lurks beyond the well-trimmed hedges of Midsomer…

The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, modern master of the English village mystery, the series stars John Nettles (Bergerac) as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby with Jason Hughes (This Life) as his earnest, efficient protégé, Detective Constable Ben Jones. Guest stars include George Baker, Elizabeth Spriggs, Simon Callow, Joss Ackland, Siân Phillips, Dermot Crowley, and Julia McKenzie.

THE MYSTERIES
The House in the Woods
-- According to local legend, Winyard is haunted—and it lives up to its reputation when a young couple dies on the property in a grisly fashion.
Dead Letters -- As Midsomer Barton celebrates Oak Apple Week, the mother of a former festival queen drowns herself. But is it really suicide?
Vixen’s Run -- At a family gathering, thrice-married baronet Freddy Butler keels over dead, leaving an estate worth killing for.
Down Among the Dead Men -- The shotgun slaying of accountant Martin Barrett leads Barnaby and Jones on a trail of blackmail.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE Fascinating Facts, The Killings at Badger’s Drift connection, Caroline Graham biography, production notes, and cast filmographies.

Oh. My. Gawd! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The first season of Magnum has so many treasures, even how on my television how old and grainy the picture looks during early eps/openings, like when the plane is flying in in the first episode. Brings back alot of memories really.

My favorite parts of the eps (besides the pairs of "Stews" that seem to be in alot of the early eps staying at the estate), is the relationship between Higgins and Magnum. There's in early eps how a thug refers to Higgins as "Braduh" to which Higgins' reply is "I'm not your brother" or something along those lines, so you get a glimpse of Hawaiian lingo back in the day. Also T.C. and Rick getting dragged into each case, Rick is more of a in the know type person who can track down leads, but T.C. is always lamenting being involved in Magnum's crazy cases. Then there is Magnum's ever expanding tab at Rick's place too.

I get involved with the early history of the show, how the plates changed from ep 1 to ep 2 on the Ferrari, and when Magnum first starting wearing the Detroit Tigers cap. Robin Masters private phone number is in there, along with the number to the bedroom at the guest house as you watch them push the numbers (I just geek out and pause and play it over to write it down). There's also Rick's real name which I thought might be difficult to catch, but early on they do mention it 3 or 4 times, so it's not that difficult to obtain.

So many great eps in season one, getting to know the "lads" in Higgins' Doberman's Zeus and Apollo, and all of Higgins (loved the little girls calling him "Huggins" throughout one Christmas ep btw), all of his nuances and seeing him laugh out loud as well as scowl is just priceless really.

Great introduction to the series which began in December 1980, nice scenery, and you get to see the seedy nightlife of downtown along with the beaches and pretty girls of course. Alot of humour and suspense, nice scenery adds up to an entertaining series throughout, and season one is a great place to start to see how it all began.
