Not fantastic like the first season, but still very good 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The second season of the wildly successful "Law & Order" franchise is much different than the first. Due to sponsors pulling out due to the program's content during the first season, the show severely toned down the dialogue and storylines for the second season. Also, George Dzundza quit after the first season. His character Max Greevey is killed by a hitman in the first episode (an uncredited actor played Greevey, the actor's face is never shown). Paul Sorvino would replace Dzundza and while the chemistry between him and Chris Noth is fine, it's not as good as Noth and Dzundza's. Plus to me, Sorvino doesn't really look like a cop. The rest of the cast returns for the second season. The L&O franchise's notorious "double dipping" starts this season as William H. Macy is back playing a different character than he did in Season One. All in all, while this season isn't the home run that the first season was, it's still very good and a worthwhile add to your DVD library.

Editorial Review:

Law & Order, the groundbreaking, Emmy Award winning drama series explodes onto DVD - with all 22 gripping, ripped-from-the-headlines episodes of its second year contained in this must-have DVD collection. Paul Sorvino, Michael Moriarty, Chris Noth, Richard Brooks, Dann Florek and Steven Hill are the relentless investigators and prosecutors who tackle the intriguing criminal cases that come before them; guest stars appearing in this compelling second season include Jerry Orbach (before he became a series regular!), Maura Tierney (TV's "ER"), Allison Janney (TV's "The West Wing"), William H. Macy ("Seabiscuit," TV's "ER"), Kelli Williams (TV's "The Practice"), and Nancy Marchand (TV's "The Sopranos"). Law & Order: The Second Year will keep you enthralled with its celebrated ensemble cast and "absorbing, sharply-written episodes" (TV Guide).

Great show - but where's the rest? 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' is one great cop show. With a detective like Goren to surprise us every week with his skills is something to behold. Which, of course, in the real world means this series has incredible writers. Dick Wolf's 'Law & Order' franchise includes some great series - the original 'Law & Order', 'Law & Order SVU', but Criminal Intent is my favorite as I like like good old-fashioned detective, cop shows. It's rarely been done better.

However, unfortunately, this is a NBC-Universal project which means it's a Universal DVD property. For those that don't know - they are NOTORIOUS for beginning series on DVD and after a season or two, dropping them cold. No release for this series in going on two years now, it looks like another Universal casualty. Add that to classics like Dragnet (one season and out), Adam-12 (one season and out), Emergency (one and out); and even classic comedy series that deserved the best treatment: Leave It To Beaver - two seasons and no more. Universal does this time and time again and it's getting where I don't trust Universal when they begin a series release on DVD. Season Four for 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent', anyone???

THE most immature brats ... :-( 1 out of 5 stars.
7 of 10 people found this review helpful.

What a group of idiots. I've never seen a more ignorant, immature bunch of brats in my life. All they do is vacation because heaven forbid they go get real jobs. Then they winge to each other about the same stuff day after day after day after day ... They rehash the same boy issues over and over and for a change of pace, the guys are more mature than the idiot girls. When Kristin and Stephen have their talk about her seeing another guy, there is no dialogue because they are both too stupid to think of something to say, and then what happens? She drives off in her car on the phone (very safe driving) and mouths off about him to her friend and every other word is 'like'. If they say 'like' one more time, I might scream. And who the heck pays for their vacations etc? Their parents who if had been present in their lives more, might have raised better kids. These kids might be rich, but their lives are boring because all they do is hang out with the same people (even those they hate) at the same places all the boring time. Why don't they read a newspaper or do something else intelligent to broaden their narrow minds and bring more varied conversations to this show.
Don't waste your money on this rubbish. The only 'intelligent' one in the bunch (and certainly the nicest) is Lauren and her show "The Hills" is a zillion times better. Like totally.

Editorial Review:

It’s one of the wealthiest, most beautiful communities in the world and MTV has unlimited access to the tight-knit power clique of eight rich, beautiful teenagers that live there. Their lives intertwine in ways you won’t believe, until you drop in for a visit. Watch as these friends share experiences through parties, relationships, love triangles and small town injustices. This is where the angst and the tumultuous affairs are the stuff of prime time drama. Welcome to Paradise, otherwise known as Laguna Beach, California.

weak 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This was pretty good for gay fare but it started out a little weak. Hopefully since they get to do another season they will come out stronger and bolder. If you are going to be able to do stuff like this, really dig in and go at it and don't just put out something to be putting it out. This series has potential.

could have been worse 2 out of 5 stars.

As far as entertainment goes this is not the worst serial I have ever come accross but it smells rank like lost opportunities.

Set somewhere in the US, presumably along the coast in a not too large town, the serial -each episode ends with a cliffhanger- tries to mesh small town thriller, vampire flair, soft core gay sex and some social issues in the pot of gay subculture and underworld.

All this is done by a very low budget: in a time when we are accustomed to expensive special effects this forces the viewer to adjust his expectations, but personally speaking I do not find it too difficult,
provided the other forces at play are up to the task.
Here such forces cannot be rated too highly but the general result is acceptable. More or less.

The first thing I wish to pinpoint is that the six short (about half an hour) episodes that make up the first "season" are unfortunately divided in two, the first three being by far better done.
In the second part, where atmosphere creation, settings establishing and character building leaves the place to action, the script becomes much more hurried; acting, filming and direction become less and less convincing as if time and money had been at an end by then.

Not that acting or script were THAT good in the first place: one can hardly point out an original scene or conversation; as far as actors are concerned, the only one I could watch with no complaint was Beverly Lynne -the only woman- as Laura: she is pretty, she has a pleasant voice and appears at ease in front of the camera. Truth to be told she is served with the best character and by the best lines of the script.
Former gay porn star Colton Ford as the Sheriff is such a handsome stud as to make one nearly forget the silly lines he is given: he does not appear to have had a great training as an actor but he can be watched without pain and I am not telling this because he is gorgeous: he is the only main character in the show who is always fully dressed.
Brian Nolan would not be bad were he not constantly over the top.
Dylan Vox as Colin has some good moments, especially when he manages to keep his voice soft and expressive, elsewhere he is mediocre and not quite as handsome as most of the cast -body builders, all buff, all quite attractive_ is.
Jesse Cutlip and David Moretti are simply there, they pronounce their lines and that is all. Though I suppose they could be considered good looking, even their looks left me cold.
Peter Stickles was presumably cast because of his actor skills, being far from handsome, but his performance is convincing only at times and sounds overwrought or shabby everywhere else.

This serial can be entertaining if watched with little expectations and no intermission between the six parts. It can be a couple of hours of simple fun spoilt by the the rather longish previews and by the sloppy production and editing: one reviewer has rightly mentioned wounds that move from one spot to the other but this is not the worst slip by far.

Little People Matt and Amy Roloff may only be four feet tall, but they are determined to make the world their own. Raising four children, a mixture of Little and average size-siblings aged 9 to 16, the Roloffs are struggling under emotional and financial burdens. As for the kids, they play with wild abandon on the Roloff's lush 30-acre farm in the outskirts of Portland, Oregon. The eldest children, twins Jeremy and Zach, are in stark contrast to each other: Jeremy is average height while Zach is a little person.

A Wonderful blast from the past! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Great show from the past. Ian McShane is brilliant as the antiques dealer Lovejoy and his interaction with the cast of characters...Lady Jane, Tinker and Eric makes this show such a joy, no pun intended, to watch. This for sure is one of those DVD sets, where you get addicted to the episodes, meaning you intend to sit back and watch one episode, then you're on the second...third...putting in disc two with episodes 4, 5 6
I just hope they continue releasing the subsequent seasons. I have purchased seasons 1,2 and 3......watched them all, but there is no word yet on season 4's release.

Love Lovejoy 5 out of 5 stars.

A sentimental favorite 4 out of 5 stars.

My wife and I discovered "Lovejoy" by an accidental viewing on television and were hooked since. It had a limited run then and I finally took the plunge and bought several seasons. The first few were not televised when I was viewing, so these are all new to me. We enjoy the cast and the shows provide a welcome relief from typical television fare. While based on books, the characters appear to be differently portrayed, with the main character being a little more loveable and less sleazy. Be forewarned: the first season has a little profanity and brief nudity that I was not expecting.
The plots are light hearted and usually entail Lovejoy helping someone in need though we are meant to think that he is a scoundrel. He is perpetually low on cash and always has a scam going.
I truly enjoy this series and am glad that I purchased this set.

Not as good as the first 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This set (as well as the 2nd) cut out a lot of my favorite characters from the 1st season, and has replaced them with characters who make their mark with unsubtle toilet humor. Vicki manages to be in all the sets, though I don't think she's nearly as good as some of the earlier characters. Fortunately, I enjoy David and Matt's performances enough to keep watching. They are wonderful actors.

Shipping was speedy as well.

Have you ever thought about visiting Britain? Watch Little Britain and you might think again! Series Three of the ultimate catchphrase comedy sees the welcome return of some favorite characters including Lou and Andy, Marjorie and the Fat Fighters club, Sebastian Love and the Prime Minister, and trash-talk teenager Vicky Pollard. Some very interesting new faces are also introduced as well, such as Dudley, who buys a mail order bride from Thailand.

Five Star Show -- Three Star DVD 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Great TV show! 13 episodes isn't enough. Give me more!
DVD extras are given short shrift, here. There is a mock interview that is informative in some respects. Shandling mentions how the first episode produced was the last episode aired that season. Watching it as the last episode in the dvd set, it *feels* like a first episode.

All the episodes together make more sense to me when viewed in production sequence. Dunno why the makers of the dvd didn't lay it out that way. A dvd release isn't the same animal as a TV broadcast season that had an eye on ratings.

Here's the Season One production sequence, if you want it.
The broadcast sequence numbers lead each listing.

Great DVD... 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have to say when you order the seasons of LAS VEGAS on DVD it is great because they are all uncut and uncensored so you get to see the real TV show as it is supposed to be. Not like the TV version. This is so much better!!!!

i love las vegas & josh duhamel! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

i love this show, the place, the cast, the different stories, the energy that the whole cast brings to the show: action, drama, romance, comedy and their friendship with each other.

really an enjoyable show to watch.

when is season 4 coming to DVD? im excited to know what happened with the wedding.
(here in Japan, season 2 has wrapped up and season 3 is just about done, i want to know about season 4!)

its been great to have all seasons on DVD.
i only wish that for the future DVDs that the actors would be included in the commentary special feature as they were included in season 1 DVD.
its always great to hear about their personal experiences of the making of LAS VEGAS and to hear of their own inside jokes of what happened during that particular scene.

Second Season a Great Year! Just one gripe with the DVDs. 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The five star rating is for the show and not for the DVDs.

It all came together for 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' in the second season. As a fan of cop shows back to the some of the first on TV, this series ranks in the top 5. Goren is simply incredible and the entire cast was in full stride in Season Two. Great stories, great acting, great television.

My gripe with the DVDs is that they began putting a synopsis before each episode along with cast details, etc. You click for the selected episode and you are then presented with all this information before you must click again to actually play the episode. That would be all fine and good - except - the synopsis for several of the episodes are complete spoilers! Just one example would be the season's second episode 'Bright Boy' where they tell you in the synopsis who is responsible for the murders! So, be warned, don't read them if you still want to watch Goren work his magic and still be surprised as it unravels for the perp.

The other issue, of course, is that Universal has apparently chosen to drop Law & Order: Criminal Intent from their DVD offerings after three seasons. They are the worst of the worst when it comes to starting a series and then dropping it after a season or two. They've done it to some classic series that deserved much better. Strangely, Universal released Season 3 BEFORE Season 2, so actually this is the last we've heard from Universal on this show. What a pity. 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' deserved the full treatment. Maybe they will reconsider? Many of us are ready and waiting for Season Four!
