Glad I stuck with it past the pilot! 5 out of 5 stars.

The pilot episode didn't thrill me. The main character was a bit insipid, uninspiring, and bland. That is supposed to be his personality, I know, but it just didn't click with me. But then I watched the next episode, and I found myself liking him more and more. There was something really appealing about his bumbling, kind ways. Then I watched the third and fourth episodes and was completely hooked.

It is a typical 'nice guys finish last' storyline, and you could say it's a bit trite - but the main character is so well done, and there's such a brilliant supporting cast that it's enjoyable and fun to watch. The mysteries are solid - a little transparent at times, but well thought out and coherent. I started watching for the mysteries, but stayed for the characters. Even the dog is wonderful (as is Davies's devotion to him).

Bottom line: good stories, great characters, and an all-around well-done series - despite the slightly rocky start.

This was actually the second DVD I'd purchased of the same show, same year. That's because my son and daughter-in-law, also addicted to the program, had borrowed my copy and were reluctant to give it back. This 1st year DVD collection is especially fine because it features lots of extras --interviews with all the principal actors and the director and the writer. Trust me --you can't go wrong if you are a serious "Bobby and Alex" fan!

I have not been this satisfied with a cop show in a long time. Law and Order the original was such a good show and kept my attention, with CI coming on board, Law and Order is even better. I have to say that CI is my favorite and I hope that it's on TV for a long time to come. The acting is great by Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe, really a grat show.

Stop Blaming Universal! 4 out of 5 stars.

Ok this review isn't about how great this season is, but rather about the quality of the disks Universal provide in their sets. I do have the first season of this show, & I'm still working my way through it. So far I have no complaints with the show, or the disks. I've heard a number of people carrying on about how poor the disks are with Universal, but I have purchased many dvd sets from amazon, by Universal, & the disks I believe are not what is causing people the problems they keep bagging Universal for. Disks aren't the only factor customers should considered when wanting to blame someone for problems when trying to play their DVD sets. DVD players can be the cause of the problem, I know this because we have about 4 DVD players in our household. Some of them will work with these disks while others won't. Please don't ignore this set, or any other set from Universal because some people are pointing the finger of blame at Universal, rather than at the DVD player they currently use.

Vastly Overrated, Yet Innovative None The Less 3 out of 5 stars.

When Little Britain was first released here in the UK, it debuted on a little watched BBC channel named BBC THREE. Within a few weeks word had spread about this hysterical sketch show that makes fun of every British stereotype under the sun. There was the Chav teenager, the not so wheelchair bound man, the transvestite in denial, the upper class elderly racist and the man claiming to be gay simply to stand out from the crowd. Those residents of the UK can all relate to at least one of Little Britains characters, even if it isn't some of the main characters, one of the lesser seen characters will certainly ring a bell and have a person saying "That's like such and such down the street".

That was Little Britain's main appeal, but apart from the familiarity of it all it simply had no substance other than a few repetitive gags tweaked and turned to try and keep it fresh. I have no doubt that after the first series, creators Walliams and Lucas should have quit while they were ahead as they ended up destroying some well loved characters. Vickie Pollard was without a doubt the character that caused the biggest stir in the UK as it held up a big poster and said "These are the kids of today". To some it was an offensive message, but there was no doubt there was a lot of truth behind it as most working class teenagers act in exactly the same way.

Other than the odd cheap giggle due to moderate racism or general controversy that, at times had you in stitches. It's been called by many as the greatest sketch show ever made but although I'm one for difference of opinion, calling it the greatest ever is simply not true. Monty Python's Flying Circus craps all over Little Britain and Python was made more than 30 years prior to Little Britain.

Buy the Monty Python collection instead, you will get much more for your money.

I have the entire series. I started watching this program when they first came out on TV. The writing is great and so is the acting. They change scenes and keep everything interesting and moving. Try it--You'll like the suspense.

Law & Order Special Victims Unit - The Third Season is non-stop suspense. Definitely a solid and engaging season. Markisa and Christopher have undeniable chemistry together, the whole cast is extremely talented as well especially Ice-T (who knew he could act!) Some of my favorite episodes in season 3 include: Tangled, Prodigy, Popular, Guilt, and Silence. I highly recommend purchasing this flawless season, enjoy!

This was pretty good for gay fare but it started out a little weak. Hopefully since they get to do another season they will come out stronger and bolder. If you are going to be able to do stuff like this, really dig in and go at it and don't just put out something to be putting it out. This series has potential.

Hey,

Well there's not to much to say about this one. Everyone compares it to Dante's Cove which i do love, But this is no where near. If you are buying this for a Dante's Cove type feel of a drama don't you will be disapointed tremendesly. Now for the good side it is still a guilty pleasure and has very good scenes in it. All in all it is ok and worth around the price its sold at.

Ian McShane from the film the Last of Shelia (see my review) and tv series Deadwood plays Lovejoy. An shifty and always down on his luck antique dealer who finds life and mystery going hand and hand.

The original show is from 1986, these three disk DVD set barely dates itself. The mysteries are fun and easy to follow. McShane is a winner with his wink and a smile.

All ten episodes of the first BBC series are here. It is British mystery drama without all the trapping.

Damn, this show is even more boring than Big Brother. How can anyone like this load of feces? Who wants to see a bunch of spoilt little rich brats going shopping? BORING. I watched around 5 minutes of this show and I almost fell asleep. I can understand why Channel 10 axed this godawful show after only a couple of months here in Australia.

Anyone who thinks this is reality has been fooled - none of the actors use their real names and everything they say is scripted. How about putting on a show with people in a disadvantaged position who actually have to work hard for their success instead of glorifying laziness and stupidity? Oh no, we can't do that, it might actually teach kids to work hard and appreciate what they've got!!! Well, I can understand why the media doesn't want that to happen - fashion trends and pop culture thrive off the laziness and stupidity of the average young person. The fact that this show was even aired speaks volumes about the rampant stupidity present in our society. We can only hope that all the people in this show die from a drug overdose.

'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' is one great cop show. With a detective like Goren to surprise us every week with his skills is something to behold. Which, of course, in the real world means this series has incredible writers. Dick Wolf's 'Law & Order' franchise includes some great series - the original 'Law & Order', 'Law & Order SVU', but Criminal Intent is my favorite as I like like good old-fashioned detective, cop shows. It's rarely been done better.

However, unfortunately, this is a NBC-Universal project which means it's a Universal DVD property. For those that don't know - they are NOTORIOUS for beginning series on DVD and after a season or two, dropping them cold. No release for this series in going on two years now, it looks like another Universal casualty. Add that to classics like Dragnet (one season and out), Adam-12 (one season and out), Emergency (one and out); and even classic comedy series that deserved the best treatment: Leave It To Beaver - two seasons and no more. Universal does this time and time again and it's getting where I don't trust Universal when they begin a series release on DVD. Season Four for 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent', anyone???
