Killing off the best character and then replacing her with several new ones who not only aren't interesting, they are sometimes actually painful (or painfully boring) to watch onscreen? I loved this show until the 3rd season came out. If I was a less patient person I would have given up after this point. Thankfully, the show starts redeeming itself in season 4.

It is interesting, or worrisome, how many people comment about their preception of Jenny's
"stupidity" or how "borning" the character is. I find the character's succintness soooo satisfying. She consistently nails people in rather few well-chosen words. She sees who the people around her are and tells them "like it is". During the early first season I found the Jenny character cloying and really annoying. But as I watched her evolve throughout the three seasons I found I really respect her as a woman who says what she means and means what she says. She's real and true to herself and her hard-won truths. Instead of zipping by the Jenny parts of the various episodes, I wish some of you would really hear what she has to say. Maybe you would see her for who and what she is and where she's been. How many of us truly meet and grapple with our demons and come out of the struggle with our hearts and minds not only intact but also with our wits honed to such a fine edge?

Season Three finds Jenny as well as all the other characters more deeply immersed in their "s**t" than ever before. I think this season depicts the pain and strength of Jenny, Dana, Alice, Billie, Bette, Helena, et al. and their ability to deal with the unfairness and complexity of life. Some may find this boring. I find it moving, involving, uplifting and wonderful. How sad some reviewers see Jenny's scenes as an ocassion to "fast forward to the sexy parts". Is that all your lives are about?

There are no English subtitles, but there is English closed captioning, which PowerDVD handles well.

I grew tired of the plot of the series by now (internal undermining worse than all the terrorists in the world, etc), but this season answers some important questions and is a much better ending than S4.

This fifth season continues the mystery and intrigue but also answers a lot of questions and wraps up the stellar series by the creators of 48. Of course, even if I wasn't correct in this rating, you couldn't go wrong having a DVD set with the lovely Peta Wilson could you?

For any La Femme Fan (or operative), this is what you should have to complete your collection. It has what you crave (beauty, brains, strength, mystery). It also has answers! I gave it 4 stars because 2 of our favorites are not in all episodes (Madeline and Michael). The final episodes are missing some chemistry from earlier seasons. Without giving away the end, the series wraps everything up, but still leaves some open ends for fans to hope for a movie-of-the-week at some point!

This is not included on the Season one disc set, so I was very glad to see it sold as a separate DVD. You know the story - Pa packs up the family and moves to Kansas, where they face all kinds of challenges and meet the infamous Mr. Edwards.

Like all of the Little House series, it's cheesy family-friendly goodness!

I purchased this item on Amazon a few days before Christmas, hoping that it would arrive before the tree came down, and it did.
I am a rabid raccoon of a "Little House" fan and this is a must for any afficionado. It's the story of the Ingalls family boiled down to bare bones: heart, love, courage and faith. The disk is a little skimpy on the extras, but who needs extras when there are so many memories that come pouring forth the minute the DVD starts to play. Remember when the Ingalls girls were young? They were never younger than in the Pilot. Remember when Karen Grassle pretty much cemented herself as the prettiest Ma on the wild frontier? She was never more radiant than in this introductory episode. And remember when you believed in Santa Claus? You'll believe again in the spirit of Christmas when Mr. Edwards appears at the Ingalls' door, frost-bitten and determined to bring the girls Christmas presents, no matter the weather.
The DVD does contain a bit of trivia I never knew. The actor who had been cast as Charles Ingalls was late to the set on the first day of shooting, so Michael Landon, who was supposed to have been just the executive producer of the show, filled in for him. I don't know who the man who could have been Pa was, and I cannot imagine the show without Michael Landon's gentle presence as the Ingalls patriarch. He made the series in so many ways, even as it plowed toward the melodramatic at times.
You'll watch this with tears glistening in your eyes and will find your heart warmed like so many of Ma's campfire stews. And when the wagon takes off at the end for another settlement, you'll want to follow them.
A brilliant beginning for a timeless series.

I was a fan as a child. I loved this series and wanted to be just like Laura Ingalls. My daughter has also taken to the Little House on the Prairie Series. After she had read the books we started watching a few episodes here and there on TV. Then thanks to Amazon, I looked up to see if the series was on DVD, and yes they were. We have watched Seasons 1 through 5 and now are enjoying Season 6. We love to watch them over and over. My daughter will be sad when the series ends, just as I was.

This series never disappoints and is perfect family viewing. The screen quality of Series 6 is a little disappointing. The night scenes are on the dark side and it is difficult to make out images. This aside, it contains excellent stories.

I enjoyed season 1 volume 1 and I enjoyed volume 2 as well. I agree with some of the other reviewers that are disappointed that the complete season was not offered, however, I have been waiting for too long for this series to be released on dvd to protest buying it. The show is just as I remembered, cute, a little corny, and a lot of fun to watch. I can't wait until more seasons are released.

The only regret I have of this DVD is the fact that Paramount is cheapening out by releasing them as volumes, instead of seasons to try to make it appear less expensive. It's 1977 all over again and after 31 years I still get sucked into this program! The cavalcade of Hollywood has-beens from the past make up the passenger manifest in this second volume! We have Michelle Lee who wound up living on this program along with Desi Arnez Jr. Is it cheesy? Yes! But who cares! I would also watch this show as a kid every Saturday night and it always felt like I was going along with them. In fact, I would even get a little down when the final night of the cruise segment was on because that meant the episode was coming to an end. This is Television at its best! You can't go wrong with this one!

Purchasing this "Little House On The Prairie" complete seasons 6&8 was both; easy, and quick! I especially like the option to have my purchase mailed to any address I choose, this way, I can buy gifts and send them directly to whomever they are intended for and I didn't need a credit card to shop with Amazon.com - they accept money orders so it makes it an excellent place to shop!
I will most certainly buy from "Amazon" again.

The 8th season of Little House on the Prairie brings to a close the main cast that we've seen the last 8 seasons. Heartwarming episodes are just great and I loved every moment. I am sad to see the end of the 8th season as LHOTP just wasn't the same seasons 9 and 10. Totally worth the money to complete your set with season 8!

This is the saddest season. If you're picking this up for a gift for a little house fan, or if you know the series pretty well and just can't remember which season the best episodes were in.. chances are it's not here.
Stick to the earlier seasons, unless you just want this to complete your collection....A few highlights here and there, but overall most of these are just depressing.

Great Season, Sub-par DVD transfer, Horrible Editing 3 out of 5 stars.

Little House on the Prairie was really moving along when it reached season 5. Matthew Laborteaux was added as Albert who really added some depth and dimensions to the show, especially after Mary loses her sight and moves to Winoka.

The quality of the DVD for some of the episodes, as indicated by other reviewers, ranges from good, to okay, to down-right horrible. I've collected a number of television DVDs, and I have to say that this is by far the worst one in terms of quality. I mean, how difficult is it to transfer it over correctly? No one else seems to have had the trouble that Imavision has had.

Another note is that the editing is horrific. Little House episodes always went to commercial breaks with the classic "fade out." You'll note in a many of these episodes, there is an immediate cut from a scene. Unfortunately, these episodes are NOT complete. There are many parts missing in various episodes. I know that these scenes are not "lost" or "missing," because I saw them just the other day when the show was on a television network.

Understand that my complaints are due to the lack of quality that has been put into this DVD rather than with a show that I grew up with and loved to watch every week.

I can only hope that enough complaints may prompt NBC to put out the kind of DVDs that they are known for. You would think they would have put more effort toward one of the best family shows of all time.

I encourage anyone who is unhappy with their product to e-mail imavision and let them know. Perhaps with enough response, they might one day be prompted to giving us a truly complete season.

Note: It seems that most of the TV series that are released through NBC Home Entertainment are edited. These include Little House, Cosby Show, and Highway to Heaven from what I've seen and possibly others.
