Great show, but short lived... 5 out of 5 stars.

This is actually one of the only shows which I found myself laughing out loud to! Show is quite funny at times and should have been picked back up but again, FOX missed the boat. Almost as bad as they screwed up Reunion. Regardless, Mimi Rogers is very good in this as well. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable. All in all, very good show and enjoy it while you can. Pick it up for this great price, you won't be disappointed.

Loopie for The Loop 5 out of 5 stars.

What was Fox thinking when they canceled this show? A gem of a sit-com!

Bret Harrison is a doll. Too bad season 2 isn't half as good. Check out his show "Reaper."

OK, I'm ready for Season Two now! 4 out of 5 stars.

I watched "The Loop" when it was originally on the air and I was really happy when they brought it back for a second season. I just hope that this first season DVD sells well enough that they'll release the second season too.

Great TV Series where you will long for more 5 out of 5 stars.

Very short statement - I loved this series. I did not live in the USA when it was making its run, but I found a review and then purchased the series. It is a great statement about today's youth and their parents. You will long for more shows after you see it. Buy it and spend the weekend watching it.

GREAT SHOW.

Can't believe they pulled the plug on this one! 5 out of 5 stars.

I watched this show from the start, only to be disapointed with it's short term running! I think this show is more life like than any reality show thats on today. I also believe it was easier to relate to then that of all the chick flicks of yesterday! Who knew - Kelly Osbourne can act!!, As well as did a great job of it! Such a shame it came to an abrupt end.

Five Star Show -- Three Star DVD 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Great TV show! 13 episodes isn't enough. Give me more!
DVD extras are given short shrift, here. There is a mock interview that is informative in some respects. Shandling mentions how the first episode produced was the last episode aired that season. Watching it as the last episode in the dvd set, it *feels* like a first episode.

All the episodes together make more sense to me when viewed in production sequence. Dunno why the makers of the dvd didn't lay it out that way. A dvd release isn't the same animal as a TV broadcast season that had an eye on ratings.

Here's the Season One production sequence, if you want it.
The broadcast sequence numbers lead each listing.

Editorial Review:

Lexx's third year had a predetermined 13 episode run, and in a new direction there's also a predetermined continual storyline. This is teasingly set-up by "Fire and Water"--the names of a binary planet system. The Lexx is stuck in orbit around 4,000 years after the "End of the Universe." We're introduced to the mysterious Prince (Nigel Bennet) who rules the planet Fire, 790 experiences a shift of devotion, and Xev gets a new hairdo. All threads are expanded by "May" (Anna Kathrin Bleuler) who's found on planet Water. All too suddenly, Xev's in love with Prince and Stanley with May. The crew are torn every which way. Even more so when a fleet of new Moths land Kai in "Gametown", where the show's most gratuitous nudity yet reassures fans that this third year will be as dangerous and dirty as it's always been.

Ralph (Withnail & I) Brown's character Duke suddenly comes to the fore in "Boomtown." These towns teach us more and more about the lifestyles on the two planets, and since this one is essentially a nonstop orgy Stan decides Water is the planet for him! (If the nudity seemed gratuitous in "Gametown", that's nothing in comparison.) Ending on a shock appearance by Kai (no spoilers here), a balloon chase leads straight into "Gondola." Lost among the schizophrenic denizens of "K-Town," Stan and Xev are eventually found by the dead assassin whose biomechanical systems are malfunctioning. It takes a shock reappearance of season 2's Universe-destroying Mantrid to make sense of his groin-located repair mechanism. Subsequently split up, Kai suffers the red tape of petty bureaucracy in Hog Town while Stan and Xev descend 39,000 steps to the planet's "Tunnels." Stan bumps into show writer Lex Gigeroff cameoing as insane surgeon Doctor Rainbow, and escape is determined by another death and resurrection from the enigmatic Prince.

Stan has been endlessly teased by Xev. They got it together (in a manner of speaking) in "Love Grows," but here at last they experience the "ultimate in sexual satisfaction." Don't they? "The Key" metaphorically stands for a number of things in this ship-bound episode, which furthers the season's mystery considerably. And as if the sexual tension wasn't high enough already, the lifestyle offered Stan on the Water planet's "Garden" is all too tempting. The biggest lure is the return of beautiful plant gal Lyekka. Following straight on from that cliffhanger ending, "Battle" becomes a game of strategic cat and mouse aboard squadrons of hot air balloons. This season's budget helps return the look of the show to its stunning beginnings, and in this episode there are some of the best-conceived effects shots from the entire run. By now it's obvious that each community on the planet Fire is a thinly veiled satire on an aspect of modern society. A splendidly theatrical cameo from Ellen Dubin as Queen allows the viewer to question feminism, bureaucracy, and why the hell Giggerota has been reincarnated to taunt poor Stan.

At last all questions are answered in what might as well be a two-part finale. "The Beach" would for any other series be considered the clips show: on an idyllic yet purgatorial stretch of sand, Stan is forced to account for his life by viewing events of the past. Judged by his harshest critic--himself--he then suffers all that Prince has promised and more as the true meaning of "Heaven and Hell" is revealed. Creator Paul Donovan clearly maintained a strong hand in every aspect of this season, but in directing his own work with these last two episodes we witness a genuinely rare example of personal vision. The narrative has been consistently surprising, but the twist left for last is literally breathtaking. TV sci-fi has never been so sexy and intelligent at the same time. --Paul Tonks

Both sci-fi groups might have a "meeting of the minds" here! 2 out of 5 stars.
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

Back in the late 60's there were two camps of thought in regards to two shows: those that favored "Lost in Space" and those that favored "Star Trek". My sister belonged to the latter and I, the former.

But enough about familial disagreement.

Though I would've preferred that the entire third season had been presented intact in one set (thus, the reduction of two stars), there are some recommendations that can be made for the purchase of this set.

It's coincidental that the second half of "Lost in Space" has some stories that have a casting connection with installments from the first season of "Trek". "The Flaming Planet" features character actor Abraham Sofaer who appeared in the "Charlie X" episode of "Trek" as a one of the members of the mutant's race. The infamous "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" guest stars Stanley Adams, an actor that will forever be engrained in the collective consciousness of "Trek" fans as "Cyrano Jones" of the classic "The Trouble With Tribbles" episode.

Though much maligned by fans and critics alike, "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" boasts one of the series best non-John Williams' scores, music by Joseph Mullendore.

Also, two of the remaining episodes are quite good and elevate the bar somewhat for the campy series. "Target: Earth" is probably the closest the show in its later years came to "serious" drama, even with the over-the-top theatrics of Jonathan Harris. The show made a simplistic commentary about the desire to express one's individuality - a theme that was on the minds of every "flower child" of the day. Thus, like "The Promised Planet" episode, this installment was a reflection of the times.

Who said LiS had no redeeming social value???

Another bit of trivia involves "The Time Merchant" episode. Guest star John Crawford appeared, at some time or another, in most of producer Irwin Allen's productions, including the theatrical films "The Poseidon Adventure" and "The Towering Inferno".

Arte Johnson, who would later be part of the comedic ensemble that made up TV's "Laugh-In", is featured in "Princess of Space," along with Mrs. Irwin Allen herself, Sheila Matthews. Matthews had also appeared in the second season episode, "Space Vikings."

And the future "Sgt. Phil Esterhaus" of "Hill Street Blues", veteran heavy Michael Conrad, appears in pre-Planet of the Apes-inspired makeup in "Fugitives in Space". Coincidentally, Conrad's future co-star, Daniel J. Travanti, appeared in an earlier LiS season three episode, "Collision of the Planets"...as a space hippy, no less.

Therefore, six of the nine episodes in this collection have something going for them and make it a worthy addition to a sci-fi/fantasy/Irwin Allen/television history fan!

It's still too bad that Twentieth Century Fox skimps on the extras that we DVD buyers expect, causing the disc to lose its third star.

'Too bad the four-star series was shackled with a two-star package!

I have two other DVDs of the Lone Ranger, and this one has two episodes that I had not seen. There is no better western than this series. The respect that is shown to women, the dignity of Jay Silverheels, and the moral high quality of dialog is not to be equalled. You cannot find simple stories with good moral principles with this level of acting, and the intelligent dialog. A must for all ages

Luved the premier episode of SVU. To me it is eben better then the original Law and Order. I can't get enough of it.

Accuracy 5 out of 5 stars.

As a fan of the show I KNOW this is not a spin off, this was actually an individual show which was to be titled "Sex Crimes". The network decided to type this into the Law and Order show which was already a hit. This show is insitful and riviting. Each deals with a series of social and moral issues. This is an excellent show which deserves to be watched by all.

The start of a wonderful relationship 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the beginning of something that has snowballed into 4 different shows, all as great as the other ones.

Terrific episode... BUT 3 out of 5 stars.

I love this series with all my heart. I mean every Tuesday night at 10 PM I am right there in front of the TV waiting for the show to come on. And I've seen this episode many, many times. The acting is amazing, and the writing in this episode is superb. But, come on y'all. Why buy just one episode when you can get the entire first season, filled with a lot more classic 1st season episodes such as "Stalked", "Closure", "Bad Blood", and so many other wonderful episodes that started this fantastic show. So while I'm not telling anyone to not buy this product, I am saying however, wouldn't it be a smarter idea to save up a few more bucks to buy the entire season?

Truly, not funny. One of the most repulsive television shows ever. Throwing shock after shock at the viewer does not equal funny. This series has no heart.

One more thing. From the BBC site: "Although there's a laughter track, it's hardly noticeable." They lie.

THe league of Gentlemen 5 out of 5 stars.
