king of the sitcoms 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

King of the Hill is one of the greatest animated adults cartoons for a number of reasons

One, the show's been around for YEARS now, and guess what? The quality of the writing hasn't lost a step the entire time. How many shows can we say THAT about? Even South Park and the Simpsons, as much as I love those shows, hasn't been able to keep up the same kind of enjoyable consistency over the years.

Two, the storylines are so simple, and yet, THAT'S exactly what makes the show so appealing. Just a Texas family that well, lives like Texans. Nothing fancy, and there's a lot of realistic and accurate things in the show that gives King of the Hill a very family-oriented feel. So in a way, it's also a childrens show (except they mention sexual content sometimes).

Third, over 200 episodes! It's great when a good show gets to experience their full potential. Over 200 episodes (and counting) should please anyone who likes the quality of the writing.

The only problem with Season One is the same problem ALL animated shows have- the animation doesn't look as polished as it would soon appear just a couple years later. The writing is highly memorable anyway though, and that's the most important thing to remember.

Excellent! 5 out of 5 stars.

Why was this show cancelled again? This could have been the best series of all time! I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing and no matter how many times I watch it, there is still more to catch. By far the best acting and writing television has ever seen!

Excellent show !!! Glad they made this DVD. 5 out of 5 stars.

I got hooked on this show from the first episode, and I really missed it after it was cancelled. It's a good thing the network allowed the producers to continue making episodes, and finally put out a DVD.

This is an excellent show that told a gripping story. I wish more shows would be made as good as this series.

I <3 this show! 5 out of 5 stars.

I found this show just this year and I was so bummed to find out that it was turned into a mini-series only. It was playing on one of the HD channels and I was immediately hooked. I missed the first five episodes in the series and had to buy the DVD set immediately as I couldn't wait for it to replay. But then, of course, I still had to watch it as it played on UHD as well. Great series, awesome cast, very well written. I only wish there were more, MUCH more!! Sisto RAWKS as Knapp. Love it!

King of the hill is one of the best shows ever! I can't believe they havnt released any more of their seasons. I grew up with Beavis And Butthead, and now watch king of the hill all the time, the creators have progressed through the years too.. awesome!

so many better shows out there.... 1 out of 5 stars.

I am not a snotty reviewer who just likes giving 1 star reviews. I was hoping maybe someone could explain to me why this show is funny. I have watched several episodes (mostly because it comes on after Malcolm in the Middle, which i deem to be a far superior show even if its losing steam after 7 seasons) and maybe cracked a smile through a few of them, but i have never, to my recollection ever laughed. I am not too picky with what i watch (except for reality tv which I think is the worst thing to hit America since 9/11). If you want to watch better television that this watch these shows: Frasier, Seinfeld, Simpsons, Family Guy, Malcolm in the Middle, Lost, 24, Prison Break, and that 70's show. But in my humble opinion in order for a show to go on you have to stop trying to be so damn smart (unless your the brilliant Arrested Development, which was unfortunately canceled:() and start trying to be funny. And also the show has way to many touching moments. The simpsons had them but didn't use them too much, and they only work once in a while because no one really cares if a cartoon dad loves his son no matter what, its a frikkin tv show. Anyways, if someone could please politely explain what is so funny about this show, i would appreciate it.

ps. I have looked over all 6 seasons out on dvd and from the amount of reviews i have seen no one else really gives a [...] about the show. I wonder how its still on the air?

Bonus Features? 2 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is my favorite TV Series ever, and, in case you don't know already - this season was positively excellent. It breaks my heart to give this 2 stars, but the season 1 and 2 DVD collections had gobs of bonus features - deleted scenes, character comentary, making of featurrettes, you name it, it was there. There is no bonus content for the season 3 (and onwards) DVDs at all. Nothing. Even the menus feel cheap and tacked on. It's like they spent no time on these things. They crammed everything onto double sided disks to save a few bucks, and gave us no extra content because that would cost them 1 extra disk - like, 50 cents extra per DVD set.

I want to cry, and I want my 30 dollars back. I don't know about you, but I can see the episodes on TV already, the extra features are why I buy the DVDs.

Damn Bobby...It's Good 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Simply put...this collection is hilarious. This is the season in which the show really begins to pick up as far as the pace goes.

Seasons 1 & 2 are currently in syndication, and while they're not exactly BAD, I can never find myself really laughing at them.

Season 3 ends all of that, and I'm pretty sure that the show maintains that same hilarity own into the present.

This isn't the Simpsons or Family Guy----God knows it's not what they're showing on Adult Swim...but it's damn good comedy.

A Dip in Form Versus Season 3 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Most KITH fans agree that there seemed to be a swoon in Season 4 driven by a lack of creative spark. I would have to concur. While the troupe have rounded out their performances by this season, the material itself drops off. Still there are high points and I think the idea was that they were hoping to be more daring as shown but their lack of reliance on the old standby characters. Many of the recurring sketches are new, such as the socially edgy "Steps" featuring a group of gay men hanging out on the steps shooting the breeze.

The format is well-established by now: 4 discs; 3 of epsiodes; 1 of "Best Of", commentary, rare performances and everything else to which we've grown accustomed.

Personally I think it's worth owning. If you have the other 3 sets then why not just keep completing the collection?

Braver weirder and funnier THE KIDS IN THE HALL: COMPLETE SEASON 4 finds the lovable quintet reaching new heights of sublime absurdity. Highlights include an episode-length sketch starring the Queen of England and the divine confidence of Buddy Cole favorites like the Chicken Lady and Cathy & Kathie and fresh newcomers like the Losers and Fight Pickers. Endearing and edgy each sketch is a work of genius held together by inspired writing flawless timing and racks and racks of stuffed brassieres.System Requirements:Running Time 500 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY

"Engage Turbo DVD, KITT" 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I realize a lot of people out there don't like Knight Rider, but this review isn't for them! (They shouldn't even be looking at this product description if they're not interested in the show.) Apparently enough people DO like the show, since there's a new Knight Rider series airing on NBC and the release of this new boxed set.

The box is awesome...at least until the shrinkwrap is removed (reason why in a moment). This is by far one of the coolest box designs for a DVD set. Press a button at the lower-right, and a red LED scanner effect turns on with a few (very short) seconds of the show's theme music. I do think Universal should have spent a few pennies more to lengthen the audio sample. It would also have been "neater" if the effect was triggered by opening the box rather than by a push-button switch, even if it means giving up the demo "Try Me" feature for people who haven't purchased it yet.

The bad news about the packaging is a cardstock sheet on the back which is NOT affixed to the box. (Normally this kind of artwork is attached with glue dots, but not this time.) There are printed instructions for changing the LED batteries on the back of this card, and it's too big to fit inside the box after opening. So...what to do with it?? Battery instructions (and possibly a disc index) should have been printed on a card attached to the inside of the box, and the outer cardstock should have been attached to the box. Why is this an issue? Well, I for one consider packaging to be part of the product, not simply a "container" for the discs.

The discs themselves are in slim DVD cases, two discs per case, and they're single-sided encodings! Finally, fans can watch Knight Rider episodes on DVD without the technical flaws and stalls inherent with double-sided discs. There are also lots of bonus features not included with the original releases. Notably missing from the bonus features, however, are bloopers, gag reels, and NBC promotional spots. Since the size and price of this item clearly suggests it being targeted at fans, material that fans would be interested in (such as outtakes, interviews, KITT guest spots and cameos, etc.) would have been a nice addition, even at a slightly higher price.

If you're a fan of the show and haven't bought the individual season DVDs yet, get this set instead. If you've already bought the individual seasons (as I had), get this set anyway to replace the inferior double-sided discs. Even with this set's shortcomings, it's still nicely done.

Editorial Review:

I saw this when it was presented during their fund raising campaign. It truly shows the best of Onslow and his existential wit (of course courtesy of Open University). I am so glad it is now available for purchase. I am getting this ASAP.

Good old Onslow! AWWW.. nice! 4 out of 5 stars.

Still giving Hyacinth fits, I had hoped for a little more, but for us fans of the show it was fun to see another installment!

Great for beginners; good recap for fans 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

For those who have the Full Bouquet set of Keeping Up Apperances, you will find no new clips on this. However, you will find an insightful and funny rendition of Onslow introducing some of the show's best moments.

This movie makes a great recap or an "I don't want to watch every single episode again" treatise with the good family of Hyacinth. For those who have never seen Keeping Up Appearances, this is an excellent starting point from which to grab interest. If you can't laugh at this, then it is unlikely you'd find anything humorous in the Full Bouquet set, and you'll save yourself some time and money. But in the good chance you do laugh, you'll be well on your way to full social snobbery with the best of them!

Fascinating, funny, revealing 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I'd seen Kathy Griffin live at a local theatre, and also enjoyed her on "Suddenly Susan" and particularly when she co-hosted a New Year's Eve show this past December 31 with Anderson Cooper, not to mention her many appearances on TV over the years. She always makes me laugh, and that's the main reason I wanted to catch up on "D-List," as I don't have cable and the DVD was on sale for a remarkably low price. I'm not sure it's best to watch too many episodes in a row, as I did when I first got the DVD (four episodes in a row, for example, on my first viewing), as Kathy is one intense woman--at least as portrayed here. That's not a bad thing overall, as her intensity is part of the reason she can be so overwhelmingly funny, but I would suggest taking a break between episodes. It's fascinating to watch her hang with her parents, "her gays," as she calls two of her best male friends, her assistant, and her husband as she navigates the clearly treacherous waters of life in Hollywood. Never has it been both so glamourous and so depressing--it should be viewed by anyone wanting to break into that lifestyle, for cautionary purposes! But, in the end, the viewer gets the feeling you could survive--and laugh--through most of it if one of your friends in Hollywood happened to be Kathy. I recommend this DVD if you're a fan of Kathy's or if you're fascinated by behind-the-scenes Hollywood...or if you just like to laugh!

Editorial Review:

Season One of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List comes to DVD for the first time ever, giving an insider's look into the personal life of one of America's top comedians. Join Kathy, the hilarious performer who's not afraid to speak her mind, as she navigates her way through the ruthless world of Hollywood surrounded by a supportive but motley posse: her husband Matt, wine-loving parents, trusty assistant, and two "Main Gays." Nominated for a 2006 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program, this 2-disc set includes every irreverent Season One episode, a sneak peek episode of Season Two, and the entire stand-up special Kathy Griffin Is... Not Nicole Kidman. Your jaw will drop and you'll laugh 'til it hurts as she deconstructs show business myths and legends in this must-own show Newsweek calls "a subculture sensation."
