Does she ever not make a person laugh and compare it to something/someone in their own lives? Anyone who is fan of this show(and anyone who just loves to laugh) will adore this dvd. My girls love British comedy and this is one of their favorites.

Funny, just plain funny, the snobs of the World should take note. Hyacinth will keep you laughing thru her journey to the upper crest, this woman would drive a person nuts if you let her. Her antics go on and on. A must for any British comedy fan.

Great christmas of Keeping up Appearances if you need a good laugh this will make you wanna watch it to get some laughs...its crazy how she drives her husband nuts i feel bad for the guy....but its great comedy and very well worth it to.

This show is so damn funny,I can't believe it never seems to get the praise it deserves. "The Honeymooners" comes to most fans minds when they think of this show. It does have that feel to it. This season is better than the two before it and is a great addition to your DVD collection.

I ordered this item on 24th nov its now 27th dec and i STILL havent received this item!!! I paid shipping so it would get here on time as it was a christmas present and its not arrived yet!!!!! They then told me it would be here for 24th dec and guess what?????? its STILL not here! The service i have received is terrible and its made me never want to order from these people again!

I grew up with this show. It shows how comedy does not have to be vulgar to be brilliant. With its ongoing gags, its familiar charactres, and its sheer comidec brilliance makes you crave more seasons of the show. I'm an anglophile because of this show, but this show makes me darn proud of that

Bought this set a while back. A little pricey, but it's worth it. I like the crazy broad in the hat (Hyacinth). She kinda reminds me of my mother. For a while, I was only watching PBS and they showed this all the time. That was when I wasn't working, so now I watch the DVDs when I get home from the Valero station. Anyway, this show is top humor. You've got the social climber Hyacinth and then her low-class family constantly butting heads. There's nothing better than opposing classes when it comes to comedy. Some of the jokes are the same, like Hyacinth telling everyone to say her last name "Bouquet" instead of "Bucket." But the repeated gags are what make you feel at home when you watch this show. It's like always having turkey at Thanksgiving, or something. I still enjoy it, every episode.

No need to add to what others here have said. This show was fantastic from Day 1, and was so at least through the end of this last full season. It's my favorite main-stream comedy, ever! (Arrested Development wasn't really mainstream.)
However, Discs 2 and 3 fade to black after the intro Anti-Piracy screen and the Warning (Interpol) screen, and never come back. This is on a Philips player that plays every other of my hundreds of DVD's just fine.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I've left a couple of comments for other KofQ compilations. However, one of the BEST things about all of the boxed sets is they are on only three disks. If you are a diehard KofQ fan as I am, you can have marathon viewings without getting off the couch to change disks. That's the way Doug would do it: sit on the couch for the long ride--snacks within reach. I love Raymond, but 5 discs are too much. They take up a lot of room and you have to get off the sofa to change disks too often. Go for the King--its much funnier than Raymond and more user friendly.

It was hard to get used to Carrie being "chubby" for this season,but the show itself was still great. I'm glad she worked through her pregnancy,it just didn't fit Carrie's fireball image for her to look so swelled up. If your a fan of the show,this DVD set should be in your collection.

How could anyone not like this show...it is so funny. My husband and myself both have favorites of this funny TV show. We lay in bed and laughed until we cry. What a wonderful way to end a day!

When this series started, it was a fun look at a quirky family whose members were sometimes crazy but always lovable. By Season 7, Doug had turned into a selfish little boy and Carrie was just as selfish, but also cruel. In this season, it doesn't seem like they care for each other anymore, and the viewer is left to wonder why they even live in the same house. As a family unit, they were no longer believable. In real life, Kevin James had lost weight and Leah Remini was still recovering from pregnancy. But on the show, Carrie relentlessly criticizes Doug for being fat. The writers needed to recognize reality, move on, or quit. We did enjoy the development of supporting characters, but as far as Doug and Carrie's marriage is concerned, it just isn't working anymore.

PRESENTATION:
Great presentation of five slim cases in one cardboard slipcover sleeve. DVD transfers look great. No subtitles in any language on the discs. Skits are unedited, which is great, since most people only got to see this stuff on Comedy Central.
CONTENT:
Dude. I bought season one and two at the same time because I looooooved the kids in the hall. I watched it all the time on Comedy Central. Loved it. I always knew there were some crappy sketches, but most were true comedy gold.... when I was 15.
So far, now into the middle of disc four, I've laughed out loud exactly twice, feigned a giggle once or twice to make myself feel better about the purchase, and the rest of the time I've done nothing but stare blankly at the screen.
I wish I could say it was hilarious, I wish I could tell you it's one of the best things ever put on DVD, but it's just not. Most of the jokes are too obvious, and when they're not, they're just stupid. There are some great ones, the two guys who say "Nobody likes us", or "Sarcastic guy", but that's pretty much it, and not worth the price of admission to slog through the muck that is the rest of this series.
Hopefully season two is better?

King of the Hill is one of the greatest animated adults cartoons for a number of reasons
One, the show's been around for YEARS now, and guess what? The quality of the writing hasn't lost a step the entire time. How many shows can we say THAT about? Even South Park and the Simpsons, as much as I love those shows, hasn't been able to keep up the same kind of enjoyable consistency over the years.
Two, the storylines are so simple, and yet, THAT'S exactly what makes the show so appealing. Just a Texas family that well, lives like Texans. Nothing fancy, and there's a lot of realistic and accurate things in the show that gives King of the Hill a very family-oriented feel. So in a way, it's also a childrens show (except they mention sexual content sometimes).
Third, over 200 episodes! It's great when a good show gets to experience their full potential. Over 200 episodes (and counting) should please anyone who likes the quality of the writing.
The only problem with Season One is the same problem ALL animated shows have- the animation doesn't look as polished as it would soon appear just a couple years later. The writing is highly memorable anyway though, and that's the most important thing to remember.
