Season Eight just as good~never gets boring or dull. LOVE IT! 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm watching these on home TV recorded copies on VHS...fast forward past commercials. Still enjoying it and look forward to getting the DVD copies.

I didn't watch Jag until it was in the 10th season. Recently I caught it on TV reruns and got totally hooked. I had to get the DVD's. Needless to say I LOVE Harm Rabb, he couldn't be any cuter. Season two brought Catherine Bell on the scene as Harm's Partner. I love the immediate chemistry between them and the looks Harm gives her...my heart swoons. The love is there for sure now but they cannot act on it.

I didn't think it would keep getting better and better but what can I say it does. Season 8 is no dissapointment. I love how it is current with the year it was made as far as what wars are going on.

I think watching this also makes us remember our troops more and all they are doing for us. We can sit and enjoy watching DVD's safe in our homes because they are protecting and defending our freedom.

The adventures are so varied and different in each show. Season two has more courtroom time it's investigations and drama.

I cannot say enough good about this show. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent series!!! I bought this entire series for my mom. She vowed she would never watch TV again after they cancelled this series. She says it was the BEST series EVER on TV. (and she is 75 years old) Great courtroom scenes...

Awesome, awesome show 5 out of 5 stars.

I started watching this show midway through it's first season at the insistence of a friend. I'm glad I finally "caved" and watched an episode. The show handles some intriguing material in a well-thought-out manner. It might have a religious premise, but it's a show that's far from preachy.

very enjoyable 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought both season one and two. I never got to see many of the episodes when it was on tv and in watching a repeat now on tv, I missed them. I bought both seasons. I enjoy the series because it involves a number of emotions: its funny, sad, silly. But most of all I enjoy the characters (actors) and the fact that the family communicates well with each other. We need to see more of that and more shows like that.

Editorial Review:

After patriarch Will gets a job as the chief of police, the Girardi family moves to the small town of Arcadia from the big city. Middle child Joan isn't happy, and her family, consisting of science nerd Luke, paralyzed former jock Kevin, and their perpetually flustered mother Helen, isn't helping. Joan finds herself talking to God, in the form of random people who give her assignments to help the people around her. Joan keeps following God's assignments, never sure if she's really speaking to him, or just going crazy!

darker than the first season, but nice to have 4 out of 5 stars.

I was sad when they canceled Joan, and was sad again when it seemed like the second season might never come out on DVD, but then it did and I was happy to be able to buy it. I'm a Christian and I think Joan's fictional struggles with God are not far off from real-life struggles by people of faith. (No, he doesn't talk to me out loud or show up as various characters in my life.) The second season is darker than the first, but the quality is still good.

Wonderful Series 5 out of 5 stars.

I was disappointed when this series only lasted two seasons.
Had sort of forgotten about the series until I saw a rerun of it on SciFi channel.
Purchased the season one and have now ordered season two.
Was actually better and more thought provoking than I had remembered.
Glad I now have it in my library.
The opening song was a favorite of mine.
What if God Was One of Us?
Indeed, what if God was one of us, just a stranger on a bus. If we all thought that was a possibility wouldn't we treat those strangers better?
Jesus said: 'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
Could that stranger be Christ?

Editorial Review:

An average 16-year-old, Joan is going through the growing pains typical of any teenager. But after she and her family (Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen, Jason Ritter, Michael Welch) relocate to Arcadia, her life gets especially interesting when God starts paying her visits.

received the dvd quickly, I'm a huge fan of Just Shoot Me, now, since I have seasons 1 and 2, cannot wait for 3-5 to be released.

Excellent! Where are the other seasons? 5 out of 5 stars.

I remember watching the series on t.v. But I had forgotten how funny it is! I bought it so my teen age children would watch it with me and even though they hesitated at first, they only had to watch the pilot to get on with it. It is so cleverly written, well acted and above all greatly delivered that all we did was laugh our ways through both seasons so fast that now we are wondering when will these people release the other seasons. It is funny, I tell you. You are gonna love it!

i LOVE this show!!!! it's HILARIOUS!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I don't have to tell you the synopsis of this show, so the bottom line is that it ROX! this and "friends" are my favorite sitcoms because (in my opinion) they involve a young and talented cast that just clicks -- and it shows.
anyhow, I just love the writing; the jokes seem unique to me, the comments and remarks the characters make and how they interact... it just rocks! :o)

Overreaching psychoanalysis with very little hisorical substance 2 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I recently checked out this DVD from the library as I am currently reading the six volume biography of Jefferson by Dumas Malone (I am currently well into the fifth volume) and thought this would provide some additional visual references. This film certainly seems to be in line with the recent trend in biography towards psychoanalysis, of which this film, in my opinion, vastly overreaches itself, and is barebones on real facts and history. While Jefferson is certainly not a straightforward individual to understand, I do not believe he is the enigma that this film claims him to be. Certainly Jefferson's statements and writings assert strongly ideological ideas that were not always in line with the actions of his political and personal life, but this is by no means a rare human quality, especially in politics. Indeed, had Jefferson been an uncompromising ideologue, such as congressman John Randolph - his rival in the democratic-republican party of the time, he would have been roundly criticized for being aloof from reality. Jefferson held strong guiding principles, but recognized that pragmatism and compromise would be required to avoid jeopardizing the long term success of his ideals and the American experiment.

I also believe this biography overreaches in its portrayal of Jefferson as a tragic figure. It is certainly true that Jefferson lost many close friends and relatives throughout his life, including his father at an early age, his wife when she was still very young, his closest friend, and five of his six children before his death, but this is not extraordinary given the time period, nor do I think a strong argument can be made that these events significantly influenced Jefferson's thoughts, republican ideals, or actions.

Ultimately, I believe that presently much of the analysis of Jefferson is inevitably biased by academics (who make up most of the analysts on this film and certainly a large portion of those who support PBS) current aversion to the classic liberalism (what we would today call libertarianism) and limited government that Jefferson espoused. Had Jefferson been an ardent supporter of Federalism, I believe he would have received much more favorable analysis by these same analysts, such as Alexander Hamilton receives today. While the criticism of Jefferson in this film is certainly valid, the bias is due to the omission of counterpoints this film avoids mentioning.

Even without considering these criticims, this film is so barebones in its presentation of real history that no one, regardless of their political persuasion, could hope to form a valid opinion of Jefferson based upon watching it. There is strong disconnect between the college level of psychoanalysis this film advances and the elementary school level of historical narrative it presents.

HIghly original series 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Unlike some other five star reviewers of JFC, I won't pretend like I"m in some special club because I "got" this show. It took me a while to realize what I was looking at-going to wikipedia and getting a brief character background helped make a little order out of chaos. I'd say the pacing is like "Deadwood" with content more similar to "Carnivale". That is, its not really casual viewing, some things you'll need to draw your own conclusions from, it does not guide you to any. At this price, get it because who knows how long it will be around....

Just north of the border, in the tired coastal town of Imperial Beach, CA, live three generations of Yosts: surfing royalty turned society misfits. The Yost's reign and reputation, once defined in the cure of a perfect wave, has been eroded by years of bad luck, addiction and hubris. But just as things are looking like they can't get worse, a stranger named John arrives - and the Yost's banal existence is lifted into something profound, miraculous and, possibly, universal.

Editorial Review:

Filmed on location at the Family Dog Ballroom in San Francisco in September, 1970, the show captures the heyday and diversity of the San Francisco sound with three of the most well known bands to emerge from the scene: Santana, who would release their second album at the end of 1970; The Grateful Dead, including original band member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, who were making a name for themselves with their jam-filled performances; and Jefferson Airplane, who were at the time the biggest of the bands from the area.

San Francisco was an area of artistic creation during the mid-to-late 60's. Whether it was art, poetry or music, the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco was the place for like-minded individuals to explore and create. Noted jazz columnist Ralph J. Gleason took note of the exploding rock music scene and produced several television specials and documentaries spotlighting the music emerging from San Francisco. A Night At The Family Dog is one part of a two-part series (the other is Go Ride The Music) that aired on The National Educational Television Network in 1970.

The audio for this program has been extrapolated up to Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes from their original mono source! This show has never sounded or looked so good!

-Hard To Handle

-I Know You Rider
Jefferson Airplane

This was GREAT! 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a total mystery freak, and I LOVED this. These are "locked room mysteries." Who did it and how did they do it? Only Jonathan Creek knows. The interaction between the two lead characters is funny and extremely entertaining apart from the truly ingenious crimes. I have pre-ordered the second season and can hardly wait to get it.

Jonathan Creek 5 out of 5 stars.

When I first watched JCreek, one could only buy DVDs in Region 2. So I was thrilled to learn that it was available in the U.S!!!! The magician's assistant who lives in a windmill is a perfect role for Alan Davies. And Caroline as "Maddie" couldn't be better. The great debate seems to be over whether she is preferable to Julia in the later seasons. My opinion: YES! The relationship between Maddie and Jonathan is an important part of the show. Love it!

Editorial Review:

Meet the magician with the trick of solving impossible crimes. Jonathan and Maddy investigate crimes which seem to have no rational explanation. Jonathan Creek is a bit of a nerd, but he is also a bit of a quick-witted genius. Maddy Magellan is an investigative crime writer, and the pair join forces to unravel a series of mysteries. Among their many adventures, Jonathan and Maddy encounter the powers of voodoo and dream-predictions, and cases involving strange disappearances, an alien life-form and tricks of time.
