The Best of British Mystery 5 out of 5 stars.

"And you know what I would say? The world can wait." -- Lynley to Havers in a poignant moment from "In the Blink of an Eye."

This series was intelligent and entertaining, and one of my all time favorites in the history of television. Now that it has finally ended, despite the campaign to save it, this fabulous boxed set is being released. It covers everything from the initial "A Great Deliverance" through the final episode. For those who have never seen it, it is like finding a diamond among rocks. And for those who looked forward to seeing Lynley and Havers each season more than anyone else on television, it is the perfect opportunity to look back and remember why we fell in love with this BBC show which became a staple of PBS's Mystery.

Nathaniel Parker as Lynley and Sharon Small as Havers were perfect for their roles. The Inspector Lynley series was smart and atmospheric, Debbie Wiseman's opening music setting the tone for each intriguing installment. Based on Elizabeth George's characters, the BBC show grew and matured beyond the books, which frustrated some, yet delighted others. The dashing Lynley was originally paired with Havers due to politics and because it was taken for granted he would not be distracted by her in a romantic way. He was Oxford and she was from the other side of life.

The clashes that came in the first two seasons due to those differences became less important as the two quickly found there was more to each other than their reputations. They proved a great team and became quite close, their deep friendship and affection for each other rarely dwelled upon but always there beneath the surface. By season three when personal crisis hit both of them hard, it was each other to which they clung.

By season five the series had become more than the sum of its parts. Havers had softened some over time and Lynley had become more accessible, both due to the influence of the other. Season five began with Lynley suspended pending an inquiry into brutality charges, in "Natural Causes." Barbara had been paired with a very pregnant D.I. not warmed by Lynley's manner. He believes she is overlooking promising leads and ingratiates himself into the investigation. The episode provided some fun as towards the conclusion Barbara is the acting D.I. and Lynley must do her bidding.

The final episode of season five would provide one of the most poignant moments in the entire series. "In the Blink of an Eye" had a murder in Soho tied to horrific crimes in Bosnia. Catherine Russell portrayed Lynley's beloved Helen by season five and it would be her involvement in the case which would bring about events so tragic and unforseen that they would send our favorite Inspector into the bottle.

Havers and an old case would help Lynley crawl back among the living once again in season six. In "Limbo," first aired in Australia, the remains of Lynley's godson are discovered twelve years after he was reported missing. Lynley becomes deeply involved with the deceased's sister and will himself become the prime suspect in a second murder. In "Know Thine Enemy" one young schoolgirl kills herself to escape captivity and Lynley and Havers try to find another before tragedy strikes twice.

Parker and Small sparkled in their roles, giving carefully nuanced performances in mysteries both intelligent and entertaining. Fans of quality television and especially mystery lovers will find a bonanza in these 23 installments starring Nathaniel Parker and Sharon Small as Lynley and Havers. Fans truly cherished this show as much as Lynley did his cars, especially his Bristol. Included in this wonderful boxed set for fans is:

A Great Deliverance --- SEASON ONE / Well-Schooled in Murder --- Payment in Blood --- For the Sake of Elena --- Missing Joseph SEASON TWO / Playing for the Ashes --- In the Presence of the Enemy --- A Suitable Vengeance --- Deception on His Mind SEASON THREE / In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner --- A Traitor to Memory --- A Cry for Justice --- If Wishes Were Horses SEASON FOUR / In Divine Proportion --- In the Guise of Death --- The Seed of Cunning --- The Word of God SEASON FIVE --- Natural Causes --- One Guilty Deed --- Chinese Walls --- In the Blink of an Eye SEASON SIX / Limbo --- Known Thine Enemy

Editorial Review:

Anchor Bay's Incredible Hulk double-disc set offers The Incredible Hulk Returns (1988) and The Trial of the Incredible Hulk (1989), the first two of three made-for-TV movies featuring the Marvel Comics monster hero that aired after the CBS series' demise in 1982. Both discs also include a considerable amount of supplemental material, including interviews with star Lou Ferrigno and comic book legend Stan Lee. Bill Bixby returns as tormented scientist David Banner (in addition to executive producing Returns and directing Trial), as does Ferrigno as his green-skinned alter ego. In both titles, they are paired with other Marvel creations; in Returns, Banner is joined by the Mighty Thor to thwart industrial espionage, and in Trial, he's defended by blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Rex Smith), a.k.a. Daredevil. Bixby's always-credible presence brings believability to the fanciful storylines, and both features have the right mix of drama and action that should satisfy fans of the series and its graphic origins alike. --Paul Gaita

The End.... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This movie was the last we see of Bill Bixby as Dr Bruce Banner. Good movie in all yes it does have a cheesy areas but not to many. Bill Bixby whom is no longer with us puts a finally ending to the Incredible Hulk series which he was a part of from the 70's into the 80's. I would have like to seen another hero involved in this movie( like the Trial of The Incredible Hulk with Dare Devil in the Mix) or the Return of the incredible Hulk with Thor) but none the less it still is worth buying for any fan of this great and ground breaking serious.

Bill Bixby will be missed as David Banner! 4 out of 5 stars.

The Death of the Incredible Hulk (1990) is Bill Bixby's last movie as David Banner and he directed this made for TV movie! The Death of the Incredible Hulk is Bill Bixby's last film as David Bruce Banner. No one could play David Banner better than he can. Elizabeth Gracen is also good as Jasmine. Lou Ferrigno is the Hulk period. The New Hulk CGI movies don't compare to the original Incredible Hulk TV movies. The Incredible Hulk dies at the end of the movie and David Banner will finally Rest in Peace. Bill Bixby will be remembered.

I remember when this TV movie aired on NBC television back in the 1990s. A

Sad over cut episodes. 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My husband and I have purchased four out of the five seasons but we didn't know until later that many of our favorite skits are missing! The one that we miss the most is the parody of Michael Jackson's Black Or White, "Tell Me If I'm Black Or White". What a disappointment. We won't be purchasing the fifth season.

Too many skits are missing... 2 out of 5 stars.

Since this is not a complete set, I'm going to send it back to Fox. It's a sad, sad situation when skits that made the show famous are removed. There is at least one skit missing per episode and now I'm afraid they will be lost forever. One of my favorites of all time is gone - "Chrystal Waters".

Editorial Review:

It’s triple the fun with Season Three of TV’s most outrageous sketch show, In Living Color. With its off-the-wall humor and in-your-face look at celebrities and pop culture, Keenen Ivory Wayan’s creation has a comic boldness all its own. The new season introduces Jamie Foxx to an already outstanding cast. The Fly Girls return with a sexy newcomer named Jennifer Lopez. And the edgy writing is back with a vengeance. This 3-disc Collector’s Edition features all 30 hilarious Season Three episodes—and it’s gonna rock your world!

Incredible Hulk 4 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This was purchased as part of my 31 year old son's birthday - I found out he wanted it through my daughter-in-law. He also is a big Star Trek/William Shatner fan. Didn't get those genes from me...

More HULK! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I have been purchasing all of the seasons of the Hulk. Some of the material (cars, special effects) seem rather dated, but the stories for the episodes are usually well thought out and hold up very well after all these years.
Check out some of the other ratings. Most of the people have been saying that the two part episode on season 4 is arguably the best of the best for the Hulk. Called "Promethus". I would probably agree. After watching the first four seasons, Premethus I & II could very well be the best of the best.
I remember first watching the episode "The First" (two parts) way back on the original air dates and being kind of scared of the other hulk like thing. Watching it now, I really think they could have picked a better actor for the part. I think this was Dick Durock or something. Pretty silly watching him now.
Anyway, if you liked the Hulk and have any of the other seasons, you do need to purchase this one as well!

Dave talks about everything, must see DVD 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Like everyone else, I was wondering about what happened to Dave when he busted to Africa, all the rumors this one that one and all the others. Well here is all the scoop, he tells it like it is, after you see this you will go ohhhhhhhhh okay!

plus lots of funny stuff, as well as serious talk, as only Dave can say it.

This show was so in demand to keep playing after it aired, and calls and emails for a DVD were so many that here he go for the first time ever, over 200 guest, a DVD is released from one guest of this show. There is another DVD "Set" with Clint Eastwood, B.S. ( Barbara Streisand, Robert Redford, and someone else, but how about that, the biggest stars of the world, and they wont even give them there own dvd release, it's all together or nothing. Dave has is OWN release, that should tell you how compelling this particular show was, and is.

The only guest of James that was tops over this, was Robin Williams, off the hook make you pee and cry show, and that was on a couple years ago, and still no DVD from that one. hope they release that.

Dave or Daves peeps, if your reading this, please re release Killin Them Softly DVD with Closed Captioned. They play this on Comedy Channel, and its closed captioned, I would like to by the dvd as well as you would be suprised how many people out there have bad hearing, not just deaf. as we have in our family. since the comedy channel already has it captioned, maybe can look into using that over to the dvd, this way not much of a new incured cost, eh?

Also, Daves show season one and two, actually say closed captioned on the box, but its not. I emailed lots of people of this site and asked them to try there dvd out to see, everyone said the dvd they have also doesnt have it. please address, again on tv its closed captioned, maybe transfer it over to the dvd's? to lesson the cost. think of all the people that will now buy these dvds now that it has it, thanks.

Lipton's studious research and enlightened curiosity has inspired his guests to open up and confess their deepest thoughts about their craft since the series premiere in 1994.

Dave Chappelle appeared as a guest on Inside The Actors Studio early this year - shortly after his dramatic exit from Chappelle's Show and his pilgrimage to Africa. Upon his return to America, he chose the freedom of this show to reveal why he was able to walk away from TV riches - and what was revealed to him in Africa. The sometimes hilarious, often touching and always intriguing answers to these questions are waiting here in this Emmy®-nominated episode.

Intelligent series 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I was not sure whether I would like Inspector Morse when I bought the entire collection. My fears were unfounded. Although each episode moves at a leisurely pace, each one is delicately spun and crafted. The aristocratic airs of Morse add a wonderful snobbery to his character. The background score, the wonderful Oxford environs, and the riveting plot lines make this an incredible series to watch. I loved each episode but particularly loved "Service of All the Dead" in which the multiple murders in a church had a wonderfully eerie feel. Highly recommended intelligent TV viewing.

Editorial Review:

The complete series of this award winning murder mystery is available as a collection, including all thirty-three episodes, plus two bonus programs, The Making of Morse and The Story of Morse. Also included is a fascinating book, The Oxford of Inspector Morse; all are handsomely presented in a custom wooden box.

Award winning actor John Thaw (Kavanagh Q.C., Goodnight, Mister Tom) stars as the melancholy, enigmatic and romantic Inspector Morse, a man who never uses his first name and who finds solace in real ale, classical music and difficult crosswords. Together with his able Sergeant Lewis (Kevin Whately), Morse uses his considerable intellect and passion for truth and justice to investigate death and murder in the English university town of Oxford. approx. 58 hrs. col.

Editorial Review:

Lynley and Havers are about to face their ultimate tests. Nathaniel Parker (Far from the Madding Crowd) and Sharon Small (About A Boy) return as the New Scotland Yard team of Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers in four riveting murder mysteries that share some striking--and disturbing--parallels to their own lives. Having weathered the early storms of their partnership, the high-brow Inspector and the emphatically working-class Sergeant face new challenges--including questions about Havers' future and Lynley's loyalty. While solving murders remains the partners' focus, Lynley finds it hard to find the proper balance between work and marriage to his wife, Helen, while Havers struggles to bounce back from her demotion and to find her proper path in life. While Lynley and Havers unravel the heinous and suspenseful mysteries based on Elizabeth George's best-selling whodunits, they are also grappling with a mounting series of challenges and twists in their personal lives in a season that culminates with a true cliffhanger.

In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner The daughter of a retired detective and her companion are murdered in the bucolic countryside of northern England, leading Lynley and Havers to countless suspects--and more victims.

A Traitor to Memory When Eugenie Martin falls victim to foul play, her complicated and tragic past provides Lynley and Havers with an obvious suspect--and a case that doesn't quite add up.

A Cry for Justice Morag McNicholl appeared to live a life of quiet respectability, but her death reveals a darker existence. As Lynley focuses on her mysterious past and the death toll mounts, Havers follows her hunches by going undercover.

If Wishes Were Horses There's no shortage of suspects in the murder of noted criminal profiler Dermot Finnegan. But when the case hits too close to home, Lynley takes extraordinary measures to bring the murderer to justice.

Editorial Review:

Talk about a puzzling case. Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley of Scotland Yard (Nathaniel Parker, Far from the Maddding Crowd) is assigned to investigate the gruesome murder of a farmer in a seemingly peaceful country village, but it’s his new partner, Sgt. Barbara Havers (Sharon Small, About a Boy), whom he’s finding indecipherable. Havers is as gritty, rumpled, and working-class as the Inspector is refined, well-heeled, and sophisticated.

Is the murderer the farmer’s shy daughter who was found next to her father’s decapitated corpse? The nephew who stands to inherit the farm? The estranged wife who’s protecting her new family from an unsightly past? Or is it a suspicious village resident with a shady past and a weak alibi?

Based on the best-selling mystery by Elizabeth George, A Great Deliverance introduces Inspector Lynley with first-rate performances and abundant amounts of nail-biting suspense.

Special DVD features include: virtual tour of the Mystery! studio; Q&A with Nathaniel Parker and Sharon Small; selected cast filmographies; selected cast list; biography for Diana Rigg, host of Mystery!; bibliography for Elizabeth George; selected cast list; link to the Mystery! Web site; closed captions; and described video for the visually impaired.
