I would love to give this 5 Stars but it's sadly lacking the greatness of all the other seasons. It's really heart breaking, since usually, things get better with time, regarding TV shows.
It seems to me that for the most part, Lucy and Desi were just going through the motions. It seemed really forced and I must agree with other reviews, the hour long format seemed far too long. 30-45 minutes tops would have been about right. They stretched it out with nonsense skits and far fetched plots. It was an insult to their talent, wasn't it?
Bill Frawley and Vivian Vance were wonderful, as always, but the marital strain showed between Lucy and Desi. Lucy looked as if she aged ten years after her new hair-do and the clothes she wore were grandma-like. I even noticed the changes the house went through, like the weird floral curtains?? and the missing china cabinet and what about the view into the living room from the kitchen - where did the hallway come from suddenly?? The glass windows are missing and the back-drops move when the actors walk past them! These are big things.... maybe they thought nobody would notice?? I guess they didn't count on DVD sales let alone multiple re-runs!
No, these shows were thrown together, shoving TV and film stars in to compensate for the lack of quality. Such a shame. I'm the biggest I Love Lucy fan there is, but I'm also realistic. What I'd love is the complete set of The Lucy Show with Vivian Vance - the black and white series. Now those were good!

The I Love Lucy Hour Shows is a series of hour-long specials that aired from 1957-1960 that continued the I Love Lucy saga. Housewife Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) lives in Westport Connecticut, with her bandleader husband, Ricky ( real-life husband Desi Arnaz,) and their son, Ricky Jr. (Keith Theibodeaux.) Always nearby are the couple's best friends Fred and Ethel Mertz (William Frawley and Vivian Vance.) Ricky's job as an entertainer requires him to travel a lot. As a result, he often takes Lucy, little Ricky, and the Mertzes with him to such far-off places as Japan and Mexico. Ricky's career also allows him to meet many famous celebrities, from Betty Grable to Ida Lupino. Of course, when Lucy meets up with these celebrities, chaos naturally ensues.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU OPEN THIS. THE DVDs ARE NOT SUPPORTED WELL ENOUGH IN THE BODY OF THE JEANNIE BOTTLE. MINE TUMBLED OUT, HIT THE FLOOR AND WELL ... WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. EACH DVD IS HELD IN ITS OWN SLEEVE; ALL THE SLEEVES ARE GLUED TOGETHER IN AN ACCORDION-LIKE FASHION. THE DVDs ARE TOO HEAVY SO THAT'S WHY THE SLEEVES BROKE APART FROM ONE ANOTHER AND THE ENTIRE SET FELL OUT. THE CONCEPT IS AWESOME. THE FINAL PRODUCT, NEEDS SOME WORK. I'M NOT ENTIRELY DISAPPOINTED THOUGH. THE PRICE I PAID IS LESS THAN BUYING THE SERIES SEPARATELY. A TRUE "I DREAM A JEANNIE" FAN TO THE END.

The Amazon photo makes it look shiny in it's packaging but,
In person sorry say it looks like garbage, since the so called replica is made out of cheap flat cardboad and in no way does it look as pictured on amazon where in the photo it (to me) gives off an impression of the bottle being made from plastic. Cheap looking and very disapointing.
What a rip off! The set looks like it will fall apart with the first touch!

I got this for my husband for a Christmas gift. It is pretty entertaining. It is mostly just "fluff" T.V., but watching some of these guys whine and cry cracks me up. The ice road itself is pretty amazing. When it starts melting, I don't know how these guys keep driving on it to get in their last loads... Overall, I would recommend it.

It's great to watch this show again after so many years. Many of the other shows from the era slid into silliness, but I Spy was a class act. These transfers are not too bad. They are a bit dirty, particularly the (excellent) opening graphics. So, essentially, this isn't quite on par with the transfer of The Invaders for instance. Shadow areas are also a bit crushed. Overall the presentation is nice and is quite pleasant upconverted. The price is what hooked me into buying the first season. No regrets, but I would have paid extra for a real remaster.

Inspector Lynley is the next standardbearer for the Inspector Morse series (starring the late John Thaw). I'm not sure how many more there will be, but any and all are good.

This series continues with Lord Thomas Lynley and his partner Sgt. Haves in top form solving crimes as well as delicately manipulating class lines and protocal of aristocracy and common folk each coming to a deep respect and love for one another. Great series, well made, well written, and an exiciting addition to those who are fans of Lynley. Nate Parker and Sharon Small are oddly a great match!

If you loved the show of course you will love the DVD set. Unfortunately, if you expect any extras you will be disappointed, as there are none. I would love to see extras such as bloopers and outtakes from this show. Overall, this is definitely a TV show box set on the cheap. So, if you can get the set on the cheap go for it. Otherwise, wait for the reruns to return on TV Land.

Fun & funny box set! I Dream of Jeannie is my all time favorite show! I have been waiting forever for these shows to be released to DVD! Oh Joy! These are must have season sets. I shall buy them all as they release them! I Dream of Jeannie is an old show full of good laughs, if you've never seen it, please check it out & enjoy some "old fashion" humor!

Picture and sound (even though a 2-channel mono) are simply amazing.
It's as if I were viewing it for the first time.
Sony says it all. They have proven it so many times by now, it is almost useless to repeat it.
This is how DVDs of old movies and TV shows should be cleaned up and presented to a demanding audience.
It really should be imposed as the standard in DVD production.
Just look at the "Ultimate Bond Collection" and you will see what I mean.
When SONY gets at producing something they really work at the material and they probably sweat over it too, 'cause the results are simply unique.
Even Criterion could take them as an example (and I am now referring to their unfortunate "Last Emperor" DVD release, which is simply not worth buying).
I hope SONY will take care of many more movies in the future and never allow their standard to drop.
