Can't Wait To Get My Season 6 DVD!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I agree with Leon. I already have the DVD 1-5 Season Episodes. Can't wait until this Season 6 is delivered. I pre-ordered it. "Girlfriends" was the most underrated T.V. show. I used to watch it ALL the time. The women used to get themselves into some funny situations. I used to laugh my a** off until tears rolled down my cheeks. I was so sorry to see the show cancelled. What a shame. What a loss. Between Toni and her materialistic/self-centered/gold-digging self and "Joan's" mothering and old-fashioned/Victorian attitude about sex (she was the Ice Queen) and her "6-day rule". this show was so hilarious!!! Thank God for DVDs! I can now enjoy this show over and over again. I even adopted Maya's famous line "Oh, Hay-ell No" in my everyday conversations when I didn't agree on something someone said (Smile)

I have always been a fan of the show and always watch it when its on even though i have seen almost all the episodes several times.I did notice some of the episodes that looked pretty bad.The transfers were horrible on at least 2 episodes and that kind of ruins it for me.I like them to be equal in quality.I cant give the set to bad a ratng because of a few bad transfers so i have to say it was ok.I hope the next set is better.

Editorial Review:

When it comes to classic TV, "Green Acres" is the place to be! Head back to Hooterville for the complete second season of this riotous rural frolic. Eddie Albert stars as Oliver Wendell Douglas, the esteemed attorney who trades the rat race of Times Square for farm livin' and fresh air. In turn, his elegant Park Avenue wife Lisa (Eva Gabor) must give up Manhattan's fashion stores for Hooterville's barn chores…all in the name of love! Together they bring a hilarious touch of class to America's most lovable country comedy. So say goodbye to city life, and hello to the simple life…"Green Acres," we are there!

Gomer..........Season 3 5 out of 5 stars.

Hilarious....some great episodes included in the 3rd season of Gomer Pyle...well worth the investment....I already have pre-ordered season 4

I've been waiting for Lou Ann Poovie 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Half way through the third season Lou Ann Poovie finally meets Gomer. I've been waiting for Lou Ann since the first season in Black and White. Well Actually...She is as awesome and ditzy as I remember her. And maybe I'm the only one that noticed but Sgt Carter's girlfriend Bunny is around in the beggining of the 3rd season and by the middle of the season she isn't in any episodes and Sgt. Carter and Duke are love struck by Lou Ann Poovie. That Sgt. Carter moves on quickly...Or maybe Bunny just got on his nerves since they are both "Type A" personalities. This season is full of surprises. One surprise that cracked me up is when the Ultra Liberal anti-war Rob Reiner was was inquiring from Gomer about enlisting in the Marines (coincidentally that episode was aired in the pinnacle of the Vietnam War, typical Hollywood Liberal!). But then he stayed true to his liberal roots in the Beatnic episode when he asked Gomer how to get out of the Marines once he got in. However, I must say, that Beatnic episode is a bit shocking as Stg. Carter rips the blouse off the Colonel's daughter and exposes a womans bra on television. That left me a bit shell shocked that a womans bra was shown on TV in the golden age of the 1960's.

Editorial Review:

Gomer Pyle, a naive country boy, leaves his home in Mayberry, NC to join the U.S. Marine corps. His perpetual wide-eyed innocence frequently gets on the nerves of his tough, loudmouthed sergeant. A successful spin-off from THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW.

Editorial Review:

The lives and loves of four feisty African-American women, and their male friend, form the hit formula for this long-running sitcom. Golden Brooks, Jill Jones, Traci Ellis Ross, and Persia White play the foursome navigating the sometimes choppy waters of life in Los Angeles. Joan (Ross) succeeds in her career as a lawyer, but she struggles to find that same success in love. Surrounding her is her independent assistant, Maya (Brooks); intelligent but flighty roommate, Lynn (White); and man-crazy friend, Toni (Jones). And while William (Reggie Hayes) spends a lot of his time with the girls, he still hasn't learned everything there is to know about women. This collection presents the first five seasons of this irreverent and heartwarming comedy.

A great satire of 90210. Watching the whole series lets you see how the WB interfered with show. Excellent performances and great writing. Irene Molloy is outstanding. Great to have the whole series on DVD.

grosse point - great great & great 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

If you didn't get a chance to watch the aired original (and you like the genre - a teen soap having a huge dig at itself) then do yourself a big favour and get your hands on the complete series now that is available.

Every role is well postioned and excellently acted with top verbal humour, magnificent facial expressions (hunter is a hoot), and a good old "will they - wont they romance" playing out deliciously.

Sure the series ended abruptly, but it don't matter really. Write your own series 2 in your head if you need to, but re-watching the full series 1 over and over is a constant chuckle, roar and side-split.

You won't be dissapointed.

1950s TV 5 out of 5 stars.
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

Seeing Burns and Allen comically collaborate with each other is obviously an enjoyable experience. What is also interesting for those not that familiar with early 1950s TV advertising was the way in which "Carnation Milk" (the show's sponser) was worked into many of the episodes. The show's "announcer", (often it was Harry von Zell) would drop by the house and engage in a 2-minute discussion with the other characters about the benefits of Carnation milk. To modern sensibilities it can often seem jarring, but in some instances the writers manage to work in this commercial plug in an entertaining enough fashion. The DVD features a variety of shows taken from different seasons, so you also get a sense of how the character of Harry Morton (Burns and Allen's next door neighbor) was played by different actors.

Fantastic 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Although I'm only 17 I enjoyed watching the 8 episodes of "Burns & Allen" on this DVD. Picture quality is very good for a live TV series from the 50's, and most episodes contain original commercials for Carnation Milk, which are almost as entertaining as the show itself. Overall I'd recommend this to those looking for an alternative to the so-called "comedy" on network TV lately.

Grey's Anatomy season 4 blu-ray is another great season! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Grey's Anatomy season four blu-ray is a great addition to anyones blu-ray disc library. This show is one of the better shows currently on TV. I will be the first to admit I have never really been in to medical shows, but Grey's Anatomy is a show that has just the right amount of comedy mixed in with just the right amount of drama. Those two things along with the great cast take this far beyond just another medical TV show. The blu-ray of Greys Anatomy season four looks and sounds great, but not as good as Lost season 3. It still looks much better than regular DVD though. Below are the bonus features.

*New Doc on the Block Get to know the newest ladies at Seattle Grace - Dr. Hahn, Dr. Lexie Grey and Nurse Rose. Hear from each actor about their role on the show and from the other cast members on working with them.

*On Set with Patrick & Eric Get some one on one time with Seattle Grace's dreamy team. Behind the scenes moments with Patrick and Eric on location in Seattle and on set. Also hear from fellow cast members as they share stories about the pair.

*Good Medicine: Favorite Scenes The Cast of Grey's tell of their favorite scenes from Season 4.

*Extended Episode - "Forever Young" includes audio commentary by actress Lauren Stamile and executive producer and director Rob Corn.

*Audio Commentary - With actress Chyler Leigh and associate producer Karin Gleason

13 hilarious episodes 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is one of my favorite comedy series. Although series 3 contains only 13 episodes, its absolutely worth buying it! The way it is made with all these flashbacks, makes it different and interessting from other comedy series. Its so funny to see how the parents react to their kids, remembering what they have done as teenagers, and often still behaving like teenagers themselfs. Can't wait for season 4 to be released!!!

bob makes it look easy. 4 out of 5 stars.

seven movies prove that bob hope can do no wrong. the comedy is as sharp
as can be in the facts of life while alias jesse james reunites bob with

jane russell. take a chance on this one. you won't be dissapointed.

now if someone will relase beau james on dvd...

Bob Hope 4 out of 5 stars.

It was funny, but some of the movies were better than others. The best two movies were Alias Jesse James and I'll Take Sweden. Half are in color and half are from the days of black and white films. In watching these movies, you are able to watch Bob Hope develop (over time) his acting ability in the film format and also his humor expressions.

Thanks for (some of) the memories 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

It may be safe to say that Bob Hope is a Hollywood legend. He achieved this status through some decent acting and comic timing, along with his USO tours and a few really good movies (most notably, his Road pictures with Bing Crosby). Somewhere along the way, however, I think Bob Hope became a bit of a caricature of himself and his later work didn't really display how good he once was. The MGM Movie Legends Collection of seven of his movies shows the gradual decline in the quality of his work. (To be fair, however, a lot of the failings in these films were beyond his ability to fix.)

The first movie (chronologically) is They Got Me Covered, a World War II movie with Hope as a bumbling war correspondent and Dorothy Lamour as his love interest. He is given a lead on a complex sabotage plot, but his informant is soon killed and the only copy of the notes are in an untranslatable shorthand. This film and the second in the set - The Princess and the Pirate - have Hope at his peak. This second picture has Hope as a 17th century version of a vaudevillian who rescues an incognito princess from a vicious pirate. Unfortunately, he also has the pirate's treasure map, which makes him a very wanted individual.

While the first two movies are on practically the same level as Hope's best movies, a slight decline is seen in the next one, Alias Jesse James, in which he plays an insurance salesman who has sold a policy to the famous outlaw. Now, he has to make sure James stays alive. There's a lot of good humor in this one, but sometimes Hope seems to be doing a Lou Costello imitation, and the attempt to capture the glory of his earlier comic westerns (such as The Paleface) is only partially successful.

The Facts of Life is the movie where the films really start to go downhill. Though still passable, this comedy-drama has Hope and Lucille Ball trying to cheat on their respective spouses and finding an affair is not as easy as it seems. I would imagine at the time that this was a disappointment to many Hope (and Ball) fans who would have expected something a bit more comic and less serious.

Road to Hong Kong is an improvement, thanks to the easy chemistry of Hope and Crosby, but the third member of the Road pictures, Lamour, is relegated to a cameo appearance, and female lead Joan Collins is no Lamour. Nonetheless, the formula is tried and true and works.

The last two movies in the set are easily the worst. In I'll Take Sweden, Hope plays a widowed father of Tuesday Weld. Hope is the ultimate square, and though the film seems to mock teenagers, it actually just makes Hope look dumb. Frankie Avalon is Weld's love interest, but Hope doesn't like him, so he moves off to Switzerland, where she falls for someone even worse. The final film, Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number, is little more than a sitcom episode, with Hope accidentally getting entangled with a movie star. It's one of those stories that could be resolved quickly and cleanly if Hope just speaks the truth immediately, but he doesn't and the forced wackiness ensues.

The last movies are riddled with bad dialogue, contrived plots and cheap-looking sets, all of which were things beyond Hope's control. I do feel, however, that by the time of these films, Hope had been typecast into a role as himself, just spouting off one-liners and seeming like a stand-up comic more than an actor; in fact, in I'll Take Sweden, his character's name (Bob Holcomb) is practically his own.

The set offers little in the way of extras beyond trailers. In the Amazon rating system, the first two movies rate a high four stars, Road to Hong Kong a low four, Alias Jesse James a high three, The Facts of Life a low three, and the last pair barely two stars. Overall, I am giving the set three stars; while it's got some good films, it also is a poor showcase for exactly how good Hope could be.
