Editorial Review:

South Park aside, the eternal struggle between good and evil may be too heady a subject for a primetime animated series, but God, The Devil and Bob certainly gave it a run for its money, and did so with irreverent humor. Unfortunately, the laughs didn't translate for some sections of the country, and complaints from affiliates caused NBC to pull the show after just four episodes; viewers that missed G/D/B during its initial run in 2000 can now explore the entire series on this two-disc set. The premise (courtesy of creator Matthew Carlson of Malcolm in the Middle) has God (voiced by James Garner) striking a wager with the Devil (Alan Cumming): if just one person can convince him that the world is worth saving, he'll spare humanity from destruction. The Devil is allowed to choose the candidate, and true to form, he picks the least likely person to determine the fate of the world--self-centered, slow-witted autoworker Bob Alman (French Stewart from 3rd Rock from the Sun). Reluctantly, Bob accepts God's challenge, and tackles Hollywood ("There's Too Much Sex on TV"), free speech ("Bob Gets Involved"), adultery, and even the Almighty's love life ("God's Girlfriend"), while trying to avoid the temptations of Satan.

Though often clever and well-voiced by its all-star cast (which included Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne and The Simpsons' Nancy Cartwright as Bob's wife and daughter, respectively), it's difficult to say if G/D/B might've survived its initial season, had it been allowed to show all 13 episodes; the scripts are often as glib as they are provocative, and lack the overall quality of similarly "grown-up" cartoons as South Park and Family Guy. At final glance, G/D/B is an interesting failed experiment for animation fans. The two-disc set includes commentary on five episodes by Carlson and executive producers Harvey Myman, Neil Thompson, and Gary Murphy; digital storyboards and a 20-minute making-of documentary are also featured in the extras. --Paul Gaita

Love Grey's Anatomy 5 out of 5 stars.

I didn't start watching Grey's until the second season. I have a busy (multi-tasking) schedule and am not able to watch the whole shows at times. This allows me to watch them on my schedule, instead of the rerun schedule.

Live life with margin... or else... 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is the DVD that is accompanied with a study guide of the same title. You'll have to watch the video and use the guide to take notes and follow along.

In this series, Andy Stanley talks about having margins in life, and if a person lives life at the edge where culture and society pushes them, having no margin for error, when something happens, there will come grave consequences. The 6-week study consist of the following:

1. Less is More - About having margins in life
2. Downtime - About having margins with our schedule
3. Quality vs. Quantity - About margins in our finances
4. Reordering Your Finances - Practical tips on having margins in finances
5. A Time to Run - About margins in our morality
6. Finding Professional Margins - About margins in our work

With the stress and pressure of life, we need to learn and practice what God has intended for all our lives - margins!

Great video for a SS Class or Small Group! 5 out of 5 stars.

Our Sunday School class watched this entire series and Andy Stanley delivers a powerful straight-talk message on creating more margin in many areas of our lives.

He defines margin as the space between your current performance and your limits and goes on to apply this with our life, our schedules, our finances, our morality and our work.

Each video is around 40-45 minutes which is perfect for a class lesson or small group session.

Highly recommended!

TOO MANY VERSIONS AVAILABLE 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I'm going to go out on a limb, but I assume the latest DVD release is the one that has "Rescue" "From" and "Island" in blue letters and "Gilligan's" in red letters. Gilligan's head is on left and Skipper's is on right with the professer and the skipper at the bottom. The reason I'm not sure is because Amazon has the DVD release date January 1, 1978. Now I know I haven't been on a desert island, but I'm pretty sure there was no such thing as DVDs in 1978. Many versions have the opening theme and end credits removed. This may or may not be one of them. Personally I thought the basic idea of the story was very good. Giving us the chance to see the castaways attempt resume the lives they knew before the shipwreck. If you're not sure which version to buy, as I'm not sure either. I can only recommend getting 24 FILM comedy star SUPERPACK. It has the complete Rescue From Gilligan's Island with opening and ending credits along with 23 other movies. But be warned the picture is fuzzy. I hope someday an official release will happen soon.

Editorial Review:

The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show which premiered in October, 1950 was one of the first comedies to make the successful transition from radio to television. Similar to the format of the radio program in which George Bruns and Gracie Allen played themselves, the domestic comedy was set in their home. This was the first TV series to depict the home life of the working show business couple. Gracie pulls one stunt after another, while George steps out of the scene to narrate. Great family fun! Still getting smart 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Smart. Maxwell Smart. The dumbest spy in the world, who fights on behalf of the forces of goodness and niceness, and succeeded in making democracy vs. communism a lot more entertaining. And the second season of spies, lies and kookiness only gets funnier, with Don Adams and Barbara Feldon continuing to save the free world.

Don Adams is Agent 86, Maxwell Smart, a not-so-bright spy with an endless arsenal of strange devices and odd sayings. The bumbling spy at a top-secret government agency called Control, which tirelessly works to keep the free world free. He's accompanied by his capable partner/love interest Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), and overseen by the long-suffering Chief (Eward Platt) who puts up with Smart's constant mistakes.

The second season starts off rockily, with KAOS reprogramming Hymie to murder the Chief, and soon they step up their attacks against CONTROL: KAOS's new leader Siegfried (Bernie Kopell) kidnaps the Chief, and Max responds by kidnapping KAOS's top assassin... unfortunately sparking off a bunch of revenge kidnappings, until nobody is left at either organization.

As the season goes on, Max encounters new obstacles and plots against the free world -- he fakes his death, impersonates a safecracker, goes to Casablanca, tries to solve serial killings in the tropics, works in a circus, suffers amnesia, and is pursued by an evil big game hunter, a la "The Most Dangerous Game."

And what's more, and 99 have to deal with art thieves, submarines, mummies, beauty pageants, Arab princes, mouthy KAOS parrots, CONTROL being closed down, smiling killers, bronze paint, the Choker, going to jail, and a seductive woman who may be the dismantlement of Hymie.

The important development of "Get Smart's" second season is that Max finally gets a regular nemesis. As Holmes had his Moriarty, so Max has his Siegfried: a heel-cracking German with an exuberant sidekick, and a catchphrase of his own ("Ve don't ____ here!"). Siegfried isn't in every episode, but he crops up often enough to be worth noting.

Basically, the second season polishes up the kooky spy antics of the first, with more slapstick antics, delightfully weird problems (Max as head of the CONTROL workers' union?), and movie homages ("Goldfinger," "The Most Dangerous Game," "Casablanca"). Not to mention those wonderfully improbable gadgets ("Why hide a tape recorder in a camera and a camera in a tape recorder? Why not just take pictures with the camera, and record with the recorder?" "Because my mind doesn't work that way, that's why!").

Don Adams is the heart of the series, with his quirky face, nasal voice, odd body language and confident catchphrases ("And loving it!"). Max is not your usual inept spy -- he's confident that he's suave and competant, and somehow this carries him through to the end. Barbara Feldon plays a wonderful straight woman to Max's goofiness, while Edward Platt is just wonderful as the long-suffering Chief.

As for the new characters: Kopell is hysterical as "Zigfried," an excitable Germanic KAOS agent who is constantly thwarted by Max, which tends to upset him. David Ketchum is introduced as the aptly named Agent 13, an unlucky guy who is always hiding in tiny unpleasant spaces (garbage cans, freezers).

"Get Smart" didn't get smarter in its second season, but it definitely got better, especially with the introduction of Siegfried. Definitely a must see, for fans of spies and madcap comedy.

This DVD is just the first 8 episodes of the first season - not really "Farm Favorites". I enjoyed them - but wish I had just paid a small amount more and bought the entire first season. The pig, Arnold, wasn't even in these episodes!

If you have never seen green acres then I would recommend that you buy a copy to see if you like it but if you have already seen green acres then I would buy the complete season that has been released so far. If you are a big comedy fan or just love comedy then you will for sure love this so I would buy the complete season of each one as well. I have all three seasons and wishing they would release the rest of them so I can complete my collection.

huge disapointment 1 out of 5 stars.

This is a 5 disc set, but there are only 2 shows on 4 of the discs, and bio on the 5th about hollywood couples.I bought it for $18, but I still felt ripped off. I bought a Burns and Allen DVD at the dollar store with more episodes than this. 18 bucks for 8 episodes is pretty high priced!

Clean humor 4 out of 5 stars.

Good clean humor. These two were such a good team. Refreshing . I wish more shows were like these. No, I am not a senior citizen I just enjoy clean shows.

George Burns and Gracy Allen 2 out of 5 stars.

I mistakenly bought this. This is too old of program. I thought for some reason I was getting the old radio shows.

Editorial Review:

This fabulous five-DVD collection brings you the very best of George Burns and Gracie Allen from their classic `50s TV sitcom, The Burns & Allen Show. You'll love the daffy antics of Gracie and the endless patience of straight man George as they get mixed up in one hilarious situation after another.
