Garfield, Then and Now 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The cover of this DVD shows the 1998 Garfield gazing in the mirror at his early 1978 self, the subject of these three specials. In 1980, Mt. St. Helen's blew it's top, and Garfield's first book, Garfield at Large, topped the New York Times bestsellers list. Two years later, Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez, the team that brought Peanuts to the screen, unleashed Jim Davis' fat cat in his first prime time special, Here Comes Garfield. His first special was an Emmy award nominee, but the next year he took the Emmy with 1983's Garfield on the Town, and returned in a disco-era update, Garfield Gets a Life. Each of these specials was originally released on video, and all three are now together on this bargain-priced DVD for a flashback trip with Garfield down memory lane.

Editorial Review:

In Here Comes Garfield, poor, sweet Odie is sent to the pount after he and Garfield are caught trying to annoy a nasty neighbor, and it's up to the fat cat to free the dim-witted pup. In Garfield On The Town, Garfield escapes on a trip to the vet, has a run-in with some alley cats and meets his long-lost mother. Finally, Garfield Gets A Life finds Garfield, Odie and Jon spicing up their lives with makeovers, dating services and disco dancing.

Keep The Good Times Rolling! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The third season of Good Times was the last official season for Newark born John Amos to play the family patriarch James Evans Sr. SAdly, Esther Rolle who played the family matriarch Florida Evans fought desperately to keep the Evans family with father and mother but that's another story. This season proves how essential and important the father was to the story.
The first episode is entitled the Family Gun featuring James Sr. buying an illegal handgun to protect his family. In the meantime, Florida's purse was reported stolen but the African American police officer takes a week to visit their apartment and keeps calling her Georgia and keep repeating that it was a bicycle not a purse stolen. At the same time, the family gun goes missing. Worse, a 3 year old boy is shot with an unknown gun in the projects. Fortunately, the gun was hidden away by an unexpected member of the family and boy survived. Even during that morning, Thelma, the Evans' only teenage daughter, gets attacked and the policeman does nothing about it. I showed this episode on my last day of student teaching in Newark, New Jersey. My students live in the projects and these dangerous neighborhoods. Even all they go through, the Evans family remains intact until the network disables the family.
Another episode has Florida going for an operation but her husband wants her to have the best so he take her to a better hospital.
Another episode has a possible family separation when James Sr. takes a good-paying job in Alaska leaving his family behind in the projects, don't think that happens.
Of course, the politicians episode is worth remembering because of the politics and differences between a young promising politican who wants to make things better and the incumbent who continues to keep playing the same useless role while he vacations in Bermuda and buys his wife a mink coat.
Another episode has the Evans asking for assistance by Florida's wealthier cousins, Edgar and Betty. Sadly, times have fallen on them too.
The supporting cast features Janet Dubois who plays WIllona Woods, the Evans beloved friend and neighbor, a divorcee with no children of her own. Jimmie Walker Jr. is dynmite in his unforgettable role of James Evans Jr. or J.J. as an aspiring artist with a passion for the ladies. Bernadette Stanis is also terrific and under-rated as the butt of his many sibling jokes. Regardless of the jokes among the family members, you can tell that they still love each other. Of course, Ralph Carter plays Michael Evans, the youngest, outspoken, African American with some radical ideas of his own to help his community. You can't leave out the roles of John Amos and Esther ROlle as James and Florida Evans, the loving couple and parents. Despite their ups and downs, they remained a family. SAdly, it was the network that ruined a good thing.

Its like finding new episodes! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

These old Gunsmoke DVDs are great. Most of the shows we have never seen on TV since the powers to be seem only interested in showing the last couple of seasons. It is really neat to watch the characters evolve. Definitely recommend for any fans of Gunsmoke, or any old westerns for that matter.

Dodge City 5 out of 5 stars.

As with all episodes of the great western series they are good. They will hold your attention till the end. Good family viewing. Great actors. We just wish they would put Gunsmoke out season by season like other TV series.

Love it---ready for more volumes! 5 out of 5 stars.

I appreciate having the episodes of my old favorite TV series available for viewing. The Gunsmoke package is reasonably priced and the episodes are well chosen. Just like being back in the '60s. Good buy.

Editorial Review:

Marshall Matt Dillon is responsible for bringing law and respectability to the Dodge City in this western action-drama. The show still holds the record for being the longest running primetime drama series in television history.

in a nutshell 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My first and favourite series.
Have never been a fan of any series, but this one is hilarious, a really great plot with funny details and good humour.

Not just simply very stupid, like South Park, etc... but a bit more sophisticated.
These guys really have some humour.

Great DVD Release For God, The Devil And Bob! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

From creator Matthew Carlson comes this divine NBC primetime animated series. A short-lived series, to be sure, but "God, The Devil and Bob" was a well-written, keenly animated series, nonetheless, featuring the voice talents of James Garner ("The Rockford Files") as God, Alan Cumming ("X2: X-Men United") as The Devil, French Stewart ("3rd Rock From the Sun") as our "savior" Bob Allman, Laurie Metcalf ("Roseanne") as his wife Donna and Nancy Cartwright ("The Simpsons") as kids Megan and Andy.

Fans of the show will be pleased with this two-disc collector's edition, which comes with great extras. Chief among them is "Let There Be God, The Devil and Bob!" Making of God, The Devil and Bob featurette (23:00). Here the creators discuss everything you'd want to know about the show, from the pitch to NBC, the production schedule, how the voices were cast, to their final thoughts about the show's cancellation. Very informative and insightful, as are the audio commentaries on select episodes.

"God, The Devil and Bob Revealed" Character Interview featurette (4:00) is a humorous Q&A with the title characters. The menu is nicely designed with all 13 episodes set up with a sub-menu screen for smooth, problem-free navigation. First-rate treatment all around for this DVD collection.

Disc 1:
1. In the Beginning
2. Andy Runs Away
3. Date From Hell
4. The Devil's Birthday
5. Neighbor's Keeper
6. God's Favorite
7. Committed

Disc 2:
8. Lonely at the Top
9. Bob Gets Greedy'
10. There's Too Much Sex on Television
11. Bob's Father
12. God's Girlfriend
13. Bob Gets Involved

Editorial Review:

Frankly God expected more from humanity, and his patience is wearing a little thin. The Devil, on the other hand, is simply delighted. Together they have a plan: one man will be given a chance to prove whether or not mankind is worth saving. But there's just one catch... The Devil gets to pick him. Enter Bob — An ill-tempered, melodramatic, paranoid icon of mediocrity. Caught between the forces of divinity and deviance, with the weight of the world on his shoulders, there's nothing left to do but laugh.

I know this was said before... 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

But this is not for children!Take this advice to heart this is not anything like the Fox series with the exception of some characters.

Now on the actual review:

It is a great compilation of some of the greatest film parodies my favorites being Martian Serum Seven From Mars (Ed Wood),The Godpappy (The Godfather),Ya Know For Kids! (Fargo), Daddyhood (Eraserhead), and Dead Puppet Storage (Pulp Fiction).

Despite what many people think and as one reviewer put it just a pale shadow of the "original tv show". Actually IFC first came up with GTB and sold it to Fox then Fox tanked it and IFC brought it back...This actually has episodes of the Original show from IFC like the 13th step Blah and so forth.

All in all great DVD great show...the only reason I gave it a 4 was because they should've really put the 30 min. special where they brought the show back...the vegas comeback as I call it.

Editorial Review:

The IFC cult favorite finally arrives in a 2-DVD set containing 14 episodes of classic film parodies made by deranged puppets.

Fresh off the heels of his Fox sitcom, Greg gets back to his edgy IFC roots with old pals Warren the Ape, Count Blah and Seth Green for film parodies of some of Hollywood’s most classic films.

Watch as Greg tunes in, turns on and drops out in Sleazy Rider, Warren goes on a bloodthirsty rampage in Naturally Sewn Killers and Count Blah takes a bite out of crime in The Godpappy!

This is not the Fox sitcom. This is not for the family. This is the Greg The Bunny: Best Of The Film Parodies 2-DVD set: sex, violence and videotape. WARNING: Includes scenes of graphic violence, illegal drug use, nudity…and some puppet sex.

As seen on the Independent Film Channel from 1999-2000.

Special Features:

• 2 Featurettes
• Commentaries on all 14 episodes by show creators
• Deleted scenes
• Gag reel
• Photo galleries

They don't do TV like this anymore 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I really loved this show. They don't do television like this anymore. I don't care what anyone say, the 80's was the best decade for quality t.v. Things sorta went down hill after that. Gimme A Break is one of those shows that I loved and always will. I'm so glad they are going back into the archives and bringing back quality t.v shows like this. I plan to collect every season. Unfortunately, the late Nell Carter is no longer with us. If it weren't for her, this show wouldn't be worth seeing. I can still hear her amazing voice singing the theme song, "Gimme a break I sure deserve it." Boy those were the days!! Rest in peace Nell, finally you have been given a well deserved break.

Editorial Review:

NTSC/Region 1. Three DVD set containing the complete second season of this TV series starring Nell Carter. Gimme A Break was an '80s sitcom that helped to redifine family and television. This triple DVD set features all 22 episodes of the second season and features guest appearances from Don Rickles, Michael Dudikoff, The Pointer Sisters and other memorable moments. It's real. It's funny. It's real funny! VE. 2007. * Please note you will need a Multi-Region and/or a dual PAL/NTSC DVD player to view.

I found this video to be all that it was cracked up to be. Good quality considering the age of the show.

Editorial Review:

The George Burns & Gracie Allen show ran for most of the decade during the 1950s. This popular comedy series took place in the Burns home with George cast as the narrator and also straight man for Gracie. Fans were most appreciative of the infamous comic routines performed at the end of each show.
