Funny Show 4 out of 5 stars.

I waited for this shows price to be lowered before buying it. I purchased seasons one and two. It's funny and entertaining. Agon's my favorite character. Vincent Price, Don Rickles, were a few of the guest who appeared on the show. There's the clumpsy Captain, played by Ken Berry, who is helpless without his troops assisting him at times. The Sarge and Corporal Agon pretty much run the camp. The dealings with their Indian partners are funny to watch too. I don't remember the person's name who played the Chief, but he is hilarious. It's clean fun, which is almost non-existence these days.

Editorial Review:

Go west...and go loco. Yes, Captain Parmenter and his buffoons in blue are ready again to untame the wilderness in TV's wackiest Western spoof. Wrangler Jane still pines after Parmenter, the Hekawis still plot after profits and Sergeant O'Rourke and Corporal Agarn have more get-rich-quick schemes up their regimental sleeves. A plains-load of comic guest stars joins the fun, including Phil Harris as a 147-year-old Indian chief, Harvey Korman as a Prussian balloonist, Paul Lynde as a singing Mountie, Milton Berle as a flim-flam medicine man and Vincent Price as a spooky Transylvanian count. Enlist now for a second comedy tour: the out-of-its-mind and ahead-of-its-time 31-episode final season of F Troop!

This is where the sophisticated series gets started. It isn't quite at its best by this point, but the material is very funny indeed. Strongly recommended.

Dr. Crane, you have a call on line two... 5 out of 5 stars.

Fraiser is without a doubt one of the definitive sitcoms of modern television. Its blend of intelligence, humour, drama, love and life all mix together to create one awesome show! It is hilarious and in a very intelligent way; all the episodes are ingenious and well-crafted and all the characters are very interesting and are each essential to the show. Frasier, as the lead character, leads a life of interesting, hilarity, drama, and at times adventuruous oddity. Niles is the equally hilarious and brilliant brother who is absolutely in love with Daphne. Martin's the hard-nosed, retired father figure who, deep down, cares about his sons. Daphne's the British caretaker who always has a great quip to add. Roz is about as desparate as they come in terms of her love life, but she brightens the atmosphere with some very funny moments. And, Bulldog adds his hardcore self-pompous attitude that can be quite a scream! Plus, there's always something hysterical their dog Eddie does in every episode that just makes me belt out his name in laughter, "Eddieeeeeee!". Hahaha, a little tradition of mine while I watch Frasier.
In addition, the sound and picture quality of these DVDs is excellent, and it comes with some great extra features that offers even more bang for your buck. So don't miss out on the laughs, brilliance and depth that is Frasier! Thanks for the time, and peace.

Editorial Review:

Season One of FRASIER finds the recently divorced Boston psychiatrist, Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer), at a new place in his life. Last seen gracing the bars of Cheers, Frasier has a new life in his home town of Seattle as a popular radio psychiatrist, which has given him the chance to spread his words of wit and wisdom to the masses. Sharing an apartment with his ex-policeman father, Marty (Mahoney), and his father’s English physical care assistant Daphne (Leeves), Frasier must also cope with his psychiatrist brother Niles (Pierce) and Eddie the dog.

ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD! 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

When Futurama first came out, I was convinced it would never last. Unlike the Simpsons, Futurama makes you feel a bit like a moron when you watch it, with perpetual in-jokes to science fiction and fact that you may only catch years later. To my delight, Futurama had a very successful run.

One of the last episodes involved the Robot Devil, a favorite character of mine, and the burgeoning romantic subplot between Fry and Leela. Fry, having traded his hands in for the Robot Devil's hands so that he could play the hypnoflute ultimately has to give the hands back and the episode ends with a sweet but sad little tune imagining Fry and Leela together. Filled with clever banter, excellent music and choreography, plot twists, and a bittersweet ending, this was Futurama at its finest.

Bender's Big Score is not Futurama at its finest. All of those plots have been discarded.

Mind you, it's not bad. It's just not fantastic. Bender's Big Score is a series of muddled plot points, pointless cameos, and a lot of "hey, look, we gave you what you wanted!" fan service. It's great to have a DVD comeback of a great show, but I expected better from a feature-length movie. I mean, Internet scams? That's so ten years ago!

That said, I'm a huge fan of Hypnotoad. Twenty minutes of Hypnotoad. TWENTY. MINUTES. That's right, twenty glorious minutes of HYPNOTOAD. ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

So for that, it gets an extra star. But only because Hypnotoad compels me.

The magic continues 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This series picks up right where the show left off in season 1 with a whole lot more hilarity! The actors really seem to embrace their roles even more in this season, resulting in more realistic conversations and exchanges of insults. Of course, Will gets the upper hand, as he should! This DVD set is packaged in just a slightly different manner than the first, although its contents are similar. The menus are exactly the same (aside from the dance sequences shown beside the menu options). The "special features" (and I use that term reluctantly) are still found on the 4th disk. Unfortunately, one of the special features re-caps the highlights of the season and gives us "pop-up video"-style trivia about some of the actors, some of the jokes, and more. The other one shows bloopers from season 2. This would be awesome if they were different from the ones that run during the credits at the end of the show! But for the most part, they are not.

As far as the episodes themselves, they are high quality! Most of the jokes are clean but hilarious, although you may have your kids asking you questions about some of the "adult" content. Here are some of the episodes that highlight this wonderful season:

DID THE EARTH MOVE FOR YOU?: Will and his girlfriend get trapped in a room during an earthquake.
THE MOTHER OF ALL BATTLES: Will and Carlton try to help Ashley out with her bully problems at school.
GUESS WHO'S COMING TO MARRY?: One of Will's aunts causes a controversy in the family when she plans to marry a white guy.
SHE AIN'T HEAVY: Will finds the perfect woman - only problem: she's overweight.
CASED UP: Will finds himself in court when Hillary's boyfriend, an aspiring lawyer played by Malcolm Jamal Warner, sues him for damages to his car.
SOMETHING FOR NOTHING: Will wins $1,000 at a country club fundraiser but lands himself in trouble when he does not donate the money back to them.
CHRISTMAS SHOW: The Smith family ski trip ends up being not-so-merry when the family is robbed of all their possessions.
MY BROTHER'S KEEPER: Will learns a valuable lesson when his biggest basketball rival lives in the hood and struggles just to stay alive.
ILL WILL: Will winds up in the hospital with tonsilitis, and the Banks family worries that Geoffrey is writing down all their dirty secrets.
EYES ON THE PRIZE: Will has to choose between Jazz and Tyriq to be his partner on a TV game show.
BE MY BABY TONIGHT: Ashley asks Will about sex, which throws the entire family into a panic about her new boyfriend.
STRIP TEASE FOR TWO: Will and Carlton become male strippers to earn enough money to buy back Vivian's bracelet that they pawned off.

This season is filled with moments guaranteed to have you laughing out loud and quoting the lines to friends and family members. I highly recommend it!

Editorial Review:

Will Smith stars as a teenager from inner city Philadelphia who's sent to California to live with his wealthy relatives in the hopes that they will "straighten him out and teach him some good old-fashioned values. On Season 2, Bel-Air is starting to feel like the hood for Will. His Philly roots run deep, but even a street-smart rapper can wrap his mind around croissants and credit cards and his arms around upscale hotties. Guest stars include Queen Latifah, Milton Berle and Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Fresh Prince Is A Classic! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The Fresh Prince is a great tv series. It is meant to be a comedy that doesn't take itself seriously. Lots of overacting but it works for the way the show is designed. It does also have shows that are a bit more serious that are centered around moral situations. Will Smith made it to where he is today by refusing to use profanity and to be a positive role model. In the beginning of the series it is true that he acts like an idiot and very silly, but as the seasons goes on he evolves into a much more mature person but still with a sense of humour and laid back style.

With all the crappy tv on these days with violence and excessive sex, and stupid reality tv shows, it is reFreshing to have an alternative that still gives you a laugh without being over dramatic. We really don't have tv shows like this anymore. The show lasted over 4 seasons for a reason! I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who has never seen it before. I grew up watching this series as a kid, and to this day I still find it highly enjoyable!

This sit-com is perhaps the funniest, most well written, likeable TV show to come along since Hogan's Heroes. Like a well seasoned port, these "re-runs" are precisely aged and now fully ready to be enjoyed. I can't wait for the new season.

A+ 4 out of 5 stars.

Arguably the best series about college life ever made 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

For some reason American television has struggled when it comes to college. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, which portrayed high school life so vividly and powerfully, faltered somewhat as Buffy and Willow made the transition to UC-Sunnydale. And the show that perhaps emulated BUFFY's high school formula best, VERONICA MARS, also was less compelling once the scene shifted to undergraduate life (though in large part this might have been because of multiple restrictions the CW placed on Rob Thomas and Co., especially in making the series focus more on standalone episodes rather than very long arcs). I've only recently gone back and started watching FELICITY. I can confidently say that no show has ever depicted college life as convincingly or as well as it. I think THE GILMORE GIRLS comes a strong second, but most other shows either fail (A DIFFERENT WORLD) or use it as take off for other purposes (e.g., the funny but not particularly realistic UNDECLARED). [For the record, I have not seen GREEK.]

As is well known, FELICITY tells the story of Felicity Porter impulsively following Ben Covington, an unrequited high school crush, to NYU instead of Stanford after he writes a long entry into her high school annual. [I'm not certain that they ever actually state that the school is NYU. I am certain that they don't refer to it by name in the second half of Season One, but because I Netflixed this I don't have the early season discs to verify this one way or another. But it is clearly a major university set directly on Washington Square, which fits the bill.] I personally detested that initial premise, but it quickly moved on to transcend it by developing a strong cast of characters and exploring their life at college together. Much of the series revolves around Felicity's interaction with Ben, with whom she develops a close friendship (though the initial romantic underpinnings remain a subtext throughout Season One), and her increasing attraction to and complex relationship with her resident assistant Noel.

What I like about the show in Season One is how it -- for the most part -- avoids cliché in exploring college life. The last season arc dealing with Ben's gambling problem seemed forced and artificial, but otherwise most of the arcs seemed natural and organic with the rest of the narratives. There is also very real and believable character development throughout the season. Felicity and Ben and Noel and Julie and the others are different characters at the end of the season, which is always the mark of a good show (just as a lack of character development is the mark of a bad one). And most of the narratives are compelling and interesting, rarely resorting to melodrama. The show continually pulls you into its stories, so that by the end of the year you feel quite invested as Felicity sits in the taxi as it comes to an end, deciding whether she is going to take a road trip across America with one guy or fly to Berlin with another.

Any show whose title consists of a character's name sinks or swims depending on how well that character is portrayed. Luckily, the producers hit a home run in casting Keri Russell in the central role. She manages to play Felicity as both enormously likable if often believingly flawed. She often makes mistakes, but they are the kinds of mistakes that feel all too familiar. She is too surreally beautiful to be completely believable as someone who would experience unrequited love, but once you allow yourself to accept that initial premise, she is a wonderfully loveable yet vulnerable character. And has anyone in the history of TV had more beautiful hair than Keri Russell in Season One? Her cutting her hair in Season Two often shows up on lists with titles like, "Worst Mistakes in TV History."

I'm sorry that I didn't catch this when it first was aired, but at least we have the DVDs. I anxiously await viewing the rest of the series.

It's high school graduation day and from the moment shy, beautiful Felicity Porter asks handsome Ben Covington to sign her yearbook, the course of her life is changed forever.

Futur-larious! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Futurama is awesome! I love the way the writers think in terms of plot. The episodes are good on humor and twisting things and the series itself is actually an EXCELLENT commentary on history and the American society. The only thing I don't like about this series is that after awhile, the constant approach to humor that goes, "I'm saying one thing, then arbitrarily doing the exact opposite just for the hell of it!" gets a little old. There are plenty of times where it's quite effective, don't get me wrong, but when it's the main source of humor I get the feeling that they're dealing with writer's block. But, that's a minor point. If you like the Simpsons, if you don't like the Simpsons, who cares--this series is NOTHING like the Simpsons (even though the creator is the same as the one of the Simpsons).
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and buy this!

it's futurama! 5 out of 5 stars.

Season 1. there's not really a question. If you're an old school simpsons fan (seasons 3-8 are pure gold) then you have no reason for not enjoying futurama, which was created and written by many of the same people from that era.

He's taken some of the best of Stewie's antics from the popular Fox cartoon, added a few unseen gems, & has come up with an all Stewie review! Join Stewie on a series of wild adventures as he tries to 'find' himself. He also finds numerous pitfalls along the way, pits that only Stewie can fall into. A hilariously good time for all "Family Guy" fans!

In this exclusive 88 minute DVD premiere, featuring brand new, never before seen content, Stewie, the maniacal baby genius, is distracted from his plans for world domination when he sees a man who looks just like him on television. Convinced that this man must be his real father (after all, how could he possibly share genetic material with the dimwitted Peter?), Stewie sets off on a cross-country road trip to find him. But his incredible journey leads him to discoveries far more vile and shocking that anything found in his diaper.

A strong second season for an excellent show 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Many here have stated that they believe that FELICITY Season Two is the show's best season. I personally am not quite in synch with that opinion. I think the first half of Season Two is a bit flat, and some of the episodes just drift, but it rebounds in a big way in the second half of the season. Primarily this is because it is only in the second half of the season that the bombs start dropping, from the marital problems facing Felicity's parents, to Ruby's unexpected pregnancy (and the even more unexpected revelation about who the father is), to the increasing complexity of Felicity and Ben's relationship. The first half of the season is just slow to get off the ground and even then is marred by Felicity's unconvincing relationship with the grad student David.

Season Two is also when tragedy struck. Keri Russell cut her hair. Many actually blame the steep Season Two decline in ratings to The Haircut, though this was more likely due to a change in scheduling (history has shown repeatedly that if you want to kill a show, just keep moving it around, unless it is a megahit with a huge cadre of dedicated fans like LOST). Nonetheless, Felicity's hair cut often makes various web lists of "Biggest Mistakes in TV HIstory." Fan response to her shorn locks was so negative that the show itself makes numerous jokes about it. The hair would grow out in subsequent seasons.

One of the reasons for FELICITY's success as a long series was the willingness of the producers to bring in new characters. Some are less successful than others, but some are wonderful additions and are missed when they depart the show. Amy Smart, an actress I've enjoyed in everything I've seen her in, was especially likable in Season Two as Noel's love interest. Donald Faison -- well before he was on the staff of Sacred Heart on SCRUBS -- joins the show in the second half of the season as Elena's love interest. And Amanda Foreman's role as Felicity's bizarre roommate Meghan was expanded (there was also an episode in which Kevin Weisman played a friend of hers -- in ALIAS they would be married and have a child)

Speaking of SCRUB's, it is fascinating how many actors who appeared on FELICITY later appeared on that comedy. Keri Russell herself appeared as a guest star, while Donald Faison, of course, is one of the two male leads. Scott Foley had a major recurring role as Elliott's love interest. Amy Smart had a brief but memorable run as a love interest for JD (her character is best captured in the title of one of her episodes, "My Drama Queen").

The one thing that hurts FELICITY -- as well as nearly every show made in the past 20 years -- has been the widespread and nearly universal conviction in the television industry that while fans love to watch the unfolding of potential romance, they are not interested in fulfilled, ongoing romance, As a result, the challenge is always to invent ways of keeping couples apart rather than their staying together. So on LOST Sawyer is used to keep Jack and Kate apart (and then later baby Aaron). Endless difficulties were introduced to keep Clark and Lana from being a happy couple on SMALLVILLE. The best ever device for keeping a romantic couple apart is surely Angel's curse on BUFFY (though that is rivaled by the tragedy on PUSHING DAISIES that if Ned ever touches Chuck, she'll die, again, forever). In Season One of FELICITY Noel was introduced as a way of keeping Felicity and Ben apart, only to have Ben brought back into the picture late to keep Felicity and Noel apart. By the end of Season Two you pretty much have it figured out that if two people finally manage to get together, bad times are definitely ahead. Only a couple of shows have tried to show major couples together. Seth and Summer were a couple for an unusual amount of time on THE O.C., perhaps because their dynamics made them unsuitable for one another on paper. And in Season Three of THE OFFICE, Pam and Jim managed to have an adorable relationship. Personally, I would like to see more shows take up the challenge of making a successful relationship interesting. I'll close by acknowledging that the reason why producers and writers are terrified of getting romantic couples together is the MOONLIGHTING problem. That show was remarkably successful as long as Dave and Maddie were a potential couple. As soon as they slept together, however, ratings plummetted (though I personally wonder if the decline in writing and the persistent problem in producing new episodes wasn't more to blame).
