GET THIS MOVIE!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is my favorite movie in the Futurama series, by far. The first one sucked, the second one was good, but this recent installment was hilariously awesome and just the BEST!! The artistry was very precise, which made the movie that much better.

I pre-ordered this movie and I am so glad that I did. When I saw that movie on my doorstep, my husband wanted us to wait until we moved into our new home to watch it - we saw it that very same day. I have seen this movie almost ten times and I got it on November 5th! This is a movie that will DEFINITELY not disappoint!!!!

Lord of the Futurama Movies 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The first one tried to tie the storyline together, but became too entangled in its own explanation. The second one was a story of morals and experimentation that went where no Futurama episode had gone and should go again.

This third Futurama movie finally delivers what I think fans of the series have been waiting for: a Futurama movie which works like an extended Futurama episode (a la Season 5). Without too much explanation, without a contrived message, a fun, light, yet substance filled Futurama installment that can be watched over and over again.

a disappointing waste of time and money 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I used to really enjoy Family guy, but in all honesty, I think I've just lost interest, or at least I've outgrown its more recent style of humor. I don't mind the half season DVDs; that's just the way it is, and if you're a fan, you'll suck it up and buy it regardless. I do wish that I would have bought this at amazon rather than paying $12 more for it locally, however. I really liked volumes 1 and 2 of this show; Volumes 3 and 4 were still quite enjoyable, although the anti-Christian and, to a lesser extent, the anti-Bush things were beginning to bother me a little. Even volume 5 was mostly OK; The coolwhip bit will absolutely never get old for me, and I got a real kick out of watching the anamatic episodes.
This brings me to Volume 6. Even though I've primarily been into watching my ever-growing collection of British DVDs lately, I popped the first disc of Family Guy Volume 6 into the DVD player almost as soon as I got it home. Ever since Volume 3, I've always gone for watching the commentary tracks first; even though they're somewhat offensive in places, I've more often than not found them to be both humorous and informative. I didn't even make it off the first disc this time. Maybe I was just in the wrong frame of mind, or perhaps I've just become too accustomed to the practicly wholesome nature, at least when compared with these most recent episodes of Family Guy, to British TV shows.
Whatever the reason, I just couldn't bring myself to watch past the 3rd or 4th episode of Family Guy Volume 6.
I know I'll probably get negative feedback for this review, but even though I am a concervative Christian, I like to think I have a good sense of humor. I don't like profanity, but can handle it in small amounts if necessary.
The things I don't like about family guy these days are the changes several other people have mentioned regarding Stewie.
More than that, though, I don't like the character of Herbert; that character is creepy, not at all funny, and should have never become such a regular. The other thing that really bothers me is that Brian dates human women. He's supposed to be a dog! Also, at least so far as I can tell, Brian seems to be primarily responsible for a lot of the anti-Christian and anti-Bush remarks that seem to be dominating the show recently.
Bottom line, I got this volume of Family Guy to keep my collection complete, but I wish that I would have waited to buy it when I could have gotten it much cheaper. For the time being, however, I believe that my money would have been much better if saved up and put towards completing either my Hugh Laurie or David Jason DVD collections.

Editorial Review:

As the 2005 theatrical release of Serenity made clear, Firefly was a science fiction concept that deserved a second chance. Devoted fans (or "Browncoats") knew it all along, and with this well-packaged DVD set, those who missed the show's original broadcasts can see what they missed. Creator Joss Whedon's ambitious science-fiction Western (Whedon's third series after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel) was canceled after only 11 of these 14 episodes had aired on the Fox network, but history has proven that its demise was woefully premature. Whedon's generic hybrid got off to a shaky start when network executives demanded an action-packed one-hour premiere ("The Train Job"); in hindsight the intended two-hour pilot (also titled "Serenity," and oddly enough, the final episode aired) provides a better introduction to the show's concept and splendid ensemble cast. Obsessive fans can debate the quirky logic of combining spaceships with direct parallels to frontier America (it's 500 years in the future, and embattled humankind has expanded into the galaxy, where undeveloped "outer rim" planets struggle with the equivalent of Old West accommodations), but Whedon and his gifted co-writers and directors make it work, at least well enough to fashion a credible context from the incongruous culture-clashing of past, present, and future technologies, along with a polyglot language (the result of two dominant superpowers) that combines English with an abundance of Chinese slang.

What makes it work is Whedon's delightfully well-chosen cast and their nine well-developed characters--a typically Whedon-esque extended family--each providing a unique perspective on their adventures aboard Serenity, the junky but beloved "Firefly-class" starship they call home. As a veteran of the disadvantaged Independent faction's war against the all-powerful planetary Alliance (think of it as Underdogs vs. Overlords), Serenity captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) leads his compact crew on a quest for survival. They're renegades with an amoral agenda, taking any job that pays well, but Firefly's complex tapestry of right and wrong (and peace vs. violence) is richer and deeper than it first appears. Tantalizing clues about Blue Sun (an insidious mega-corporation with a mysteriously evil agenda), its ties to the Alliance, and the traumatizing use of Serenity's resident stowaway (Summer Glau) as a guinea pig in the development of advanced warfare were clear indications Firefly was heading for exciting revelations that were precluded by the series' cancellation. Fortunately, the big-screen Serenity (which can be enjoyed independently of the series) ensured that Whedon's wild extraterrestrial west had not seen its final sunset. Its very existence confirms that these 14 episodes (and enjoyable bonus features) will endure as irrefutable proof Fox made a glaring mistake in canceling the series. --Jeff Shannon

Great show! Really funny!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I loved this show but kept missing it on HBO so I was really happy when I saw it on sale on Amazon.
This show is very funny but I also realize that it's humor may not appeal to everyone.
And the songs were great.

Sweet 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've watched most episodes at least 3 times, and they aren't getting old. Although it's nothing like The Office, I've noticed that the people who liked that show have liked this one as well. Stella, and Freaks and Geeks as well.

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS RULES!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I admit it, I have fallen under the spell of Flight of the Conchords. Their brand of humor, self deprecating and rediculous lifts my spirits. In these crazy days a little silliness goes a LOOOOONG way with me. I love these guys so much that I bought this dvd for my sister for her birthday and she said she laughed her a@@ off. These New Zealand guys rock the party.

Flight of the Kings! 5 out of 5 stars.

These guys are just classic funny. Subtle, but funny.
Great session 1, I really hope they make a second session.
No bonus stuff on the DVD which was kind of disappointing.

A favorite, and a tragedy... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I've been a long-time sci-fi fan, from Star Trek to Farscape, but Firefly stands out as one of my very favorites. The tragedy is that it was cancelled by Fox way before it's time. I believe Fox made a huge error in judgement, taking what could have been the next sci-fi classic of X-Files proportions, and throwing it to the wind. Thankfully, the movie "Serenity" gave us some kind of conlusion, yet I can't help but miss all the great stories that could-have-been between the TV series and the movie. So, it will stand as one of my favorites, but that will always come with a touch of frustration that it could have been so much more.

Great series 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The series is great. The DVD's themselves and the boxes look suspiciously cheaply printed and made but the series itself is great. The company I bought it from shipped the set poorly and the case was completely bent up and several DVD's had slipped in their cases and were sliding around loose, a few minor scratches didn't hurt it though.

Editorial Review:

At once a merciless skewering of all things fanboy and an extremely satisfying addition to the Futurama franchise, Bender's Game is among the best of the animated series' feature length adventures. The game in question is Dungeons and Dragons, and Bender wants in--only robots aren't programmed with the necessary imagination. Naturally, Bender's plans to develop one go completely awry and land him in an android asylum. The role-playing plotline later re-emerges--in typically convoluted Futurama fashion--via a subplot involving Professor Farnsworth's conversion of dark matter into spaceship fuel, which created a key to a very D&D-influenced universe where our hapless heroes eventually find themselves. The alternate world storyline allows for much lampooning of fantasy tropes, with Lord of the Rings receiving the lion's share of the tweaks. Seeing as how the writers have already devoted much of the movie's running time to parodying Star Wars and Star Trek (and their Lego offshoots), one might think that Bender's Game might suffer from pop-culture overload, but surprisingly, it all feels fresh and frequently funny, and the writers are wise to ground the story in their eccentric characters rather than pinballing them through an endless string of gags. The result is probably the strongest of the direct-to-DVD Futurama releases to date, and one that newcomers to the show's cracked universe can appreciate as much as longtime fans.As with previous Futurama DVD releases, the extras come fast and furious on Bender's Game: commentary by members of the cast and production team (including Matt Groening) is both informative and funny, while interviews with the writers and producers discuss, among other topics, the influence of Dungeons and Dragons on the series and the 3D models used in the feature. Aspiring animators might appreciate "How To Draw Futurama in 83 Easy Steps and the storyboard animatic for the first part of the story, while the "Genetics Lab" feature allows for some amusing Dr. Moreau-style cross-breeding of the characters. Recording session bloopers and a deleted scene offer their own laughs, but the most enjoyable extra must be the preview for the next Futurama feature, Into the Wild Green Yonder, which suggests a shocking development for one of the show's regulars. -- Paul Gaita

I absolutely love this series. I bought Season 1 & 2 together without even seeing an episode (as it's only aired in Australia on cable) and I'm glad I did!!! Now I have to wait a while for the next season.

Don't Worry! It Recovers Halfway Into the Season! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

In a nutshell, yes: season 2 starts out shaky with an awfully dark startup to where we left off, and as has been mentioned frequently, some absurd subplots, most notably the murder and the highly doubtful subsequent relationship that results (really? Those two would actually end up together)?

However, by disc 3 that is more or less wrapped up (although not some of the other silly subplots) and FNL gets back to why you loved it in the first place. And make no mistake, there are some killer episodes here, and some huge LAUGHS--people forget how funny this show can be sometimes. Peter Berg's cameo is hysterical, because you just know where that's heading.

Sadly, everything just... ends. Leaving the doors wide-open for a season three, but there is no official "finale." I didn't even know that I was done with the season until I read here that it's only four discs long (I'm renting them).

But if you liked the first season, stick it out: halfway through it's back to form. And "Who Do You Think You Are?" stands out as a classic episode, along with, as always, the great music and music montages.

I was not disappointed at all, after passing through some questionable early episodes. Viva season 3!

Never Gets Old 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Fawlty Towers is one of those British sitcoms that although they haven't a high number of episodes, the quality alone is something to make it a timeless classic. I think the high number of people who wil gladly vouch for how good this sitcom is only expresses the true quality of the comedy and the cast involved. The characters are well defined and the setting is utilised to its full potential. Only 13 episodes were made but managed to gain such a cult following, those 13 episodes were just enough to keep the likes of Basil Fawlty a household name for over 30 years. Only the likes of Del Boy and Rodney have gained such a heightened level of comedic status.

The story is simple, Fawlty Towers is a hotel owned and managed by Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) and his wife sybil (Prunella Scales). Basil is supported by his hotel cleaner and waitress Polly (Connie Booth) and his bellboy and waiter Manuel (Andrew Sachs). The cast blend together brilliantly and have given us some of the funniest TV moments we're ever likely to see in our lifetime. Basil is the typical stressed out middle aged man, he goes on by letting lifes little troubles ware him down. He constantly tries to be the man about the hotel but constantly has his masculinity taken away from him by the scorn of Sybil.

John Cleese has always been a man I've considered as one of my idols, and this sitcom is the reason behind that. The comedy may be very slapstick, politically incorrect and at times very childish. I can't explain it but it all just seems to work in a way that will have you in fits of laughter no matter how many times you watch. The character of Basil is shockingly brilliant, I don't think anyone else could have played the character to such a level like John Cleese has. He is over the top, slick, stupid and physically funny. One of the best episodes that shows Cleese's physical prowess when playing this role is the infamous episode "The Germans" which spawned the line "Don't mention the war." The Hitler impression is something to be witnessed and regardless of whether you find things like that offensive or not, you just have to laugh.

Basil Fawlty is everything we find funny about people who lose their temper. He has his moments of trying to hide such terrible situations from his wife, but because of those attempts at hiding the problems he only manages to make them worse. The best example of this is when Sybil wants some building work done on the hotel, she wants to use a well respected but expensive builder. He wants to have a friend to do it on the cheap but he is anything but respectful. While Sybil is away for a weekend, Basil goes against her wishes and has his friend do it with disastrous consequences. What follows is a hysterical attempt at hiding the tragic building work from his wife by trying to keep her out of the hotel.

It's a fantastic series and I could honestly go on talking about it forever. I have nothing but good things to say about every cast member and their respective characters. John Cleese is a legend and he is one of a kind, he made the character his own and would have been something nobody else could have done. I would recommend this set to anyone with even a decent sense of humour.

These seasons were terrible 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I like Family Guy and apparently so does America since Seth was just signed for a pile of money throughout 2012. Honestly these first seasons are absolutely terrible, these seasons illustrate how they were trying to borrow from the Simpsons too heavily and not very good at it as well. It was only after they found what works for them (cheap cude and over the top) and flash backs later on which make them worth watching. I suggest to skip these first few seasons as they add little to the plot and really make for some aweful comedy.

I cry from laughing so hard 5 out of 5 stars.

I wish people would just enjoy the show for what it is instead of bashing it on here. If (in my opinion) you want to comment on it say something positive not negative. THere's enough negative crap in the world as it is. Sure every show and movie out there has flaws. Nobody is perfect. You know there is a button on your t.v. remote that says on/off you know. Stewie is my fave character! I got the family guy bendable set and a Stewie plush animated doll. HILARIOUS!!! SOmeone always comments on it when new people come over. You know they should make a movie: "Chucky vs. Stewie"! That would've been better I believe than the "Seed of CHucky". THink about it, there both bout the same size and both have overalls. Hmmmm. What you all think? Just a idea. I got a few Chucky dolls from 12" to 30" too. That Stewie Halloween costume is cool too!
