America's Favorite Serial Killer 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 12 people found this review helpful.

This is one of the most fascinating, addictive, and entertaining shows to ever grace the TV palette. Michael C. Hall's impersonation of Dexter Morgan is absolutely uncanny; he is dark, charismatic, mysterious and extremely unsettling. This is truly an exceptional character; a sociopath with a conscience. You have to see to understand how exquisite this show is - a new depth added to an on-screen personality development.

Bloody Good Fun 4 out of 5 stars.

Very interesting show about a forensic blood specialist with some secret extracirricular activities. Michael C. Hall is brilliant as Dexter Morgan, a sociopath with a conscience. A killer with a code. The writing is very clear and sharp, and the supporting cast is perfect.

Dark Dexter..... 5 out of 5 stars.

As people before me have stated about how good this show is, I'll talk about that briefly. Dexter Morgan is a blood splatter analyst for Miami PD. He goes to crime scenes and deciphers the blood for the cops. He is not a cop however. The twist of the thing is is that Dexter himself is a serial killer. However unlike traditional serial killers, Dexter only kills those that have "beaten the system." It's a good take on everything. Good ethical consideration here. The series is a 5/5.

Now onto the actual blu-ray. The video is stunning. Amazing colors (I've never seen Ocean Drive look any better.) The audio is what you'd expect; Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Really though, this series does not rely on sound to make it stand out. The reds are the colors that are really vibrant here. As far as the extras go-it's got the same extras as the standard DVD release as well as the first episode of season 3 as well as a few other promos for showtime shows.

On the whole, this series as well as the transfer is amazing.

Very well put together series 5 out of 5 stars.

We have all seasons of Deadwood. It is a very good series. Sometimes the action got a wee bit rough for me and the language is very salty. It is truly worth seeing. The acting is very good as is the scenery. They apparently tried to stay really in that era and succeeded very well. So far we have watched the series through twice and enjoyed it each time.

drama, drama 4 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed the drama of this season. I can't say enough about the intelligent, multi-dimensional writing. Good amount of extras though I would have liked a few more. The commentary was fun to listen to. I have to say that I'd probably never let anyone borrow my Deadwood DVDs. I was able to get all 3 seasons for a little over $100. A fantastic deal for a fantastic show.

Deadwood, The second season 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a really in depth series. The story line, although enjoyable as is, can not really be appreciated without watching the first season. The writing is excellent and the acting is very good. There were a few slow parts to this season and the story would not be complete without them. However, the season finale more than made up for those slow parts. My wife and I look forward to viewing the third season very soon.

Still great and deadly!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Desperate housewives season 2 was as good, if not better than the original. I must admit that while I was a fan of the the first season it never truly captivated me in anyway. This season did. I think the reason for that was due to a stronger story and range of characters.
I loved Bree in this season, which is not what i found in the first season. Her breavement and conflicts with her son and her internal struggles make her a more rounded out and flawed character. Until she finally cracks (which lets face it, we knew was gonna happen soon.)
Also the character of Gabby was given more to do in this season. As opposed to her just sleeping with her gardener and trying to hide it from her increasly annoying husband.
Lynett's story was also better in this season. I just could not relate to her in the first season. the choices she makes and the situations she puts herself in. And i have kids so i know what being a parent is but still! In this season however she seemed more interesting. Though however I wish she would stop having her silly little fights with her husband and get her own life.
Susan...Susan has always been hard for me to like. In the first season I thought she was OK at first, but after a while down right annoying. In this season she improves a little though she is still just as insane and is still rivalling Carrie Bradshaw!
Another pleasure of this season was the story involving the Applewhites. I found it ten times more interesting than the previous, though the actual mystery could be gathered pretty quickly in this season a few episodes in, unlike the the first season's which kept you guessing right till the last episode. I also loved the Betty character, but i wish she had more screen time and more background. i was horrifed when there were whole episodes going by and she didnt even feature!!!
Wats that all about?
I wish she hadnt exited the show at the end of the season but hopefully she will make a reappearance in a future season.
I also loved the fact that Mary-Alice barely featured in this season
(apart from her poisoned honey narration). She truly was the most boring and unengaging character on the show.
An annoyance of mine of this season was the fact that Edie, the Samantha Jones of the show (though no where near as cool and clever) was still feeling like a secondary character. Barely in an episode, going some without even making an appearance. They should bring her forward and give her more to do apart from her tedious battles with Susan which she always loses. Another factor that brought this season down was the fact that the main mystery, though revealed to the audience quite early on was only touched upon and noticed by the main charcters nearly half way through the season! Making the mystery itself seem dull and prolonged by the end of the season due to the fact that we the viewers already know or have guessed the stuff they are discovering in the second leg of the season. Whereas the first season, we the viewers were taken on a journey with the characters and were discovering things with them. And the final thing that annoyed me about this season was the loss of some great characters. The Applewhites, Felicia Tilman, Justin and George Williams.
But apart from my few dislikes of this season, like i said. this season i felt was better than the First. Heres hoping the Third maintains this.

Good little episode 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is one of the good small adventures fit for both adults and kids. It's similar to the key to time adventure. A must have for Doctor Who fans. I love the animation and I enjoyed that they animated the title sequence. I'm happy that the same actors came back to do the voices and Anthony Head makes a brilliant villain.

Ho Hum 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I can imagine where this would have been a good idea back in 1978. Back when Tom Baker was the Doctor and the show was very set-bound and claustrophobic, an animated adventure would have permitted epic landscapes and casts of thousands which would have been beyond the scope of the live-action series. But now, when cinematic production values can be had for relatively modest budgets, I watch this adventure, and my reaction is to shrug.

This piece is up to the par of mini-episodes which used to appear on the BBC website and had to be limited to a downloadable file size. It makes no use of the capabilities of DVD. Sound is pitched at more or less the same level, without regard for story quality. The sound designers should spend some time watching Wall-E to see how a genius like Ben Burtt can make a vast soundscape with a Macintosh and a simple mike rig.

The story is also very choppy, probably because it was first broadcast in three-minute increments. But the net result is a story of such rapid peaks and troughs that I fear getting whiplash trying to follow the narrative. On consideration it's merely cute, nothing more.

I can see where this might be fun for kids. Really small kids. Especially since the actual show has gotten so dark that it may rattle too many little squirts, something cute and frothy might be up their street. But all I can bring myself to say is that it's adequate--and that's not good enough to justify ten dollars of your entertainment budget.

Good season 5 out of 5 stars.

This season of the Desperate Housewives was a lot of fun - much, much better than the second season.

Just as good as Season 1 and 2! 5 out of 5 stars.

What else can I say. If you liked the first two seasons, don't miss this one! It will make you laugh, cry, and wonder...

Desperate to see more..... 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The actors have kept this fresh and interesting...or more properly should I say the writers have? Let's just say it is both. The intrigue is just campy enough to keep you wanting another episode, and oh, they tried another male actor for a narrator and it falls flat. (We need that friend who "offed" herself as the narrator for continuity).
I will anxiously await and definitely purchase the next season.

Great service, great series 4 out of 5 stars.

You get what you pay for... 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I think it was my grandfather who always used to tell me that you get what you pay for. That pithy proverb was never more true than when it comes to Echo Bridge Home Entertainment's Due South DVD collection.

I want to echo what others have said here. Yes, the price for the complete collection is right but with the price comes poor packaging (I have received two of the complete collections--a set and a replacement for the damaged set--and in both the first disc in set came off the spindle), scratched DVDs (in the two sets about 1/4 of the discs were scratched and looked used), poor picture quality (too many episodes squeezed on to too few discs still it could be far worse), video stops and starts, audio dropouts, and horizontal lines in the picture frame at one point.

If you like this series as I do and you have an all-region DVD player and the money go for the Network box set from the UK. The picture quality is far superior and so is the packaging. I have also heard excellent things about the French TF1 releases that have come out thus far.

By the way I bought one of the multi volume sets at a local grocery store that will remain nameless (season one, volume 1). It contained two discs and both were in much better physical shape than the discs in the complete collection. They also cost more ($5.95).

Three Complete Seasons of the Hit Comedy Series!
Due South is a lightning-paced action / comedy in which a quintessential, polite, by-the-book Canadian Mountie from the frozen North is teamed up with a wise-cracking Armani-clad Chicago cop with a flexible sense of morality. Brought together in the Windy City by a mysterious murder which has personal ramifications for both men, these unlikely buddies must find a common ground amidst overwhelming differences.

Life Lessons with Scales 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Dinosaurs as a show was extraordinary in confonting some important (and occassionally off-beat) issues in a format that allowed both adults, and kids, to look at the world around them in a different way.

Now, the DVD package itself is pretty good in design. The only issue that came up for me was how the discs were stacked. They're stacked 2 per side, which normally isn't a problem, but, at least with my case, the discs didn't stay put much. Even though I save the DVD cases and use soft-cases for all my discs, I find that loose discs can sometimes be a nightmare during shipping, but my DVDs didn't suffer any damage.

The DVD menu leaves a little to be desired, but at the same time, it ensures that there isn't a huge technological gap between the TV-to-DVD conversion of the content with the menu.

Overall, the case is great, the shows are perfectly migraded to digital format, and the content is just as meaningful as it was when the show first aired. An easy 4 stars, I give it 5 for the excellent transition to DVD.

If you enjoyed the show, or are interested for the first time, you won't be disappointed.

DEAD ZONE SEASON 4 I AM VERY HAPPY WITH ALL MY DVDS I HAVE RECIVED FROM AMAZON IT HAS BEEN THE BEST MOVIE SITE I HAVE FOUND

Dead Zone gets better 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

OK not everybody is a dead zone fan. I am. I don't like the relationship between Johnny and Sarah. I grow weary of the Stilson storyline and especially the X-Files treatment of it. I guess the writers can go there whenever their creativity takes a break. That said I really liked season 4. Johnny meets a girl psychic, a good episode, and it closes with a bonus Christmas Episode that is my ALL TIME favorite episode of Dead Zone. This season is worth it for any Dead Zone fan, and is a MUST for a serious fan.

Episodes are good - but DVD has manufacturing flaw... 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I bought this series soon after it came out, but am just watching it now. It seems whoever manufactured this season's DVD set goofed. When you go to Select Episode (which is what I always do, since I watch one here and there). The list of available episodes is only TWO (although there are FOUR on the DVD). I can see absolutely no way to access the other two episodes unless I go to PLAY ALL and then fast forward (which might not work on all DVD players) to the episode I wish to view. It's really inconvenient. I just thought I'd warn you. But yes - I'd still buy it - I enjoy The Dead Zone episodes, although I like the "threads" to surface in the stories more frequently.

Early Doctor Who 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Smith, the Daleks, et.al. have become my favorite weekend fare. In the interests of finding out where it all started I purchased a DVD set of the first Doctor Who stories. I was not disappointed. What has always fascinated me about the Doctor Who series is that all the stories are interrelated and each episode has at least one tidbit that serves to knit the tales together. The question of why the Tardis always looks like a police call box is neatly answered in the original Doctor Who. I love it!

The Beginning of a Legend 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

These are the very first three adventures of the Doctor, witch aired all the way back in 1963 as such some elements are completely and totally out dated but one thing remains the FUN! It's three fun adventures that are very different in style to the modren adventures, there are a total of 13 episodes plus one unaired pilot, and more then enough interveiws to keep you happy. If you can enjoy these oldies then go for it! However if you need the latest and newest these adventures will bore you. For thoses intreasted the second serial in this collection includes the first apperence of the Daleks.

Good movie series. It is exciting and has good plots. I give it only 4 stars because it only has 12 episodes to the season. Most of the stories stand alone but also inter twine with each other in an abstract way. It is best viewed in order. Some of the stories make you think about our government and is this really happening in our day, and make you wonder,or just plain nervous. Some just make you tear up with joy.
