Ye Ha, The Good Ole Boys are Back 5 out of 5 stars.

I think too much was made of the confederate symbol on the General Lee in the new movie. The Dukes of Hazzard was a simple, good natured show, funny, and I'm sure nothing was meant by using the symbol and didn't have anything to do with slavery and blacks. The characters were great and well acted, and the stunt driving was awesome and still stands up today.

Great Buy 5 out of 5 stars.

Like all the other seasons of "The Dukes of Hazzard" this one is just pure entertainment at its best. These lovable characters with their exiting adventures, that awesome car and the humour make this TV show to something very special. It's a must see although I really miss Bo and Luke.Coy and Vance just can't reach them and I was so glad when the two good ol' boys finally returned.
I only hope that the two reunion movies will also be released on DVD very soon, because I just can't get enough of "The Dukes of Hazzard".
A tip for all people who loves the show as much as I do:If you really are a fan of the original TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard" than go and watch John 'Bo Duke` Schneider`s new movie "Collier & Co - Hot Pursuit" which is currently running in a couple of cinemas for only a short time. It's not called "The Dukes" but it has humour,an awesome '69 Dodge Charger, really hot car stuff, brain and heart and it's entertainment at its best. You'll love it!!!

I remember this show from my early years in college, and would always watch it if I did not have class or work. It was awesome to see this show, and see how two such different people fell in love with one another, and learned valuable lessons from eachother (and the same could be said about their parents!) I am wishing that a box set will be made of the whole series. That'd totally make our day, amirite?

Editorial Review:

When free-spirited yoga instructor Dharma Finkelstein meets conservative attorney Greg Montgomery, it's love at first sight. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no love in the air when Dharma's hippie parents and Greg's blue-blood establishment parents finally meet after their children have already married at a drive-thru chapel in Reno. With friends and family all suggesting that a quick annulment would be best, it's no surprise that the couple begins to second-guess their impulsive nuptials. But it's soon evident that nothing can stand in the way of true love!

Editorial Review:

THE FIVE DOCTORS - "I am being diminished, whittled away piece by piece. A man is the sum of his memories you know, a Time Lord even more so." Someone is taking the Doctor's past selves out of time and space, placing in a vast wilderness - a battle arena with a sinister tower at its center. As the various incarnations of the Doctor join forces, they learn they are in the Death Zone on their home world of Gallifrey, fighting Daleks, Cybermen, Yeti - and a devious Time Lord Traitor who is using the Doctor and his companions to discover the ancient secrets of Rassilon, the first and most powerful ruler of Gallifrey. The Five Doctors was originally broadcast to celebrate the Twentieth Anniversary of Doctor Who in 1983. This new version of the story features extended scenes, previously unseen sequences, new visual effects and a stereo soundtrack. Not intended as a replacement for the original edition of the story, this is an alternative version which uses state-of-the-art technology to embellish and enlarge one of the greatest Doctor Who adventures ever.
THE KING'S DEMONS - "We sing in praise of total war; against the Saracen we abhor" It is thirteenth century England, and King John is visiting the castle stronghold of Sir Ranulf Fitzwilliam. Ranulf's personal fortune has dwindled away, freely donated to Kin John to help fund the Crusade. While staying with Ranulf, the King's greed is criticized by the baron's head-strong son, Hugh. As a result, Hugh is challenged to a duel by the monarch's enigmatic French Knight-at-Arms, Sir Giles Estram, a duel the young Englishman has little hope of surviving. When the TARDIS materializes and disturbs the joust, the Doctor's party are proclaimed friendly demons by the King, who seems strangely interested in their "blue engine." Before long the Doctor becomes embroiled in court politics, and he realizes that there is far more to the situation than a simple battle of honor between nobles.

A couple of amateurish flaws don't even come close to bringing this show down. 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Damages is, in a sentence, fully worth your attention if you enjoy a good drama.
That being said, it has a few minor flaws. The "flash-forwards" that pepper the entire season up until the finale are stylized to a point that's dangerously close to ridiculous. If you're used to the kind of "intense" close-ups and quick cuts that shows like CSI utilize and enjoy them, this won't be a problem, but if you're one who enjoys substance over style, it can get slightly grating. For almost the entire first half of the season, these scenes leak irritatingly little information to intrigue, and I felt like the show was carrot-dangling instead of tossing me little bits to interest me further.
Aside from that, there are a few plot points that feel like a bit of a stretch. However, this is a show that thrives on the unexpected, and I won't get into specifics so as to not spoil the fun. That, and they're negligible when compared to the rest of the show.

The show mainly follows Ellen Parsons, a young lawyer who gets hired by Patricia Hewes, a prosecutor notorious for being ruthlessly effective. Hewes' firm is handling the case of Arthur Frobisher, a multi-billionaire pressed with charges similar to the Enron case a few years back (falsified financial reports, dumped stock, thousands of employees' savings and retirement plans gone, etc.). Without getting into details, the only other important thing to mention is that Parsons is engaged.
Glenn Close's performance as Hewes is sharp and convincing, and Ted Danson (who most people seem to have forgotten after Cheers) delivers a surprisingly compelling performance as Frobisher. The majority of other actors around them are very well-picked, and although generally not well-known, keep pace with the headliners.
The acting is truly what elevates this show above the potential mess it could have been. The ruthlessness and insensitivity of Frobisher and his cohorts is utterly disgusting and shocking on many occasions, yet I still found myself feeling bad for him during certain moments. Patty Hewes is an enigmatic figurehead, and when you see the bits and pieces that they allow you every now and then of what goes on in her world and the lengths to which she's willing to go to make her case, I wondered if I should really be rooting for her. Ellen Parsons is a wonderful heroine, and seeing her character evolve and adapt throughout the season is truly a treat. There are plenty of other characters worth appreciating, but all you need to know is that it's very well-acted.

The plot is also excellent. The twists and turns and deaths and near-deaths make each episode feel like a mysterious-yet-thrilling roller-coaster ride. The writers are definitely very gutsy, and pull some genuinely unexpected punches. Although there are points that make you feel kind of iffy about the show (there's a particular incident involving someone getting hit by a car that I found very cheesy and unrealistic), overall the plot shines. The overly stylistic flash-forwards eventually become genuinely intriguing and intense, lending a hand in heightening the tension in the rest of the show. On top of that, I felt an unexpected anxiety as the gaps chronicling how distant the majority of the show is from the flash-forwards became steadily smaller and smaller.

Damages is not a perfect show. However, you'll have a hard time finding a more intriguing new show these days (with the arguable exception of MadMen), and by the end of the season you'll find yourself itching to see more, especially with the premise that the finale leaves you with.
FX has another winner on its hands. Once The Shield finally finishes its run this year, Damages is going to be a strong new leg for them to stand on. The plot is thick and the stage-setting is necessary, so get into it early and settle in for a satisfying and (hopefully) long run.

Editorial Review:

Hot new legal thriller on FX! Set in New York's world of high stakes litigation, Damages follows the lives of Patty Hewes, the nation's most revered and most reviled litigator, and her bright, ambitious protégée Ellen Parsons as they become embroiled in a class action lawsuit targeting Arthur Frobisher, one of the country's wealthiest CEOs. As Patty battles Frobisher and his attorney, Ellen learns what it takes to win at all costs, and that lives, not just fortunes, are at stake.

At this rate, I'll be homeschooling my kids 3 out of 5 stars.

I really didn't know anything about Daria before watching this. I knew OF her, I knew she existed in the same universe as Beavis & Butthead - and now I know also the same universe as King Of The Hill. I haven't watched the former, and I've seen random episodes of the latter.

Along with Welcome To The Dollhouse, Daria falls into the "makes-me-want-to-slit-my-wrists" category. I was thoroughly depressed after watching Welcome To The Dollhouse, and was slightly less depressed after watching Daria. All the school stuff freaks me out a bit. I try to cover it up, but it really upsets me, and it's not good. Then I started seeing myself in Daria, as most people probably will. There's something about Daria that makes her similar to most people, or most people can identify with some aspect of her personality.

High school affects different people in different ways. For me, it wasn't a good period of my life. I'm still haunted by it, despite being out of school for a few years now. And the night after watching this, I came across a high school photo that I hadn't ripped up yet. (That bad? Yeah.) It's now well hidden. Unlike Daria, I didn't have a ultra cool best friend, I wasn't that sarcastic, or deadpan, and I didn't have a sister. Boo.

Daria, with its cast of unknown voices (they'd all be well known if it was remade), and kooky characters, is totally different from everything else I'd ever seen. In a good way, it was a overlong TV episode, but didn't feel cut into three different episodes, unlike some TV shows-turned-movies, and the time simply flew by watching it. In a bad way, it will remind people of people from high school, or stuff in general from that period of your lives. For me, it turned out to be one of the most depressing things I've watched, but I did find myself enjoying it tremendously, and even smiling at some points.

I don't think it would be a TV show I could ever get into (possibly?), but if you see it for cheap, I would definitely pick it up. It's well worth a watch, just be careful if you didn't get on too well at school.

The General Lee Rules! 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This 1981-82 Season of The Dukes Of Hazzard was probably the last strongest season throughout the Dukes whole 7-year run on CBS for various reasons.

Because for starters; The Dukes Of Hazzard's 4th Season was the last season with Bo and Luke Duke before they of course got replaced by their cousins Coy and Vance Duke(Byron Cherry, Chris Mayer)along with the fact that this was the last real season with Deputy Cletus Hogg(Rick Hurst) and the only real full season without Deputy Enos Strate(Sonny Shroyer), since Cletus ended up departing in the 5th Season of The Dukes Of Hazzard when Enos returned to the show and to Hazzard County to get his old job back as Sheriff Rosco's fellow deputy, especially since most people wanted Enos back on The Dukes Of Hazzard, but didn't really care for Cletus along with the fact that the 4th Season was the only season when Enos didn't come out at all, but most people obviously preferred Enos to Cletus, especially since Cletus was obviously a bigger doofus than Enos ever was.

For another; this was the last season when the General Lee was still the hottest car on Friday nights, since the Dukes Fourth Season had been the year before KNIGHT RIDER came out and became the hottest car on Friday nights, since KNIGHT RIDER joined the Friday night line-up on NBC in the Fall of 1982 when THE DUKES OF HAZZARD started it's Fifth Season with the new Dukes on CBS's Friday night line-up that same year, which nearly caused KNIGHT RIDER to K.O. THE DUKES OF HAZZARD in the process, since the Knight 2000 had obviously outclassed the General Lee big time, since KITT was more astonishing and a lot flashier than the General Lee ever was, especially since the Knight 2000 on KNIGHT RIDER was the car everybody wanted back then, unlike the General Lee, especially since KNIGHT RIDER nearly tarnished THE DUKES OF HAZZARD during KNIGHT RIDER's First Season on NBC all the way from the Fall of 1982 thru the Summer of 1983, which was of course before KNIGHT RIDER was moved to Sundays.

Additionally, this 1981-82 Season of the Dukes takes me all the way back to memory lane to the recession we had back in 1981-1982 when Ronald Reagan was our president and when CBS had moved THE DUKES OF HAZZARD from 9PM to 8PM when CBS had cancelled THE INCREDIBLE HULK all of the sudden back in November of 1981, which therefore contributed to CBS moving THE DUKES OF HAZZARD an hour earlier replacing THE INCREDIBLE HULK's 8PM time slot on CBS's Friday night line-up.

In addition, the Dukes Fourth Season also takes me back to memory lane when CBS's motto was "Reach For The Stars on CBS", which was CBS's motto from the Fall of 1981 thru the Summer of 1982.

Another reason why I like the Dukes 4th Season so much is because it had some interesting episodes like "Double Dukes", "The 10-Million Dollar Sheriff", "Goodbye General Lee", etc., plus the Dukes Of Hazzard's 1981-82 Season had some pretty interesting guest stars in it too like
-Country Western singer(Mickey Gilley) in "The Sound Of Music Hazzard Style" episode
-Steve Williams in the "Dukes In Danger" episode before his Capt. Fuller days on 21 JUMPSTREET
-William Smith in "The Ten Million Dollar Sheriff" episode
-Tim O'Connor in the "Bad Day In Hazzard" episode after his Dr. Huer days on BUCK ROGERS, etc.
-Laurette Spang in "The Fugitive" episode after her co-starring days on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

This Dukes Of Hazzards 4th Season DVD also has an interesting bonus feature with John Schneider(Bo), Thomas Wopat(Luke), Catherine Bach(Daisy), and producer(Gy Waldron) explaining to us how they all got hired to do this show and also shows all 5 of the '69 Dodge Chargers that they used for the General Lee to do the stunts on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, since the cars would sometimes even break in half doing a stunt when they landed kind of like the KITT Trans Ams did on KNIGHT RIDER sometimes when they'd do a stunt, which was why Glen Larson would have them use 4 Trans-Ams for the Knight 2000 on that show, which was also the same strategy and technique that Glen Larson had them use for Colt Seavers(Lee Majors) GMC Sierra Grande pick up on THE FALL GUY, since the axle on the trucks would even break sometimes during a major stunt.

So I recommend this Dukes Of Hazzard DVD to anyone who was a major Dukes fan and to whoever watched the Dukes Of Hazzard religiously every Friday night on CBS's Friday back in the early 1980's.

The down-home craziness continues with the Duke boys on DVD in The Dukes of Hazzard: The Complete Fourth Season! Following the phenomenal success of the TV franchise on DVD, Season Four's release will precede the much-anticipated theatrical release staring Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville and Sean Scott Williams. All roads lead to fun in this 27-episode, 9-disc collector's set, with special features including an inside look at the series with John Schneider, Cathering Bach, Tom Wopat and Creator Gy Waldron!

Editorial Review:

With its alluring tales of Gothic mystery and supernatural intrigue, DARK SHADOWS became one of the most popular daytime series of all time. Since first airing on ABC-TV from 1966-71, DARK SHADOWS has earned the reputation as being one of the most unusual and enduring programs in broadcasting history. The character of Barnabas Collins, a guilt-ridden, 175-year-old vampire, brought the show tremendous success.

Now, for the first time on DVD, MPI presents the spooky series' rare, early episodes before the arrival of Barnabas.

Collinwood's surly caretaker Mathew Morgan informs Victoria Winters that he believes the ghost of Josette Collins and other spirits inhabit the estate. In an attempt to settle the controversy surrounding the manslaughter case that sent Burke Devlin to prison, Collins Fishing Fleet Manager Bill Malloy sets up a private meeting for himself, Roger Collins, Same Evans and Burke.

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard confides to Victoria some of the legends involving Collinwood and Widow s Hill. Carolyn Stoddard and Victoria spot a body floating at the bottom of the cliff and Victoria soon experiences a strange premonition. After Malloy mysteriously disappears, Roger nervously bribes Sam to leave town. A ghost emerges from the Old House on the Collins family property.

Not as good as previous seasons 3 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I love this series!
However, while I give Seasons 2 and 3 Five Stars (Season 1 had not yet hit a stride), this Season (4) has some problems:

1) The writing just isn't as good as the previous 2 seasons. Too much Israel Boone, and too much of the same type of story with the British, and too many "unbelievable" situations. Sometimes Boone is made to look like a weakling while Israel saves his life! Give me a break.
2) The audio is out of sync on these episodes sometimes. Funny because on one of the Bonus Features they talk about how much care the put into cleaning up the audio and video. As someone in the industry I can tell you that there is no excuse for not having the audio sync up, it's just sloppiness. Someone did not do their job correctly and no one supervised to check and fix it.
3) Jemimah Boone just disappears with no explanation. No great loss, but kind of annoying when people just disappear.
4) Mingo is not in enough episodes.

#1 above is the MAIN problem, though - the others are just minor problems.

I would recommend this season only if you're a completist and want to have the entire collection. If you're only buying one or two sets, buy season 2 and season 3.

I don't know how Seasons after this are, I haven't seen them. Hopefully it does not go further downhill, but usually once a series begins to "jump the shark", there is no going back... And I'd say it jumped the shark in Season 4.
