Dexter's second season had a tough act to follow after the first season. But this Dexter season had new ups and downs from the funny to the sinister side of Dexter. Great 2nd season.

Already on the 4th season and no signs of slowing down 5 out of 5 stars.

It wasn't too long ago that the new series of Doctor Who started up, and before that day, I had only heard of the show in passing. I gave it a shot, and coming from a clean slate, I found I loved the show and have been watching it even since. One of the things that really captivated me about the show was anything was possible. You could be watching an epic space battle one episode, then on to meeting Shakespeare in the next. All the while, the show delivers on comedy and even some drama, the show is definitely a step higher in that department from what I have heard and seen since I started watching this show compared to the original.

A basic summary of your average episode would be that the Doctor and his current companion(s) travel through time and space, sometimes visiting famous events and helping out the locals with and alien related problems they might have. David Tennant has done a remarkable job in his acting, always coming up with odd yet funny quotes to relate to the situation.

One thing that I imagine might turn people away from buying this is the price tag. Compared to most other shows, it costs 2-3 times as much, but if you are a fan of the show or even have just seen a few and like it, I have found that I have been rewatching the episodes over and over again. Now season 4 isn't out yet, but in my opinion, the show is continuing on as strong as ever, even with fairly regular cast replacement, most new characters I have found to be just as good if not better than the last.

I love this show. The acting is good, but the script and story are amazing! It is a bit gruesome, that never bothered me.

Got to me in a timely fashion and was exactly what I ordered - brand new DVD, still in the plastic wrap. Was very pleased with my product.

Absolutely can't miss 5 out of 5 stars.

It's not often that we, the viewing audience, are asked to root for a serial killer to get away with murder. But we are. And we do! There is palpable tension in every episode that genuinely made me nervous for the plight of our anti-hero. Our anti-hero is a blood spatter analyst for the forensics department and is clinically and then personally drawn into the progression of murders that happens by another serial killer.

I think even more interesting than the plot, which is methodical, coherent, a bit scary, and quite entertaining, the characters themselves are very intriguing. Dexter is obviously broken and doing his best to fake being a human being with otherwise normal behaviors and reactions. But his attempt at a relationship with his girlfriend Rita gives the indication that perhaps Dexter is redeemable...

No matter what, at the conclusion of the first season, you will want to buy the second season and see what is in store for Dexter. This is some of the finest television ever made.

Technical notes:
- The cinematography is beautiful.
- The dialogue is amusing where it needs to be, somber elsewhere, and
while at times stilted, is quite effective.
- The music is perfect for the settings.
- The introduction sequence may disturb some people while making others
quite hungry. I am of the hungry persuasion.

my soap opera 5 out of 5 stars.

I enjoy watching to see what next and how desperate the housewifes are.amazon has the best price on all my seres and movies.

Terrific extras make an already good season a must-have set for fans. 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

There's little else to add to what others have said of the season itself. Instead, I wanted to note the great extras that make this DVD set a nice buy. Several are of the same type as previous season sets:

There are audio commentaries for six episodes, the first by Marc Cherry and some writers with nice tidbits (season 3 was to end with the revelation of Bree faking her pregnancy but ABC didn't think that was dramatic enough so they came up with Edie's "Hanging"). The other five are "Couple commentaries" with nice banter between the actors and some fun stuff (like Marcia Cross marveling at how her cleveage was so big early in the season).

"Desperate From Beginning to End" looks at the creation of an episode, this one the tornado ep. It notes what a challenge it was with all the stunts and special effects work and how amazed they were ABC let them destory the set like that. It's a great insight to how they created the amazing story.

Hanging with the Men of Wisteria Lane" has the male actors bowling and sharing stories about the show.

"Cherry Picked" are Marc Cherry's half-dozen favorite scenes from the season.

There are also a dozen deleted scenes, many filler but some interesting and fun. This includes the alternate ending for the season finale and it's clear that Cherry made the right move changing it.

So overall, great extras flesh the season out and make this rebounding series back on its game.

A Great Season With Just A Few Slips In Time 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

David Tennant's second season as everybody's favorite Doctor is wonderful. It features some of the best adventures in the revived show's run. While many may miss Billie Piper's Rose, Freema Agyeman is more than sufficient as the Doctor's latest companion, Martha. The duo meet in the season opener (albeit the second show of the actual season), "Smith & Jones." That particular episode gives viewers a dose of creepiness thanks to a blood-sucking villain who's on the run from the Judoon, a rhino-like alien species who patrol the stars looking for baddies.

The rest of the season is filled with plenty of highlights. In particular, the Doctor and Martha face off against witches in "The Shakespeare Code" which actually features William Shakespeare (a theme of bumping into literary legends that has flourished in the series revival). Two excellent two-show arcs also pop up during this season. The Daleks return in "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks" and a new enemy appears in "Human Nature" and "Family of Blood."

The best show of the entire revival is also found in this season of Who. "Blink" is scary, suspenseful and the pinnacle of the creepiness that haunts this entire season. Using a familiar fixture of cemetaries, churches and office buildings, this story will make you look twice (and not blink) at certain statues you come across in everyday life.

With so much excellence running throughout the entire season, you'd think that even the subpar episodes would be brilliant. Unfortunately that isn't so. While "The Lazarus Experiment," "42" and the first episode of a three show arc, "Utopia," are all solid, episodes such as the dull "Gridlock" and the downright goofy "The Last of the Time Lords" actually grate the nerves of fans of the original series. Even the return of Captain Jack can't save the season finale from being something of a disappointment. "The Runaway Bride" also toys with the goofy factor.

Two of the Doctor's classic television villains return this season. One gets a CGI update in the not-so-hot "Gridlock" and the other appears in the three-episode finale (although sharp viewers will recognize his name before he actually appears on screen). Derek Jacobi and John Simm portray this baddie who I'll keep nameless for now, but Simm's portrayal is too over-the-top for me. There's even a very light hint at another of the Doctor's classic foes, but whether or not SHE will ever make a comeback is unknown at this time.

Special features include "Doctor Who Confidential" episodes, Tennant's video diary, deleted scenes, promos, etc. including a fun political endorsement from Sharon Osbourne for a character that viewers will get to know quite well by the end of the season.

Tennant and Agyeman are the glue that keeps this season afloat. While there are a few misses in this season, their performances and the excellence of "Blink" and "The Shakespeare Code" make this a must-have season.

Recommended to fans of both the classic and revived Who series as well as anybody who enjoys action, suspense, comedy and a good dose of horror to boot.

Dancing with the Stars Cardio 2 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Not really cardio, I consider myself pretty active, I jog and play tennis and I wanted a CARDIO workout and that is not what I got.

Harder than I ever thought it would be! 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

When I watch Dancing with the Stars on TV, I admire how quickly the celebrities learn the steps and sometimes multiple dances in a week. I didn't think learning the samba or mambo would be so challenging. I didn't find the instructors really knew how to lead an exercize video. You don't get enough warning when it comes to the steps and it is hard to be motivated by their voices because they are reading off of cards or something.

I also didn't find this to be a great cardio workout. It was fun but I'm kind of disappointed I bought it.

Good Moves 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is good exercise and stretching but I am curious as to why Cheryl and female dancers are wearing heels and sexy outfits during the dances [they don't in stretching]; I certainly don't exercise that way :-)

Great way to loose weight 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a very strenuous work out. It you have bad knees you might want to skip the samba and the salsa. The other two are more comfortable for me. I love to dance and this is a fun way to exercise.

Stick with it... 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Yes, at first the DVD is tricky to follow. Maxim starts out pretty basic and easy to follow with the Paso Doble. Next is Ashley and she introduces a little more difficulty with the Cha-Cha, and so on. But, I found that if I just did what I could I eventually started learning the routines through repetition. You will still break out in a sweat even if you're just trying to learn the moves (you don't have to have perfect execution to lose weight). If you're getting frustrated, then you're taking this way too seriously. Loosen up, try your best, and have fun; the accuracy will eventually occur - and when it does you really feel like you've accomplished something big. I am a complete two-left footed klutz and can get through the dances pretty well. This is one of the few workout routines I enjoy.

I feel like I'm part of the show. It's well worth the money. It's so much fun 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

If you really love to dance and have a natural sense of rhthym this dvd is great for you. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who isn't comfortable dancing in a crowd because ballroom dancing is a bit dramatic and takes some coordination.

It's so much fun that I look forward to doing this video everyday. It literally helps me to get out of bed. I love that I'm exercising and learning these dance steps. I've lost 6 lbs and feel youthful and energetic after two weeks of dancing everyday. The Jive is a real burner and a bit hard to pick up all the moves because it's so fast paced. The other dances are much easier to get. I'm so thrilled to own this dvd. It is so worth the $9.99. One dance class would cost that. I can do this dvd over and over and learn something new every time. I still haven't gotten a few of the harder dance steps. That's okay because it gives me something to look forward to.

I gave four stars instead of 5 because, although I love Maksim and Kim, I find Ashley's voice extremely annoying and high pitched. I don't know why the producers picked her for this dvd. She also says "back" when she's going forward and vice versa. I feel like she just wants to hear herself talk and sounds really stupid. I've learned to ignore her voice. Also, the camera doesn't always show feet or legs and I hate that. The improv section is also really disorganized and hard to follow. That being said, I love this video. It makes me happy. I highly recommend it.

More Southfork shenanigans and Ewing Oil skulduggery in the much-loved legendary saga. 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 15 people found this review helpful.

The worldwide mega-hit drama that dominated the 80s returns with the wheelings and dealings of those entertaining and feuding oil-rich Texans in this Season 10 DVD of all the action from Southfork and Ewing Oil. DALLAS returns to its original formula of focusing on the charismatic Ewing family, their in-fighting and J.R.'s scheming. This dramatically vibrant season won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Night Time Dramatic Serial in 1987 and its quality scripts, tightly woven plots and imaginative storylines breathe new life into the show.

Larry Hagman puts on his famous Texan Stetson for another great performance as that lovable villain J.R. Ewing who this season engineers one of his biggest and sneakiest schemes in a plot to blow up rival Arabian oil fields and stirs up a hornets' nest of trouble. The Emmy-winning and legendary Barbara Bel Geddes, who is honored at the American Theatre Hall of Fame for her outstanding contributions to American theatre, displays her great talent as an actress when Wes Parmalee's shock Jock revelation causes Miss Ellie to battle with her family and her conscience. Linda Gray wonderfully portrays a fun and conniving Sue Ellen who sets up sultry Mandy (former Miss USA Deborah Shelton) as her company's sexy lingerie model in a revenge scheme against J.R. Patrick Duffy and Victoria Principal are reunited for their winning portrayal of the 80s supercouple Bobby and Pam who finally remarry after being apart for so long. In an episode written by cast member Susan Howard Chrane (Donna Krebbs), J.R.'s venom level rises against Cliff which sets another sneaky J.R. scheme in motion.

This is a fun and funny season with many humorous lines including some between J.R. and Sue Ellen! Ken Kercheval splendidly plays Cliff Barnes in a light-hearted style throughout this season which makes Cliff more interesting and amusing. Texas-born movie veteran Steve Forrest gives a convincing performance as Wes Parmalee in a storyline involving mystery, scandal and intrigue. Victoria Principal and Ken Kercheval both display their good acting skills in some strong and entertaining scenes together. Former model Sheree J. Wilson is good as the show's new scheming and money-hungry bitch April Stevens. This season's final episode - with the spectacular end-of-season cliffhanger of Pam's explosive exit - is Victoria Principal's, Susan Howard's and Deborah Shelton's last appearances on the show. The legend that is Larry Hagman won the Soap Opera Digest Awards for Outstanding Prime Time Lead Actor and for Outstanding Prime Time Villain during this season. This is a tightly-written and taut season and it also has many comic moments and some shocking ones too.

This tenth season is produced by DALLAS veteran David Paulsen (Writer, Director & Story Editor of DVD Seasons 6, 7 & 8) and is well-plotted and well-executed and it also smashed its competition of the new hit MIAMI VICE in the Nielsen's ratings every week for the whole 1986-87 season which demonstrated the success and strength of this Season 10.

Next on DALLAS in the Season 11 DVD packed with devious intrigue has a nastier and meaner J.R. Ewing who is up to his evil schemes and sinister plotting to exact his ultimate revenge on Weststar. There are 4 seasons left to be released on DVD of the world's most-famous soap opera.

Dresden Files Review 4 out of 5 stars.

I loved this series, why did they have to go and cancel is after the 1st season. It was only a handfull of episodes and most were just the beginning of what happens in the books written by Jim Butcher. The only thing a would have to say was disapointing was that there was not enough bonus content on the season. Overall it was a great value $22.99(CND) I really hope they do choose to continue the series sometime in the near future.

Three star story, three star casting/acting, one star production values. 2 out of 5 stars.

The first thing I did after putting the DVD in was hunt frantically for subtitles; it's nearly impossible to make out the dialogue over the overmiked bgm and sound effects.

There are no subtitles available on the DVD.

This makes the show almost unwatchable.

The reinterpretation of the Dresden story (he wakes up with a lady in the opening scenes, his father knew about his magical abilities, Bob is a semi-effete platinum blond guy who only occasionally (probably because it interrupts his brotherly psychoanalytic love) has to re-enter the skull he lived in in the book) is something I should keep an open mind about in this review, and the casting and acting (I'm still trying to make it through the second episode) are average for a low-budget TV show on its first episode.

I really want to like this series. I just finished the first book and am prepared to love almost anything labeled with the word Dresden, even if it's a TV show ghostwritten by someone who only read the back covers of the novels.

If I could just hear what the characters were saying, maybe I could summon enough interest to finish watching these DVDs instead of wandering off to write this review.

Fantastic! The adjustment time from the first series Doctor was a bit long for me but the stories are simply great in this second series. The last episode was truly awesome! When I told my kids about Doctor Who, they gave me the "raspberrys". But, when we all were watching the next to the last TV episode which ended with "to be continued", they all let out a gasp of dispair!!!!! So much for their "raspberrys"!! Dad was right about this being a great series!

Wow 5 out of 5 stars.

I was blown away by "Season 2" - there was not one episode that I felt was weak or strayed from character. I enjoyed the interaction between the Doctor and Rose, especially the growth as they became more familar with each other. Definately a worthwhile purchase on my part.

Outstanding 5 out of 5 stars.

David Tennant is brilliant as the Doctor! I loved this series, and my only complaint is that it's only 13 episodes long!
