this was purchased as a gift but I was very impressed with how fast I received it. Of course it came from your warehouse in Phoenix and I live just down the road in Avondale but nonetheless I had it right away which was impressive.

A BIG LOVE CLASSIC!! BILL PAXTON AND CAST ARE BRILLIANT 5 out of 5 stars.

what can i say about big love...love it or hate it but you cant ignore it . its a great show. hbo does it again with the classics like with oz, the wire and now they look into the world of polygamy. a strange world but a entertaining world. will you love the show yes you will...you will love the cast especially bill paxton who is such a underrated actor. i love his work like a simple plan and one false move. i love his character bill because his character is such a complex character....you want to hate him love him, you laugh with him, he can be a control freak with his wives, he can be scary but i love his cut throat business deals where he will do what it takes to secure his very large family. he is already rich but he will get more if it means that he has to scam his way thru everything. that is what i love about the show is that he is such a greedy person. there are sad moments like episode where barb was going to be mother of the year. that is a very powerful episode. when you watch these episodes keep an open mind about the show. dont judge it right away till you seen all the stories. if you are looking for graphic sex scenes it has it here. barb doesnt really get naked but his other two wives nikki and margene do. barb does a lot of BJs in the show. i have no idea why she does a lot of that i mean she got butt naked for basic instinct go figure on that one. but for the most part....the stories are really good that looks into the polygamy world its a very disturbing world where you seen men with dozens of wives and the women in the compound have no real say. the men are total control freaks on the compound. but what i love about the show is how bill and his family try to intergrate with the rest of society but yet have to hide their family from the world because it is against the law. i also love the relationship between the wives its like there is a good one, an evil one and the bossy one. you get to see the jealous behavior when it comes to bill and how they join together to get what they want from bill. they can also be nutty too like when the wives were working out their wills or when nikki has a shopping addiction and it will cost the family loads of money. you will see for yourself what i am talking about. so what i am saying is that this is a great show. its worth buy. amazon does have it cheap here i seen in stores that they want 90 dollars for this collection i say they can keep it if its 90 dollars. if you are waiting for the price to go down that is understandable too. but its worth buy when you are ready to get your hands on it! A plus!

Editorial Review:

Think having three wives is a dream come true? Think again. HBO presents the new contemporary drama series that tells the story of Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton), a practicing polygamist who lives in suburban Salt Lake City with his three wives and seven children. An independent businessman who runs a growing chain of hardware stores, Bill faces a myriad of challenges in meeting the emotional, romantic and financial needs of his wives Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn), Nicki (Chloe Sevigny) and Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin) while dealing with their kids, three adjoined houses, an ever-mounting avalanche of bills, and the opening of his newest hardware store.

Brady Bunch Complete Season 4 out of 5 stars.

Really love having this Series in a complete set. Like I read in a previous review before buying...Not totally crazy about the packaging. The disks come in an accordion like sleeve that's a really flimsy thin cardboard. Seems like it would come apart very easily if not handled with care. As long as I keep my kids away from it, it should be OK. Otherwise, I have no problems with it.

BUNCH OF FUN! 5 out of 5 stars.

Oh My nose! Marcia Marcia Marcia. Goodnight Mr. And Mrs. Brady. Baby Talk Baby Talk It's A Wonder You Can Walk. Come On Chicken. Pork Chops And Apple Sauce, Isn't That Swell? I could go on....do I need to say more? Bloody Brilliant Classics for the whole dang family. My kids love it!

The first season blows, the rest pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Brady Bunch - The Complete Series is highly entertaining for the whole family. I never cared for the 1st season, the kids were really annoying and pathetic especially Marsha and Bobby. I think the last 2 seasons were the real gems but just like everyone I didn't like Oliver, what a pest!! If you enjoyed watching this classic on t.v. then might as well buy the whole series, have a ball with this one!

no more fox purchases till they continue releasing this series 5 out of 5 stars.

This is an all-time classic show. Like many of the reviewers here, I couldn't wait for this box set to come out. I bought the seasons as they were released. It has been more than two years since Fox released the fourth season. Same goes for another absolute 1970s class, The Mary Tyler Moore Show. It can't be about sales. These were both very popular shows in their day. They both are as funny as ever - even funnier now in the sense that by watching them these days you see the obvious weakness in the writing of modern tv. I've had it with waiting. There is lots on my wish list. Fox is not getting another penny from me until they start releasing the remaining seasons of these two MTM classics. That's it. End of discussion. Are the Fox bean counters listening yet?

70's TV Classic 5 out of 5 stars.

I am starting a collection of classic TV shows. We watch very little TV in our house..We don't have and never did have cable so what do watch has to be very good..The kids like Bob Newhart---truely funny without the dummied down bathroom humor and booty calls of today's shows.

The Wheels Fall Off 4 out of 5 stars.

Great intrigue as Bill's perfect world starts to fray at the edges. Nicky, surely the least likeable wife, wrangles with her money demons. Barb renews her attempts to placate and mediate impossible situations for love of Bill and Margene makes efforts go her own way.

The threats hinted at in series one emerge powerfully in this series because it was too good to be true. Veterans of series 1 knew that and the narratives which drive series 2 will please them. Bill's oldest children have to find ways to deal with their weird family which adds an extra level of intelligence to the script.

Editorial Review:

The critically acclaimed hit series, Big Love, returns for it’s second break-out season. Bill Henrickson works hard and plays by the rules. All he wants in return is a happy, secure, normal life for his family. Is that too much to ask? Maybe so. For a polygamist like Bill, the American Dream comes with strings attached. Season 2 opens with even more drama, as Bill’s mission to learn who tipped off the authorities and exposed first wife, Barb, as a polygamist escalates. Not surprisingly, his search will lead him to the polygamist compound of Juniper Creek where his primary suspect is Roman Grant. Bill contemplates changes in his personal and professional life that promise to impact every member of his family.

Perfect Irish soap opera 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I bought this Ballykissangel: The Complete Collection as birthday gift for my wife. I am really bad with soap operas of any kind but my wife really-really loves this movie, so I got some points. So if your wife is Irish prety much she will love it. I find some places in this show funny and entertaining also and most of all characters really fascinating.

Comedy/Drama At Its Best 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We fell for this sometimes silly, often lyrical and moving chronicle of a small, everyone knows everyone Irish town in the late 90s, early 00s. It takes its time developing the characters and themes, but once there you know and care about these subtlety good people. Surprising plot twists, a great score and exceptional performances--I can't think of a single actor who fell short in the early years.

There's a significant transition after the third year. I expected a letdown but it turned out to be only slightly so, at least at first. The producers kept introducing new, interesting characters and plot lines and the photography gets even more spectacular. But into the fifth year, things do fall off, although still interesting.

Editorial Review:

The complete collection of this beloved drama is finally here! Ballykissangel has become a huge international success since first hitting UK television screens in 1995, and continues to win over millions of fans from across the world. B5 after five years manages to go gently into that good night 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The final season of BABYLON 5 is an odd one. Until the end of the season, when the events focus on the decline and fall of Centauri Prime, much of the action is focused on an arc concerning renegade telepaths. The story never really takes off and never becomes particularly compelling, and it does really result in anything definitive in the way that the conclusions of the Shadow Wars and the Civil War against President Clark and his minions changed the landscape of the show. I enjoyed Lyta Alexander as a character, but I hated to see her involved in such a relatively dull storyline.

For the most part, the first two-thirds of the final season was pretty lackluster, with the one glittering exception being the marvelous standalone episode by guest writer Neil Gaiman, "Day of the Dead." I appreciate the amazing achievement of J. Michael Straczynski in writing virtually ever episode of the show. Only David E. Kelly can claim to top him in prolificacy of writing (while Straczynski wrote nearly all of B5, Kelly wrote the majority of a half dozen major series, surely an accomplishment that will never be equaled again). Personally, however, I think B5 lost something in having Straczynski write nearly everything. I personally believe that B5 lacked a little in diversity and in scope of vision other series like BUFFY or BSG. And part of the reason is that the main writers on both of those shows -- Joss Whedon and Ron Moore respectively -- took a different approach from Straczynski. They broke the main storylines and wrote key episodes themselves, but for the most part they served more as executive story editors, hiring a staff of some of the best writers in the business to flesh out their story ideas and then polishing the scripts as they were being prepared for production. There is no question that B5 is from first to last the product of the imagination of J. Michael Straczynski, but I think it is less rich than if others had been involved in the writing process. The wonderful Neil Gaiman episode is a brilliant illustration of that. Also, the show over time showed some of Straczynski's vices as well as virtues. He is, for instance, pretty weak at comedy, though he does recognize the value of comic sequences. He also tends to be an incredibly verbose writer. Given the choice of saying or showing, he'll choose saying every time. On the other hand, I really enjoyed his ability to visualize storylines over long periods of time. He is an incredibly patient writer, willing to throw out a detail that won't really get dealt with for a couple of years. B5 would have been impossible without J. Michael Straczynski. I just think he would have been a richer show if he had brought in other writers to help out and broaden the texture of the show.

As I mentioned, the long telepath arc never really caught fire like the President Clark or Shadows arcs did. Furthermore, some of the main characters on the show seemed to play a lessened role in the first part of Season 5. Bruce Boxleitner had considerably less screen time, as did Mira Furlan. Claudia Christian unfortunately left the show after Season Four and her absence was palpable. Steven Furst also played a much smaller role, though he contributed more off-screen by directing some episodes. I liked Tracy Scoggins a lot as Captain Lochley. I knew her primarily from Season One of THE ADVENTURES OF LOIS AND CLARK, where she played the office sexpot (and got booted off the show by network prudes who felt she was too sexy for it to be the family show they envisioned it should be) and was surprised that she could be convincing in a role that didn't depend on her being sexy.

The last third of the season was, however, a thing of beauty. These episodes were dramatic, exciting, thrilling, and basically everything B5 could be at its best. Londo ends the series as one of the most tragic characters in the history of TV, as he has finally come to realize what matters and what doesn't, but is put into an utterly impossible position. The last couple of episodes are devoted to goodbyes. Various characters leave B5 for the last time as nearly everyone we've known on the show leaves the station for new adventures elsewhere. The series finale is one of the most emotionally satisfying ends to a series ever. Knowing that the twenty year extension on his life is about to expire, Sheridan assembles all his friends from B5 for a final goodbye, and then leaves without telling them. On the way he stops at B5, on the very day it is about to be decommissioned and destroyed. The last person we see on B5 is a technician who is played by J. Michael Straczynski, who literally turns the lights out. A few seconds later we see a series of explosions ripple from one end of the station to another, as Babylon 5 the station comes to an end only a few minutes before BABYLON 5 the series. The series ends on a grand slam home run. (BTW, the destruction of B5 shows how far the CGI on the show came during its five-year run -- in the first seasons the CGI was clumsy, ugly, and frankly just not very impressive, but by the end of the series new software packages had come out to produce some truly lovely shots.)

I've always been honest to anyone I've talked to about this show that I've had a love-hate relationship with B5. It did so many things right but also so many things wrong. Dramatically it was slower to get off the ground than any series I know, but in the end delivered some of the better, more compelling storylines that I've seen. I detested the appalling hair of Londo as well as his improbable accent, but came to like the grand tragedy connected to his character. In the end, the good definitely outweighed the bad. I'm also immensely grateful that the network was patient enough with the show to let it develop all its main stories to the very end. Just think how horrid it would have been had B5 been cancelled after Season 3. In the end it got to go out on its own terms. All series should be so lucky.

Editorial Review:

From the beginning, both were running out of time. The space station that was the last, best hope for peace was sooner or later certain to be eclipsed by new political coalitions and technical advances. And John Sheridan, who guided the massive freeport through its most tumultuous days, knew that his own fate had been inalterably prophesied. Now both storylines converge in a 22-episode final season (with dazzling Exclusive DVD Extras!) whose events also include Sheridan's attempts to wage peace for the Interstellar Alliance, the tragic fate of the telepaths and the ultimate fireball destruction of the outmoded station after it is declared to be a spaceway navigational hazard. You are cleared for final approach to Babylon 5.

Epic Story 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is an amazing climax to an incredible series. If you have seen the first three seasons, then you know what to expect as far as acting chops and production budget. If you haven't seen the first three seasons, DO NOT start with this one. You will be short changing yourself. The only issue I have with this season is that you can tell they felt rushed in making sure all the big issues were resolved by the end of the season. At the time of filming, they did not believe they would receive a 5th season and as such Straczynski wanted to ensure the completion of his story. On the up side, this is pretty much an excellent roller coaster ride.

Editorial Review:

The future begins - or ends - here and now. Here is the huge space station Babylon 5. Now is the fateful year 2261. Commander John Sheridan has already declared the station free, breaking the ties between it and Earth Alliance. It was perhaps only a matter of time before he would have to fight to remain free. That time has come in this complete 22-episode fourth-season adventure presented on six discs and featuring an exciting array of exclusive extras.

The galaxy goes to hell 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Following up on the dramatic action from the previous season, the third season of Babylon 5 throws on yet more exciting story, in the form of the Earth Alliance and its eventual civil war.

Key to this storyline are 'the Trilogy' - "Messages from Earth", "Point of No Return", and the Hugo-award winning "Severed Dreams". These episodes are extremely highly regarded (rightfully so, in my opinion), and mark the beginning of the major two-front war the Babylon 5 characters would face until the end of Season 4.

Even as the civil war erupts, though, Sheridan and company must still deal with the Shadows continuing to make their move in the galaxy and the Vorlons finally getting involved. The ominous Morden (great performance throughout by Ed Wasser) continues to haunt Londo, and the way characters react as the galaxy falls apart around them is fascinating.

I'm torn as to which I prefer - this or the previous season, but both mark some of the finest science fiction ever produced in any medium.
