I think this is the rare TV show that i've had the pleasure of watching chronologically as it came out. And, while I feel the show has lost alot of it's direction now that it's in it's final season (they REALLY needed to stick with shorter seasons....), this first season is one of the best things put to the TV screen. I couldn't recommend it enough.

I say the above as a newbie to the Battlestar universe. I never saw the original (thankfully!)and had no idea what to expect. I heard since that alot was changed from the original series, but I couldn't tell you what. I'm just glad this series, particularly this season was so damn good!

The DVD includes not just the first season entire, but the original three-hour miniseries that started it and probably the BEST extras this side of DR Who that gives you EVERYTHING you'd ever want to know about this brilliant show's first (and BEST) season.

I enjoy this series about as much as anything I can think of. It is wonderful to watch it on DVD and not have to watch the reruns on SciFi channel. I do wish they had released seasons 2.0 and 2.5 together on the same DVD set. We could surely have saved some money.

Season 2 is even better than season 1. The writers find their stride in Allan's character, using him to argue cases for modern issues. Denny balances him, offering the opposite opinion but both show how you can be friends with someone who has differing viewpoints. Humorous, engaging, and intelligent.

Of course any Boston Legal fan will love this, however people with just an interest in the show will also love it because of all of the wonderful star power they brought into Season 2. One of my favorite seasons to date.

I suppose since the Family Guy era has taken its stronghold over Adult Swim, the folks at Cartoon Network feel the need to keep this show, as well as Moral Orel and any other waste-of-space TV show that lowers the standard of humor to unfathomable levels for today's viewers.

I usually can get over it, but Boondocks is one of those shows that not only recycles every single racist joke and stereotype that used to make people laugh, but the head writer, Aaron McGruder plagues his show with contradiction. It's great that he's a guy who preaches racial harmony and unity; however, his show preaches nothing but hatred for white people (but I guess that's okay for some). Now McGruder does play with multiple racial stereotypes, but the end result is something that isn't positive, beneficial, or even funny for anyone of any race, age, sex, or religion... and this is coming from me, one of the biggest South Park fans around.

Season six of Beverly Hills, 90210 has great storylines. Dylan and Toni's romance and Toni's death. Kelly's coke addiction and relationship with Colin. Clare and Steve's relationship as a couple. Season six a lot of fun, only the sad part is that Dylan, the best character leaves. Season six of Beverly Hills, 90210 has a lot of storylines you will like.

The 2.5 series starts off horrible. The first two episodes were so bad I almost stopped watching the series thinking that it "jumped the shark". However I hung in there and by the end of the 3 discs you are delivered into a whole new outlook on the series. So far this set was the weakest out of all the others, but with that being said this series is better than 99.99% of all the stuff on TV even at its worst. So you should buy it and enjoy.

Science-fiction has never reached this level of perfection until now. Acting, writing, production values, all climaxing to the absolute panicle in television viewing. If you do not have this complete series in your collection you will forever regret it.

An interesting take on Sci-Fi, is BSG. At it's core are ultra-conservative values and a fascination with the military. Buddy camaraderie, loyalty, family, military hierarchy, patriotism are endorsed and revered. Abortion is banned. The exiled humans follow their "scripture", an unabashedly fundamentalist Biblical plan which turns out to be literally true (!). Having their Scripture, humans can safely eschew mystical experience which is something that the "Cylons" have a mono-poly on. Let us also not forget that the plot is based on 12 human colonies trying to find Earth (ie, "Zion")!

On the other hand, intellectuals and scientists are demonized (cowardly, crazy and traitorous), as are unions and civil society advocates (power-hungry ex-terrorists) and any mental-emotional sophistication (likely to be manipulation by Cylon enemies). In other words, the show could have been (and perhaps was) written by a Dobson-Cheney surrogate in some military Psy Ops room or another. if so, the creators should get medals for it.

Because the show works. The drama and its protagonists suck me right in every single time. Great writing, directing, excellent acting, great selection of actors which, surprisingly for a 'fundamentalist' show, feature women in key combat roles. That was an excellent call; the Lt. Starbuck character in particular mixes macho posturing and femaleness in a weirdly unique and unflinchingly consistent way. So one roots for Galactica and her crew and is happy and relieved every time they blast their way through Cylon lines.

the director certainly does not spare viewers' sensibilities. The language is raunchy (what the frack!), violence is depicted graphically with no details spared, the creators of the show revel in all kinds of abuse and torture; the graphic nature of confrontations at physical, psychological and cultural levels is imo quite effective. BSG and its cousin Stargate represent polar opposites to the philosophical sophistication and enlightening aspirations of shows such as Star Trek or early Star Wars; they're the Sci-Fi equivalent of redneck pulp that catalyzes people's inherent fear of the "Other" rather than teaching them to be better, more 'enlightened', humans. Of what use is personal growth and happiness if there is a terrorist hiding under every rock? Unfortunately this is the kind of pulp i like. Just as unfortunately, i am not alone.

This show is without a doubt the best and most professionally written show on TV. I just discovered it last year, and have purchased and rented everything through Season 3...and am currently watching Season 5. I am dismayed that this is its last season!

The acting talent and most importantly, the writing talent, should be commended. I am certainly taken with the talent of James Spader, who in my estimation is most talented, and I look forward to his closing arguments each week. It will be a great loss to the viewing public to not experience this show after this season. I would be at the top of his fan club (but he is the age of my son!)...'nuff said.

Brotherhood is was of the best television shows that has come out recently. I was a big fan of the Sopranos and they are not alike. Jason Clark and Anna Beth Gish are fantastic as the troubled wife and ambitious politician. Jason Isaacs however is brilliant in his part. People need to understand that they are developing his character. This is only the first season and he is working his way up the food chain. People critisize this show because Jason Isaacs part is not tough enough and should already have taken over, but give it time. This is street crime at its best. The Italian mafia is its own thing, and Soprano pretty much started out on top. Here we get to watch the lead evil brother develope. On the other had we also get to see the good politian brother show that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Although he believes he is righteous, we can see throughout the season he also is devoloping into his ouw monster. This show is outstanding and i hope the second season delivers.

this is the best drama on television. a great cast, especially the two jasons who play the two brothers. now that 'the shield' is no more, this is the only crime drama left on tv worth watching. cudos to showtime for presenting this fabulous series.

just a brief vent: i recently discovered that the golden globes had nominated 'weeds,' 'californication,'and 'dexter' for awards.
imo, the best series showtime airs is 'brotherhood'. it's strong on acting, directing, and writing. completely ignored by the morons from the golden globe. btw, they also ignored the best movie of 2008 "the dark knight." throwing it only one bone for heath ledger.
don't get me wrong, i like 'dexter', but it doesn't hold a candle to 'brotherhood.'on the other hand, i totally hate 'californication' and if there's a more boring actor on the planet than dave duchovny, i'd like to know who it is. 'weeds' has overstayed it's welcome.
golden globes aren't so 'golden' in my opinion.

ps: 'brotherhood ' is in good company; 'the wire', perhaps the greatest series in tv history, was also ignored by the 'golden globes' and the 'emmies.' is it any wonder why mediocrity rules the entertainment world.
