One summer I saw that they were having a marathon of sorts of "Galactica 1980" on TV, so I taped a few episodes and watched them. The first episodes of the series, involving the main characters traveling back in time to World War II is pretty cool.

The rest.....not so much.....

I'll admit that I haven't seen all the episodes, but from what I saw the series just doesn't work. This show could be for kids, and that's why it doesn't work. There's nothing wrong with a kids show, but Galactica doesn't fit in the realm of a saturday-morning children's program, as 1980 appears to be. There aren't as many cool special effects, stock footage from the original series is annoyingly used here and there are plot holes (for example, Troy and Dillan visit Earth in the two-parter first episode. Some time later they tell the children of the fleet that because they were raised on ships, the atmosphere and gravity will be different for them on Earth and thus they will posess the power to jump really high and whatnot. This is a good idea, but why didn't they incorporate this into the first episode?!)

Compared to the original Galactica, 1980 is bland, unepic, and too goofy. The only real good parts are the comedy scenes when the "Galacticans" get confused with Earth technology and culture.

Trust me, you don't need to add this one to your sci-fi collection. You're not missing much.

Once again FOX is sticking it to long-time, loyal fans of these older TV shows. They did it with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and are doing it to Burke's Law also. Splitting seasons into 2 parts and charging full price. Then, when fans get angry and stop buying(or burn their own off nostalgia TV)they discontinue production leaving us with an incomplete series and really mad. And no extras is just plain lazy!!

I am of the original TV generation, and I have been avidly collecting my favorite television series on DVD as soon as they become available. I was just about to put season one of The Big Valley in my shopping cart when I stumbled across Season 2 PART 1. Breaking TV seasons up into two parts is nothing short of reprehensible. In comparison to producing new series, the studios have only minor production costs involved in releasing shows such as this on DVD at this late date. And at the rate they are releasing these classic shows, I will have to leave it to my great grandchildren to collect the final seasons. I will be long gone before they become available. The studios need to realize who their audience is. If they think the younger generations are all that interested in classic TV shows, I think they have a rude awakening coming. They need to release ENTIRE TV SERIES NOW to take advantage of the fact that many of us who were there when these shows originally aired are still alive and interested in collecting them. As for ANY series which has seasons broken into two parts, I WILL NOT BUY THEM.

A Pretty Good Synapsis Of 1990's Americana 5 out of 5 stars.

"Beavis And Butt-Head Do America" came out to a lot of fanfare in the mid-1990's, and I was one of many who went to the theater to see it, and someone in the row behind me summed it up pretty good: "...I can't stand it, I'm laughing too hard!..."

There is a lot of extremely low-brow humor in this film, but it is actually a sophisticated screenplay, with a lot of nuances to it; it isn't just a bunch of sight-gags aimed at stupid people. The plot follows our heroes from their home in Highland, Texas to Washington, D.C. via many scenic and historic places, where they meet many eccentric characters and get into several scrapes, all the while remaining oblivious to how dire their situation really is. Their TV has been stolen, and they just want to get it back, or maybe get a new one. They unwittingly become pawns in a murder-for-hire plot, as well as an international bio-terrorism scheme. They unknowingly smuggle a device to the White House which, if detonated, or even damaged, will unleash a super-virus which will bring about a nightmarish outbreak of illness unlike anything many have ever seen. Their motivation? They believe they will "score" with an extremely sexy woman who will give them a lot of money, just to go to Washington. When she discovers what naieve kids they really are, she sews the doomsday device into Beavis' pants (he took them off, thinking he was going to take her to bed), and tells them to take a tour bus to Washington. To them, it is a fun trip, despite some inconveniences, but they only see it as a road trip. They just want their TV, and they want to "score."

This movie was my first taste of the work of Rob Zombie. I'm not really a fan of his music, I don't hate it, but I don't get into it either. While the story takes us to the desert, there is a peyote-induced hallucination sequence devised by Rob Zombie, accompanied with music from his band, White Zombie, with a selection called "Rat Finks, Suicide Tanks, And Cannibal Girls." This is an outstanding piece of film. I have this movie on tape and on DVD, but seeing this sequence on a big screen in the movie theater, was very memorable. This bit wasn't really part of the story, but worth the price of admission nonetheless.

Of course, as per the TV series, Beavis and Butt-Head cause bedlam everywhere they go. They don't mean any harm, they just don't have a clue. And coincidence keeps making them cross paths with poor old Tom Anderson, who just wanted to see the sights on his way to Washington, and visit the White House. On the surface, nobody deserves the hassle he goes through, poor guy, but he is SO clueless, he virtually asks for all his woes. So it's no surprise when he goes down with the villians as a conspirator.

This review is based on the original VHS release and the first issue of the DVD. In this format, there are no extras, apart from two short movie trailers. The tenth anniversary release may have a lot of extras, I don't know. But really, who actually NEEDS all that? Sure, it's nice to have all that, but why do you buy a movie on tape or disc? To watch the movie, at your convenience.

As earlier stated, this is a very funny, very well-made movie, which always gets a laugh, from me, anyway.

i bought this set for my wife who is a big fan. bewitched is one of those shows that never gets old and both my wife and i watch it when we can,but my kids have found it and i think they are hooked also. this is one that you need in your collection.can't wait for the other seasons to come out!

I love this tape. I love the black and white because the picture looks natural and it brings back many memories from that time. I know some of the Bewitched seasons, one and two, have been altered to color. But it just doesn't do it justice. I like the natural color. Season three is in color. As it should be cause that's when the series began airing in color.


Loved the tape.

The DVD arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition. I like the packaging of the 5 discs. I started watching them almost immediately and am enjoying remembering and revisiting some of my favorite characters! I previously ordered the first season but must admit I'm enjoying season two even more! I was a fan when it was on TV and still am. It's great to be able to get the DVD's.

I got season 2 and the picture quality was fantastic and there appeared to be no cuts at all. Plus it seemed to have all the music intact. In light of that, if CBS/Paramont continues to put this series out uncut I will get every season. I loved this show as a teenager and look forward to seeing every episode uncut.

So glad to see Season 3 available on DVD. Season 1 and 2 have been available for awhile on DVD but not as a whole. The sequence of the episodes were mixed up as well has the cohesion. Maybe we will finally be getting the seasons released little by little ( though they can keep Season 9. CBS should have ended the series after the average Season 8). It is funny that the show was a #1 ratings success for the first two seasons but fell out of the top ten for season 3 which had some great episodes.

all of these mike judge collections are basically the same..

PROS:
-quick and easy way to see some quality laughs.
-price isnt too bad if you look in the right place.
-neat extras
-high replay quality
-c'mon, it STILL is beavis and butthead...at least!

CONS:
-NOT ENOUGH MUSIC VIDEOS!!!!(besides about 15 tacked on to disc 3. i know they need to get rights and all, but since when has mtv not been able to get rights music videos?)
-without these music videos, the shorts are about 5 minutes long and tend to get very repetitive.
-too many missing episodes.

bottom line:

if you dont have anything B&B, by all means get at least one of these for now. if you know that they are kinda botched and already own some of the vhs recordings and what not, you would save cash by avoiding. why would mike judge not release them all in pure unedited form? self censoring sucks! it sucks! it sucks! it sucks!

p.s. you are missing one episode on that long list that wasn't included. Inventors. that episode makes me crack up even more than a few on here.

I am very disappointed that these disks have episodes on two sides, so you must flip the disk over to get the second half of the episodes. I much prefer a lot of episodes per disk, and only one side. Otherwise, the shows are great.

The third season is three times the fun! The series just keeps on getting better.

The Bob Newhart show was one of the best comedies ever on television. The other funny show was "Newhart", which I cannot understand why it has not been released on DVD.

The whole cast just clicks. I wish shows like this were still on television.

If you enjoy a good laugh then buy this and the other sets!

This is one of my all-time favorite TV shows, but when I watched the first season I was a little disappointed. It was still good, but not as funny as I remembered. The second season was much funnier and by the third season they were clicking constantly.

The cast had really grown into their characters by this time, and nailed it time after time. The writing was outstanding, and every one of these shows was funny.

The only negative thing I have to say is that if you're looking for extras these sets will disappoint you. The only extra in this one was a 9 minute featurette, which was just Bob talking about the show. It was interesting to hear, but there wasn't much of it.

I can't wait to see season four!

Absolutely loved everything about this series from the cast to the New York setting. I watched the entire season in less than 2 days and am so disappointed to find that there is no 2nd season.

I miss this show so much! I am so excited that it is coming out on DVD. So sad that FOX cancelled this show. I hope another network picks it up. Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammer are the best!

This was one of the funniest new shows that came out of last year's lackluster season. Sharp, quick-witted one liners and the chemistry between Heaton and Grammar was undeniable. This show was destined to become a comic classic. And then it's cancelled? Are you kidding me? Who do we write to so we can see this show get back on the air? It was GREAT. I mean, it was laugh out loud funny. I don't understand Hollywood and maybe I'm not supposed to, but they let a great one get away. Good job, boneheads. All the stupid reality shows out there up to and including Paris Hilton's idiotic BFF and a show like "Back to You" is sent packing? What are you guys smoking out there in LA? Seriously. Bring this show back and prove you got some semblance to taste left.
