Speaks for its self 5 out of 5 stars.

If you like classic, long forgotten comedy story lines. If you like Andy, Barney or if you just like to laugh. This is TV with heart. There has not been many to come close to this one. Timeless does not cover it.
What else can be said. This is a must for any true classic TV library! Buy it, you'll like it!

Four of Five Possible Stars 4 out of 5 stars.

The Andy Griffith show is a classic, but Disc One forces you to sit through several minutes of commercials. There is no way to avoid them with the set up that I have. I pushed the next button on my DVD remote and nothing happened. The forced commercials are a disappointment. Manufacturers need to reconsider their marketing.

Editorial Review:

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW - THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON, is a comedy about a North Carolina widower named Andy Taylor who divides his time between raising his son, Opie (Ron Howard) and being sheriff of the small and virtually crime-free town of Mayberry. With next to no crimes to solve, Andy spends time philosophizing and trying to calm down his cousin, Deputy Barney, played by Don Knotts.

Still A Guilty Pleasure but a Little Tarnished This Season 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I sit here to write this review having seen 21 of the 22 episodes this season so as to avoid the possibility of spoilers. J.J. Abrams Alias is still a good show and a fun watch but the fourth season has lost some of the luster of the previous three. Maybe Abrams is spending too much time on his new series Lost to care what happens here maybe the network demanded too many changes in format. Hopefully some of these issues will be resolved in thhe final season.

When I started watching this show I was amazed by both the acting and the writing. It was rare to have a network show with story arcs that kept you hanging on from week to week. I was also intrigued with the idea of Milo Rambaldi. The Fourt Season took both of these interests away. In this season the network demanded simplier stories that the casual viewer could watch and forget about. The result was a sort of bad guy of the week that was more X Files than Alias. I'm not really complaining some of the stand alone episodes were excellent just not the same. When the true story of the season got going it was just a little too late to be developed properly.

the acting in the series has always been excellent and this season was no exception. Fine performances were turned in by Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin and some of the guests were quite good. Sonia Braga and Isabella Rossellini as the Derevko sisters and the return, albeit short, of Lena Olin helped save the show at a time it was desperately needed.

The six disc set by Touchstone is well designed despite the fact that the discs overlap. The picture and sound quality are excellent and the extra features are numerous. Speaking of these extras it would be nice if the commentary tracks could be spread over the entire season instead of being focused on the first episodes only.

The end result is a good season but bot great. But hey its television and a guilty pleasure all the same. Looking forward to Season Five.

"Slippery breath inside banjo melted. Runny Smoky." 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

The Aqua Teen Hunger Force is back! Follow the antics of fast food in this hilarious, offbeat, adult cartoon. There's a Shake (Master Shake), French Fries (Frylock), and a wad of hamburger (Meatwad), and they are out to save the world when they aren't floating in their neighbor's aboveground pool. Their neighbor, Carl, is a disgusting, uneducated, sloppy fat, hairy, Jersey-speaking guy who wears a sleeveless tank top, sweats, and flip-flops.

This second season introduces some new monsters while bringing back some old favorites from Season One, like the Mooninites and the Plutonians. Each episode has an introductory scene from Dr. Weird and his assistant Steve, that are hilarious but have nothing to do with the show.

DISC ONE:
1) Mail Order Bride - Carl and Shake order a Chechnyan prostitute to marry, but she locks them out of the house.
2) Super Birthday Snake - Frylock kills Shake, Meatwad, and Carl, and they come back as zombies, but it turns out to be just virtual reality.
3) Universal Remonster - The Plutonians try to steal cable from the ATHF, but instead accidentally send a universal Remonster (a teddy bear made out of TV remotes) through the "Fargate".
4) Super Bowl - Meatwad wins superbowl tickets, and Shake and Carl fight over who is taking with him.
5) Super Hero - Shake steals toxic waste from the storage facility in the river to try and turn himself into Drizzle, a superhero. "$ex with animals? There's no time, man!"
6) Super Squatter - Shake doesn't pay the bills and moves next door with Carl when the utilities are shut off.
7) Super Spore - (My favorite from Season Two!) An alien blob named Travis takes over Shake by punching a tentacle into his brain. He also pees like a sprinkler. He wants a 401K, but doesn't do well in his interview because he's "sprinkling" and talking trash.
8) Super Model - Shake gets plastic surgery in Guatemala, but needs more so he turns to one of Carl's shady friends.

DISC TWO:
1) Super Trivia - Dr. Weird talks into a microphone with his bare hinder. The ATHF plays bar trivia with Wayne The Brain McLaine.
2) Super Sir Loin - Dr. Weird grafts a deer antler to his groin. The diapered spider who appeared in Season One as MC Pee Pants is back as Sir Loin, but now he is a diapered cow with a new scheme.
3) Super Computer - Frylock designs a super computer called the OoGhIJMIQxxXA! (He says it's a Klingon word) But the ball-shaped computer travels to the past and brings back Oog the Caveman.
4) Meat Zone - Meatwad can prophesy by touching people, but its just from eating caulk thinking it was cheese.
5) Cybernetic Ghost Of Christmas Past From The Future - The ghost of Christmas past, a bird-like robot, shows up at Carl's house. Carl's pool becomes filled with elfin blood, so he sells to Danzig the devil worshiper.
-- Extras include deleted scenes, commentaries, and a music video.

Though I think I liked Season One better, Season Two has one of my all-time favorite episodes, Super Spore. Perhaps not quite as inventive as the first season, the humor is still sharp and the fast food is still crazy. If you like Family Guy, Futurama, South Park, or Invader Zim, them you should get a big kick out of ATHF (though they still should lose the annoying theme music). Enjoy!

Editorial Review:

Food products living in New Jersey go out of their minds crazy as hell. This is the story of Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad: creatures who live together, unsupervised, somewhere near the Jersey shore. Carl, their next door neighbor, has an above-ground pool and an attitude.

Fresh and Original-- the beginning of a great series 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

While it took until volume 2 to really develop the personalities, there is something uniquely special about volume 1 of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It may be that the animation is the crappiest (anybody else find the animation funny when compared to the newer, more "improved" textures?)Or it may just be that volume 1 is at hits heart a completely fresh, and genuine piece of humor. Some of the best episodes to date are found here. My personal favorites on this volume are "Dumber Dolls" and "Old Drippy," but "Escape from Leprechaupolis" and "Bus of the Undead" are close rivals.

Volume 1 will forever be a noted member of my ATHF collection, and while the series consistently got better with just about every volume, it is all the better if you watch if from the beginning.

There's no carnival in the freezer! 5 out of 5 stars.

Possibly my favorite volume of ATHF. Great for anyone who loves totally random, ridiculous humor.

creative and awesome characters. 5 out of 5 stars.

I generally dislike most cartoon type "adult" videos, but Aqua Teens are so original and the characters so believable. Very smart and humorous. Some of the later episodes are not as good as the first ones -- they seem to resort to gore and less to creative interactions and timely topics.

Humor, Ignorance...and BLISS! 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this DVD to complete the collection, and this may be the funniest one of the 4 (although season 4 itself was pretty absurd)...was shipped fast, and i still watch it until i feel my IQ has dropped 20 to 30 points.

Editorial Review:

First of all, they're not teens. Secondly, there's not water involved. The whole Hunger Force thing? That's probably misleading, too. In short, if you have to ask what "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is about, it is probably not a show for you. The rest of us will go on thrilling to the adventures of Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake as they, you know... hang out.

Ever since first viewing an episode on PBS, I have been a huge fan of "Are You Being Served?". I am quite happy with my purchase as I get to watch any episode any time I want, not having to wait until PBS waits to start showing episodes again. If you are a fan of AYBS, you can't go wrong with buying this set.

The best of British Comedy 5 out of 5 stars.

My wife never liked BBC productions until Are You Being Served was on one evening on Public Television and she sat and watched it with me while waiting for one of her programs to come on. This is now one her favorite all time productions to watch. We purchase edition and watch one show every day. It is one of the best and recommend it to anyone.

Awesome! 5 out of 5 stars.

I watched and waited for this to go on sale and jumped to purchase it. I watched this when it came on tv originally, and did not miss an episode. When I received my set, I curled up with a cup of tea, and when I heard the first line of the opening song, I felt like I was visiting with an old friend! This set is worth the money!!!

Very Funny...not 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This was my favorite season and I was looking forward to having it on DVD. Imagine the disappointment to find out after having bought it that the Play All feature was some stupid joke. As it's been stated over and over (and again here) when you select Play All, every episode is displayed on screen with it's own soundtrack. There is no way to play episodes consecutively automatically. You have to select each individual episode AND choose whether or not to have commentary on or off.

It would be a nice joke if there was actually a way to play all episodes normally. Since that's not the case, all it is annoying and very telling that Adult Swim doesn't want money as I am returning this today as soon as DVDecryptor does it's thing. Good thing I know how to re-author DVDs. Thanks Adult Swim for the free season.

Possibly the best season yet! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This show gets better and more lewd each year! Bravo!

Of particular fun is the episode Moonajuana, you have to see it to believe it! (apparently burning tires in a giant glass hookah is how Mooninites get high)

There is also one annoyance: The sellout episode featuring Boost Mobile. Though the episode is funny at times, it seems like a giant ad for the cellular service. Verdict: Douchebags sold out!

Other than that (and not enough to dampen the 5 star rating) the season is great!

Hmm.. Not Bad. Not the Best Either 3 out of 5 stars.

The final season starts slowly, but wraps up marvelously 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Warning! Some minor spoilers are contained in the following review!

Season Five of ALIAS was by far the most challenging. Although the series started off well in the ratings race, it was moved around in the schedule when the ratings slipped slightly. Its fate was probably sealed when it was briefly placed after LOST, another J. J. Abrams creation, and it failed to hold the audience. So, by Season Five, ABC had pretty much given up on the show and fairly abused it, not promoting it sufficiently and then cutting the number of episodes during the long break necessitated by Jennifer Garner's time off to have her baby and recover. Luckily, the producers were given sufficient time to create a compelling wrap up to the series. Some story arcs ended up being truncated (especially Balthazar Getty's), but in the final moments one felt as a viewer that nothing major had been unresolved.

The first half of the season was, however, tremendously uneven. Much of the problem was created by Michael Vartan's departure from the show. With his "death" and Nadia's coma, combined with Jennifer Garner's decreased mobility due to her pregnancy, the show took on an entire new tone. Élodie Bouchez, Balthazar Getty, and the absolutely splendid Rachel Nichols were all brought on board as Sydney's new compatriots, while Amy Acker (best known as Fred/Illyria on ANGEL, and who will be returning to television on Joss Whedon's new series DOLLHOUSE) was the show's new bad gal. Still, the show was always about Sydney Bristow, and with Jennifer Garner in the final months of her pregnancy and not able to get about with her former vigor, the show felt oddly stilted. But as soon as the pregnancy was over and as Garner got progressively back into ass-kicking shape, both the plot and the action racheted back up.

I won't go into plot details because no review should spoil that for anyone. Anyone who had followed the series from the beginning knew pretty much how it would end if the producers and writers were given their say. The Rambaldi endgame would be revealed. Sloane would somehow or other get his. Things would be resolved between Sydney and her mother. And one way or another Sydney would find peace in life. With no real surprises (though with many twists), that is pretty much how the series ended. While the first half of the season was one of the show's low points, the second half was ALIAS at its best and reminded we fans why we watched it all in the first place.

I loved the show's final episode. If Season One of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER hadn't already used the title "Prophecy Girl," it would have been a perfect title for one of the final two episodes. Running underneath the show in its several seasons was the idea that Sydney Bristow was a chosen one (much like Buffy or, for that matter, Max Guevara on DARK ANGEL). Her role in the culmination of Rambaldi's work had been foretold. The final episode - co-written by Jeff Pinker and one of my favorite writers on TV, Drew Goddard (earlier a writer on BUFFY and ANGEL, later on LOST, more recently known as the writer of CLOVERFIELD, and appeared this summer in a cameo in Joss Whedon's brilliant DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG as Fake Thomas Jefferson) -- was wonderfully written, both moving forward the story that had been progressing in previous episodes and summing up the series as a whole. The flashbacks to the young Sydney provided a sense of closure and also of fate to the series' end, as did the flash forward where we see Sydney's daughter Isabel display some the same abilities her mother possessed. But it also ends with a sense that Isabel isn't fated to follow in the steps of her parents and grandparents. After she quickly assembles the same geometric puzzle that her mother had as a young child, she bats it over before anyone sees what she has done, a gesture of rejection of that path and a hint that things will be different for her.

So, one of the best series of the past decade comes to a close. My own reading of TV over that time is that Buffy had made TV irreparably safe for heroic female characters. Xena and Dana Scully had anticipated what was about to happen with empowered females on TV, but without Buffy they would perhaps have been remembered as exceptions. Buffy was the character that changed all the roles. Xena was too much of a cartoon to make people accept females kicking butt as something not to be taken as exceptional. But after Buffy it has been a commonplace. But there had to be actual instances of heroic females as evidence that the rules had changed. Aeryn Sun on FARSCAPE, Max on DARK ANGEL, and Sydney Bristow were the first -- and along with Veronica Mars and Starbuck from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, still the best. When someone writes the history of heroic women on TV, there will be a pre-Buffy section mentioning characters like the 1950s Annie Oakley, Emma Peel of THE AVENGERS, Dana Scully, and Xena, then a section on Buffy, and finally the next wave. Sydney Bristow should and will get her own chapter. And what a great job Jennifer Garner did! Though not trained in martial arts, she used her considerable athleticism (and early dance training -- indeed, dance seems to be a wonderful training ground for cinematic martial artists, further proof being the absolutely astonishing fight scenes by Summer Glau in SERENITY, showing that for a prima ballerina it is just choreography) to bring Sydney Bristow to life more believable than any other female hero. In fact, to this day I've seen no TV female hero (and yes, I'm avoiding the word "heroine" intentionally -- "heroines" traditionally are anything but heroic) more physically convincing than Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow. On top of this she brought acting chops that should have earned her a string of Emmys. At least she got some nominations, unlike Lauren Graham, who astonishingly never got a single nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy when she should have won seven straight times.

So a wonderful end to a great series. One reason I've just rewatched this series was in anticipation of J. J. Abrams's next major series, THE FRINGE. Hopefully that one will follow in the footsteps of this great show.
