Editorial Review:

It was a desperate and frustrating search: 9-1-1 operators and police struggled to locate Michael Wamsley and girlfriend Janelle Hornickel, who were wandering aimlessly during a blinding Nebraska snowstorm. The couple, it turns out, were high on methamphetamine, or "crystal meth," which left them lost and hopelessly confused. Cynthia McFadden talks with Wamsley and Hornickel's friends and family about how the childhood sweethearts found themselves in this dire situation. The couple's story is an allegory for so many who have lost their way to this dangerous drug, which is more powerful and addictive than ever. Correspondent: Cynthia McFadden

Editorial Review:

China's leaders give the impression of religious tolerance, even as they are cracking down hard on followers of those faiths the government does not approve. In 2001, the US State Department issued its annual report on human rights conditions around the world. In scathing language, the report accused China of intensifying its crackdown on religion, especially on practitioners of the outlawed spiritual movement known as Falun Gong. China disputed that conclusion, stating that, "There are no underground churches in China." However, in addition to the alleged persecution of Falun Gong followers, many Chinese Christians too have been forced to worship together secretly in basements and barns for fear of being found out. Editorial Review:

In the 1990s Ecstasy seemed to come out of nowhere to join marijuana, cocaine and heroin as one of the four most widely used illegal drugs in the country. No other drug has ever spread so fast. "Peter Jennings Reporting - Ecstasy Rising" tells the definitive story of how an obscure compound, discovered in 1912 and all but forgotten for over 60 years, became the drug of choice for a generation. "Ecstasy Rising" includes significant original reporting and first-time interviews with all the major players: the chemist who first reported the effects of Ecstasy; the California psychotherapists who treated patients with Ecstasy when it was still legal; the Dallas businessman who gave Ecstasy its name and turned it into a recreational drug; the drug enforcement officer who led the fight to make Ecstasy illegal; and the DJ who spread Rave and Ecstasy across America. Editorial Review:

Jack Smith, a veteran of the battle at Ia Drang, talks of the battle that would change the course of history and the lives of all the men who were in the battle. This is the story of the men who fought, of their remarkable heroism, and of their journey back to the battlefield, which, in a way, they never really left. In the Battle of la Drang, the U.S. 7th Cavalry, outnumbered and under siege, uses Huey helicopters for the first time and the strategic B-52 bombing becomes a battlefield standard.

Ferdinand Starbuck's Review 4 out of 5 stars.

Not as enjoyable as Stewart's show. Still, loved the satire enjoyed the visuals could live without the rampant vulgarity. I'd planned to leave the book out for my two teenage children to enjoy, but concluded they're too young for it.

Editorial Review:

He's not only funny, but he manages to weave the news of the day into a topical humor that doesn't easily offend. It's not an easy trick, but Jon Stewart pulls it off on "The Daily Show," a satire of a daily news broadcast that borders on parody. What you'll immediately learn from Stewart's interview with ABC New is that the road to comedy stardom is paved with an assortment of odd jobs -- shelf stocker at Woolworth's, bakery worker, puppet master and, believe it or not, mosquito sorter.

Editorial Review:

There's agreement that it exists, that global warming is a worldwide problem, but at issue is the urgency of the problem. ABC News correspondent Bill Blakemore spoke to the world's most prominent biologists, whose primary concern is survival of species. Blakemore traveled to the forests of Costa Rica and across the planet to the mountains of Madagascar to see first-hand how different species of frogs, butterflies and orchid plants are impacted by the higher temperatures.

Editorial Review:

You think it's easy being a multi-millionaire NBA star? Before you answer that question, you need to know the back story. Stephon Marbury grew up in Apartment 4G in the Coney Island projects of New York with his four brothers, two sisters and parents. They were called the first family of basketball in Coney Island. For a variety of reasons, the brothers' dreams of making it to the NBA were never realized. But after a year of college, Stephon was drafted at age 19. He made it to the big show. It's a long way from the New York projects to his sprawling mansion and the third of a million-dollar Bentley convertible Marbury drives outside of Phoenix. He not only takes care of his parents, brothers and sisters, as well as his two daughters and wife, he has poured a lot back into the community he grew up in -- with charity events, summer tournaments and a basketball camp where he brings needy kids to Upstate New York. There's also the arrest for drunk driving. And he's fathered children out of wedlock. Marbury calls himself "a role model and a human being." Correspondent: Michel Martin.

The News as we saw it on that day 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

If you want to remember what information was availible on the day the market dropped this is a great DVD. It is a collection of the ABC news broadcasts from that day. It picks up with the market close and goes through the nightly news that night. You can look at a chart to see how big the drop was and what happend over the next few weeks, but this lets you hear what was on the news that day and what people were saying on that day. Anyone can predict a drop a year or two later when we have time to put it all together, this only gives you the information that was avalible that night. It is a great reminder of what we knew at the time.

Editorial Review:

It was a day that recorded the biggest percentage decline in the history of Wall Street: 22 percent. That was double the drop during the famed stock market crash of 1929, but there were many differences between the two events, as you will see from interviews with Charles Schwab, Robert Hormats, as well as ABC News reports from the opening of the Asian markets. ABC News takes you back to October 19, 1987.

Not 42 minutes!! 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I can't believe that I put this in and sat down to watch a 42 minute DVD and it ended up being around 15 minutes. I don't know why it says the run time is 42 minutes. The 15 minutes is interesting, but not worth $20. What a dissapointment!!

Editorial Review:

If there's one thing most children hate to be, it's different. The children ABC News profiled feel that way. They're bright and they're adorable and they're articulate. But they're often stared at in public because of their strange behavior, and they can't help it. They're victims of Tourette's Syndrome, a condition with eye - catching symptoms. As John Stossel discovered, this bizarre disorder is devastating for adults, so imagine what it does to children.
