Editorial Review:

We live in a hyphenated society. Most of us came from another land, at least our parents or grandparents or their parents or grandparents did. But it's generally easier to blend into American society when your skin color or facial features don't telegraph part of your identity. And identity is something that matters deeply to David Henry Hwang, the Tony Award-winning playwright who brought "M Butterfly" to Broadway. His work isn't exclusively about being Asian-American, but it's a theme he returns to often. Correspondent: John Yang.

Children raised by their Grandparents. 3 out of 5 stars.

This was a well done documentary about grandparents raising/adopting their grandchildren. That said it wasn't very helpful to me as my situation was very different from the families portrayed in the film.

Tough Times 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a very sensitive documentary and captured my heart. The content focused only on the poor, innercity child of color though. I wish it had broadened its scope and included children and grandparents from all walks of life.

I am grandmom/mom - we adopted our 7 year old grandson in December of 2007. Yes, we are white, yes we make a combined income of over 80K a year, and yes we live in suburbia in a newer home and drive newer automobiles. But, drugs affected the lives of the parents and long story short, we his grandparents, ended up here at this place today when we should be planning our retirement.

I would have liked to see more interaction, ideas, solutions, and support integrated into this documentary rather than the hopelessness that it portrayed.

Editorial Review:

They are a generation of children whose parents have essentially vanished, lost to drug abuse, incarceration, mental illness and other social problems. Filling the void for an estimated 4.5 million of these American kids are their grandparents, often forced into duty armed with few resources beyond their wisdom and devotion. In a powerful hour-long report, "Primetime Live" explores the stories of four of these families living in Newark, New Jersey, a city that has one of the nation's highest concentrations of youth being reared by grandparents -- many in poverty and typically do not receive the amount of government funds provided to foster parents.

There was very little technical information in the short film clip. If I had been able to preview it I would not have purchased it.

Editorial Review:

In an unparalleled call to action, Diane Sawyer and the resources of ABC News look at the crisis of the foster care system and at ways children can be saved. Sawyer casts a light on young fractured lives, as she takes a rare look at foster care across the country. With unprecedented access -- bringing cameras where they have never been before - she explores a system many consider broken, but one that is struggling to change. According to the latest statistics, just over 800,000 children pass through the system every year, more than 500,000 of whom are taken into foster care. For them, the average length of stay is 31 months. A third are in the system for more than three years. In addition to "Primetime," the DVD contains this extended reporting: * Nightline's Cynthia McFadden follows young people who are aging out of foster care, with nowhere to go and few resources. * 20/20 takes a second look at a thriving program to help get foster children placed for adoption by having professionals photograph them.

Editorial Review:

Did you light up a cigarette today? Did someone you love? Despite everything we know about the dangers of cigarettes, we're raising a whole new generation of smokers in this country. And, increasingly, they are young women. What most people don't know is this: cigarettes are much more deadly for women than men. It's tobacco's smokey little secret; women who smoke get sicker and get sicker sooner than men who smoke. If you compare a man and a woman with similar smoking habits, women are twice as likely to die. Lung cancer claims the lives of more than 67,000 women a year. Think about that the next time you pick up a cigarette or see your favorite actress light up on the big screen. Dr. Nancy Snyderman explores the reasons why women smoke.

Editorial Review:

An estimated 4 million women and 2 million men across the country suffer from trichotillomania, "trich" for short. Doctors aren't sure what causes trichotillomania. It usually starts in early adolescence. Researchers speculate that it's caused by a grooming gene gone berserk. Despite what it looks like, it's not self-mutilation, it's not triggered by trauma, and because there are no obsessive thought patterns involved, it is not considered an obsessive-compulsive disorder. Instead, trich is a "body focus disorder," similar to severe nail biting or extreme skin picking. People feel very ashamed of their pulling," says Jennifer Raikes, who suffers from a relatively mild form of trich and has made a documentary film, Bad Hair Life, about the disorder. Filming a support group she helped form, Raikes captured a startling glimpse into the hidden world of trich. This "20/20" show contains the following additional stories: Where's the Pork? Editorial Review:

A small conservative town in Oklahoma confronts the issue of gay rights as one of its own evokes the wrath of an outside hate group. Michael Shackelford loves his truck. And he loves Merle Haggard. Not unusual for an 18-year-old in Sand Springs, Okla. But Michael still stands out from the crowd -- because he is gay. In the "Buckle of the Bible Belt," that's still a big deal. Michael's mother desperately wants him to change, because she knows if he doesn't, they won't end up in heaven together. Michael's pastor has made it his mission to "make Michael see the truth" about homosexuality: that it is a sin and he must change in order to inherit the Kingdom of God. And Michael's peers at his high school have been none too kind. What transpired was remarkable and surprising, not least to Michael Shackelford. Correspondent: Ted Koppel
