Editorial Review:

One of M*A*S*H's best and must-own seasons marked a turning point for this Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning series. It would be the last for peerless comedy writer Larry Gelbart (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Tootsie), who developed M*A*S*H for television and served as the series' comic voice, conscience, and beating heart. But this old soldier did not just fade away. He concluded his tour with "The Interview," the stunning season finale and a series benchmark. This black-and-white episode, which he wrote and directed, features Clete Roberts interviewing the members of the 4077th (with the notable exception of Loretta Swit's Major Houlihan) about life and death at the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (a special citation to William Christopher as Father Mulcahy, who provides the episode's most dramatic moment reflecting on how the doctors warm themselves on the steam that rises from the patients' open wounds).

Reporting for duty in season 4 is Mike Farrell as B.J. Hunnicutt, a welcome replacement for the departed Wayne Rogers. In the Emmy-winning season opener, "Welcome to Korea," Hawkeye (Alan Alda) takes the overwhelmed B.J. under his wing. By episode's end, he is drunk and addressing the insufferable "head twerp" Major Burns (Larry Linville) as "ferret face." The second episode brings a "Change of Command" with the arrival of Henry Morgan as Col. Potter, "regular Army," but compassionate and capable. The Gelbart years were distinguished by the deft balancing of comedy and drama (M*A*S*H is that rare comedy series that plays better without a laugh track, which this set offers as a viewing option). In the Gelbart-directed episode "Quo Vadis, Captain Chandler?," a wounded bomber pilot identifies himself as Jesus Christ. Gelbart also directed and co-wrote "Hawkeye," an Alda tour de force in which Hawkeye takes refuge with a non-English-speaking South Korean family after overturning his jeep and sustaining a concussion, requiring him to talk nonstop to keep from losing consciousness. The departure of key creative and ensemble personnel would be enough to fatally wound a lesser series, but M*A*S*H would solider on. --Donald Liebenson

I wish T.V. was still like this 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is an excellent T.V. series. In a time were T.V. is all about sex and violence, I find I have to go back a few years and revisit shows like Dr. Quinn that were safe, and yes, always had a happy ending. I recommend this to any family or any person, like me, who can't find a t.v. show with a decent story-line to get into.

CC 3 out of 5 stars.

LOVED IT 5 out of 5 stars.

It has been years since I have seen this show and I was sad when they took it off the air. When I found it on DVD I just had to have it. I look on several different sites to find it and Amazon, has the best price for this product.

No captions; no subtitles 4 out of 5 stars.

We just watched the pilot episode and enjoyed it thoroughly. BUT there is no close-captioning and no subtitles. Not for the deaf or hard-of-hearing. We would have paid more to have that feature.

Love this series!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

Emergency really hit home with me when I was a kid because my Dad is a fireman/paramedic. It always made me feel like I could share a part of my Dad's work life because he was very quiet, at least around me, about the things that happened at work. As an adult, with a sister who is now in the department, watching this show is kinda funny because of how advanced we have become. (No longer are there separate ambulances that come to transport the patient to the hospital.) The scenery/costuming, etc. is also neat to me because it is so 70's. The fx are cheesy because, again as an adult, I can tell it's not real, but to my eyes as a child, it was as real as could be. The actors, specifically Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe, have great chemistry and worked well together. Keeping in mind that the show was set in the era of sex, drugs and rock n'roll, it's a really good show. Has some comedy and lots of drama/action. Anyone who likes the actors or anything to do with the fire department will most likely enjoy this series.

Editorial Review:

Korea, 1950. They were a MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) unit stationed three miles from the front. Incoming helicopters full of wounded brought the horrors of war to them daily and sometimes bullets flew right outside the operating room door. Occasional hilarity and constant hijinks were all that kept them sane.

Loosely based on real-life MASH unit 8055, life at the 4077 revolved around the day-to-day routines of Captain "Hawkeye" Pierce, Captain "Trapper" McIntyre, Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake, Major Margaret Houlihan, Major Franklin Burns and Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly. Through these characters, viewers traveled beyond the long hours and the horrors of the operating room to a place where friendships were forged, laughter was found and drinks were served.

Quincy 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We enjoyed watching the seasons 1 & 2, the pictures were very clear;however, when we got to the last DVD that had the most shows on it we were disappointed that our DVD player did not want to play it. It seems as though there were marks on the DVD and cleaning it didin't seem to help. The DVD stayed in the case in a drawer until we were ready to view it so we find it highly unlikely it was anything we did to the DVD ourselves. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Excellent. This is NOT a CSI show. 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I see a lot of comparisons to CSI, but let's face it - Quincy is not that. CSI is an entertaining show, but it's filled with two-dimensional men with bulging muscles, women with low-cut blouses, and labs that are lit with dramatic lighting & lots of pretty decorations. When was the last time you walked into a lab that looks like that?!?!? In a word, CSI is T&A and pretty sets - Shallow.

Quincy is all heart.

Quincy works in a boring, sterile, white-colored laboratory that is dull in appearance, but Jack Klugman pours his heart into the character and makes the show exciting. As Quincy says to a bunch of college students, "You may not have any interest in forensics, but I do, and I am passionate about my work. If you have no interest in this class, leave now so I can go back to doing what I love." Quincy loves solving the mystery, loves overcoming obstacles, and loves catching the bad guy.

Passion. Dedication. Morality. That's what sets Quincy above the CSI clones and made it one of the most successful series on television (8 years worth of episodes). Don't mistake this for CSI - Quincy is better than that.

MASH is one of those shows thats funny even if you were not yet born when the show was on the air. its just plain funny, even the more serious episodes when the show was in its later years were funny in their own way, MASH will never die.

fantastic 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a Christmas gift. My daughter loved it. It was completely viewed by New Years. She loved all the interviews and specials.

Best running series EVER!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've said it once and I'll say it again.
This was by far the best running series EVER!!!!
The only unfortunate move that FOX made was to release one Season at a time to suck all the die hard fans in and then release a classy compilation (Medicine and Martinis) and tempt everyone to ebay the individual Seasons and spend another $180 for that one!!!!
Cie la vie I'm stubborn and will hold on to my original copies.

Damaged DVDs spoiled the experience of movies 4 out of 5 stars.

I love having almost all of the MASH DVDs. However, the last order I placed had a couple DVDs that would not play. Amazon has a GREAT return policy. Unfortunately, when I returned it and received a replacement, I had the same problem. Again, Amazon received my return and will credit my credit card account. I have had very good luck up to this point and I do not blame Amazon. Amazon customer service A+++ Quality of DVD not so good.

Dr Quinn medicine woman second season 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I always enjoyed the Dr.Quinn series. One of the best episodes is found in season two., where Mike and Sully end up in Boston and find they love each other. I am very pleased to beable to buy each season separately, from amazon.com

As original as the first series 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The second series of Dr. Quinn are as original and sparkling as the first series. Dr. Quinn and Sully officially start courting which provides the watchers with hilarious and touching moments as both are strong and independent characters but eventually learn to depend on each other. Especially the episode called 'the Abduction' reveals how fond they are of each other. All the other characters (the same as in the first series) star as well. It is delightful to watch Mr. Bray and Brian together, and to see how other characters develop.

There is only one annoying thing about this series. In the second series, and this already was the case when the episodes premiered on television in 1994 and 1995, episodes are sometimes awkwardly ordered. When Dr. Quinn and Sully officially start courting after the journey to Boston an episode aired, in which a woman who has lived with Indians for several years falls in love with Sully. This reveals a dissapointed and jealous Michaela. Sully, however, tells her that nothing has happened between him and the woman (it was she that kissed him) and that he only loves her. Michaela tells him that he has really hurt her feelings but their love survives. So far so good, but then the very next episode is about Dr. Quinn and the Reverend who after taking care of orphan children seriously consider to marry. This is just impossible after the previous episode. Sully does not speak throughout the episode but he does see Michaela and the Reverend kiss. Where does this come from? This episode is essentially not bad at all and reveals how people in the 18th and 19th century treated orhpan children but it should have been included in the first series when Dr. Quinn and Sully still think they are too different to court.

Technically, the absence of subtitles is a minor drawback. I do not often miss a line but sometimes there's a lot of action going on and you must really strain your ears and eyes to hear and see what the characters are saying.

Great show over priced set 1 out of 5 stars.
35 of 56 people found this review helpful.

I have found similar sets for a fraction than what's being asked for here. Unfortunately I was unable to get my hands on a set before it went flying off the shelves so I came looking for it here at Amazon. Here I find the only set available is outrageously over priced so much so that when divided by three the average price for each season is well over what each season actually costs. Nice job seller!

Editorial Review:

Go deeper into the medical mysteries of House, TV's most compelling new drama, as Season One, Two and Three come to DVD! Hugh Laurie stars as the brilliant, but sarcastic Dr. Gregory House, a maverick physician who is devoid of bedside manner. While his behavior can border on antisocial, Dr. House thrives on the challenge of solving the medical puzzles that other doctors give up on. Together with his hand-picked team of young medical experts, he'll do whatever it takes in the race against the clock to solve the case. Check out each gripping episode featuring some of TV's hottest guest stars, including Carmen Electra, Chi McBride, Scott Foley and Sela Ward. It's the intriguing new series TV Guide's Matt Roush hails as "the uncommon cure for the common medical drama."

The Show is GREAT, but the DVD is not 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The episodes were very good, but the quality of the picture and sound, while not nearly as bad as season 4's, were not as good as seasons 1&2. I had to return this set, because disc 3 was defective, and would not even play. Amazon was good and quick getting a replacement sent. I hope season 5 will be a lot better.

I am German and I was pretty happy to find this show at amazon.com. In Germany this show is not going to be released on DVD.
The quality of the DVD is pretty good. I was told that the sound quality was poor, but I cannot confirm that.
All in all I am higly satisfied and can hardly await the remaining seasons to be released on DVD
