FRASIER - THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON is a half-hour comedy series set in Seattle, which chronicles the lives of an eloquently pompous radio show host, Dr. Frasier Crane, (Grammer), his competitive, high-brow brother Niles (Hyde Pierce), their crotchety father Martin (Mahoney) and Martin's semi-psychic, live-in home-care provider, Daphne (Leeves). The show made history by becoming the first series, comedy or drama, to achieve a record five consecutive Emmy wins for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Based on a true-life story, TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is a loving memoir to a man whose lessons on life have much to teach us about ourselves. Academy Award(R)-winner Jack Lemmon (Best Actor, 1974, SAVE THE TIGER) delivers an outstanding performance as Morrie Schwartz, the Brandeis University professor upon whom the best-selling book is based. Hank Azaria (GODZILLA) plays Mitch, an accomplished journalist so driven by his job, he has little time or energy left for anything else. One night, Mitch happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a national news program and learns his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's disease. After the telecast, Mitch contacts Morrie, and what starts as a visit turns into a pilgrimage as Mitch opens his heart to the lessons Morrie has to teach him. As the bond grows between these two men, Mitch learns that professional commitments don't mean anything without the love of family and friends. Sure to inspire, TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE may just change your views on the meaning of life ... forever.

I LOVE Fraiser. It is witty and classic. If you want a normal, fiesty, humor filled series you have found it in Fraiser. David Hyde Pierce and Kelsey Grammer are great together to make life really funny and realistic for their life style. I can't get enough!!!!!!!

I own all the seasons except the first and last, and I've had them for a while and viewed them multiple times. As a general comment, I think Seasons 2-5 are consistently better than the seasons that come after. If you see George Rannie's review on Season 6, I agree with much of what he says, especially after having recently viewed the seasons backwards, from Season 6 to Season 5. The humor of Season 5 and before has a more "natural" feel, the setups are more realistic, and the humor, as in previous seasons, is more often subtle and cerebral. Although I'm not getting rid of my Seasons 6-8-- the quality overall is still good, if you're a Frasier fan-- I'm happiest with everything up to and including Season 5.

Disappointing. Phony. Trite. Historically inaccurate. 2 out of 5 stars.
0 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Unfortunately, I found this movie predictable and trite. My 14-year-old walked out in the middle because it was boring, we knew what the ending would be and the acting and script were not compelling.
The movie was also anachronistic (ie historically inaccurate). If you know anything about the pioneer period of American history you will find this low-budget film grating. The producers/directors did not bother to get anything correct- costumes, cabin props, barn construction, language and role of women/children in the period. Again, it was so blatant that my 14-year-old also found the historical inaccuracies so intolerable that we spent more time noting these than watching the story line. One minor example of the history issues- the main character is wearing a modern bra with a shoulder clip clearly visible when her blouse (also not historical costume) gets wet.
I am all for the idea of family-friendly stories and I love the stories of pioneer America. But this knowledge and love for true pioneer stories is why I could not appreciate this movie-- I know too much about the period to have this phony imitation of a pioneer situation ring true.

Editorial Review:

Based on Janette Oke's best-selling book series, and directed by Michael Landon Jr., Loves Comes Softly is inspired story-telling for the whole family. Marty and Aaron Claridge (Katherine Heigl and Oliver Macready) travel west in search of new opportunity. But when tragedy strikes and Marty is suddenly widowed, the young woman must face the rugged terrain, bleak weather, and life among strangers-alone. That is until a handsome widower named Clark Davis ( Dale Midkiff) suggests a platonic "marriage of convenience" until Marty can return home. As the months pass, through, Marty and Clark discover an unexpected new love where there was once only loss.

I was extremely happy with my purchase of the Tuskagee Aiman as I hunted high and low and Amazon was the only one that had it ,so you can understand how happy I was when I put it in the DVD player and I got a message saying it would't play. This was unfortunate especially for me and I realise that it isn't your fault. These things happen sometimes when people buy from overseas.but that's the way it goes.I would be most happy to have written a good review but this time I can't.

The Tuskegee Airmen: Both Historic and Dramatic 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Historically accurate? Pretty close. The Tuskegee Airmen is a 1995 film based on a World War II fighter squadron called the Tuskegee Airmen. This fighter squadron was the first all black fighter squadron in the U.S. Air Force. It was first activated on March 19, 1941 in Rantoul, Illinois and was called the 99th Pursuit (later, Fighter) Squadron. Later, it moved to the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. The 99th began missions in North Africa, mainly doing ground attack missions. It later joined the 332nd Fighter Group with three other all black fighter squadrons. Since they joined the 332nd, their missions changed to bomber escort. Much of the film was based on this information.

Most of the events and people in the film were based on their historic counterpart. Almost all of the characters are fictional, but are based on real people. Only two people were real, them being Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. (Andre Braugher) and Eleanor Roosevelt. The other main characters, such as Hannibal Lee (Laurence Fishburne), were representations of real Tuskegee Airmen and the events that they went through. An example of this representation is when Hannibal takes Mrs. Roosevelt up in his training airplane; this is based on Charles Alfred Anderson taking the real Eleanor Roosevelt in his training airplane. Despite this accuracy, some details were left out. An example is the fact that Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. was the real commander of the 99th, although this is not pointed out until the North Africa campaign. He was actually placed in command of the 99th since its activation. Another element of the film's historic accuracy was its use of WWII footage. A great deal of the fighter scenes made use of WWII footage. It gives the film a bit of authenticity. The film also films along side the fighters, giving a person the feeling of flying with the fighters, while looking out the cockpit.

In addition to this feeling of authenticity the film also shows how bad the racism was for blacks at the time. Racism did play a part in the making the 99th fight in WWII. An example was a committee that was considering whether the "experiment" was worth the go ahead. Some committee members did submit a scientific paper that said that black people do not have the intelligence to operate complex machinery, but the majority of the committee voted in favor of the Airmen. What added to the effects of racism was the acting. An example is when three of the main characters were forced to move to the back of the train in order to make room for German POWs. The characters showed great surprise and anger, but kept that to themselves like many blacks probably did at the time. All of the actors had also clearly displayed the pride and determination that many of the Airmen had. An example is when Leroy Cappy (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) was about to give up trying to graduate from the Air Force academy, but Lee, Walter Peoples (Allen Payne), and Billy Roberts (Cuba Gooding Jr.) put pride back into Cappy by questioning him if he was going to give up as if they were Cappy's commanding officers. After this, Lee, Cappy, Roberts, and others graduated from the academy despite growing pressure from racism.

Despite little details missing or slightly altered, this film is a tightly wrapped package. It represented what really happened with the 99th with few elements and details changed. It used real footage from WWII, along with footage from its own production. It used racism to show how the airmen were treated, despite the fact that they were going out to fight a war for a country that discriminates against them. This film strived for historical accuracy.

Editorial Review:

Featuring an all-star cast headed by Laurence Fishburne, fireballs of high speed air action explode off the screen in this exciting story of the "Fighting 99th," the first squadron of black American pilots to be allowed to fight for their country. Based on the true story.

Outstanding 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Saw this movie first on the A&E network. Just came across it channel surfing. After watching a part I looked til it was on again and watched the whole thing. It was outstanding. Rick Schroder is excellent in this performance. This is a story of a battle largely unheard of in the history books.

Lose No Time, buy this at Once 5 out of 5 stars.

Every bit as good as I remember it from when it first appeared on television. Rick Shroder is fantastic and all the characters have depth and believability. The back and forth between the enlisted men, the genuine love they have for one another, reminds me of my relationships with my comrades in Vietnam.

This is a very poignant telling of a true tale, a tale of how individual courage and commitment to one's comrades, bring meaning to what otherwise would have been an awful waste of life in a war of Trench warefare where wasted lives were the norm.

how could they make this junk? 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 9 people found this review helpful.

The true story of the Lost Battalion is an amazing tale, far more so than this schlock. Historically, this is a poor retelling. They also screw around and do lots of incorrect uniforms, insignia, equipment and in general alter relaity to make it "a cool story" on a low budget.

You want to know what really happened? go read "Finding the Lost Battalion.

This does no justice to the men who were there, who deserve far better than this poorly written and produced cheap production. Charles Whittlesey
is a hero of mine. A man to be respected for both his wartime serivce and the price he paiud afterwards. THIS is not Whittlesey.

I do not think I have ever been more disapointed by a film. Go watch What Price Glory if you want to see some WW1 stuff, or either version of all quiet on the western front.

HSM2: Deluxe Dance Edition--Truly Deluxe! 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I was amazed by the amount of extras on this 2-Disc DVD set. What a fantastic set--with over 5 hours of bonus material. The story is typically light-hearted fun as you would expect from this franchise. It's the last day of school, and all your favorite East High Wildcats are counting down the seconds for the final bell that tells them it's finally summer! The rousing opening song is "What Time Is It?" and gets the movie off to a high energy start. Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), and the gang must get summer jobs; meanwhile, Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) wants to get Troy a job at her country club, Lava Springs, so that he can sing with her at the talent show and become her new boyfriend. Unbeknownst to her, the club's manager, Mr. Fulton (Mark L. Taylor), has to hire the entire gang to get Troy...including Troy's girlfriend Gabriella. Sharpay does everything she can to break the two up, including setting Zac up with a sweet college scholarship. Can Zac resist?

Visually, this movie is a technicolor feast that harks back to the Esther Williams/Busby Berkeley musicals of MGM. One of the most spectacular numbers if "Fabulous," sung by Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) as she lets everyone at the pool know that she has impossibly high standards. Her brother, played by Lucas Grabeel, is dolled up like Elton John and plays a pink piano in the shallow end of the pool while wearing a white tux with hot pink lapels. Definitely classic!

Spec-wise, the DVD audio is a speaker blowing Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and the video is full-frame. Sure, for those with 16x9 or widescreen TVs it's a disappointment. However, this movie was originally shown on the Disney Channel, and as you can clearly see in the behind-the-scenes documentaries (as you look over the shoulder of the camera and see the framing), this movie was COMPOSED for full-screen, even though there was spillover frame to fill out a widescreen. Minor quibbling point...still a great piece of entertainment suitable for ALL ages.

Now onto the extras...there's a ton! You get a great sneak-peak at High School Musical 3 (which will actually debut in theaters), which shows that the whole gang is back, along with three newcomers (looks like Sharpay may have some competition in the conniving department from the new girl). There are also some deleted scenes; although they were trimmed for the right reasons, one does explain a little bit of how Gabriela got to the Country Club for the talent show. Backstage Disney also gives you High School Confidential, an assortment of LOTS of featurettes such as:
*Manly the Dog: director Kenny Ortega's dog who has a featured spot in the movie as Sharpay's pampered pet.
*Sharpettes: Sharpay's sidekicks, featured in the "Fabulous" number
*Hilarious one about Ashley Tisdale; all her costars say she is like Sharpay, even though she protests. Very cute.
*Zac Factor: All about Zac Efron
*Special photo gallery where you can guess what baby photos match your fave HSM star.
*The Making Of "HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A."
*Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus is actually in HSM2; never knew that until I saw the featurette about her cameo!
*Cast Favorites: The stars dish (except for Zac who is not in this one) about their favorite singers, movie actors, desserts, and more.
*On Location - Visit the resort area of St. George, Utah
*In The Kitchen - Lucas Grabeel takes fans behind the scenes of the clubhouse kitchen set.

In the Music & More section you get:
*Dance Along: follow along to the moves of "What Time is it?" and "All For One." You'll be doing these dances in no time by following multiple camera angles.
*Music Video "All For One" - A special performance of the song is intercut with the cast recording session and behind-the-scenes footage.

And lots more! All HSM fans should add this one to their collections!

The Best Year of Frasier 5 out of 5 stars.

This season has few lulls and every episode is great and memorable. It is also the first season where Daphne learns about Niles' feelings for her. Daphne and Donny are planning to marry and Simon, Daphne's brother makes a visit. One of the funniest episodes is when the Cranes go on a trip to Oregon in a Winnebago. Niles crawls in the wrong the Winnebago at a rest stop and gets taken on a long trip, then steals it. All so the guys can celebrate the millennium in a cabin in the country.

Fraiser 5 out of 5 stars.
