I bought this collection to use in teaching my communication courses at the graduate level.

I show segments from the 2057s in my Human Communication on the Internet course. Some students find some of the ideas disturbing, but all students find the information thought-provoking. The presentations of the 2057s are a little cheezy, but the content is great. The 2057s DVDs are a great way to help students picture the possible future of the Internet and computer use.

The giant panda special is one of the best ever made. Now follow me on this, if my veterinarian-daughter helps with the artificial insemination, then she's at least a little bit the father, and I'm the grandmother. (grin) They filmed this baby's life from planning through the first year, and it is the best documentary done on the topic of the giant panda. Plus, he's the cutest grandbaby ever!

I use Mythbusters as discussion prompts for teaching experimental research. By showing segments by these guys--and doing some of the experiments in class. We have a fun way to discuss the scientific method, variables, and other principles from the research. The students love the Myth Busters, and it makes an excellent prompt for discussing research and experimentation.

Bourdain is the best host out there. This is the only travel show I watch because it is not typical. He is witty, intelligent and funny. He tries to connect to the people he is meeting not just show the most popular spots.

If you like this read any of his books

Editorial Review:

The irreverent and irascible Anthony Bourdain is out of the kitchen, out of the hotel, past the tourists, and headed out for culinary adventure. He's on a globe-hopping journey, hitting the streets in search of authentic flavors and experiences. Willing to go anywhere and try anything, Anthony - featured exclusively on Travel Channel - is out to experience destinations from the streets and local point of view. With food as his passport, Anthony gains entry to cultures around the world: with No Reservations. Episode 11: Anthony's Japanese adventure begins in Osaka at an underground bar devoted to the hardcore fans of the local baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers. Then he goes to the Kiso Valley for some relaxation, and eats some tuna belly and roe at a tiny sushi bar. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Editorial Review:

Best selling author, reluctant food celebrity guy, culinary adventurer, drinker, smoker, hedonist....the list of descriptors could go on and on... but one thing is certain: In this food-obsessed world, Anthony Bourdain has carved out a distinct place as a gastronomic Indiana Jones. His quest for the perfect dining experience was smartly documented in his television series and book, "A Cooks Tour." And now Bourdain's journey is shifting to the next course. In Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, his journey takes him to people and places far beyond the realm of food. Following his wanderlust will take the audience to far out and familiar places from Iceland to New Zealand and Paris to New Jersey. As Anthony Bourdain is and has been a professional chef and writer for over three decades, his starting point of view will always reflect that experience. But in Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, anti-celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is out of the kitchen... on the road... no holds barred. Episode 13: Anthony Bourdain is on a mission to obtain personal enlightenment, and his travels bring him to Peru, a land of ancient culture, rich cuisine, and vibrant people. He dines in Lima, meets members of a Peruvian Eseeja tribe in the jungle, and much more. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Each episode presents an entertaining "story" of up to two different hotel destinations, complete with encounters and eccentricities that creatively show and tell what makes each hotel a great experience. Episode 8: Las Vegas - a city that thrives on superlatives. Samantha Brown is on her way to a hotel that is one of the newer additions to the Las Vegas skyline, an experience a hotel that even by Vegas standards is in a class of its own: Bellagio. Bellagio was built to provide another dimension to Las Vegas: exquisite and sophisticated elegance and beauty.
