With the help of top-notch stylists and a budget of $5,000, this program will provide life-changing fashion intervention to people nominated by friends/family as someone who desperately needs a style overhaul! TLC secretly films the fashion offender to catch them in their natural environment so the stylists can evaluate their fashion foibles. Then, the stylists confront the person and reveal their plan to teach them WHAT NOT TO WEAR. The team then sorts through the person's current wardrobe, exposes them to a literal 360-degree view of themselves, and provides them with rules for maximizing their best assets and personal style. Armed with these guidelines and $5,000, the person hits the shops. After a consultation with the fashion stylists on these new clothing choices, along with a dramatic hair and makeup revamp, viewers will see a complete transformation and a stunning reveal.

Vogue magazine has described this studio as 'the most fashionable place to learn to dance in New York'. And though the venue may be fashionable, Melanie certainly isn't. She left fashion behind when she stopped competing, and now wears ill-fitting clothes - some too tight and some too baggy. And worst of all, she only wears one color - black! In this special episode of 'What Not To Wear', Clinton and Stacy have one week to bring the sparkle and color back into her wardrobe, and to convince monochromatic Melanie that stepping off the competitive dance floor doesn't have to mean stepping off the fashion catwalk.

Stacy and Clinton will have to get Matt out of his endless array of shorts and get him into long trousers and properly buttoned shirts. But as Matt thinks grown-up clothes are restricting, they will need all their powers of persuasion. Hairstylist Nick Arrojo thinks Matt's hair is not making the most of his boyish good looks; and, as he's entering his forties, make-up artist Carmindy comes up with a regime to ensure Matt fends off fine lines and wrinkles.

Episode 6: Jennifer Freeman is a 25 year-old new mother and a successful a full-time nurse. With a great husband and a loving family, why is Jennifer still dressing like she's 14? Perhaps it has something to do with her love of shopping in the juniors' section; or maybe it's her habit of wearing either clothes so big that she drowns or outfits so small that her daughter could soon start wearing them. Stacy and Clinton have to help this young lady's wardrobe catch up with the rest of her life, while Nick takes care of some overgrowth on the top of her head. With so much change in the works, only one question still remains: is this Southern belle ready to part with her very familiar ways and learn What Not To Wear?
