Bought this for my son and he has watched it over and over again. Loves it and laughs all the time while watching. He can't wait to get more of this series. But he has to help around the house to earn them. Which he is doing to get the next one.

Mythbusters is by far one of Discovery's best shows. Everything from the animations used to describe the myths to Adam and Jamie's competitions to everyone somehow finding ways to hurt Adam and/or Tori never ceases to entertain (and educate) me.

I love this show, they do what every kid wants to do. See how things work and whether myths are true.
Adam (a bit "goofier") and Jamey (more dead pan) work perfectly together mixing an entertaining blend of humor and science in trying to find out whether a "myth" is real or not. And often the experiments are things we would all like to try, but don't, for good reason.
It is a great show for older (mature) children to watch with adults.

Boys will be boys, but not for getting the girls. To quote a friend who saw an episode of Mythbusters, "why?". Answer: Why not. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, (not for getting their lunatic fringe cohorts from later episodes Troy, Carrie and Grant), live out and get paid for basically playing and having to much fun. Testing, smashing, destroying, blowing up and answering questions that many have queried, but most do not have the time, talent or money to follow through. These wonderful guys and girl take scientific study and testing to a base reality. Prove it! They take projects from a point of imagination to conception. Making safety and planning a must and priority. In junior high, high school and later at my university they/we/I only touched on a very few actual experiments. I hope every science teacher in this country shows these wonderful modern day scientists and explorers to their students. The power of imagination. Some will say that Mythbusters is just TV, not science or exploration, they would be wrong and most likely just jealous. Jamie does sum it up for many of us guy dude explorer scientific want to be types, "Jamie wants a big boom" :-). Gotta love it. So to Jamie, Adam, Carrie, Troy, Grant and their Discovery crew and team. Thanks and safe journeys. Cheers

My 8 year old son loves the Mythbusters - Collection 3 collections. While entertaining, they combine a wonderful mix of science, engineering, planning, history, and safety to all of their experiments. And just for fun, there are always a few items to explode, crush, or otherwise destroy. This is a great series for kids 8-12 years old, or any person looking for fun!

I loved these guys. My teacher brought this movie in for science class and I thought my head was gonna pop off. I enjoy the show from start to finish. I like the one episode where Adam asks Jamie for a countdown from 3-1 and he does it as "2-3-1". I also like it with the plywood glider as Adam is flying over Jamie he says "I fart on you" that made me bust a gut. Definetly get this DVD for laughs or for teachers for science class. So no more Bill Nye, and hello Mythbusters.

We gave these to our son for his 17th birthday and he absolutely loves them.They have all the shows he wants to watch again and again with no commercial interruptions. The Mythbusters Revealed are his favorite.

Another arbitrary collection of episodes from the best show on TV 4 out of 5 stars.

I have nothing but good things to say about Mythbusters as a show. There are some people out there who pick apart Adam and Jamie's techniques or their conclusions, but to those people I say I dare you to find another show on TV that is so compelling, interesting, fun to watch, or that works so well at making you more interested and curious about the world we live in.
However, I have an issue with the way Discovery is compiling these DVD series. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. In the first two collections they brought out, the episodes included were completely arbitrary. At least this series has a "theme:" Big Blasts, but still, why can't they just bring these episodes out as a SEASON like most other TV productions? The damage is done now, so I guess from here on out we'll end up with collection after collection of Mythbusters where we'll have NO IDEA what we'll get until we open the box.

I purchased the DVD for school / science class usage. I did watch a couple of episodes and felt the programs were okay - I'm just not all that into science, though I know the students will love them.

This was an excellent DVD. Many popular movie stunts are debunked and demystified. It's appropriate, as Jamie and Adam have experience with F/X in the movies. I also purchased this on Feb.17, 2007 from Wal-Mart. For some reason they have it out on the shelves a month early. Must have been a mistake. Oh, well... better enjoy it. It's rare when a store makes a mistake in your favor.
Fun and science rolled into one! 5 out of 5 stars.

My kids LOVE Mythbusters. They are 8 & 12 year old girls who love the way the Mythbusters explain science as if it's part of the fun - which it is! They love knowing the "secrets" behind the movie magic. And the best part is that the it's "family viewing" that entertains the grown-ups, too.
Great gift for the dad geek you can't find anything for 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm a filmmaker, so this seemed like the perfect gift for me to get for the un-buyable geek dad. Though, I'll admit, my dad was rarely surprised by the myths busted and figured them out before the answer was revealed (*sigh* engineers...). Despite that, he seemed to enjoy the special. I'm glad I purchased this Mythbusters for my dad.

I bought this collection to use in teaching my communication courses at the graduate level.
I show segments from the 2057s in my Human Communication on the Internet course. Some students find some of the ideas disturbing, but all students find the information thought-provoking. The presentations of the 2057s are a little cheezy, but the content is great. The 2057s DVDs are a great way to help students picture the possible future of the Internet and computer use.
The giant panda special is one of the best ever made. Now follow me on this, if my veterinarian-daughter helps with the artificial insemination, then she's at least a little bit the father, and I'm the grandmother. (grin) They filmed this baby's life from planning through the first year, and it is the best documentary done on the topic of the giant panda. Plus, he's the cutest grandbaby ever!
I use Mythbusters as discussion prompts for teaching experimental research. By showing segments by these guys--and doing some of the experiments in class. We have a fun way to discuss the scientific method, variables, and other principles from the research. The students love the Myth Busters, and it makes an excellent prompt for discussing research and experimentation.

Adam and Jamie make a great team. Adam is funny and goofy, while Jamie is serious. They make the show so much fun to watch you don't even realize you are learning something until it is to late.
