Although the story lines can be kinda whacked they also can be very cute and whitty. It can go from a simple idea with the Cats and Kaz to an all out "full on riot Manga Robot explosion" This is a light hearted simple show that has a fun and enegenic appeal. The designs and backgrounds are great. Highly recommended for all ages.
IKIMASHO !!!! (Loosely translates to DVD's title) 3 out of 5 stars.

I never thought that the duo behind the Teen Titans theme song would have their own TV show. Come to think of it, I never thought they were that popular - here in America and there in their homeland.
Either way, this is only one of two Puffy Ami Yumi DVDs released so far. The near-anime series features Puffy in a candy-colored cartoon environment along with their pint-sized tightwad manager Kaz and their pet cats Jeng Kang and Tekirai. In the first volume, you will find twelve episodes including:
"Dis-Harmony" - The girls are stalked by their number one fan.
"Collect All Five" - Ami goes collectible crazy !
"Puffylicious" - The girls open their own restaurant.
"The First Rule of Fan Clubs" - The duo gets too much fan service.
"Ami's Secret" - Yumi has no idea why Ami joined the circus.
"Taffy Trouble" - They're in a real sticky situation at the candy factory.
"The Amazing Kaz-aam" - Kaz becomes an amatuer magician.
"Cat Nap" - Kaz wants to go to sleep, no thanks to Jeng Kang and Tekirai.
Plus, keep your ears clear for at least one of their insane hits running throughout the episodes. Also, besides the animated characters and their wild adventures, you'll get to meet the real Ami and Yumi themselves at the start of each show. And it's all direct from their Tokyo hometown.
Special features include a backstage look at those live-action bits and a pop-up trivia track of the episode "Dance a Go Go".
And one more thing, if you see Ami and Yumi sometime, tell them "C.N. fan" said hey.
