Samurai Jack Season 4: Another SJ Season. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This season is really good. It wasn't as good as SJ Season 3, but still a-lot more entertaining than most cartoons out these days. Everything is about the same as the previous seasons, but it has some really good episodes , like "The Aku Infection," "Scotsman Saves Jack, Part 1& 2," "Jack versus Aku," and "The Four Seasons of Death" This is the final season of SJ, and it's really good. I love how they have the stand out episodes in each season, such as this one it is "The Four Seasons of Death" More cinema sequences, and more detailed in art and the way it looks. This is really a great show, and I wish their was more shows that were this creative and awesome to watch. If you liked this I recommend checking out the "Star Wars: Clone Wars" mini-series that was on CN, It was done by the same person who made this (Genndy Tartakovsky, or however you spell it ha) Especially if you're a SW Fan.

Anyways, I'm glad I spent the money on all four seasons of SJ, definitely one of the best animations in a LONG TIME! 5/5 Stars.

ugh.. 2 out of 5 stars.

This show is so bad. I mean ...the drawings are terrible the plot is absurd. How something like this gets on the air is uncomprehensible. I notice alot of people here bash down the negative reviews on this, obviously im guessing because they are fans. I've seen web-animations that are better than this...for one example "Ninjai" and that show is created with less people and creates more emotion. With that said I gave this got two stars because I can remember about two episodes that actually came close to being good.. But if this was any attempt at something epic..they failed. Now vote me down... cause the truth hurts baby!

Great show!` 5 out of 5 stars.

Oh man I love this show and how it looks. Watched almost all of them twice and can't get enough of it. It is a must buy for all Samurai Jack fans.

Samurai Jack: Classic Animation. 5 out of 5 stars.

This is probably my favorite cartoon/animation show of all time. The plot is pretty simple. But the stories themselves are really interesting. A-lot of action sequences, really cool slow motion scenes and widescreen/cinema feeling scenes as well. The art is amazing, especially how the art really flows together, and the backgrounds are epic. 2D animation at its best! Anyways, my favorite episodes are: Jack and The Scotsman, Part 1. Jack and the Lava Monster, Jack Versus Mad Jack. Those were really outstanding episodes, all of these are really good, but those were just WOW to me. I seriously recommend checking out this series. It's great, sure not alot talking, but Samurai jack doesn't really need it, it's way more interesting without it and more suspenseful. 5/5 Stars.

Big disappointment after season 1 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I am a grown-up animation enthusiast, and quite a fan of Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack, Foster's Home and other cartoons with a cool retro-influenced design (50-60's), but this second season of Samurai Jack was a big letdown for me.
Both graphically and story-wise everything seems much poorer, less surprising and less fun, less researched than on the first season.

If you're a fan go ahead, this is still above average, but if you're looking for really outstanding stuff well you won't find anything better than season 1 here.
I'd rather recommend you to check out Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, which is sweet, funny and sometimes emotional, and looks totally amazing.
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - The Complete Season 1

The second season, well worth it 5 out of 5 stars.

IMHO, the drama that sells the whole DVD is the episode where Aku creates horrific assasin robots in an attempt to defeat Jack. The robots indiscriminately massacre the innocent and helpless to leave a trail of butchery that will lead jack to them. Due to it being on Cartoon Network, the worst gore scenes, like a city of impaled beings, were robots, but it still has the effect.

The tribute to the soon to be made into a movie "300" by Frank Miller is a close second. And there's humor, the "Jump Good" episode, the re-uniting with the Scotsman, and Jack's search for replacement footwear.

Samurai Jack Season 3: The Gold of SJ. 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is my favorite season of Samurai Jack. It just has the best episodes on it. Not one is boring at all. And it has it's best episodes ever made, such as "Jack and The Haunted House," "Jack and The Zombies," and "Jack and The Rave." But all of these episodes are just really amazing. Especially "Birth of Evil: Part 1 & 2" as we learn how Aku came into existence. I cannot say how great this season is. It's more dark, better action, and the art is at its best. Especially in the haunted house episode. I love the big fight sequence in that episode. Anyways, this, IMO, is the best SJ season. Definitely recommended. 100/5 stars.

As Good As It Gets 5 out of 5 stars.

Samurai Jack season 3 is as good as the previous two seasons. Especially with the two part origin story of Aku titled "Birth Of Evil". This is a great DVD set with all the action and adventure one would expect from this great cartoon show. Once again nothing is compromised in originality in this set. The extras are OK, but I would always love more. Certainly a must have for any fan of this show, or cartoon/action shows in general.

I LOVE SAMURAI JACK 5 out of 5 stars.

I know I'm 25y/o but I love cartoons and esspecially this one. It has everything humor, fight scenes, courage, honor, and honesty. This cartoon is the bomb. I'd recommend it to every adult that's still a kid at heart.

Glad it's on DVD 5 out of 5 stars.

Slick, fun smart and memorable all describe the sadly departed Samurai Jack series. This set adds up to a great deal compared to the separate season releases and doesn't disappoint in terms of quality and packaging. Highly recommended for Jack fans and others looking for animation and storytelling in a whole new light.

Fantastic show for all ages 5 out of 5 stars.

I had watched Samurai Jack on the TV a few times, and started watching it with my little brother, who is 15. I ended up not catching it for a while, but it turned out tht he had become addicted so I bought him the box set.

To be frank, I think it's a fantastic show. The art-work is beautiful, I find the style very diffeent from other shows in that it looks very painterly, and unusual.

The story is great, very simple but very iconic. The action sequences are all fantastic too, and because all the enemies Jack fights are robots the lack of blood makes it suitable for younger children. Jack is a great hero - he is driven, thoughtful and is a good example to follow.

But I think that it works as more than just a children's show. My brother, who would have been in his early teens when he first started watching, loves it, I (aged 19 currently) love it, my older brother (22) loves it, my collegues at uni (some of whom are about 25) love it, and we even watched it with our mum and grandmother (50 and 87 respectively) who also enjoyed it.

It's funny, it's smart, it's action-pacted, and it's all round awesome. highly recommended.

3-day weekend 3 out of 5 stars.

*** alert ***
who is amos lassen, and how does he rate items before the dvd is released.
i have bought several items based on his recommedations.
all of them have been glowing 5 * reviews, but when you get the
dvd that is released to the public, it seems that at least 20% of the
movie that he describes is not in the on the dvd.
i won't be buying anything he reviews glowingly until i see a few more
opinons, or i can rent it first
Sad, but somewhere the movies he is seeing and what is released is
just not the same. NOW on to the movie i received ,++Yes this is sterotypcial, good guys and not so good guys, but remember, the wrong thing about being ""gay"" is we love MEN, and that makes it
hard to be with one person only

Overall, a 4 out of 5 4 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed this movie. The acting was pretty good, and the story was plausible, and one that many people can relate to, gay or straight. It's a movie I would watch again, and probably enjoy more the second time.

Jack's like, word! 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Cartoon Network shows tend to be very, very cool -- at the very least, fascinatingly weird. But their most "righteous" show has to be "Samurai Jack," a dryly hilarious show with a righteous hero, his magic sword, and a truly loathsome villain.

"Samurai Jack: the Movie" is nothing new, merely the first few episodes of the series. Nevertheless, it's a good introduction to anyone who is just checking out this clever little series.

The evil Aku (Japanese for... "evil") has risen again, and lays waste to Japan. But the empress manages to smuggle away the young prince, and over the years he becomes a brave warrior. He returns, frees the enslaved people, and goes off to kill Aku with a magic sword forged by the gods.

But during the battle with Aku, the young samurai is flung thousands of years into the future (think a grimier "Jetsons"). Aku rules the future with an iron fist, and the world is full of volatile aliens, speeding aircars, and talking dogs. Now the samurai -- known as "Jack" -- must free the enslaved dogs from Aku's rule, and find a way back to his own time so this future will never happen.

Of course, he won't find it right away, because otherwise there wouldn't be a story. There's a bonus episode in the extras menu: Jack walks over a miles-long bridge, and encounters a psychotic Scotsman who ends up getting handcuffed to him. Will they escape backwater bounty hunters together, or strangle each other first?

Certainly "Samurai Jack" isn't like anything you've seen before, with its simplistic drawing style and clever scripting. The animation style is reminiscent of classical Japanese artwork, and their movies get a nod in the quiet, relatively slow pacing of the episodes.

And as it entertains you with evil robots and shapeshifting demons, it also throws in a subtle message about honor, kindness, and "righteousness." For a series with no character development, its hero is a pretty lovable guy. He's morally upright, righteous and kind, but somehow it isn't annoying.

And it's fairly cool to see him training with Vikings, Olympic wrestlers, Cossacks, Zen monks, and even with Robin Hood. And when he gets to the future, we get to see him deal with all sorts of bizarro things. (Robot alligators with machine guns?) And surprisingly, Jack adjusts very quickly to his surreal new surroundings.

Though it has nothing that people with the other "Samurai Jack" DVDs won't have, "Samurai Jack: the Premiere Movie" is a good intro for people who are just getting introduced to this clever series.

Editorial Review:

The graphically inventive feature that introduced the Cartoon Network series owes as much to the cartoons of UPA and Chuck Jones as it does to anime. The title character is a prince whose family has fought the evil demon Aku for control of their fanciful Asian kingdom for ages. During an intense battle, Jack is hurled into a future city ruled by Aku and his henchmen-robots. After aiding some talking dogs, Jack vows to continue his struggle against Aku and return to own time. The angular, minimal visuals are effective and eclectic: Aku's face is modeled on Sri Lankan demon masks, and the characters move in ways that fit their stylized designs. Unfortunately, the writing falls short of the visuals--the talking dogs would feel more at home in a "Ren and Stimpy" cartoon than in this imaginative adventure. Unrated. Suitable for ages 8 and older: cartoon violence. --Charles Solomon

Absolutly Great 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

One of the best animated cartoons that I have watched. Samurai Jack offers more cinimatic style and fun, over-the-top action than most big-budget-summer-action flicks. The stylized symplistic animation (think Rocky and Bullwinkle) work to the shows advantage, drawing attention only the important elements of the show. And the depth of the storytelling surpasses that of what is expected from a TV show and is just down-right GOOD.

This show is not, however, perfect. A number of episodes (IV,XII,XIII,XXVI) as downright bad. But episodes(VII,VIII,XIV,XVIII,XIX,XXV) more than make up for them (enough to still give the product a 5star rating).

Absolutly buy this product if you like action shows, cartoons and good storytelling.

I am just waiting for season 3 and 4 to come out on DVD too.

Everything you want from Samurai Jack 5 out of 5 stars.

The seasons were everything that I was hoping for. I don't think that the DVD have left my players since they came in the mail. Good stuff.... I can't wait for the rest of them to come out.
