Not even one star 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 13 people found this review helpful.

Terrible. Dialogue was constantly mumbled. The plot made no sense, and characters that were introduced were just forgotten about.
If you like this movie, you have no taste, and little self-respect.
If you complain, "Hey, it's just one of those movies to trip out on."
Then you haven't seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Unnecessarily Graphic and Crude 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Call me a prude if you like. But the explicit graphics of the sex scenes could have been more subtly done without sacrificing the plot. And Bobby's profuse use of the f word was unnecessary. As one who followed the original series devotedly, and watched the entire series with rapt attention in the Gold DVD Box edition, I must say this turned me off.

I understand and appreciate the effort to fill us in on the murder motive through this prequel. I think as a Twin Peaks fan, I would have appreciated a sequel too, one which resolves the tension of "hero become villain" in the very last scene of Season 2, as well as the problem of Leo Johnson left with tarantulas hanging overhead courtesy of Windom Earle. The reference in "Fire Walk With Me" to "The good Cooper is in the lodge and can't get out" suggests that there might have been a solution coming??? But as it is we are left hanging, just like Leo.

4.5; a good hit-and-miss season 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The fifth season of the X-Files is one of those kind of seasons where if there's any moments that aren't as stellar as previous years gets at least a bit excused. Reason is that this was mainly the time when the crew were also working on the X-Files feature film, "Fight the Future". As such, certain episodes were either entirely centered on one of the agents, or they appeared in a support kind of way and not actually directly involved with the case. So trying to get a big-budget movie up and going plus a season's worth of episodes can cause some strain but instead of a lackluster season mainly being blamed for bad writing, is this a season that indirectly suffered or is it good while also being a little flawed.

Redux: Taking place after the shocking cliffhanger from "Gethsemane", Mulder tries to find clues to Scully's illness in a government building. Great opener. 9/10
Redux II: Scully's health continues to get worse, a bizarre cure is found, a surprise guest returns and a mole is revealed (intense scene this one). 9.5/10
Unusual Suspects: Intriguing but okay episode about the first start of the Lone Gunmen and their introduction to Mulder. 6/10
Detour: In the spirit of "Darkness Falls", the agents are lost/trapped within the woods by a group of near-invisible creatures. 9.5/10
The Post-Modern Prometheus: Quirky, bizarre episode of a demented town with a Cher-loving Frankenstein. 6.5/10
Christmas Carol: Scully investigates a case that has her finding a young girl and also revisiting memories of her sister. 9/10
Emily: One of their best episodes as Scully tries to find what's wrong with Emily and Mulder tries to find a cure. 10/10
Kitsunegari: One of the series' best villains basically gets whipped and becomes a pansy and somebody new is introduced. Disappointing. 5/10

Schizogeny: Meh episode in a trio of meh episodes about an abuse sufferer who uses a strange method to get her revenge...and it involves trees. Yeah. 5.5/10
Chinga: Written by Stephen King, this possessed doll episode is alright but could've benefited from additional writing. 6/10
Kill Switch: Intriguing but almost forgettable episode about a particularly violent A.I. system. 6/10
Bad Blood: Along with "War of the Corpophages" and "Humbug" as one of the funniest comedies in this Rashomon vampire tale. 9.5/10
Patient X: Cool mythology episode as a strange alien race is found and Scully is introduced to a fellow abductee. Mulder's shift to super skeptic is jarring to say the least. 8/10
The Red and the Black: Another cool one as Scully tries to remember what happened on the bridge at the cliffhanger of "Patient X". 8/10
Travellers: Slightly forgettable, slightly good episode about an FBI agent in the 1950's investigating a case that involved Mulder's father. 7/10
Mind's Eye: Great episode about a blind woman somehow able to see through the eyes of a killer. Awesome performance by Lili Taylor. 9/10

All Souls: Another good one that explores Scully's faith, closure from "Emily" and girls who are targeted by dark forces. 8/10
The Pine Bluff Variant: Good concept but slow episode about Mulder undercover with a terrorist cell in possession of a nasty virus. 6.5/10
Folie a Deux: "madness shared by two" in French, Mulder is suspected of being delusional when he keeps seeing visions of a creature. 8/10
The End: A young boy who was the apparent target of an assassination attempt uncovers a new addition to the mythos, returning characters and new ones and a surprising end to the titular files (sadly spoiled on the menu). 9/10

For all the meh and bad episodes that sometimes show up on this season, it's hard not to fault it entirely because of the filming of the film as well as this was the end of the Vancouver era and soon started the Los Angeles era. So while there's some definate goodies on here, there's also the occasional clunker.

Great writing 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I had forgotten how enjoyable this series was. There are some great little things that will keep your interest and make you want to watch it again. The little details like Gomes pulling lit cigars out of his pockets. You do not notice all of them the first time you are watching it. The writing is very good and the acting, while it can be corny, is good also. It is well worth the money.

I loved this! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a wonderful set. The old programs are the best and some of these things will not be around forever. So if the original Addams Family series was somthing you enjoyed years ago, I completly recomend that you get this.

Don't buy the pilot 3 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I've just bought season 1 and the pilot episode as the previously reviews helpfully said that season 1 didn't include the pilot. What they didn't say is that episode 1 and 2 of the first season ARE the same as the pilot episode. So if you are buying the box set of season 1 you don't need to buy the pilot, it's the same as the first 2 episodes.

An amazing series:)) 5 out of 5 stars.

I absolutely loved this show. Every episode was outstandinly impressive... I wish I could say the same for the book by Stephen King, but for those of you who havent seen it I stronly reccomend the show... stay the hell away from the novel.

Dead Zone at its best! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Dead Zone - The Complete Second Season is one of the best DVD box sets out there. The 19 episodes come in a 5 gate-fold and are presented in a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen. Some of my favorite episodes from this season have been: Valley of the Shadow, Descent, Precipitate, Cabin Pressure, Deja Voodoo, and Visions. I'd also like to make clear that there are no defective discs in this box set. One person who gave this item a bad review said that he had many discs replaced and that none worked. It seems to me that it's the DVD player that is defective in a case like this, and not the discs. I can't wait to buy The Complete Third Season of The Dead Zone!

A childhood classic 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This show had a lasting impression on me as a 10 year....it scared the crap out of me.
Seeing it as an adult I see how bad the writing is and especially the special effects, but still love watching it.
I now see why Darren McGavin quit the show !!

One of My Very Favorites 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Long on my DVD wish list, it is beyond terrific to finally have this delightfully culty show on DVD. Dated effects, limited TV budget, implausible storylines - fine, whatever. Who cares? Its Kolchak! Its just a fun show, and one I discovered during a lot of late night cram sessions in college when the show started airing on the early incarnation of the Sci-Fi Channel. Heavy on atmosphere, some terrific dialogue, quirky characters, and most importantly, wonderful actors like Simon Oakland and especially the infectiously charming Darren McGavin. If ever an actor and a character were made for each other, its McGavin and Kolchak. He's impossible not to like. A true television star, because you wanted to watch him week in and week out. If you're a fan, you know already know exactly what I mean.

Out With The Old, In With The New 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Starting with the sweeping landscape shot of Los Angeles, the show's new home after filming five seasons in Vancouver, Canada, The Sixth Season of the X-Files epitomized the concept of change in nearly every aspect. Coming on the heels of "Fight The Future: The X-Files Movie", which did not provide the kind of closure that was expected, the writers/producers knew that serious changes to the show needed to be made, as the mythology plotlines were beginning to bog down due to overly-complex storylines. This need for change even spilled into the stand-alone episodes, developing the Mulder-Scully romance more than at any other time up to this point.

In regards to the mythology episodes, the season starts with the aptly-titled "The Beginning", in which the "new mythology" plotline is begun, centering on the notion that perhaps mankind is itself extraterrestrial in origin. After a two-part episode ("Two Fathers" and "One Son") that wraps up the original Syndicate mythology by explaining the ultimate fate of the alien-human hybrid program, the finale ("Biogenesis") again returns to the "humans as aliens" plot, where Agent Scully makes the greatest scientific discovery in human history on the African coast.

Also during this season, the stand-alone episodes were of excellent quality (in my opinion, the best the show ever produced). Focusing on the Mulder-Scully relationship, as well as adding larger doses of humor to each episode, the stand-alones that really shine are "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas" (a merry romp through a haunted house), "Triangle" (a fantastic nod to the Wizard of Oz), "The Unnatural" (Mulder's love of the National Pastime is explored), and "Field Trip" (one of the best episodes, concept-wise, of the entire show). Also, "Dreamland 1 & 2" is a unique episodes that showcases the humor, fantastical plots, and relationships of the show all at once!

To conclude, I have always considered the Sixth Season of the X-Files to be my favorite single season of the nine. Viewers are given resolution to the main mythology, taken down a new mythological path, treated to some of the best single-hour plots of the show's history, and rewarded by the flowering of a subtle Mulder-Scully romantic relationship.

A Very Good Season, Not THE Best Though... 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

X-Files season 3. Ah, bliss. The show had not yet become overly complicated, and the dismal days of Doggett and Reyes were far off. Just Mulder and Scully and some good old fashioned recurring conspiracy characters for ya!
I like this season. It is one of the top four I would say, and many people will disagree, calling it the best set of episodes the series has to offer. I couldn't argue with that, it just all has to do with personal preference.
Season 3 is actually pretty lighthearted, with some interesting twists and turns intertwined throughout. The mythology episodes in this season, however, are some of my least favorite, dealing with the alien healer Jeremiah Smith, the black oil, and a digital recorder with evidence of an alien conspiracy. This does have an exception, however. "Nisei" and "731", especially the latter, are two of the most exceptional episodes ever created. It is also a delight to witness Alex Krycek under control of the black cancer, towards the end of the season. Let's just say that when it leaves his body in the abandoned missile silo, chills ran up my spine. Truly haunting!
As far as monster of the week episodes go, I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of this bunch. "Avatar" wad particularly annoying for me, adding a convoluted Skinner plotline and just throwing out the paranormal element in the middle of the episode. There are also many comic elements to these MOTW episodes. Jose Chung is possibly the most famous comic X-Files episode. Personally, I like the darker, more frightening episodes the best, but nontheless these are all a delight to watch.
"Quagmire", while not scary in the least, is a very fun episode because it almost tricks you into thinking that Mulder is wrong just this one time, but then again the truth is never what it seems. Keep an eye out for this one, there is a great balance of chemistry between Mulder and Scully.
The special features are in abundance here, with deleted scenes, behind the scenes, commentary, interviews, and promo spots. It will keep you busy for hours.
Any X-Phile must pick up this set. Hell, I think any fan should own at least seasons 1-6, as they are terrific, all of them. But season 3 is a terrific investment, and some of the best hours of the best sci-fi series of all time.

Editorial Review:

This season, series creator Chris Carter expanded the mythology with plots like the alien black oil and Scully's implant, but also further developed the show's trademark humor and continued to explore paranormal possibilities.

The best season! 5 out of 5 stars.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete Second Season is by far the best and most suspenseful season of this cult/classic show. Sarah Michelle Gellar's character Buffy Summers falls in love with a vampire named Angel played by David Boreanaz. The scenes between them are explosive and romantic, the season finale just blew my mind, love it! Great season, have to check it out. Enjoy!

This is really one of the best seasons of the ground-breaking series. From the first now two the second, it gets better as it goes on. Following behind season 5, it creates an image and leaves it in your mind making you want more. Buying this season is a great buy and you won't disagree.
All 22 episodes will have glued to the television. And the first 20 will lead up to the two part finale that will shock.
The DVD also comes with special features that have commentaries and interviews and a closer look into the Buffy world as their second year concluded.
5/5 stars, buy it to complete your collection.
