the darkest and therefore misunderstood season 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

i completely 100% love the fifth season of sex and the city. true it is extremely short and overpriced but the 8 episodes are pure gold. A lot of the reviewers bemoaned the fact that this season suffers from a lack of laughs and is more serious and the characters feel unlike themselves. I tell those reviewers to take a closer look at the end of season 4, the journeys and behaviours of the four leads is completely truthful and relatably to real life after where we left them last. They are all burnt out, they have all had there hearts broken yet again and now they have realised that they are no longer as young as they once were and therefore feel terrified by the fact that they are still alone. I felt most for Carrie in this season, true she acts selfish towards some of friends at times in this season but she is so afraid of what will happen next after all that has happened - the breakup with Aiden and the departure of Big, that she reverts completely into herself and attempts to keep her friends static around her, as is witnessed in 'Luck be an old lady'. The other characters too experiences emotions that are unlike anything that has come before them. As Charlotte points out ot Miranda in the previous season just before Brady's birth that 'she needs to start letting people in' Miranda feels the full force of that this season when she attempts to balance both her social life with her family life and like Carrie fears what will come next. Charlotte is forced to confront the fact that her Mister Perfect fantasy of a husband was not a fantasy but turned into a nightmare, and that she must finally look elsewhere for the love and intimacy she desires so much. Samantha feels she loses a part of her identity upon opening herself to Richard and being burnt because of it, but it is only when we fall down do we stand up and learn how to be stronger as she learns in the final episode.
This season represent a bridge between the fun wild days of the first four season and the more adult and mature world of the sixth season and movie. It also shows that to move on we must standup by ourselves and move forward into whatever murky future lies ahead because only through that do we grow as human beings.

Editorial Review:

It's summertime, but that doesn't mean the women of Sex and the City are livin' easy. They've got new loves, new responsibilities, new choices to make, and (oh, yes!) a new baby to deal with - and that equates to a whole new outlook on being single in New York City. Ready or not, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are headed for uncharted territory on an all-new season of HBO's smash-hit comedy series Sex and the City!

Six & the City, Volume One 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Season Six Volume 1 is quite a jam-packed treat. With some of the best episodes from the entire series and some of the strangest cameos, too, this season is a must for those who love new men, serial daters, and awkward humor!

"The Post-it Always Sticks Twice" is the best episode ever, in the entire series! But this first volume finished strong with "A Woman's Right to Shoes," which takes me back to the original Bushnell articles that started it all (plus Tatum O'Neal!?! & the best pair of shoes!) and the very intriguing "One."

This volume starts all of the women on new paths in life, making it difficult to believe this is the beginning of the end ...

A must own for the "Post-it" episode.

Editorial Review:

Each episode of "Sex and the City" deals with the romantic challenges that single women face when they start seeing the big three oh in the rear view mirror & start finding new suitable mates. These challenges are revealed through the eyes of several friends, each of whom has their own ideas on how to catch Mr. Right. There's Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), who pushed the envelope of dating & sex in the name of journalism; Samantha (Kim Catrall), a PR Executive who has seen (and done) it all; Charlotte (Kristin Davis), an art dealer who believes love conquers all, despite a tottering marriage; & Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), a lawyer now contemplating motherhood.

One of the Best Seasons! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Season 3 & 4 rival each other, in my opinion, for best season. (Season 5 is definitely the most fun, and Season 6 is definitely the most serious of the bunch)

I love this season because the comedy is so fresh and fun. The storylines are great, and the fashion is in its most forward stage.
In this season, you will find such great quotes as: "I sound like a perverted Nancy Drew." Aidan is introduced and Big makes a steamy comeback, while Charlotte meets the man of her dreams Trey.

And the clothes in the 2 L.A. episodes are so outrageous: i.e. Carrie's neon green bathing suit and her hot pink sequin fanny pack.

Great season--must own!!!

Editorial Review:

Sex and the City returns for a third season that is even fresher, funnier and more tastefully dressed than the first two. Join Carrie and her friends Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha as they do weddings, funerals and Bat Mitzvahs, Staten Island, the meat-packing district and the Playboy Mansion. "A-List" celebrity guest appearances include Carrie Fisher, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hugh Hefner, Donovan Leitch, Matthew McConaughey, Alanis Morissette and Vince Vaughn. So get ready to cross the velvet ropes and enter a world of... Sex and the City.

Can't wait to watch it 5 out of 5 stars.

I now have Seasons 1 & 2 of SATC, but haven't had a chance to watch them yet. I can't wait for a rainy or cold and snowy weekend, so I can be a couch potato alllll day!

Video Girls on HBO 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

If I'd watched this season first, I'd have never gone to see the movie or watched later episodes of the show. Fortunately, most of the syndication episodes I see on TV are with Mr. Big and Carrie; Samantha and Jared; Charlotte and the Jewish guy; and Miranda and the bartender. Call me a prude, but I liked the later episodes so much better because each woman stuck to one man; wasn't having sex on a first date with every guy who looked cute and seemed nice; and they seemed to be slightly more street smart. In this season, everybody's coming home late at night and jumping in folks' cars; having sex with someone different on every single episode (why do we pick on video girls when there are shows like this on the air?); and Miranda and Charlotte drove me insane. Miranda is that bitter, angry, no man friend that every male on Planet Earth can't stand because she's always the tightest friend with their girlfriend. She had some male bashing comment on just about every episode, but ironically, she couldn't WAIT to find a man and complained continuously about why nobody wanted her. Maybe because you're mean and annoying! Charlotte, on the other hand, bothered me more. I respect some of her old-fashioned ways about getting to know a man before having sex, and wanting to not use certain vocabulary words that are classless, but everything else about her made me want to scratch my eyes out. She was a complete hypocrite by lecturing people on being too slutty, but then she had sex with some guy at a wedding. That was a Samantha move! No matter what the guy does, she swears her dates are "the one" and talks about wanting to get married and have children more than even the old 80s sitcoms I'd see. If Charlotte's character met Mrs. Brady (from "The Brady Bunch"), I think Mrs. Brady might ask her to loosen up a little.

The first season was better because there was less vulgar humor and more actual slap-your-thigh funny scenes. This season had "jokes" like someone nutting on another person's forehead. Ugh.

I hope the third season is better. If not, I'm going to start working with the last episodes and work my way to the bottom.

Waste of time. Never laughed out loud. Characters unexplainably changed character. Pam turned evil. 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 11 people found this review helpful.

In this season, Michael seems more serious, and even more mature. Not sure what the turning point was for him. When did he become normal?

I used to LIKE Pam. She was so endearing. Then, after Pam blows Jim off twice when Jim works up the courage to tell her his true feelings on her wedding day (for the sake of suspending the plot, no doubt), after three years of reticence on her part, when it would have taken no courage to tell HIM her feelings, since he was the single one; after blowing him off TWICE, she breaks up with Roy, then Jim returns happy with Karen (carbon copy of Pam, personality-wise), Pam gets back together with Roy, then a few days later dumps Roy, then finally sabotages Jim's happy relationship with Karen. Pam turned out to be a bitch, and whichever screenwriter did that should be fired.

So Pam is either more erratic than Jan (who, btw, was in this season embarrassingly unstable and clingy and unprofessional...did some writer mix up the characters?). Or Pam is just as mature as a 15 year old school girl. She turns Jim away when he opens up and makes himself vulnerable beneath the stars at night; THEN she sabotages his relationship with Karen and his promotion, just because she can (or because, again, she's actually a 15 year old schoolgirl who can't stand to see a guy she's attracted to be happy with another girl).

Fill your Inbox with hilarious moments from The Office Season Three in this four-disc collection that's crammed with extensive bonus features and all 22 episodes of the 2006 Primetime Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Comedy Series! Steve Carell is back in his Golden Globe-winning role as earnest but clueless boss Michael Scott, who can't help but contribute his own irreverent commentary to the daily happenings at the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin paper company. As the staff deals with potential office closures, mergers, romances, and advancement, Michael's always there to say all the wrong things at all the right times. Including five supersized episodes and over three hours of deleted scenes, The Office Season Three is packed with classic moments from the show that TIME magazine praises for "satirizing the culture of coffee, cubicles and Chili's with heart and laser precision."

Awesome show. Love the product. Six episodes should NOT cost this much. But it's good to have it.

Light-hearted, refreshingly funny, good clean fun 5 out of 5 stars.

Season 1 is the only one I've seen so far; I don't have much spare time to watch tv. After viewing all of the first season's episodes, though, it was enough to make me go out and buy the second and third seasons. The cast is great on this show. This is refreshing, light-hearted humor.

Editorial Review:

In this hilarious and faster-paced adaptation of the popular British comedy series, Steve Carell is Michael Scott, the egotistical, insensitive and almost supernaturally incompetent regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company. Michael sees himself as the office funnyman, a fount of business wisdom and his employees' cool friend. He has no clue that his staff merely tolerates his inappropriate behavior because he signs their paychecks. Michael acts as the obnoxious tour guide for an omni-present documentary crew who unflinchingly capture his many shortcomings along with Dunder Mifflin's petty workplace politics, simmering romances and side-splittingly awkward moments.

20/20 Hindsight 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The now-unemployed executives at Fox canceled this series after tinkering with content, casting, sequence of shows and time slot. The same folks who canceled Dark Angel pulled the plug on Firefly. The cast Christmas party became a final wrap party. However, the creator, writers and 9-member ensemble cast all went on the remarkable later success.

The Firefly DVD, peppered with "Copyright: FOX TV" captions (as if Fox did anything but thwart and hinder the production), has sold >600,000 copies. Its eleven episodes are a must-see for any drama, action, adventure, sci-fi or space fantasy fan. With strong and compelling stories from the Mutant Enemy (Buffy; Angel; Serenity...) stable of writers, my household remains amazed that that the network wonderkids didn't grasp the point or potential of this excellent work.

Compounding their error, they axed Firefly without allowing for a complete season. Adding to its foolishness to incompetency, Fox didn't even air two of the episodes it paid for, making this DVD the only way to see the incohate 11-episode work (the sets, cast and creator going on to make a smash motion picture from the left overs). Sheeeesh!

There is no one under the age of 100 who won't enjoy the creative writing, emmy-nominated acting, cinamatography and "wow" special effects offered here by Joss Whedon and friends.

Editorial Review:

Five hundred years in the future there's a whole new frontier, and the crew of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity is eager to stake a claim on the action. They'll take any job, legal or illegal, to keep fuel in the tanks and food on the table. But things get a bit more complicated after they take on a passenger wanted by the new totalitarian Alliance regime. Now they find themselves on the run, desperate to steer clear of Alliance ships and the flesh-eating Reavers who live on the fringes of space.
