A fun collection. The grandkids love these and they are used before the feature movie in our prison ministry. The guys love it. Just like the movies or Saturday morning...

Looney Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Two 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Volume Two is actually a better collection than Volume One. This collection contains 60 cartoons, 15 per disc. Disc One is titled Bugs Bunny Masterpieces, many are Bugs Bunny classics. Disc Two is titled Road Runner & Friends. Not all feature the Road Runner, the last few are one-hit wonders, such as "The Dover Boys". Disc Three is titled Tweety & Sylvester & Friends. Once again, some are without the title characters. Disc Four is titled Looney Tunes All Stars: On Stage & Screen. This disc does contain "One Froggy Evening" which won an Academy Award. There are some Bugs Bunny cartoons on this disc, it also contains some one shots, such as "I Love to Singa", a takeoff on the Jazz Singer. Like Volume One's disc four, Volume Two's disc four is the least enjoyable.

Warner Bros. is charging an exorbitant price for these collections, if you don't catch them on sale, you're probably overpaying. In general, disc four has the cartoons we're least interested in, it's the padding of the set, it's only reason for being there is so Warner Bros. can make even more money by increasing the number of volumes being released. This is still a classic collection of Warner Bros. cartoons. One of the best things about the collection is that all the cartoons are complete & uncut.

Editorial Review:

Greetings, Looneytics! For all who rightly place Looney Tunes alongside Mom, apple pie and web-surfing at work as American institutions, this is your time to rise and shine and watch. Yes, here on 4 discs you'll find 60 more of the finest, funniest, bestest Golden Era cartoons from the feverishly bent artistic minds at Termite Terrace. Disc 1 showcases a certain wascally wabbit. The happiness of pursuit is center stage in Disc 2 and 3's respective batches of Road Runner and Sylvester/Tweety fun. Disc 4 is an all-star cavalcade of Hollywood parodies and more. All 60 toons are restored, remastered, uncut. And each disc is chock-a-block with bonus goodies. It's a 24-carrot gem of a collection. Anything less would be dethpicable.

More great historical cartoons. 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Here we have the 5th volume of fantastic Warner Bros cartoons including those made by Bob Clampett. What is amazing about these cartoons is how historically relevant they are, showing us the the culture of the times with all its warts and charms. The organization of these sets with their focus on either one of the creators or one of the character really adds a lot to appreciating the cartoons. I never knew about Frank Tashlin for instance and learned about him in the earlier volume, while the focus on Bob Clampett in this set allows me to learn about and recognize his unique style while enjoying the classic cartoons I've been watching since I was a kid.

Editorial Review:

More Looney Tunes...your wish is our command. In this 4-disc set are 60 more of the most looneytic Looney Tunes ever unleashed and over 5 hours of extra special features. Indeed, some have never before been on home video! Disc 1 features some of the best Bugs and Daffy shorts ever. Disc 2 is filled with Looney Tunes version of fairy tales. Disc 3 features the best of Looney Tunes directed by Bob Clampett. And Disc 4 is all about the early daze.

Looney Tunes - Golden Collection, Volume Three 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is, easily, the weakest set of the first three volumes of Looney Tunes. There are still four discs with a total of 60 animated shorts. The first disc is titled Bugs Bunny classics & has 15 cartoons, almost all of them are classics. Like the first two volumes, the first disc, featuring Bugs Bunny, is the best disc of the set. Disc Two is titled Hollywood Caricatures & Parodies. IO was looking forward to this one but it turned out to be lame. It barely has any appearances by the classic Looney Tunes characters. Some of these are black & white, many of them coming from the thirties. The third disc is titled Porky & the Pigs is even less impressive than disc two. This disc has five or six cartoons in black & white that are, also, from the thirties. We do get to see the evolvement of Porky Pig through the first few cartoons. Discs two & three are probably important from a historical viewpoint &, though I'm a bit of a historical buff, I don't really need it. Don't get me wrong, there are some good cartoons on these two discs, most of them occurring near the end of each disc. There are even some characters that many fans will barely remember. Disc four in the first two volumes was the weakest but in this volume is the second best of the set. It's titled All-Star Cartoon Party & that's exactly what it is. The fifteen cartoons on this disc actually made me feel I was watching a TV version of Looney Tunes because it presented so many of the characters we've come to know; Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn, Speedy Gonzalez, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Sam the Sheepdog &, the original incarnation of Coyote: Ralph Wolf. This disc also has a couple of other characters that we're familiar with.

This is a so-so collection of Looney Tunes but it doesn't compare very well to the first two volumes. As in the first two sets there are a ton of extras included in the collection; all feature the same introduction with Whoopi Goldberg. This set may be a little bit more for the historian but it's still enjoyable, nevertheless. I would suggest that the buyer waits until this set goes on sale, it's not worth the MSRP.

Disappointing 2 out of 5 stars.
5 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I have purchased each volume of the Golden Collection so of course when this one came out I hurriedly ordered it as well.

My goal in buying this collection was to recapture those great cartoons that I watched as a child. Many have since been discontinued or heavily edited on TV, so this was a way of enjoying these classic cartoons from the days before we became so politically correct.

I am not one to expect that every cartoon will be a favorite, but I'll have to say this volume is rather full of filler. All of the classic cartoons on disk 3 are the type you'd find in the discount stores for a dollar a disk and are certainly not what I expected for my money. Those who want the very early cartoon classics with unknown characters might love this collection, but I expected to see Golden cartoons, not ancient ones!

WB could have done much better than this, but I guess they expected die-hard fans like me to buy it anyway. They got their wish, but shame on them for not doing better than this.

Editorial Review:

Here comes the highly-anticipated sixth volume of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, the studio's largest Looney Tunes compilation of animated shorts to date. Fans won't want to miss this golden opportunity to own over 60 classic, fully re-mastered and restored cartoons, presented in their original un-edited format. Most of the shorts in the collection have never been available on DVD before.

The Merry-Go-Round Breaks Down! 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Volume Four of the "Looney Tunes Golden Collection" is less than golden. A DVD set that wastes an entire disc on Speedy Gonzales - plus another on cats! - should be viewed with careful scrutiny. On the plus side, it's great having a disc devoted to the classic animation of Frank Tashlin. Unfortunately, the Bugs Bunny selections are a mixed bag, with "Operation: Rabbit" and the Oscar-winning "Knighty Knight Bugs" among the few highlights. Despite the generous amount of special features (including the 1975 "Bugs Bunny Superstar" documentary and three Private Snafu shorts), Volume Four lacks a well-rounded display of Warner Bros. cartoon madness.

Not sure why they called it road runner movie 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Its ok. My children are 5 and 8 and it starts off with some history and they were soo bored. Once you past that its good but not sure whyt hey called it road runner or why thats even in the title. I got it because I love road runner and he is only in it once; yes one cartoon.

The rest are ok but lots of dupes form the golden collection. Shame they haven't done a full dvd of road runner now that woul dbe worth buying!

Editorial Review:

Lights, camera, Looney-ness! The Spotlight is on 2 Looney Tunes movies - now remastered so that every image shines and every fine Acme product goes swoosh like new. The chase is on in Disc 1's The Bugs Bunny/Road-Runner Movie as Elmer pursues the pesky wabbit, Daffy Duck tries to elude the animator's eraser and Wile E. Coyote tears after Road Runner and Bugs. By the way, how do you catch a Road Runner? You don't! Beep-Beep! More cartoon harelarity is what's up, doc, in Disc 2's Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales. Our long-eared hero becomes a spinner of fantastical stories while held captive in a desert sultan's palace. Yosemite Sam is the sawed-off sidewinder wielding the sultan's sword. Mad mallard Daffy joins the fun, coping (or not) with a meanie-genie. The rest, as they say, is...hysterical!

Editorial Review:

In a hilarious take on the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," "A Looney Tunes Christmas" follows the exploits of Daffy Duck, the "Scrooge-like" proprietor of the "Lucky Duck" mega-mart. To take financial advantage of last minute shoppers, Daffy demands that his employees, including his long suffering manager, Porky Pig, work on Christmas Day instead of spending the holiday with their families. Its up to Bugs Bunny and the ghosts of Christmas past (Tweety and Granny), present (Yosemite Sam) and future (Taz) to make sure that Daffy realizes the error of his ways and saves Christmas for the Looney Tunes gang

NO Road Runner nor Pepe Le Pew..not whats on the box!!! 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I figured since the golden collection number 2 had a lot of Road Runner the Spotlight 2 would show some of those...NOPE!! Unless you love Tweety or Bugs dont bother because they are the primaries on this set. The gold collections are definately better...This set also includes a lot of cartoon charatcers that arent even well know.

Sub-par (so-so is more like it) 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is not a very good collection of Looney Tunes cartoons. The only good ones (that I give my highest regards to) are the nine Tweety/Sylvester cartoons on the first disc (in the last of these, "Tweetie Pie" from 1947, Sylvester was called Thomas), and "The Three Little Bops" and "Show Biz Bugs" on the second disc. Everything else (mostly the way-too-old B/W's from the '30's) was very much untouched. Sure, I own the first two seasons' worth of the classic B/W comedy "I Love Lucy" from 1951-53, but then, that was a television series that had some laughs to it. A lot of the way-too-old B/W's of the '30's didn't have much in the way of laughs, not just to me but to a lot of other people who thought that those were boring. If it were one disc of Tweety/Sylvester and one of Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote, I probably would have seen all the cartoons on both discs and would have felt that I had gotten a deal. However, as it stands, this gets only 2 stars for Warner's inclusion of the '30's cartoons.

Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Vol 5 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

As one of the five volumes from the collection, this one was loaded with the cartoons I grew up watching and enjoying. Great Volume from a great collection!!!!!

A fairly good collection... 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found a small number of favorites in this collection that I hoped to get.One was Transylvania-six 5000 and one, but only one of my favorite witch, but, unlike in Collection three, this one cartoon was finally complete, as was Ali Baba Bunny. I understand they are doing only one more Golden Collection for now. I hope they will continue the Spotlight Collections as I find it a good way to find some really good cartoons without spending too much.

Editorial Review:

Restored. Remastered. Reeediculously funny! The good times roll with 30 more of the brightest, bestest cartoons anywhere. Disc 1 showcases - drum roll, please! - the renowned wabbit and fowlball, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, in landmark romps that include Buccaneer Bunny and Stupor Duck. And once upon a time there were three bears...but any similarity to The Bear's Tale and the actual Goldilocks story is purely hilarious in Disc 2's Fairy Tales lineup. Here, the Warner funmakers give their own delirious tailspins to renowned fables â€" from Paying the Piper (with Porky Pig as the Pied Piper) to Tweety and the Beanstalk, to the Wolf's escapades in Little Red Walking Hood. Ah-oooOOOO, what a treat!
