Excellent series! 5 out of 5 stars.

Years ago when this show was on tv I only caught it a few times. I remember thinking that if I could get the chance later in life Id watch the whole series. And of course the dvds offer that opportunity. The characters have good design and the actors all do a good job. There are a lot of good actors to. Dana Delaney, Tim Daly, Mark Hamil, Micheal Dorn, and more. In particular the 3 part Worlds Finest storyline with Supes and Bats was very cool. Its great for grown up geeks like me and for kids

Superman - The Animated Series, Volumes 1-3 (DC Comics Classic Collection)s.

An Animated Series that entertains the Entire Family! 5 out of 5 stars.

The Superman animated series entertained my stepchildren when they were younger, and now my husband is watching it with our four-year-old, who is also a big fan of the Batman animated series and also the Justice League series. I don't know what we will do when we run out of episodes!!! Great fun.

Best Superman cartoon ever 5 out of 5 stars.

This is by far the best animated series with Superman. The style is reminiscent of the Batman series of the early 90's, though perhaps not quite as dark. If only Justice League could be half as decent...

Superman vol 3 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

"Lois, help! It's worse than kryptonite. My legs can't support this obscenely large hulking torso, when they draw me like this. It was so much easier in the Filmation days, when I had an even build."
"I know, Clark. They draw me like a stick insect midget. You look like the Hulk by comparison."
The only other disappointment in this series is that kryptonite needn't exist. Just about everything else affects Superman to some extent as well. In a commentary in Vol 1 or 2, the producer said, "you got no show, if you don't do that." (Superfriends writers Hanna-Barbera got half hour stories out of a fully invulnerable Supes).
BUT APART FROM THAT, IT'S AN ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT SHOW.
This set may confuse collectors who didn't buy vol 2. The DVD set releases are not grouped as seasons 1-3.
Vol 1 gives you the shorter season 1 and the first few episodes of Season 2.
Vol 2 gives you most of season 2.
Vol 3 (this one) gives you the last few eps of season 2 and the whole of season 3.
I particularly enjoyed the premier appearances of other DC characters not on tv before. Rather than take a chance on giving them their own shows, Warner came up with a brainstorm. Almost every second episode of Superman in this DVD set teams Superman up (in the comic book style of DC Comics Presents...) with another Super Hero, including 2 more Batman appearances (one with Tim Drake Robin), the New Gods, Aquaman (drawn much better than his half naked long haired nose ringed appearance in Justice League), Legion of Super Heroes, and the first tv appearance of the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern (all but ignoring Hal Jordan, but it's good to see Kyle).
The Legion story is set in Clark Kent's college years, before he became Superman, and adapts the premise for Legion of Super Heroes: They go into the past from the 30th Century to young Clark's time, and team with him. A great prototype for the Legion series that aired last year.
Also, if you're wondering what happened to Batman's enemies Ras Al Gul and Bane in his own series, you'll get your answers here in two team-ups with Superman. "Knight Time" adapts the long running Knightfall Batman plotline of the early 1990s, using Superman as Batman's stand-in, rather than Jean-Paul. "Demon Reborn" pits Ras against Superman and Batman, whose Worlds Finest relationship is developing at just the right pace to continue in Justice League season one.
Buy this one for sure,
Peter

Great fun for all ages. 5 out of 5 stars.

This cartoon was a favorite of mine. When it came on for the first time, I knew I was going to be hooked.

As you have probably guessed, this particular show heavily makes use of the Bruce Timm animation style which made Batman look so darn good. Obviously this show is a lot brighter and overall lighter in spirit and is definately more child friendly, but the writing and production value is every bit as high.

The episodes are smartly written and well animated. The voice actors are absolutely perfect for their characters. Brad Garret even makes a cameo as Lobo (who is awesome) and, surprisingly enough, is actually quite well suited for the role.

If you do not love this (not likely, it's a great show), the children in your family will. It's smart enough for an adult, but light enough for a child. A well balanced show, and a great addition to your collection.

-Matt

Perfect for little superman 4 out of 5 stars.

I applaud this wonderful release of "Superman: The Animated Series - Volume Two". The first volume was great, but the second is wonderful. Better writing, action, and even more villains. This particular season has its own crop of superb episodes, most of which have some of my favorite villians of the series. "The Late Mr. Kent", "Target", "Action Figures" (Metallo is inredible here), "Ghost in the Machine", "Brave New Metropolis", "World's Finest" (all three parts), and, of course, the hilarious "Mxyzpixilated" are my personal favorites. The episodes range from awesome (the ones mentioned above) to average (Identity Crisis, Solar Power, Double Dose) and then to almost preposterous (Monkey Fun). However, in their own way, each episode is enjoyable. Below is a list of episodes contained in this two-disc set.

2. TARGET

3. ACTION FIGURES

4. MXYZPIXILATED

5. DOUBLE DOSE
